The staff were super friendly and accomodating. Unfortunately no buffet breakfast this time around as the chef was off with covid but they were still able to provide us with some good breakfast options. Happy to see staff were wearing masks. The rooms were cute and beds were immaculate upon arrival and very comfy. Coffee was awesome too. The spa was perfect way to finish a day of hiking.

Really friendly staff, facilities are awesome, the food amazing with huge servings. Value for money, we did the $199 package deal and so worth it for everything you get. The shuttles pick you up right outside the doors. Pub within walking distance, great service there also. I will be recommending this to all my friends! Thanks for a great weekend. Spa is also great after the crossing.

Super easy experience! The $199 Tongariro Crossing Deal was worth the price. We had fantastic communication, breakfast, packed lunch, pick up/ drop off for the crossing, accommodation and spas all awesome. We will be recommending to our friends! See you again soon, Thanks so much.

Eric was literally our savior. When we got locked out of an airbnb at 11pm and couldn’t contact the host, he was the only hotel person we could get a hold of. He kindly let us book a room well after closing and even checked in on us once we were settled. The price was very reasonable and the room was comfy. The level of service was unparalleled and we will 100% be staying at the Park on our next Crossing attempt!

Perfect way to do the Tongariro crossing with their amazing package. Spa afterwards was so nice. Really loved their ability to provide vegan food as well when requested. (They have vegan cheese for pizzas, not on the menu so just need to ask)

Fantastic Staff, most impressed with the Staff especially the Bar Tender. Very accommodating, pleasant, knowledgeable and did all that was asked for with a smile. 5 star rating. Will ll possibly return at some stage.

Great place to stay and awesome restaurant. The buffet breakfast was excellent value, and if you love a perfectly cooked steak I highly recommend that here. The spa pools are a great option after a day of skiing. I would have given 5 stars except we could hear the person snoring in the room next door, and the only sink is a tiny one in the little bathroom so it's pretty hard to fill up the kettle 😂

Great place to stay for a few days ski’ing. Room is basic but clean and comfortable with an oil heater to keep it warm. The walk in shower is hot and has good pressure. The bar and communal areas were closed due to Covid restrictions (level 2) which meant that tables in the restaurant were full from 6pm. Service and food in hotel restaurant is quick and simple. I was disappointed with the breakfast though and felt that $22 for scrambled eggs and bacon on toast with a coffee was expensive. All the staff worked hard and went above and beyond to make sure we had a comfortable stay.

An amazing weekend here from check in to check out, the customer service absolutely awesome every person who works here, we're beautiful. We stayed here as we wanted to take our kids to the snow it was raining so we couldn't do much up at the mountain but we still managed to have fun. If you are looking for somewhere nice to stay come here the resturant the food was on point had dinner here every night well worth it. The chefs are really nice and front of house also the bar man and lady at front desk.

Staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. Was very clean and the unit was warm to arrive to (especially good when it's freezing outside) Only complaint was not having a proper duvet cover over the duvets. All 3 were sandwiched between straight sheets, which meant slippery sheets all night.

The rooms were clean and the staff friendly. The biggest complaint is the noise. The walls are paper thin and you can hear people all the time especially if they are a bit loud. I feel sorry for the people on the lower levels. Even though the rooms are extremely small the stay wasn't bad at all.

Service was prompt and food was amazing. We got pizzas after doing the Tongariro crossing and it was soo good! Best pizzas we’ve had in a long time!

Perfect hotel for a night stay… plenty of parking space.. we booked a king room which was fairly big enough for 2… bathroom was big too… the cherry on the top was its restaurant and bar, old fashioned and gave a tavern feeling… highly recommended

First of all the hotel was good, but I can't say same thing about the staff. The room's fridge was empty and there was no tap to have water in the room. One of the staff members in the restaurant was very rude and started incresing her voice when I asked what was coming with the meal. The price is okay for what to get except the restaurant. I've also encountered a crazy lady doing smack down on her daughter when her daughter didn't listened to her instructions. The lady at the lobby didn't speak English well too, she was not understandable. But I'll give 3 stars for the room and the price you pay.

We went here for dinner. The food was great, staff looked after us well. We will go back again.

