Reviews of Erik's Fish and Chips
Z.
We were recommended to try Erik’s fish and chips by a friend in Saigon who was originally from the UK. 😅 So when we were strolling by the lake, we decided to find this place and try it. We ordered fried oysters, hoki and cod. (Another customer recommended the cod and she was right). It was delicious. 👍 The medium sized chips were enough between the two of us. I had a little “geography lesson” from my husband while waiting for the food. Thanks to the large maps inside! 😂 The staff are friendly and nice. I like eating my fish and chips with malt vinegar and they gladly gave me one. They only have soft drinks available (no alcoholic drinks). If anything, we would appreciate if they offer no-sugar options for drinks. Will come back again. 😃
W.
Quite a famous spot for fish and chips in the region, fish and fries are fresh but a bit under seasoned for our preference. Cauliflower bites are great too. Fried kiwifruit is worth a try though I didn't find it really good.
R.
Great Fish and Chips and the deep fried kiwifruit was such a treat. Loved the monk fish and the homemade chips. We will be back for more. Loved the friendly customer service and the brightly coloured dining trailer
H.
Tried Erik's for the first time today and they were absolutely the best fish and chips!
Ordered the Hoki meal deal and was very filling.
Really appreciated that everything was gluten free too.
h.
Our order here turned out to be quite expensive for a small portion, which was a little disappointing...! That being said, it was good and we enjoyed it. I really appreciate how you guys respond to every review – might drop by again soon!
I.
So good! As a gluten free person myself, I was incredibly happy to find a place completely dedicated to providing a gf menu. Simple menu done right. I got the hoki fish and chips and a donut to top it all off. Very tasty, quick and all gluten free!! Thank you.
M.
Thanks for the experience : a deep fried kiwi fruit !!
S.
I ordered the fish only dish and it didn't disappoint me as the freshness and juiciness of the fish itself can be tasted. The batter is crispy, and the fish is tender. With slight amount of salt and pepper, it's an unbelievable enjoyment to fish-lovers. There are numerous combination of fish and chips or salads to choose from the menu, even different fish types. Be sure to stop by and have a taste.
P.
Excellent fish n chips, probably the best I've had (although a little salty, maybe ask for less if you dont like a lot). The batter was almost like tempura, thin and crispy. Outstanding.
It was great for my celiac wife and son to be able to order deep fried food as a treat, especially anything on the menu.
Took a little while (20 mins) and was a bit pricey ($57 for 4) but overall was great to be able to have fish and chips!
N.
We really like the place. Our family favorite was calamari and chips - highly recommend. If you want something adventurous - try eep-fried kiwi fruit :). When we’ll be back to Queenstown we definitely come back.
E.
Fish n chips are quite good and come in a good portion size. However the deep fried kiwi and pineapple is basically pure sugar and cinnamon. That was a bit disappointing. The stuff is very friendly and helpful. Best eaten at the lakeside :)
J.
Pretty good fish and chips and decent portion size. Fish tasted fresh and chips were nice as well. Great vibe in the sitting area as well which had the ocean wallpapers. The table covering was also pretty cool.
D.
All Gluten Free and super delicious!! We had the Dory fish with Erik's home made chips for two. Sad but true, I've probably eaten more fish and chips in my life than any other food and these are the best chips ever! Crunchy outer soft centre chips. My wife loved them too.
Y.
Came here for Brunch. Like at 12 noon. Ordered their $10 Lunch Menu. Took a bit of time to come, but we'll worth the wait.
Definitely one of the best things in Queenstown to eat. The fries were hot, so was the fish. Everything tasted fresh or at least recently cooked. Compared to other places where they precook everything and keep it warm.
Would definitely be coming back once again.
U.
A really great snack bar with delicious food. The staff is friendly and helpful. We always like to come back.
S.
Great place to bring the family and enjoy some fish and chips New Zealand style...
You definitely have to go the home made chips! As you can see the kids didn't leave much food for Me to get a pic... Oh well, I guess you'll just have to come and experience it for yourselves... *smiles*
A.
Great little fish and chips shop a short walk from the beach. The fish was well-cooked and seasoned well and we were pleasantly surprised how big the calamari rings were. The calamari was perfectly cooked - firm but not tough.
D.
Good fish and chips. Fresh and clean. Seating space available on site else a short stroll away is the Marine Parade. Can try when in town - good value for money.
L.
The best fish and chips I’ve had in my life! The chips were perfectly cool, the fish was lightly battered but firm enough to hold it without it flopping. And the chunks of calamari were lightly dusted with flour and seasoning. 12/10 experience! I would eat this every day if I could! See you again tonight
M.
