M.We visited Tauranga last weekend from Hamilton. We were looking for a place with a playground for our kids to play. Unfortunately COVID closed all playgrounds. Anyways we were lucky to find this nice restaurant next to the shopping mall. Kids ordered burgers and they loved it. Mine was a salad, great combination of flavor and leaves. Staff was efficient and fast. The new way to order online was great and easy to use. Recommended!
W.Good place for a bite and beverage my mate and I definatly were surprised how much we enjoyed the food.
Tasty beefy-t burgers and the assorted chicken nibbles and bites were good especially with the gravy and other dipping sauces hit the spot.
Burgers did seem like they had been sitting while the other foods were prepared just needed to be in a warmer or something perhaps but other than that good food, cool environment for evening meal and social drinks bring back summer.
d.Great kid friendly pub. Excellent outdoor dining - old school colourful picnic bench style. Yum food options - the Vietnamese salad and Korean wings are our favs. Kids menu with typical fare and a playground. Win win for all
T.A real good feed, pizza is great and the chicken wings are definitely worth trying. The whole no service, use a cell phone app to order from your table is a bit of a downer as it is just too much effort to order drinks. Probably fun for the younger generations.
R.Nice Tavern meals(food) really great and tasty we all had the cider to drink yummy cider and the service was tops . You have to visit this and try the food and cider your self
D.As a parent with an 18 month old, this place was ideal. Family friendly, fresh local craft beer on tap (jug of beer is the way to go).
Service was great. Adult meals were delicious, kid meal disappeared down the hatch. Family had a wonderful time. Will definitely be returning.

A.We have stopped in here for dinner after hitting the beach in papamoa a couple of times now. Each time we have experienced great food and customer service. The restaraunt is awesome with plenty of different places to sit. The decor is a cool beachey vibe with great music playing in the background There is also a playground for the kids. The food is reasonably priced and dress code is really relaxed which works great for just coming off the beach. The mighty burger and chips are my recommendation as the beer battered chips are probably the best I have ever tasted... the inhouse buns are also amazing! The waffle dessert is a massive serving we had to share 1 between the 2. Our family will definitely continue this summer tradition next year when we are back at papamoa!
J.Nice place for an outdoor drink and meal. Food was all okay but not great. Smashed potatoes were cold and tasted like old roasted potatoes, calamari was good but small portion, beef noodle salad was nice.
D.For atmosphere this place is definitely a 5 star. Chilled and easy but fin for kids. Food can be improved. Overall a pleasant place... do not feed the seagulls.
U.Great atmosphere for families, adults can relax have a beverage and kids play. Kids meals were reasonably priced. Oh and according to hubby the Waffles were next level yummy!!!

K.This was a fun and friendly place to take the kids for dinner. The Monday special menu is good value for money. I liked the range of beers on tap, including their own brew, and became a convert to Macs Cloudy Apple Cider. The waffles are awesome!

We had charcoal grilled chicken, with beans and almonds, lettuce wedge which sounds odd but is divine - and potato skins was amazing! Ordered a side of popcorn cauliflower because we shared and weren't sure if it would be enough. It was more than enough.

A.What a great meal! My husband and I shared the meat platter. The meat was cooked perfectly, and the sides were delicious. Serving size was perfect, we just managed to finish everything on our plate.

S.I went Midweek for lunch, so the kitchen was somewhat limited (they are understandably too quiet to offer their specialties). But yeah, it was pretty average. Had a few dishes, I wouldn’t steer clear of it but I wouldn’t recommend either
S.Always a good atmosphere, caught the live blues band and the ambience was beautiful. Staff were great and provided amazing service even though they were busy and facilities clean and well maintained.