Room was nice but bathroom was small and inexplicably had neither extractor fan nor a window that would open (without a screwdriver, could be wrong but it did look like other rooms had excess condensation too). Food options in the area were very limited but this isn't the hotel's fault. Good location. Quiet location, although could hear talking from neighbouring rooms.

We had the summer Crossing package. The packed lunch was great. Also included return shuttle. Comfortable bed. Room had everything we needed. Bathroom a bit small but manageable for a couple of days. Great meal from Spiral Restaurant. Breakfast great also. Definitely recommend for a short or overnight stay.

Good value. Very friendly and informative staff. Great place to stay for exploring Tongariro. The rooms work well for a family, although noise from the garden travels easily through the walls. Kept us awake one evening. Except for that, great place. Would come again.

Lovely, clean & tidy rooms, not huge, but perfect for relaxing the night before and night after doing to the Tongariro Crossing! Bathroom was spacious, clean and shower was amazing!! We had the Tongariro Crossing summer package so Breakfast, shuttle and lunch were included! Lunch was perfect amount to keep you going on the crossing! We were very happy all round with our stay, the staff made us welcome and were very helpful! Breakfast and dinner were tasty! Over all we enjoyed our stay here and would definitely recommend it!

Very lovley clean and affordable place to stay. We were greeted and felt comfortable right away because the lady at check-in was so nice. The spa was a great addition, loved it, will definitely be back

Loved the Park Hotel. Looks newly renovated from the outside. The rooms are exactly what you need. Bed was comfortable and bathroom was big. Hot tub spa and nice looking restaurant (wasn't open due to hotel being mostly closed because of covid ?). Lounge area by the restaurant. Staff was very hospitable and professional. Would definitely stay here again.

If you're doing the Tongariro crossing, this hotel is a great base to do it from. We chose the package deal, which included 2 nights, breakie and transfers. The Spiral Restaurant was also a pleasant surprise. Good food, atmosphere and great waiting staff. We'll definitely come back; just hope we don't get a room with a noisy extraction fan again.

Restaurant review only - Kids menu was huge effectively the same size as an adult plate, the burger couldn't fit into the mouths of my kids. Burger buns were dry, overall the burger was ok. Fish & chips also gets an ok. Very fishy taste which I'm not into, but others may be. Service was a bit on the short side, kind of felt like we were mildly annoying for them.... Outside of the barman. He was lovely. Don't think I'll be back in a hurry.

Clean rooms and premises. Fresh food and good food made by chef with nice big portions. Restaurant and Bar was nicely decorated and friendly staff 🙂 We will be back with more friends to stay.

The rooms are small but comfy. The grounds are nice the food is amazing and the staff are friendly. Close to the mountian for walkers great I over night stop for bikers. Oh and fast WiFi

Took a while to drive too from Auckland, but a great location, especially for the mount. Check in was swift and the rooms were very room. Beds heated, shower compact and pretty cosy overall. The breakfast opens early and had a decent selection, eggs, bacon, toast, hash browns, fruits and cereals. Did buy a salad for the previous night and it was over priced but eh! Good find!

Very small rooms that are right next each other. Most of the time it is noisy and hard to get a proper night's sleep. Spiral restaurant and bar serves very good dinner and there is a good selection of beverages as well. Breakfast is unremarkable. Staff was very friendly.

Great food and outside setting you can take your puppy also

Did the Tongariro Crossing 2 night package. This has got to be the best value two night activity package around. Could not fault the Park Hotel. All of it exceeded our expectations given the price. Staff were super friendly. Food, rooms, transport and all the other extras made the weekend a great experience. Not to be missed during Covid closure times when the usually frantic crossing is much quieter.

Generally a nice lodge with a convenient location to nearby parks. The rooms were pretty good but also very small for families. The bathroom is very small, and was annoying having only one tiny sink. To fill up our water bottle and bladders for hiking we ended up using the shower.