This place is an absolute must, if you find yourself in beautiful Queenstown. I had the Dory (took a sec to get over the Finding Nemo thoughts in my head) and it was delicious. Definitely go with their homemade chips. Also, your meal won't be complete without trying their deep fried kiwi!
A.
Erik’s was my fav place in Queenstown. I went back a few times during my stay and can say that this is one place where everything is perfectly cooked and tastes great, so try anything you like the look of!
I would recommend the $10 meal deal for a quick feed, the hoki is actually really good and full of flavour.
s.
Good place for fish and chips. You can dine in or take out or even delivered for $9-10 anywhere in Queenstown. Friendly staff, quick serving, easy ordering. We had family meal for two adults and 1 baby, it was way too much we probably finished half at most.
s.
Lovely fish and chips, we had it twice during our short stay in Queenstown :-) good portions, tasty fish & good staff. Highly recommended!
T.
My daughter loved their fish and chips. So fresh and tasty. Lots of smiley face staff welcoming you 👍
R.
Got delivery twice very tasty fish loved it and the donuts. Price is great too. I think delivery is better during the peak season cause it was busy in the area couldnt get a park. So delivery is best
J.
Super friendly customer service, the fish and chips tasted great but a bit on the expensive side (particularly the chips) for what I received. The fish had a super fresh taste which was brilliant. Would recommend.
K.
Friendly and quick service. Fresh and crunchy batter. Chips were good especially with chicken salt. Nom nom nom! It’s located in a quieter part of town centre which was nice to be away from crowds. There’s bench seating at the back and parking at the front! Highly recommended!
B.
Food was really good, small eating area but its usually not too busy, most people would get take away anyway. Pretty inexpensive, and friendly staff.
I think this one is worth a visit.
D.
The chips were pretty average, but you don't come for the chips. The fish is the main attraction. Great tasting battered fish. The deep fried kiwi was worth trying as well.
r.
No doubt Erik's Fish and Chips is so popular in Queenstown. It served the best here with a reasonable price. Always crowded during lunch time. I particularly liked its calamari and chips.
N.
Sorry but a bit average as we had better from the Catch in Wanaka. Bit of fishiness and oozed an odd amount of liquid? Bone in our blue cod too from the Queenstown branch. Not bad but not great
C.
What a cute little fish and chip shop. Must be the place to be because it was super busy but the girls worked away like little troopers and there was hardly any wait for food. Yum!! Thanks
L.
Excellent fish n chips but the night we went it was a 35 min wait. Granted it was 7.45pm and seemed most of QT was there so think the staff were overwhelmed.
The monkfish was fabulous as well as the chips. Had meant to order Erik’s chips but forgot. These usual ones were fantastic.
You can order ahead and would suggest doing that at peak times. Would have been 5/5 if not for the timing issues.
J.
Fish was fresh and fried cauliflower was great but but everything was dripping with oil. No utensils were provided so it got a little messy when eating.
B.
Placed a reservation on bookme today for 6pm. Got a wonderful meal for two at a wonderful price. Fish was super fresh and chips came out just right crispy but soft inside with just the right touch of salt. Good choice in drink selection and sauce. All in all top value eatery with good seating to be had.
M.
Order from window, pick up and eat. The calamari was amazing, it seems that all the calamari we have had in NZ is as such. Fish and chips were also battered and fried to perfection as well. Only reason I'm down one star on this is that you have to pay extra for sauce.. just caught off by this, so foodies beware.
T.
Freshy fried food, chips were thick yet well fried, they have tables in an enclosure, sadly, i dont understand why i must pay for ketchup for the chips, was hoping a complimentary condiment even if just a little. Moderately packed. Good dinner nonetheless.
A.
Best fish and chips in town! Perfect for a relaxed meal by the lake 😊
M.
The service is nice, if a bit long. However, the taste makes up for it as the chips are delicious alongside the fish, personally recommend the blue cod.
N.
Fish and chips were nice but not amazing. The calamari was alot better.
K.
So glad I found this place! We went there with friends two days ago while staying in Queenstown, had calamari, fish and cauliflower - best calamari I've ever had (no heavy oil paneer as in most other places)! We also got deep fried kiwifruit which I fell in love with. While we were passing Queenstown again today on our way from Te Anau I couldn't not go there. I asked for 2 🥝 and got 3rd one for free as the girl said they are too small, it was really nice of her 😊 the 🥝 is just perfect - well balanced between sweet and sour, also this cinnamon sugar on top mmm. I recommend with all my ♥️
N.
Love the blue cod and calamari here. The servings are generous and tasty too! Service was great and all food are gluten free!
A.