There is a but though, for really seriously good food and more comfortable dining there are so many other better choices. If I could do a 3 and a half I would have.
M.Great, relaxed, local pub and restaurant. Now rebranded as The Island. There's a main area with kids play out the back, where you can also sit with your fur baby. To the side is the grown ups only area, where you can also take your fur baby.
Great pizza made in the outdoor oven. Nice beer. What's not to like?
A.We had a great breakfast on Sunday morning. Your filter coffee needs to be hotter and the long black I had could be less bitter.

m.Have dined here many times in past. Disappointed today. Had the ribs meal and the salad consisted of a 1/4 cut iceburg lettuce? Had a drizzle of dressing and a sprinkle of parmeasan.
The potato skins were x 5 only? I wish I'd taken a photo to post. First time I've left and thought it may be last visit.

B.For anybody looking for a great place to go. With family or mates there selection is great a don't even start on the waffles. We came up from wellington to find a grey place with whity staff a great chef's. Great holiday.
J.Fantastic place. Wonderful atmosphere, and the food was brilliant. Definitely a hotel for all ages, young and old including children who were all having a blast. Thoroughly recommended it.
J.A real surprise! Situated between a shopping mall car park and a petrol station is a fantastic venue.
Family and kid friendly with good food and friendly service.
The area is subtly zoned so if you want to be kid free, dining or watching sport uninterrupted you can.

S.Such a fun place to meet up with friends. I love all the different zones, not being squashed in, and the music. The young staff quickly remove unwanted plates/glasses etc, stopping your table from being cluttered. The food isn't gourmet but it's yummy enough and suits the venue. Been several times now.

They had run out of all things fish on the menu, which is a bit odd, but maybe not for the Sunday of the last few days of the holiday. Food was a wee bit basic, but pretty good and you get good sized portions, very yummy chips.

J.Wow! Booked this place for my son's 21st and couldn't have been more happier. The staff were so accommodating and really went the extra mile to make the night enjoyable, even to the point of tying my son's shoelaces when he saw they were undone and knew he couldn't do it himself. Talk about service! Complementary drinks for our sober drivers, excellent food and a smile with every drink. Thanks to Hope and the team for making our night special.

UPDATE: Eat the "Bianca" pizza next time you're in. Just had it...AMAZING. (and the house iced tea is killer - take it from a Southerner 🇺🇲)

S.First time there from out of town. The girls n lads working behind the the bar were very friendly and did a great job with service. That puha beer and food was on point. Definitely recommend. Next trip back will definitely go back there.

Warm and dry) but it was the smokers who could only get out the door before lighting up and I'm sure not I the correct area and spoiled a great night. Food great. Location great. Kid friendly yes. Poor smokers average.

M.Brilliant place to bring all the family, go on a Wednesday as they have 50c chicken wings which are delicious and such great value for money!!!!! Drinks are very reasonable here too! The only thing that let the place down frm not scoring a 5 star was the vegetarian menu....very poor and they ran out of everything we tried to order. Great vibe and very busy buzzing place....a huge must visit! 👍
M.This place doesn't look like much from the outside, and to be honest we chose it mainly because the kids were getting hangry!
However once you step inside we realized very quickly that we had found a treasure. The garden has great atmosphere and sn excellent play area for the children and a very tasty menu.
I would happily return here if we were staying in the area or so this time passing through

T.Fantastic experience went on a Monday night for my dad's birthday $10 burger, chips and drink. The outside area is fab and fully enclosed with a great place for the kids to play. We will be back more over the summer for sure 😊

A.Last minute family get together... great location...interesting inside very beachy.... fantastic area for kids... even was s bouncy castle we as we had not children with us moved to what's called the island... nice shaded area... fantastic service... had chicken wings and they were do awesome.. the ribs I was told melt in your mouth they were so tender. The pizzas were very very nice...will come again and will bring the kids next time... felt for the kitchen stsff as very hot..
But they all were still cheerful which is hard to get. Well done....