Warm and very cozy, backpacker style, clean and has everything you need. Great service and super close to the crossing. Large kitchen, nice movie room, has a hot spa, though we were too tired to use it. Nicely decorated too, which always makes a trip a bit special. Super helpful staff! Would definitely stay there again :)

All the staff were really on to it, efficient and helpful. The food was delicious and the packed lunch for the Tongariro Alpine Crossing was a delight and helped my friends and I smash it out. I'll definitely be back!

Very good hotel rooms, we stayed in the family mezzanine and it was very nice. The room was clean and tidy, beds we're fine. Only the shower wasn't that good - one of these fixed shower with an embedded flow and temp control. The hotel has two spas that are great, the restaurant is nice. People were very nice, friendly and helpful.

Best hotel near Tongariro If you plan to do the Alpine crossing, book here. The rooms are warm and functional. The main hall is warm, with a nice fire place. There are few options to dinner around the hotel but you don't need them... The food in the hotel is simply great. Try the ribs ;)

Package to do the Tongariro Crossing and The Park worked really well. Comfortable rooms, nice hot spa for after the walk, well timed shuttles to and from the walk plus nice restaurant/bar.

Fantastically comfortable beds! Room a little small - cozy, very cozy! Bathroom a bit of a tight squeeze. Difficult to open shower door without nudging bathroom door open at the same time. Nice hot shower though. Great service and food in restaurant. Wifi rather patchy.

Couldn’t fault my visit! Everything was perfect. I stayed at the park Ruapehu for two nights and was treated great throughout. The food was delicious, the room was clean and luxurious, the staff were helpful and friendly and the hotel was beautiful!

Great service from the staff! Great food. Rooms are comfortable and very clean. We stayed for tongariro crossing and thought the package they offered was perfect. We weren't looking for a 5 star. This is great for groups. Walls a little thin so you do hear the people moving around next door. Overall very happy with standard of accommodation. Would stay there again

Great place to stay to complete the alpine crossing, however very small bathrooms. Rooms were clean but very noisy due to thin walls and creaking floorboards from above. Not the best nights sleep! Food in restaurant was good and staff were very friendly.

Stayed there for one night in the double room. Pretty reasonable. Couldn't really use much of the facilities that were there. The spas and the restaurants looked nice. Had a late night beer at the pub. All the staff were pretty friendly. The rooms was a bit small. The bathroom was quite cramped. But overall pretty good for the price.

The bathrooms in the rooms aren’t that big which when you're 6'4' can be a challenge but the shower had great pressure and was clean. The beds are comfy and I slept well however you can hear a lot if you have someone in the room above you. Also the cleaner tried to come into the room without knocking just as I stepped out of the shower! I told the staff at the desk and they apologised profusely and said they'd have a chat with the cleaners.

We were working in the area and needed a comfy bed for the night. We arrived with no booking and they could easily accommodate us. The poor ski season may have something to do with that. The place was warm (eventually, after I stopped the draught coming under the door), quiet and comfortable for a good night's sleep.

Not overly impressed tbh. First impression of the room was it much better than the last one we had but the bed and pillows were soft. Some people may like that but I find it uncomfortable and didn't sleep well. We had elephants above us which was annoying, they should put families on lower floors and couples above them. We had a cooked breakfast from the buffet but it was stone cold which was disappointing. Just topped it off really.

Great value for price, really enjoyed stay

The Park Hotel Ruapehu is a fantastic mountain retreat. It is warm and welcoming and it's chic rustic charm is a pleasant sight after a hard days travel. The rooms are clean and comfy, though a bit small and the bathrooms are tiny but they do the job. The staff are amazing! Very approachable, friendly and so helpful. They, more than anything else, made my stay. The food in the restaurant is delightful and the bar is an awesome place to hang out. I definitely recommend this hotel for your next trip to the Tongariro National Park.

Stayed here for 1 night before doing the tongariro crossing. The room itself was pretty clean with white towels which is a bonus. However, the service was below standard. Due to leaving early we were suppose to receive our breakfast the night before, they came to our room to ask which options we would like which was nice. Unfortunately, they never returned with our food. Eventually we went to reception to ask, they had completely forgotten about it as well as other guests too. Apart from this the room was good. Therefore, the overall experience was okay.