It's the best of both worlds. Food truck prices with indoor seating. The fish was delicious and made to order. No complaints here!
T.
Lovely lady serves fresh fish and chips. Variety of fish to choose from. Small sitting area available or outdoors sitting.
G.
We arrived just after it opened and ordered fish, calamari, scallops and chips. I don't think the oil was quite hot enough as everything was very oily. It was a bit disappointing.
I.
This is a moslem friendly food cart in Queenstown, New Zealand. It has a halal logo. Its Fish & chips is the primadona. It also sells seafood, meat, veges and deep friend banana & deep friend kiwi. I tried deep fried kiwi too and it tastes interesting 😂
Open: 12 pm - 9 pm
A.
Interesting little fish and chip shop. Decent menu with full gluten free. Food itself took a good 15 minutes (more than fish and chips should) but was decent food in the end.
M.
The food & portion was good. Plenty of parking spaces nearby. Anything with gluten is labelled accordingly.
A.
Best fish and chips in town. Can't fault anything about this place, good service, nice people and good food! (They have a parking spot)
J.
The blue cod and bluff oysters are some yum! Best ever, well done!! Im missing it already 😩
K.
Best fish 'n' chips and great service.
Always worth a visit and has never disappointed ❤
H.
Great food! Serving portion was more than what i expected. However, tartare and sweet chilli sauce was a bit pricy, i think. Overall, pleasant experience! 😎
J.
Just got there before the close. Great fish and chips. Battered fish just right. What a great little outlet.
Toilet and covered eating area as well as outside.
j.
A great fish n chips joint in Queenstown..fish is fresh n perfectly cooked..wanted to try d homemade chips but Dey couldn’t get it right it on d day we went but replaced it with regular chips n even reimbursed the money..Very impressed by this attitude of d owners..Shows u there r still gud ppl left in d world..Deserves five stars hands down
J.
Excellent fish and chips venue. There is an extensive menu, something to please everyone. The food was perfectly cooked, absolutely delicious! Good sized portions, too. We shared the chips. It was lovely to sit outside and look down to the lake. The staff were very cheerful and friendly. You didn't feel rushed, even though they were very busy. I can see why they are popular!
D.
Great fish n chips, recommend the lamb Hotdog, different but delicious.
J.
A mandatory stop while in Queenstown to taste the famous deep fried kiwi fruit. Very tasty, by the way! And the staff is very friendly and polite, it was very satisfying being served at this place.
S.
Excellent fish and chips at a decent price. Too good till forget to take a picture of it. Highly recommended!
T.
Best fish and chips so far! The fish was a good size and definitely fresh! The chips were hot and crispy! Enjoyed the hotdogs and the condiments topped it! If you're in the South Island, and have been travelling around wanting some good fish 'n' chips, then this is the place to go. Value for money!
d.
Loved it and especially the Kumara chips are the highlight and plenty of options for the little ones.
M.
Fish and chips was not as good as we expected. It was dry and the other side items like the fries, veggies and scallops were over fried and dehydrated. But portion wise, it was huge.
W.
Our airbnb host recommended this place and it was really yummy. The fish is fresh and reasonably priced.
F.
Lovely staff, great food and nice environment. Easily accessible Halal food in Queenstown central.
a.
One of the fish n chips in the town. Hoki, dory and blue cod fish are among the choices. Friendly staffs. Already have twice today 😁.
J.
Actually love Erik's fish and chips!!!! Outstanding and everything except the malt vingegar is gluten free. Was on a short business trip to Queenstown, but went back to Eriks fish n chips twice for dinner, once for blue cod then the hoki! So freaking good! Even got to order a gluten free donut! I haven't had a donut in years! Loved it! Fantastic friendly staff, right portion size, can eat in the cabin which has tables & chairs and a heat pump - perfect for winter!
D.
Wonderful fish, calamari, scallops and hand cut chips!! Beautifully fresh, super crunchy and extremely generous serving size.
M.
Great halal certified eatery. Had 2 meals there so. Far and pleased at the food quality.
C.
I'm giving 5⭐ due to a lovely phone call today. Because if someone can take the time to read your review, personally ring you, I feel that this is as important as the food on your plate. 100% makes up for our experience
n.
tried for the first time the 10 dollar meal, fish is by far the best ive tasted across NZ, but the chips that comes along the 10dollar meal is no good, but if you upgrade to their home made chips, i ll pay 20bucks for that meal. came back again the next day. better than Tauranga's best fish and chips. better than any other auckland fish and chips store that ive tried.
E.
So glad to find gluten free fish and chips. A rare find for coeliacs. Generous portions, happy campers all round. Highly recommend the squid pieces.
