Great service. Fried chicken awesome, mussels and prawns were very good. Roast beef was average. The duck was good. Expected more from sambal and rice was crunchy. Definitely recommend swapping creamy slas to veg as since when is creamy slaw served with rice!! All in all definitely recommend. Will be going back

Most of the food was great except my main of chicken in filo pastry, unfortunately it was rock hard on the bottom and almost impossible to cut and not much flavour inside, I have had nicer at the old Robbies restaurant. It was disappointing. Maybe if theres a next time we go I will order something else. Staff were great though.

We had an amazing lunch here. The service was excellent, the website was easy to book on. The food was absolutely incredible, we had the popcorn chicken and the pork belly burger. Very reasonably priced for the quality of the food as well. Gorgeous ambiance as well. Will definitely be going back!

Five stags has the feeling of a country hunting lodge. Great ambience, with the decor and the inviting fireplace. We had a late afternoon booking with great service. We had ribs, steak and roast dinners. All were generous portions and delicious. By the time we left at around 6 pm the place was pretty full. Highly recommended.

This place was a fabulous find for us after a long day. Though it did feel a little bit like we were on a wild goose chase through residential streets getting there under the guidance of google maps. From the minute we walked in we were greeted with a warm welcome, great service and atmosphere. The mains were spectacular and the dessert menu looked equally impressive. Shame we were too full. Will have to visit again for sure. Maybe starting with dessert!

Pretty good. Good food, prices are about what you’d expect, ambiance ok. Service not so attentive as one of our party has allergies and we were very specific about asking for a particular dish done a specific way and had to be returned when was not done the way specified.

Two of us came out on a 'spur of the moment' Tuesday evening trip from Christchurch to Rangiora. We thought a Tuesday night would be fairly quiet, but Five Stags was moderately busy, no spare seated tables but plenty of bar learners, which suited us perfectly. There were quite a few people there, but there was plenty of room and it wasn't too noisy. If we really wanted to, we could see a TV showing sports, but it wasn't intrusive. The service was excellent, and the food was great. It arrived quickly, was a good size and everything was nice and hot. The Chatham Island cod was great, a good size, nice crisp coating. My '60 Plus' special chicken filo was hot and crisp, and the filling was delicious. Plus the price was fantastic. Both salads were really nice, fresh and tasty, not swimming in dressing, and our chips were perfect. We really could not fault anything about the evening, and will be happy to come back again (but will probably book!)

I often pop into the Five Stags for lunch. Good-priced lunch options of very good quality & I really like the salads which are served as part of the dish. Good beer selection (including Guinness), spacious modern interior, outside shady seating, great service and free parking at the door.

I was very impressed. My meal was delivered and the main ingredient was warm but not hot. I had eaten some salad and fries before I discovered this. The waitress was very apologetic, removed my plate and returned out piping hot. It was on a new plates with fresh salad and fries. Now that is sevice. .

Nestled in the housing sector of Rangiora is this very rustic restaurant, bar. This restaurant has a definite country atmosphere with stag antlers and black and white photos around the walls. The restrooms are clean with wheelchair access provided. Lunch menu was reasonably priced with about 8 or 9 choices from chicken to roasts.

Brilliant, had my parents 40th wedding anniversary and they let us do table up. Staff were so polite and made the night really enjoyable. Will definitely be going back.

Amazing food! All three meals were super tasty 👌 there was an issue with on of the meals but the staff reacted very professionally and we were very impressed with the outcome. Make sure you leave room for dessert! Such a great range of of choices for each course too. Only reason I give four stars was there was a mix up with some of the drinks on two occasions. However this was very minor and we will definitely be back.

Just had MIL 90th. Fantastic time. Great good, catered for all as obviously a good age range. Waiter (sorry didn't get his name) was brilliant. Created rapport, helpful, made sure we were all looked after and even gave us a few laughs. Really appeeciated .

This place has nailed the local. The menu caters to most and includes a 60+ menu. The drinks options cover all the usuals. The fit out is welcoming and includes a few different nooks to dine at, including an old country shed as a semi-private room. The best feature? The service. The staff are very helpful, quick with a smile and nothing is a problem.