A good experience was had here. Very friendly and helpful desk staff. It was raining, with cool weather, but the rooms were lovely, cosy and warm. Loved the walk-in showers! Great stopover for us. We got to enjoy a hearty breakfast. It's not a five star hotel, hence me giving it three stars. All round still good and I highly recommend The Park Hotel.

Three stars because it is somewhere convenient to stay close to the mountains and The room was Clean and warm how ever not sound proof so hear others every foot steps and when they use the toilet and have a noisy shower!! To make it worse I think we got the worst room right next to the stairs. Also Couldn’t connect to wifi. I recommend bringing your own pillows. and bowls and plates if you are going to eat at lest eat ur own breakfast there,

Used as a stop over. Pretty small but not a problem as we were only there for a night. Had a fridge, god bless. Charming lodge style, amazing views, very helpful staff gave us a map and some easy day activities to fill the day up with. Wish I had time to check out the hot tub as that would have been great under the stars but they closed it an hour early - what are you gonna do, whatever. Had one of the best breakfasts ever here. Someone left it all in our fridge the night before so we could eat whenever we woke up and focus on packing and not going to a kitchen or something. Great for backpackers, or a stop over.

We had a great stay. We got a double bed room and it was really comfortable. It was cleaned everyday. Breakfast and dinner were tasty in the cosy restaurant inside the hotel. Staff was very nice and friendly.

Rooms are a bit small but pretty nice. Then run shuttles to the crossing, however consider using the shuttles provided by cafe near the gas pump which is a bit ahead of the hotel. Continental breakfast was good. The public washroom in hotel was also clean.

Great value, awesome restaurant, nice staff

Friendly staff.. Great hotel and getaway location to walk the track. WiFi was free. The breakfast wasn't great and for 18 dollars you would expect for the coffee to be included but they only offer instant coffee in that package.. Also, make sure to eat before you arrive in the evening. Their kitchen closes at 8 or even earlier and you won't be able to find anything else on that town.

I stayed in a room with two single beds. The room is quite nice with oil heater and electric blankets. It was snowing outside and I didn't feel cold in the room at all. The bathroom is quite small to be honest and it doesn't have a proper door to the room so you can pretty much hear everything that happens in the toilet if you know what I mean. The restaurant area is good. They have a fire place, tables and a bar. Everything looks clean and cozy. I definitely recommend it and would stay there again. The breakfast is $24 and the menu is basically eggs, beans, sausage, iogurt, musli. Coffee is not included so you can end up paying $30ish for a breakfast which is quite pricey.

We cancelled our booking due to Ongoing covid situation. Though our booking was non-refundable, Park management agreed to charge zero cancellation fee. We appreciate this kind gesture. You guys are awesome and we would want to come there once the situation permits. Cheers

We had a good stay and time at The Park Hotel. The 4 single bed room cost was $180 per night and did not include bathroom towels or tea/coffee and kettle. The room was very basic and had faulty lights and window blinds. The shared kitchen was great. We loved the 2 hot tubs outside and the staff were friendly. We phoned on the day to check our booking and ask for a late check-in. The person had trouble finding our booking, so I had to forward my email booking confirmation.

Excellent food at restaurant. Service was outstanding. Quality produce. Cosy menu and views of mountain. Highly recommend restaurant. Room was ok. We had to join the two single beds for my partner and I ourselves though.. we used single sheet bedding also.. Bathroom was a tight squeeze which can be difficult when getting out of big snow gear..

Great spot for a nice meal. Steak was cooked perfectly. We're very accommodating of my needs to find a comfortable spot to breastfeed. Only hiccup was there websites menu didn't match the menu on the night. Couple of friends were disappointed when the one thing they were excited to try wasn't available.

Was a good location to get to the Tongariro Alpine crossing. The hotel was o.k at best. Very small room. My husband and I could hardly maneuver thru without bumping into each other. But it served our function. We needed just 1 day to get to the hiking location. Staff was nice.

The rooms are a bit basic and the walls a bit thin but they're warm and perfectly adequate for a couple of nights while you take in the local activities - tramping, skiing etc. The communal area is fantastic designed to let different groups have their own space without impacting on each other but still lending to a happy buzz. The food is great!