F.
We had family meals consisting battered fish, fish bites, chips and calamari. Fast order and serving.
A.
The people tending to this hip food truck were very warm. The food though was so so. The fish and oysters didn’t taste fresh at all, and the batter was crisp but not airy (tended to be quite hard). I ordered the family meal (3 pieces of hoki) along with 2 orders of the cod and 21 pieces of oysters but was only given one small thing of sauce which is good for one person. We chose the tartar sauce, which tasted like mayonnaise with a mix of sweet pickle relish. Was quite disappointed with this.
A.
The staff are really nice, but sadly that's the only positive. Had fish and chips (first visit), hot dog (tasted super weird) and potato spiral (second visit). All of it was average unfortunately. Hope others have a better experience!
H.
At first I have great expectation for the fish shop but when me and my friend went there for ordering we realized it wasn’t worth it. The staff wasn’t rude but not friendly either. The food was great but the amount not worth the price you pay for. And even though we been there before anyone else, our food came last. But I will still give the shop another go and see if anything change.
R.
Nice food truck. One of the trucks is a small room with a few tables and seats. The service was good. The portions are fair. We had chicken tenders and chips. Both were well prepared, although we would prefer if the chicken had seated for longer on a absorbing paper so as to remove more of the oil.
M.
Loved the service and the meal was awesome. Great value for money.
L.
Really tasty and everything is gluten free! Especially recommend the blue cod with tartare sauce.
J.
I got a fabulous $30 meal deal with 2 of my friends, and the worth it aspect of these fish and chips was amazing. We each got a large chunk of fish, 2 bites, and split the large fries (which is a lot of food, by the way). One of my friends couldn't even finish her food, so I took it and ate it the next morning for breakfast. This really is a great cheap eats place, especially if you go as a group and get discounted meal deals. 10/10
M.
Fast service and a good range of products available. I got the $10 meal Deal which came with Hoki, small chips and tomato sauce. It was definitely big enough to fill me up. There was plenty of both indoor and outdoor seating available, and the drinks were reasonably priced, about 3-4 dollars each. My group ordered 5 $10 meal deals and they were ready in about 10 minutes. The lady who served us was really nice and helpful. It's only a few minutes walk away from the lake, so you could go there to eat your meal if you prefer. They had many different seasonings available such as 2 different vinegars, chicken salt, salt and lemon pepper. Would definitely recommend going there if you are in Queenstown! 🐟🍟
G.
Delicious! Nothing bad to say about this place. The blue cod was fresh and the batter was super crispy. Chunky chips were also really crispy and well seasoned - Not bland and limp like the fish and chips you get at other places. Service and staff were also great. Would definitely recommend!
J.
Best monk fish in town?? I only had this one. Still very good. And the homemade chips I recommend.
L.
Got takeaway for the family last night. Personally I was not really in the mood for fish and chips but was outvoted so perhaps that colours my review. Anyways, staff very friendly and helpful and great that everything was gluten free. However I did not enjoy the food. My fish was overcooked and the batter too thick and oily for my taste. Servings were very generous though so you wont go hungry
B.
I ordered Erik's through Delivereasy after trying to order delivery on their website. My first attempt failed and I rang to change it. The person on the other line was friendly, helpful and apologetic. After placing my order and receiving it, I was slightly disappointed. I understand that the delivery time didn't help, as my food wasn't as good as it could be using the pick up service. Not willing to leave a bad review as the food was tasty, just not fresh or hot due to the time frame.
R.
We’re frequent fish & chips eaters, we’ve eaten them across UK and Australia and this was our first in NZ. We went for the hoki, homemade chips and mushy peas! By far the best chips we’ve ever had, super crunchy, chunky and soft inside. Delicious! Fish was also good, delicious crunchy batter. Eaten on a sunny evening by the lake. Perfect!
L.
So delicious!
I hadn't been to Erik's in ages, an was pleasantly surprised to find they have added lots of new items to their menu. The hand-cut chips were so good! Great service, ready on time, and a really slick way of contactless pick up! Will definitely be back often! 😊
I.
Thanks for the quick and friendly service when we were starving! Great fish and chips. Cool little shack.
A.
Best fish and chips! Friendly staff. Had them twice over the 2 days I was in Queenstown. Loved the Hoki, chips and calamari. I've compared them to the best 'fish n chips' in London and Reykjavik and they're still the best without a doubt. Not many seats but it's close to the waterfront where you can eat and enjoy the view.
J.