Lunch was outstanding! Ordered Takoyaki which was on the specials board, and was truly something awesome. It wasn't quite traditionally Japanese, yet this wasnt a bad thing at all. It was unique but still just as good. The roast was amazing too. The pork was melt in the mouth. The pudding was also awesome. I had the chocolate creme brulee tart and that was amazing. Overall the food was outstanding. If there was anything bad to say about the experience that would have to be the wait for the food. my wife and I were the only ones ordering food that I could see, so maybe it was only 1 chef working due to it being lunch and virtually empty, but im still giving it 5 stars regardless.

We enjoyed a wonderful winter evening meal at Rangiora Five Stags. We were a group of 11 people ( it is a large venue so easily caters for larger groups pre booked). After having had not so great meals/ service in the past, we did not set the bar too high, but were pleasantly surprised at how much both meals and service had improved. We had a variety of dishes around the table from salads to duck, beef and chicken, and everyone were happy with their food choices. We had a lovely attentive waitress with a cheerful personality. This is well worth checking out! We will be back! Thanks Five Stags.

Great place to go for a large meal and interesting decor. Every course arrived in an excellent time frame. All 6 of us really enjoyed our meals but I had to have mine reheated plus only 1 garlic bread slice to soak up the sauce on my pasta dish! I can't believe the negative reviews here.We went to Five stags last night and it couldn't have been better. I had the Ribs great flavors and very generous portion sizes. Great decor inside with a couple of very impressive stag heads. Emerson beer on tap. What more could you ask for. Service was excellent will definitely be going back.

Huge improvement. I vowed to never return after the most disgusting meal 18months ago. However the menu has more choices & the quality of the ingredients are of a much better standard. I have to say very impressed, great service, we had a set menu, the roast of the day was pork, as I am unable to eat pork, I asked if could have the chicken minus the slaw and have roast veges instead. Good food reasonably priced and good service. Five Stags is located on the norwest side of Rangiora. The restaurant has a great layout with plenty of space and a stained wood decor. Great for large groups but as can be expected book early so you not disappointed. Families are welcomed as they cater for small children and there is plenty of car parks directly outside. Worthy of trying out as you can a very good meal for a reasonable price. For a nice evening out try Five Stags.

Had lunch here, the food and the service were good, i guess what you expect for pub food but nothing more. Seafood chowder which i had only had one smallish piece of garlic bread, normally you get more bread than this with soup or chowder. The building is fitted out to a very high standard. I've been here a few times for drinks but finally but the bullet and went for a meal. Went in on a quiet Sunday for a late lunch and was not disappointed. The food was delicious and served in a timely manner. The staff were friendly and animated and a joy to deal with. The did and drinks are also value for money. Not the cheapest but nowhere near the high end price wise. Definitely recommend this place, and make sure you say hi as I'll be there again. 😉

Been several times to 5 stags and mostly had good meals. Went with a group of 17 for a dinner earlier in year and noticed my account was more than food prices advertised. Was told one of the group had paid my price and I would have to pay her price which was $6 more because of vegetables. Had to stand our ground asking for refund from a determined staff member expecting me to pay. Husband asked to see manager. Staff member returned with money passing it over without comment. A sad ending to a good night.

A group of us visited on Saturday night, some had been before. For those of us who were first timers, it was a mission to find the place because we were not locals but it was well worth visiting. We had a variety of meals and there were no negative comments from even the fussier diners among us. I can personally vouch for the Pork Belly (mains and entree) and my partner drooled over his Venison meal. I can guarantee we will be back sooner rather than later.

Perhaps it would be better with the mushroom bacon sauce in a side bowl so customer can decide how much to use. I would rather get a rump steak covered with that sauce, than spend that amount on a good cut, which I don't get to enjoy. Garlic bread with cheese was a borderline glamorized cheese toastie, with minimal garlic. However 3*s as it was still a good family environment, and staff were helpful. The $14.50 lunch of Chicken Filo was great value for money and as a bonus super yummy.