Clean room but toilet a bit too cramp, maybe should consider of renovating it. Free breakfast only to certain type of food else you got to pay $5 for it. Staffs are friendly and location is nice, can view both of the mountain easily opposite the road side.

Nice clean hotel rooms, Had friendly and helpful staff. Also had a nice spa pool (I think it might have had 2) which was nice and relaxing to sit in after a days worth of skiing. Would love to stay there again.

Accomadation was satisfactory was near and tidy but the room only had a tiny oil heater for an entire room.The double and one single had heated blankets but other single bed did not have so my younger daughter was really cold .Wifi had poor signal most of the time.Not much variety on the TV channels.

Nice, clean and tidy hotel. I was a walk in late into the evening. Had made no prior booking. I opted for the room that can accommodate 4 (it was just me, my wife and 6 year old) with another bedroom setup on a mezzanine floor. The room, bathroom and linen were all clean. The toilet is tiny so if you are a largish person, it's gonna be a squeeze. The room in general is compact. The room has a couch, small refrigerator, a kettle, a room heater and TV. Free Wi Fi too though a little patchy on reception and speed. Just the room was $125 taxes included. No bed and breakfast deal was on offer. I stayed on 14/10. The one restaurant and bar serves at the Park has a decent selection of food and beer/liquor. Meal for two works out to around $50. Not cheap and that's to their advantage as there are no other restaurants in the area except for a cafe. My only complaint is the parking. The middle row has crater sized potholes and on a damp day, like it was when we were there, it is difficult to walk with all the puddles of water.

Loved this hotel! Fantastic views of Mount Ruapehu and Mount Ngauruhoe. The rooms were clean and very comfortable . The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Particular thanks to Dan ( the barman), Colin (chef) Stephanie and Wayne . Your customer service skills are truly outstanding. You really made our stay a lovely experience. I would certainly recommend this hotel.

Very affordable for a family of 4. Compact room but clean and modern. Spa was a little tired but still did the job. Staff were very friendly and helpful. On site restaurant was poor so go somewhere else to eat.

Stay here often. JJ the manager she is fantastic as are the other attentive staff. The refurbished rooms downstairs are small though very comfy. If you are after quiet I would suggest an upstairs room as the little ones running around upstairs can be noisy but hey, it was school holidays. To drive to Whakapapa ski area is only 10 min or so. Rooms are very warm and you certainly won't go cold. Spiral restaurant and cafe on premises and the coffee is good. Menu has changed over the years I have been coming here and breakfast is no longer buffet rather a continental made in the kitchen. Only thing I can fault really is a few more high chairs they could add to the restaurant rather than one but the warm fire and crayons and paper supplied for the little ones made up for it.

This hotel is perfect for hikers with shuttles leaving every morning. The restaurant here is pretty good as well. The breakfast buffet is an absolute joke, there isn't much to choose from and they run out of food fast. The good news is you can upgrade your meals from the restaurant for like $4 extra. They also make you pay for WiFi which I HATE! Minus 1 star for that alone!

From arrival to leaving we my whole family all 5 grandies daughters husband's and our adult son all down for a skiing trip thought wow great staff clean warm and friendly. Great staff at Spiral restaurant amazing good even for kids. Movie fireplace and bar set my scene the kids after skiing loved the spa.

Fairly basic rooms are the biggest letdown. We enjoyed the outdoor spa after a day of trekking. Staff extremely friendly and helpful. Decent restaurant.

Small modern rooms that are warm. Family rooms are very tight and seemed to be the same size as doubles. Bathrooms were modern but small. Avoid the on-site restaurant, as the food quality is rather poor.

Good accomodation great food

Overnighted here on a trip south. Fantastic bed, good shower and the room was warm and very comfortable. Happily stay again. And what a view in the morning

We thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of our stay from the warm friendly staff, comfort and cleanliness of the rooms to the delicious meals and wine in the cosy restaurant with a lovely fire. Handy to the ski and mountain activities of the region. We will return.

Hotel rooms are small but very clean and comfortable, staff are friendly and accommodating. The restaurant caters will to families and large groups and the food was very good and reasonably priced.