The hoki was light, fresh and tasty. Unfortunately, the batter was heavy/oily and as a result not crispy at all, very under seasoned. The chips were not bad. Bluff Oysters tasted a day old unfortunately, scallops were overcooked but it’s difficult to do that when frying them. No option to grill fish is a negative. Staff were friendly and the setting was beautiful. Can do better, but some good potential.
n.
Went pass by Erik's fish and chips and decided to give it a shot.
From the outside it just a food truck with a small cabin beside. But the smell seems good though.
Ordered the hoki fish combo meal and upgraded it to medium size. The size is big for me though. Couldn't finish it alone by myself.
One thing I really wonder is we have to pay for the sauce. And it is not enough for the portion.
The food itself I feel like normal. Nothing special though. So if you really want to try it's fine, but if you want try a lot of food around Queenstown I would recommend you to skip this
M.
Fantastic menu and delicious flavours. Best in town and great way to feed a group of hungry friends.
K.
Really good food and friendly staff. Would recommend 👌
M.
Fried kiwi fruit is nice so as hoki. Way too much pepper on the calamari...bitter taste.
T.
Very good. Proper chips and delicious fish.
M.
Ate here a few times whilst in queentown and it was delicious every time. Perfect for a quick bite to eat as a snack or for a filling full meal. We ate in their dining room which was clean and fresh and very importantly warm. Will be recommending to friends for sure. Also great for a backpacker budget:) thanks Erik's!!!
T.
Delicious monk fish. Friendly staff. Great value.
J.
Very generous portions for the price and quality. The fish is tender and coated in crispy batter and served with fresh, crunchy chips - literally couldn't ask for more if you're looking for your fish and chips fix!
Side note: great for a hangover - or so it seemed based on the overwhelming gratitude of a very tired looking patron that morning hahah!
M.
Fish i loved! And also their potato snack. Onion wedges were average, greasy and heavy.
B.
We ordered the $30 family pack and a few potato cakes and were not disappointed, friendly staff, good prices, fresh fish and quick service. The eating area adjacent to the kitchen was warm clean and comfortable. Just missing a little parsley garnish and a lemon wedge or two to go with the fish.
I’d eat here again and happily recommend Erik’s to others.
A.
Expensive and wasn't the bestest quality if I'm honest. Sorry but Chur was much better
A.
I wasn’t sure what to think about this place but I am so glad we went here the portions are really worth it for sure would recommend this place if you are in Queenstown best place to get crispy fish and chips
M.
Pretty good fish and chips. $10 deal
Is pretty reasonable.
D.
Excellent Blue Cod in batter, perfectly cooked calamari, great chips. So much better than anything we can get here in Oz!
Be prepared for a slightly rustic experience, it's not fine dining but it is just perfect none the less!
E.
Amazing food, would visit again. Recommend taking away and eating on Perkys boat 👌
T.
Pretty good but not great. Fishy taste on all fish, but I prefer the fishy taste of the hoki out of all of them. Wedges are better than regular fries. The calamari was the best and I'd get that again instead of the fish.
Tartarte sauce was okay... Aioli and sweet chilli the better dipping sauce cost wise and taste wise.
F.
Alhamdulillah it was pleasing to eat from Erik's with the Halal sign displayed. We had to wait for our order but it was worth the wait as the order of fish n chips was quite generous in size. Was fresh and very tasty. Thank you
P.
Enjoyed the dory battered, and if you like battered fish this is probably for you, a thin and crispy batter, and firm nice fish. Unfortunately super oily, would much prefer a Crumbed/breaded option. Some of the side dishes add up in price and aren't exactly worth their price tag but for a simple fish and chips this is one of the cheapest meals you'll find in Queenstown. Some extra outdoor seating would be nice as the place is very popular and both times we came we had to stand for 20 mins waiting.
M.
One of the best Fish n Chips we had for the first time . We are in Queenstown from Auckland n we loved the customer service from 3 lovely n caring ladies with owesum smile n love dey showed us. We had fish n chips for our dinner n left overs for our breakfast. To all visitors just go n try n definitely u will neva forget the taste n will always remember the excellent service from the team of Erik's Fush n Chips.
J.
If you're a coeliac, this concept of this place is a dream.
If you like customer service, it's appalling. The young guy serving us wanted to be somewhere far, far away and it took a long time to get our very simple order understood and then we still got the wrong sauce (discovered after we'd left).
Fish was dry, over battered and no lemon. No overly thrilled but at least hubby got to have fish and chips for once.
G.
Absolutely amazing 🎏 and 🍟 that my husband and I had and they weren't greasy. The service was excellent, they quite fast, good prices and I rather pay a little bit more $$ for good quality fish and chips!! Omg the deep fried 🍌 were mouthwatering!!! Highly recommended coming here and coming back next time when we are down. 😋😋😋👌👌
l.
