We visited Tauranga last weekend from Hamilton. We were looking for a place with a playground for our kids to play. Unfortunately COVID closed all playgrounds. Anyways we were lucky to find this nice restaurant next to the shopping mall. Kids ordered burgers and they loved it. Mine was a salad, great combination of flavor and leaves. Staff was efficient and fast. The new way to order online was great and easy to use. Recommended!

Good place for a bite and beverage my mate and I definatly were surprised how much we enjoyed the food. Tasty beefy-t burgers and the assorted chicken nibbles and bites were good especially with the gravy and other dipping sauces hit the spot. Burgers did seem like they had been sitting while the other foods were prepared just needed to be in a warmer or something perhaps but other than that good food, cool environment for evening meal and social drinks bring back summer.

A real good feed, pizza is great and the chicken wings are definitely worth trying. The whole no service, use a cell phone app to order from your table is a bit of a downer as it is just too much effort to order drinks. Probably fun for the younger generations.

As a parent with an 18 month old, this place was ideal. Family friendly, fresh local craft beer on tap (jug of beer is the way to go). Service was great. Adult meals were delicious, kid meal disappeared down the hatch. Family had a wonderful time. Will definitely be returning. Edit: back here yet again. Can't be beat.

We have stopped in here for dinner after hitting the beach in papamoa a couple of times now. Each time we have experienced great food and customer service. The restaraunt is awesome with plenty of different places to sit. The decor is a cool beachey vibe with great music playing in the background There is also a playground for the kids. The food is reasonably priced and dress code is really relaxed which works great for just coming off the beach. The mighty burger and chips are my recommendation as the beer battered chips are probably the best I have ever tasted... the inhouse buns are also amazing! The waffle dessert is a massive serving we had to share 1 between the 2. Our family will definitely continue this summer tradition next year when we are back at papamoa!

Nice place for an outdoor drink and meal. Food was all okay but not great. Smashed potatoes were cold and tasted like old roasted potatoes, calamari was good but small portion, beef noodle salad was nice.

Love this place, ambience and atmosphere in spades, and good honest food! We had charcoal grilled chicken, with beans and almonds, lettuce wedge which sounds odd but is divine - and potato skins was amazing! Ordered a side of popcorn cauliflower because we shared and weren't sure if it would be enough. It was more than enough.

Great, relaxed, local pub and restaurant. Now rebranded as The Island. There's a main area with kids play out the back, where you can also sit with your fur baby. To the side is the grown ups only area, where you can also take your fur baby. Great pizza made in the outdoor oven. Nice beer. What's not to like?

Have dined here many times in past. Disappointed today. Had the ribs meal and the salad consisted of a 1/4 cut iceburg lettuce? Had a drizzle of dressing and a sprinkle of parmeasan. A real surprise! Situated between a shopping mall car park and a petrol station is a fantastic venue. Family and kid friendly with good food and friendly service. The area is subtly zoned so if you want to be kid free, dining or watching sport uninterrupted you can. Worth a visit.

Such a fun place to meet up with friends. I love all the different zones, not being squashed in, and the music. The young staff quickly remove unwanted plates/glasses etc, stopping your table from being cluttered. The food isn't gourmet but it's yummy enough and suits the venue. Been several times now.

Wow! Booked this place for my son's 21st and couldn't have been more happier. The staff were so accommodating and really went the extra mile to make the night enjoyable, even to the point of tying my son's shoelaces when he saw they were undone and knew he couldn't do it himself. Talk about service! Complementary drinks for our sober drivers, excellent food and a smile with every drink. Thanks to Hope and the team for making our night special.

This place doesn't look like much from the outside, and to be honest we chose it mainly because the kids were getting hangry! However once you step inside we realized very quickly that we had found a treasure. The garden has great atmosphere and sn excellent play area for the children and a very tasty menu. Last minute family get together... great location...interesting inside very beachy.... fantastic area for kids... even was s bouncy castle we as we had not children with us moved to what's called the island... nice shaded area... fantastic service... had chicken wings and they were do awesome.. the ribs I was told melt in your mouth they were so tender. The pizzas were very very nice...will come again and will bring the kids next time... felt for the kitchen stsff as very hot.. But they all were still cheerful which is hard to get. Well done....

Cool vibe but staff can be a little unwelcoming the quality of live acts range from great to terrible. Was there to watch a band called GARH and the lead singer swore at the patrons and he also tried to pull a girl up on stage when she clearly didn't want to. On the other side of that the bay originals events are amazing and the foods pretty good too

Absolutely loved this place. Lots of space. Great place to dine with larger numbers if needed. It's fully fenced with a kids area so kids love it too. Food was good too and the thick shake was yummy. Short walk to and from the beach. Will definitely dine here again.

Great almost every night, sometimes there are too many kids around to feel like you can have a really good time. But they have just opened an adults only section. As an adult that doesn't like to smoke it's a bit hard, but this place has such a good vibe that it's pretty close to perfect. This is NZ culture at it's finest in a restaurant and bar.

Yeah great. Awesome outdoor area with play options for the kids, climbing playground equipment like a big submarine to climb around in and a tree house kind of thing plus truck tires with trees growing out of them to sit on or jump off. Brightly coloured awnings that made my three year old son say "is the party at that circus?" Kids and the whole family all loved it.

Great value for money. However we ordered the steak meal which was almost perfect but the mashed potatoes were gross. They tasted like those instant powdered ones which ruined a great meal. If it wasn't for those potatoes I would've given 4 stars. The other problem was that the music was too loud that my aunty and I who came in together had to yell to hear each other and actually just couldn't wait to get out of there cos we were getting a bit of a headache from the chaos of the music and people yelling to hear eachother.

A crackin little tavern for food and drinks when the sun is out in Papamoa. Great customer service, good menu options as expected of a pub/tavern and a good mix of indoor and outdoor seating with large kids play area and sports tv for the bigger kids. There is mention of a pizza place we didn't get to try on this trip but will definitely be back and highly recommend for lunch or dinner.

The atmosphere is great, a large improvement over the past, very family friendly and enjoyable to visit, but the food is just very average from everything we have tried. The burger meat is poor, the ribs though tender have little flavour, the pizza toppings are very strange to get used to (no pepperoni, beef, etc) and the 3 we have tried were just okay, and just very average tastes. So far the best thing to eat were the fries and it shouldn't be that way. I would give it maybe 3.5 stars if I could, but only just. And the Taco station attached I wanted to like so much, I grew up near the Mexican border in Texas, I've tasted good tacos, unfortunately, these were not very good tacos. They fell apart too easily and generally poor value cost wise. Taste was also average.