Wonderful reception, friendly staff, great supper. Beds are a bit too soft for a biggish bloke and en-suit bathroom is a bit cramped.

Amazing staff - professional, friendly. helpful and kind. I was at a conference at the Park therefore was focussed however the staff (waitress' etc) looked after my partner,.so much so, that I didn't need to worry. Of course it is at best a 3-star hotel (facilities) but it is 5-star (customer-service) !! Must say - If you paying top dollar for a room then get one on the 2nd floor because same price on bottom floor will leave you listening to herd of baby elephants..

A friend and I stayed here for 4 nights as part of a mystery holiday. As soon as we entered our room, we are disappointed with the small size of the room. Location of the hotel is really really very good. From arrival to departure we were well taken care of.

Kind staff and nice and tidy rooms.

I visited the Park Hotel for breakfast only, so that's all this review is about. The Eggs Benedict were good - a much larger breakfast than one would normally expect from Eggs Benedict. The toasted waffles were terrible. Don't order. The main attraction to this restaurant is that it's open early.

Room was small, dark and cold. Floor, bed and shover was clear. Breakfest was ok, but you get cooked, baked or heated stuff only if you pay extra. There is nothing interesting around hotel, its right next to a busy street so no walk for you. Room entering is very confusing, your main room window is to the courtyard, where people pass to their rooms. Also thin walls, I heard snoring whole night.

Accommodation is very nice, clean and comfortable but a little cramped. The restaurant menu looks good but the standard of food served was very disappointing and unimaginative. They should let the chef cook from the heart.

Newly renovated room and clean. We stayed on the ground floor and the transfer noise from upstairs can be quite disturbing. Otherwise we had a comfortable stay.

Cute comfortable rooms, great views of the mountain from restaurant. I recommend the a la carte menu, eggs benny was delicious. Love the lodge like feel and hot tubs are a bonus on a cool rainy day.

Just spent two days at this hotel and the location is key. The hotel is 30 minutes from Whakapapa Ski Fields entrance on Bruce Road. (P.s. You'll need chains for 4wd to go up during the winter). We stayed at the family room with two single beds on the first floor and a double on the second. The two heated jacuzzi outside was amazing after a snowboarding all day. The only negatives are the mattress themselves, they're super simple and sunken in for me. I had to put the cushions from the couch to make it bearable. Think hostel style mattresses.

Pretty small rooms. Restaurant pricey and soso quality. But both seems to be typical for the region. But we lost a stuffed animal and they sent it to us against fee. So that’s nice :)

I received good service. The staff organised the shuttle for the Tangariro crossing. However, the rooms are badly designed. They are all facing a courtyard and no view of the nature around, the walls are thin and you can hear the neighbours and the bathroom is very small. The wifi connexion is also very poor. The main window has curtains that you need to keep closed if you want some privacy in the room as all windows are facing the same courtyard.

bath room is very small and can't find place to put my clothes (there are no hook) when I have a shower . If your room is first floor, very loud noise from second floor. Friendly staff, location is closed to Mt Ruapehu ski area.

A nice quite place. Rooms are small but practical, comfy beds, bathroom on the compact size. A good place to stay if hitting the snow or attempting Tongariro Alpine Crossing.

The rooms are small but the service, restaurant, and bar are amazing. Friendly and helpful staff. And they have a shuttle service to the Alpine crossing that is very helpful. Great place.

The location is great for Tongariro National Park and doing the crossing. The bed was comfy enough and the staff were friendly. Wifi was very very slow, and the bathroom was tiny but fine for a night.

The staff are great, the bar is nice but the rooms themselves need work and are pretty noisy (I think the walls are made of balsa wood...).

Neat place to stay in National Park right by the mountain. Friendly, helpful staff however the food there wasn’t the greatest and the rooms were crammed and extremely hot with no air circulation.

Room was good and so was the a la carte dinner. The continental breakfast was a little lacking and much of the cold cuts were gone by 9.

We had the best holiday here, all of the staff were so helpful and professional. My daughter ended up needing medical help and everyone went above and beyond for us can't rate our stay highly enough!

The cleaning it is not so good, you can see spider Nets in the room, dust, and it seems there is no daily cleaning when you stay several days...