Food choices in Queenstown are really great but usually on the expensive side. So on a night that we couldn't be bothered cooking but didn't want to spend a fortune on dinner, we looked up the best value eats in Queenstown on TripAdvisor. Erik's came up, advertising a $10 fish and chip pack. So we gave it a go. When we got there it looked really good and thought a $10 pack might not be enough as we were really hungry. So we opted for something a bit bigger for us and got our 10year old the $10 pack. It was great fish and chips, crispy, fresh, not greasy. We opted for their home made chips, delicious! And generous! Couldn't get through it all, should have probably got the $10 pack after all, lol! Highly recommend, yum!
S.
I ordered the Hoki with aoli sauce. The fish came out piping hot and crunchy in a quick time. There portion size was great for $6. However, I was let down as there wasn't any flavor in the batter that the fish was fried in and relies on the sauce to flavor it.
J.
A lovely food cart with delicious fish and lots of additional choices like chips with cheese and gravy or cauliflower with cheese and curry. I opted for the dory which was lightly but well battered and perfectly tender. With it I had the red onion wedges and while they were delicious the batter was heavy on some pieces and non-existent on others (hence 4 instead of 5 stars). You know what? Nevermind, their prices are so good I'm giving 5 stars, possibly the more delicious cheap meal in trendy expensive Queenstown!
N.
Crispest fish batter I've ever had. Didn't think you could make fish and chips like that. Pleasant surprise loved the food, reasonable prices, good location, quaint little place, can be busy
L.
Friendly staff, fantastic fish. I particularly like the calamaris too
S.
I had fish and chips here and had two different types of fish (Hoki and monkfish) I have to say that the chips were pretty average, but the fish was one of the best I have ever had. So crispy outside, but tender and juicy inside. I wish they gave us a slice of lemon, but they didn't. I don't know if we had to pay extra for lemon, or they just forgot to put them in the bag, but overall it was a good experience.
H.
Amazing service and delicious food. Such a treat that everything is gluten free! Could not recommend more
L.
Delicious! I enjoyed everything even the location.
A.
Gluten free fish and chips to die for
G.
Awesome fish and chips. Best in New Zealand!!
D.
The fried chips and the fish unfortunately didn't taste good on the outside. I suspect the fat in the fryer was old. Inside the Fish Was very delicious. Five stars was in 2015!
E.
Food was delicious and fresh! Staff were friendly, helpful and very open about the fact they can cater for coeliacs. Gravy cheese and homemade chips for the win !
K.
We got 2 lots of medium chips (one potato, one kumara), spring rolls and a hot dog. All very nice, normal chips a bit too fried though. Good sized portions - reasonable price.
Lovely to safely eat gluten free chips as a coeliac!
E.
Yea it was ok, probably pays to get the good fish, hoki was ok and share pack was alot for just fish and chips. Lovely staff.
M.
My buddies and I love Eriks fish and chips! We have been multiple times and every time the food is spot on and customer service excellent! 10$ meal deal is the best deal in Queenstown and you won't be disappointed with the light crispy batter and good portion sizes! don't miss the Calamari and deep fried kiwi ! Awesome to hear they have opened in Wanaka, my friends there tell me it's just as good !!

Delicious was able to sit close by watch the rugby on my phone while waiting for our order on a busy Friday night. Good size portions couldn't finish all of mine. Yum
C.
Had blue eye cod for 2 with 1 serve of chips. Good serve for 2 people. Busy, but we walked around the block and it was done. Came back 2 nights later and repeated the order with 2 bluff oysters natural each. Great service and ate on site.
K.
Delicious Fish & Chips. Friendly Staff. Fast Service. Relaxing Atmosphere. Good Prices
A.
Crispy outside soft inside fish fillets . Eating inside container to get ourselves warm
J.
Great idea. Two caravans - covered area between. One is the cooking van and the other is dine in. Good array of foods to choose from including fritter type fruits. Can't go past a decent fish and chips.
J.
Average quality, chips overcooked. Would not go again
T.
This is classic fish and chips, done superbly well. The batter is crispy, the fish meaty, and the chips are delicious (not soggy and greasy!). They have just added a dining trailer for you to sit in to eat your meal, out of the winter cold. I was served with a big smile and made to feel very welcome. Overall a 5/5 experience.
e.
Good Price.
Halal options available.
Malt Vinegar and Lime Pepper Salt makes the meal even more savoury.
A.
One of our favourites! Value for money doesn't get much better. Yummie food and PLENTY without paying a lot. I tried the cauliflower bites the other day and I am a fan. They have a tasty batter around them and a mild cauliflower taste. Nom nom nom :D
M.
