Just visiting for weekend & Sunday Lunch was on the cards. Went to Armadillo's & had great food & excellent service. Atmosphere was friendly too. Will definitely go there when I next visit Nelson.

Our street went to armadillos for a meal. There were 18 of us and we pre ordered. We got our meals within a short time of arriving. They were all great, and the service was great too. We'll definitely go back. Amber was efficient and friendly.

The food was very good. Our party of eight all said their food was good. The waitress, although quite young and very inexperienced was very nice and gave good prompt service. But as in a lot of cases today, staff are not being trained correctly. No water or glasses on the table to help with food digestion, and when asked for an Irish coffee, the young waitress had no idea what it was. My daughter had to tell her that one if the bar staff should know. My daughter is an ex bar person with her duty licence and so knew the etiquette around bar service, drinks etc. But the young girl was pleasant and obliging. We were certainly not put off. We will come back again.

Probably deserves a 3 but the food was good. We wanted to change some sides on our meals and they wanted to charge $3 per change... Seems strange that a simple request for a table for 4 would have cost nearly $20 extra. Good food all in all 😊 will be coming back

Nice staff but not enough of them. Food was fine but since it's inception in Nelson I've found the food and menu choices limiting and it seems the owners do just enough to stay in business with very little effort to give a real value for money experience.

A spot of fun on the pokies while your waiting for your food to arrive. Once it hits your table, the hostess very kindly announces that your food has arrived. I give it a 4star rating.

Went there with a stagdoo- we all bought the Meal of the day!! And it was honestly great!! The food was Cheap, Good sizing/Filling, Great and friendly staff. We sat for over 2 hours and there was no pressure to move on, and the staff came to our aid often with extra water or just making sure we were happy. Definitely go there again!

This was the first time we have been to this restaurant, recommended to us by our friends. Excellent atmosphere, and terrific service from lovely young waitresses. Our waitress was very helpful and gave amazing service. She was quick and attentive with a lovely sense of humour. This is also reflected by the name of some menu items, (eg. Schnitz face.)The menu was varied with a wide range of options at reasonable( very) prices. The food was attractively served and was cooked to perfection. I , being a kai moana fan, ordered the seafood workshop, a beautiful package with a plate full of deliciously cooked gurnard with scallops and prawns, and garlic bread. The garlic bread was worth ordering on its own merits. One of my companions had pasta, which was a huge meal. We decided to get a doggy bag for him and the waitress told me with a huge grin that they only had cat bags. My wife had chicken schnitzel and thoroughly enjoyed it. My other companions had steaks, both perfectly cooked to their requested rarity. Portions were generous and well presented. The drinks were served quickly and were as requested. Looking for a meal in Richmond, Nelson? You would be hard pressed to find a better place to eat in the area or better service. Take my word; Give Armadillos a try.

Have had good meals here until last Friday night when apparently the chef was away. They would have been better off to close the restaurant because judging by the complaints, they lost a lot of custom. Also really need to sort out their service, walking in and standing at the bar waiting to be shown a table is poor and having to go up to the bar to get a drink after waiting 20 minutes with empty glasses is really poor. Some staff training needed?

We came here for lunch today, as my son LOVES steak and we say it advertised outside that $15 steak with chips and salad was on the menu. The waitress , I think Mikayla was her name, was brilliant. She was great with kids, polite, super friendly and professional. We had two steaks which were perfectly cooked, two kids Menüs (Hotdog and fish &chips) which were lovely presented and a good size and vegetarian pasta which was great as well . The only thing I could improve would be to have one vegetarian meal on the the $15 lunch menu. Keep up the great work.