K.Cool vibe but staff can be a little unwelcoming the quality of live acts range from great to terrible. Was there to watch a band called GARH and the lead singer swore at the patrons and he also tried to pull a girl up on stage when she clearly didn't want to. On the other side of that the bay originals events are amazing and the foods pretty good too

E.Absolutely loved this place. Lots of space. Great place to dine with larger numbers if needed. It's fully fenced with a kids area so kids love it too. Food was good too and the thick shake was yummy. Short walk to and from the beach. Will definitely dine here again.
S.Food is average at best but is fun for kids to run around,. Beer is well priced. New taco truck is apparently very good from people at my table. They do great family events like Halloween parties with kids activities.
A.Have been there a few times and really good. Just really good food the burgers are so good and the chips are well worth it. The staff are fantastic and so friendly. The place has a good vibe and is well worth going out to for a drink and socialize with mates.
N.Thank you guys for the good service. We stayed outside all night, wrapped up on a blanket and with a hot water bottle. Cool idea. Bar closes at 10pm on Friday, which I thought was good because they came and asked us if we wanted something else to drink before closing. Good place for a catch up

L.Great almost every night, sometimes there are too many kids around to feel like you can have a really good time. But they have just opened an adults only section. As an adult that doesn't like to smoke it's a bit hard, but this place has such a good vibe that it's pretty close to perfect. This is NZ culture at it's finest in a restaurant and bar.

If you've been to Astrolab in the Mount you'll love this place, up until recently they were owned by the same company. Definitely check this place out the next time you're in Papamoa.
T.Yeah great. Awesome outdoor area with play options for the kids, climbing playground equipment like a big submarine to climb around in and a tree house kind of thing plus truck tires with trees growing out of them to sit on or jump off.
Brightly coloured awnings that made my three year old son say "is the party at that circus?" Kids and the whole family all loved it.

L.Great value for money. However we ordered the steak meal which was almost perfect but the mashed potatoes were gross. They tasted like those instant powdered ones which ruined a great meal. If it wasn't for those potatoes I would've given 4 stars. The other problem was that the music was too loud that my aunty and I who came in together had to yell to hear each other and actually just couldn't wait to get out of there cos we were getting a bit of a headache from the chaos of the music and people yelling to hear eachother.

J.A crackin little tavern for food and drinks when the sun is out in Papamoa. Great customer service, good menu options as expected of a pub/tavern and a good mix of indoor and outdoor seating with large kids play area and sports tv for the bigger kids.
There is mention of a pizza place we didn't get to try on this trip but will definitely be back and highly recommend for lunch or dinner.
C.Not as good as I expected. A bit too cafe style with a license for beer. Food was fine. Nothing special and served in a plastic basket. Kids loved playing on the boat in the garden. Don't know what I expected, but I expected better.

A.The atmosphere is great, a large improvement over the past, very family friendly and enjoyable to visit, but the food is just very average from everything we have tried. The burger meat is poor, the ribs though tender have little flavour, the pizza toppings are very strange to get used to (no pepperoni, beef, etc) and the 3 we have tried were just okay, and just very average tastes. So far the best thing to eat were the fries and it shouldn't be that way. I would give it maybe 3.5 stars if I could, but only just. And the Taco station attached I wanted to like so much, I grew up near the Mexican border in Texas, I've tasted good tacos, unfortunately, these were not very good tacos. They fell apart too easily and generally poor value cost wise. Taste was also average.
J.Fantastic spot in papamoa, close to the beach, featuring a great friendly atmosphere. Very popular with families. Very busy over summer during lunch and dinner times, also features a lifeboat from the infamous rena for the kids to play on.

G.We enjoyed the Pap Tav, friendly staff, good selection of beer, we had pizzas and fries and there was enough to share between all 8 of us, great value for money and fresh tasting food. I recommend a visit for anyone in the area.

M.The Pap Tav is the best pub around, the Burgers and Pizzas are top quality and in my opinion the best in Tauranga the in house beers are some of my favourite and the staff are always great

The atmosphere is really chilled and family focused, I didn't find the food to be too bad (although i haven't tried a lot from the food menu yet)