The food is pretty good, and at only $4.50 for chips and sauce, it's certainly good value! The portion sizes are almost too much, not that I'm complaining! The only issue I have is the wait times, which can be quite long at times, but the food is worth it!
T.
Eriks fish and chips have got to be the best fish and chips in the world, absolutely delicious, and very innovative. You must try their deep fried kiwifruit.
P.
Nice food. Could give you 2 pieces of hoki for the price.... don't charge $2.00 for a tiny tub of sauce! Went there twice for same meal.. second meal was smaller!
H.
Staff were very friendly and warned us of the wait time ahead of our order. Unfortunately in their rush they had forgotten our potato fritters.
However, the portions were plentiful and the chips were nice and crunchy!
M.
A very good place to get tasty chips and fried fish. Prices are good and place is tidy. You get what you pay for. And the best thing is that you can also find Halal options including chicken nuggets. A must try if you are in Queenstown.
A.
Had scallops, mussels and chips yesterday but the scallops seemed really old, very hard to eat, no moisture in them at all. Mussels were similar but not as bad as the scallops. I don't mind paying the money if the food is great. The chips were great.
D.
Delicious fish and chips all gluten free. Their $10 meal deal is a huge portion and worth stopping by. Also have vegeatarian options and additional sides
K.
Every time I'm in Queenstown I have to have Erik's fish and chips or in this case the spiral.
Its definately a must do 😁😀
M.
This was my first dinner meal in New Zealand and I have been craving it ever since coming back to Australia. Will definitely revisit on my next trip! Amazing fish and chips.
C.
If you want to get great service from a fast-food place this is the place to go. The $10 meal deal is good however we bought 4 $10 meal deal 2 out 4 were extremely oily and one of the meal deal was warm and only just cooked through you could taste freezer taste. Which is unfortunate. But as I said before service was awesome.
D.
Excellent fish and chips: fresh, crispy and delicious. Also, make sure you try a fried donut and fried kiwi. Both were also delicious treats!
I.
Best fish n chips Ive ever had! They have great veggie options too.
B.
Crunchy fish & chip with reasonable price.
P.
Had their family deal, 2 hoki 6 fish bites, two drinks and 2chips, liked it. Reasonably priced. However onion wedges were way too oily and shabby looking.
M.
Ordered the family meal and it was hot, crispy and delicious! Definitely a must try when in Queenstown.
J.
Food is not bad. Shop was kind to let us park our campervan next to their shop as we couldn't find a place to park. They're pretty popular and we had to wait for 15-20mins for the food. We were too hungry so I didn't take a nice photo.
l.
turned up 2 days in a row, both nights they shut like 10 mins early, and the staff were rude and unapologetic.
edit; went back a third time to get some food, the cod was average, very pleased with the calamari, and the red onion wedges.
P.
We enjoyed the fish & chips, perfect amount of batter to fish radio. We changed our sauce from tomato to tartare and was not disappointed. Beautiful sauce 👌to accompany a perfect piece of battered hoki 🤤
T.
Overall a good experience. Calamari was fine but not sure my wife guy the monk fish she ordered. Prices reasonable, service friendly
K.
Visited January 2016 and loved it, great food, very friendly staff and very colourful uniforms, location a little strange but they were very popular so people found them easily. Recommend the Kumara wedges but everything I ordered was tasty, didn't realise that they sold deep fried Kiwi fruit or I'd have tried that as well. Must visit place on a trip to Queenstown.
A.
Awesome fish and chips! Batter is light and crispy and chips are well fried. Ample vinegar and salt. Service was fine. Recommend a visit!
d.
Nice deep sea fish served at that takeawsy

We ordered the $30 family pack and a few potato cakes and were not disappointed, friendly staff, good prices, fresh fish and quick service. The eating area adjacent to the kitchen was warm clean and comfortable. Just missing a little …
J.
A lovely food cart with delicious fish and lots of additional choices like chips with cheese and gravy or cauliflower with cheese and curry. I opted for the dory which was lightly but well battered and perfectly tender. With it I had the …
F.
Super delicous food! We're surely coming back at our next QT trip.
H.
Staff were very friendly and warned us of the wait time ahead of our order. Unfortunately in their rush they had forgotten our potato fritters. …
S.
Good fish and chips. The $10 deal was plenty for a light lunch. Definitely recommend.
A.
Try out the handmade chips they are the perfect balance between crunchy outside and soft inside. Dipped in their aioli.
More than fair prices also which is good.
J.
Very nice fish and chips.
E.
We ate here twice. Blue cod and chips and the oysters and chips. A must stop in Queenstown.
