Went here for lunch after a Sunday drive up the coast. Place was fairly busy and a little chaotic. The spare tables all had the previous customers plates and food on them. Took a while to get these cleared. Staff were friendly and helpful when they finally got to us. My wife ordered a keto meal. Fantastic that this is an option, but she found the meal a little small (or price a little high) for what she got. Was tasty though. I ordered a filo with a side salad. The filo was really nice but the salad had peanuts through it which was a surprise. To be fair, The menu does say to mention any allergies to staff, but I wasn’t expecting peanuts in a rice salad. Luckily I’m not severely allergic and was able to pick them out.

What a wonderful wee cafe! Great food the service was awesome and there was a big range of keto food. I recommend this place for a wee feed. Oh and I was told the coffee was great!

Very good food and excellent service. When we arrived we could only sit at the high table with bar stools. Wasn't ideal for me as I use a walking stick. However, one of the staff moved us when one of the normsl tables freed up. The bar stools were far too short for the height of the table. We all had to reach up to eat. Quite uncomfortable. The cake cabinet was full of delicious looking cakes all Gluten Free which was a real treat as my wife is celiac. A little bit expensive per slice but my wife really enjoyed the three I bought for her. I would certainly go back.

Really nice location, right across from the beach. They have a big breakfast and lunch menu with lots of vegan and vegetarian options. I wasn't impressed by their clam chowder but the veggie breakfast was yum.

Went there with the wife for coffee and KETO cake. Raspberry, Lemon and Coconut cake. Yummy! Loved the level 2 table service. Why not doing that all the time. Worked much better than the usual queues in front of the till.

Had a 3 filling omelette for breakfast (bacon, mushrooms & spinach). Good size omelette, but not a lot of filling. Nicely presented with a fresh little side salad, which I liked. The coffee was not a short macchiato as ordered, but the tea was hot & in a good sized pot. Plenty of seating & great location across the road from the beach. They have a separate keto menu, and a cabinet of delicious looking cakes, many were keto, gluten free etc. I will certainly give this place a return visit to try more from their menu.

Excellent location on the sea front. Near to the high street. Some great views close by, as you can see from the pictures. Would recommend. With regards to the Cafe, the decor is nice and clean and the staff are friendly. If you order a cake expect something big. My father ordered a carrot cake and it was as big as his head. I ordered a curried pita bread. You can pay extra for more garnish, however, it did come with a small side salad which was enough for a lite lunch. Absolutely nothing to complain about.

My first but definitely not my last visit to this fabulous cafe. Was so fantastic to have so many dietary options, including low-carb. In fact they have a separate keto menu and keto cabinet food also, including delicious looking cakes. The staff were welcoming and friendly and very accommodating for my friend with her dietary requests. Can’t wait to go back.

This cafe is good - service is amazing, coffee and smoothies are also really good. But all four eggs in the two breakfast dishes we ordered were overcooked hard instead of poached and runny which is a real bummer for breakfast. Plus the potato "hash" is actually an enormous mashed potato cake. Not terrible, but definitely not hash.

I LOVE the food at this beachy cafe. They have a huge extensive menu of yummy, fresh, healthy options like salads, open sandwiches, breakfasts etc as well as a Keto-friendly menu, which I was thrilled to see. There is also a variety of amazingly delicious Keto cakes and slices, which makes me feel less guilty when indulging on a large chocolate zucchini cake with chocolate cream chease icing (see photo). And their coffee is divine. Well worth the drive up to Kapiti from Porirua.

As well as being an amazing venue right across the road from the beach, the food was great. We shared dips and bread, and pate. All home made, reasonably priced. Friendly staff that know their ingredients- I guess that comes from having actually made the food too.

Went here for an anniversary breakfast. Arrived about 8.45am and it was a nice time to be there, just a few seated diners and occasionally someone would come in for something to take away. By 10am families were starting to arrive and things were beginning to hum so our party of 5 left to free up the table. The atmosphere was very nice and we enjoyed the decor. The staff were pleasant and helpful & the food was delicious. I think we will be going back here sometime

My first visit. I only had a cappuccino. The 4-star rating is for other items like the smiling and happy staff, the cleanliness I of the seating area and of course the beverage I had.

Service really slow, we waited over 20 minutes for 5 hot drinks, by which time the three cakes we had ordered were finished. A table who came in after us were served with a meal and their hot drinks before us. I wanted a savory snack rather than a cake, however the pesto and feta pinwheels had run out whilst we were in the que. The cakes that people had were very nice I believe.

Amazing range of food; went as a table of 5 but the 5th chair was at the end of the table, a bit awkward for people traffic as it was busy brunch time on a Saturday. I ordered the vegetarian big breakfast which was delicious; great range of condiments served with the dish including basil pesto, sun dried tomatoes and fresh smashed avocado. Eggs perfectly cooked. The only issue was the acoustics were quite loud as there was little acoustic absorption, and occasionally people bumped into my seat as they squeezed between the tables. Overall a great brunch place on the Kapiti coast!!

Ambience Cafe is a delight. As a Coeliac the selection of delicious cakes is mind bending (and a good excuse to get something extra to take home). The helpful front of house peeps are more than happy to accommodate gluten free eaters requirements - just ask. The coffee is strong and hot - couldn't ask for more. But there is more as right over the road is a beautiful beach and Kapiti Island. You can take a stroll after all that delicious food and drink. 😀

Solid cafe serving up great coffee from Havana. The challenge is finding something you like as there's so much to choose from. However, once you've found that dish (as I did) you'll go back on a regular basis. The coffee is really delicious (but I'm a Havana fan) and the service is warm and friendly. There is a kids corner with toys which makes Ambience an ideal place to bring the family down, and with the beach just across the road you can really spend a good morning or afternoon in the area.

I'm from South Africa where glutenfree food in cafes or restaurants is not widely available. This was the first time I've ever seen a whole cake cabinet display of glutenfree cakes!