K.
Great meal on Friday night! Especially recommend the Blue Cod, red onion wedges and calamri. The batter they use is is gluten free, crispy and delicious!
P.
I loved Erik's Fish and chips, the hoki and chunky chips were delicious. Then I tried the deep fried kiwifruit and it was amazing. It is nice to go down to the beach and enjoy them
M.
Friendly staff, great food, and nice vibes! Good fish n chips with reasonable price! Recommended as well for halal dietary.
M.
I visit both trailers every so often for the amazing fish and chips, i decided to try the new breakfast burrito and a coffee out at the frankton trailer which is definitly worth the drive out there in the morning. The staff are so friendly and it's lovely that the english girl with the dark hair recognises my face and always makes time to have a conversation. 10/10 recommend to a friend.
O.
This place was cute and well situated. Was intending to give a very rating until I tasted the food; it was mediocre. Perhaps more expensive menu items are better? However the chips were hardly cooked and the Hoki was chewy.
J.
The kumara wedges and the calamari were delicious. We ordered and then went down to the Lake Front to eat with the beautiful view. We will come back next time we are in Queenstown.
S.
Just had the blue cod and kumara wedges and they were both delicious! And good service too. 👏
j.
Great portions and at a good price
R.
I was one of their first customers on opening night ! Lots of variety on the menu and made fresh to order ...good covered seating area too.Try thier Cauliflower cheese with gravy as an alternative to chips !
P.
Best fish and chips I found in Queenstown.
S.

L.
So tasty! The hoki and fish bites taste AMAZINNNG.
C.
September 2017
ok
well we went to eriks to try the deep fry banana, well that was disappointed, banana was green/raw, and didn't takes good. also the idea of have that in the stick inst too good, i would recommend cut in pieces and do that with a ready to eat banana.
P.
Above average fish n chips but very expensive by NZ standards. I guess that's what you can expect in central Queenstown though! Recommended nonetheless.
S.
Excellent customer service, staff was very friendly and very good
Food was delicious, we loved it and reasonable prices
Very very happy to find Halal food in Queenstown
See you again 😊
M.
Yummy and super busy. That speaks volumes when there is a lot of choice of cafes and food spots around. Great happy service with a fair priced $10 pack that hit the right spots.
A.
Good Fish n Chips shop in Queenstown. Friendly team n reasonable price.
A.
Clean place, crispy and yummy food, quick and polite service.
D.
Must go
I.
I have got a very nice service when I was herr, they were very kind. The 27 dlr family deal was very worth it for 3 or even 4 people. Dont forget that you can change the drinks that come with the deal for extra fish or hotdog. The place was a bit far from crowded area but not hard to find
G.
Absolutely fantastic fish and chip shop in queenstown center lovely friendly staff good was wonderful from the first to the last bite you can eat there or take a little stroll down to the Harbour and watch the world go past or get them delivered to you're hotel or accommodation.. wherever you choose to have Erik's fish and chips you won't be disappointed with the lovely food on offer
N.
Phenomenal fish, great location and quick service. Highly recommend, we went here quite a few times during our stay in Queenstown.
D.
You will taste the freshness of the fish & calamari
J.
My man Erik hooked us up big time. The only thing warmer than my double fish-mc-feast was Eriks smile and personality.
Wow.
I'm so full, and it's a fullness that comes from deep within and radiates out - not unlike the delicious golden hue of the tasty fries and fish Erik and his world class team prepared for us.
6/5 would eat again.
S.
Good fish and chips with reasonable prices. Friendly staff. Blue cod and Dory fish are really good. Spring rolls are the best one.
L.
Even though it was raining and this is in a trailer, they had plenty of shelter tables to stand at and nice warm heaters. We were then warmed up by the BEST FISH AND CHIPS we have ever had in New Zealand
d.
Lovely fish and chips. I really like the crisp of the coating, yet warm and soft in the inside.good value and halal too
M.
Beef burger was good, chips weren't bad, fish and gravy was below par. Would also be good to see crumbed fish on the menu.
l.

Great fish and chips, and unlike most other things in Queenstown - this place isn't over priced
W.
Hoki fish is so-so. Haven't tried the others. Chips (fries) are good. Fried Kiwi is nice.
J.
The John Dory is great could probably do with slightly less batter though, calamari rings are huge and all batter had fallen off. Chips are average
A.
I was here for their Dory Fish and Chips. Try their Curry on French Fries and perhaps you'd repeat your order! Very tasty 💯
G.
Great fish n chips at a cheap price. Consists of 2 20 foot containers with one as the kitchen and one as the dining room with an awning in-between
O.

G.
