Amazing food, great coffee - the perfect place to stop on Highway 99! Lots of gluten-free options! We've had brunch, lunch and dinner here - every time the food and service was awesome!

Was recommended the café and was not disappointed. Service was friendly and fast, bakery goods are fantastic had the Moroccan chicken & Lamb curry and kids blue cod flavor was natural and balanced. Looking forward to our next trip.

We stumbled on this cafe in search of coffee and a sweet treat. We were blown away with good coffee, amazing food and the most friendly service. Can’t wait to return for a proper meal as the menu looked 👌.

What a find! Superb, reasonably priced food in a beautiful old building, with exceptionally friendly and attentive staff. It's hard to find cafes this good even in a city. I'd give this place 6 stars if Google would let me.

Only up-scale hospitality venue in Southland. Nice environment, friendly staff and great food \ coffee. Would come back if I’m in the region again.

This place is in the middle of nowhere but the food and service were exceptional! Worth a big detour to take it in. We had roast lamb and it was amazing as well as the a pumpkin white wine risotto also a very good burger. The baked goods & pastries were amazing as well. Very good attention to detail.

This is an amazing cafe. Farm to table food and great coffee. It is worth your time and custom. Kind of off the beaten path. If you are looking for lunch on your way to Fjordland, definitely stop here. Also worth it if you have been cooking in campsites for a bit and want to spoil yourself.

Stunning food, service was s bit slow but they were busy, would recommend you book unless you want to sit outside on what was a chilly day

This is an excellent cafe. It was busy when my group of friends visited. The food was great, as was the service. There was an interesting photo album showing the conversion of the old house to a cafe, and a nice wood burner. We really enjoyed our visit.

We stopped here for coffee on a wet, windy and smokey (Aus bushfires!) New Year's Day and were delighted the service and food matched the reviews. This is a delightful looking building, with a warm welcome inside from the staff, and a great display of food on the counter, and on the menu boards. We only stayed for tea, coffee and a slice, but every table around us was either filled or reserved, so many people were obviously going out of their way just for a meal. Highly recommended as a stop on the Southern Scenic Route.

What a place!!! I was driving with friends along the southern of New Zealand and we were hungry. Found this cafe and we looked at each other and said "ah it might not be the best food but let's try it". Guess what!! We were amazed of how delicious their food, not only delicious but the food presentation is equal to fine dining restaurant. Their prices is very reasonable, the cafe is clean and well decorated. The cafe owners are super friendly.

Absolutely fantastic if your doing the Riverton Beaches Highway this is a must stop lovely food & staff. Even changed the Menu for me Oysters half cooked half raw presented with chips & salad . yum yum

Discovered this amazing Cafe yesterday, had a fabulous desert snack and the best Chai I've ever had at a Cafe, the service was superb and the views breath taking, I tried to steal their cook...no success but the staff had a good laugh, gotta go back for another visit! Wheelchair access was so easy, plenty of room to move about.

Although named a cafe, it's more like a restaurant. It was suggested by a friend and I must say the place lived up to the expectations. There are quite a few different kind of platters, serve through out the day which should be fine for most (non-vegetarian) people. Their speciality is that, everything they serve are home grown (i.e. meat and vegetables). Quantity/price is compatible to "good" restaurants (average $26+). Their lamb curry is famous (but not like Indian curry, it's not at all spicy; more like Malaysian curry, bit sweet and creamy). See the pictures. Coffee (I tried Latte) was good. Lots of parking, open air and indoor seating, descent toilets; Overall, it was a great experience.

Nice place to stop. Coffee wasn't great. Buckwheat hotcakes were nice, could've used some cream rather than the non dairy choice.

We came to look for gems on Gemstone Beach, but found this gem instead! Food from their own farm, gluten-free options, wonderful coffee, lovely helpful staff.

We stopped for lunch and the food was delicious, fresh and good quality food. Definitely a place to visit. Lovely staff.

My wife and I have come here before for cake and coffee and that was great . Today we can for lunch . We had the garlic bread to start and it was fantastic. Then we moved onto our lamb curry , I've had lots of Curry's in my time and this has to be hands down on the top of them . The curry gives off just enough heat to not go to that place where you mouth is burning and still leaves room to actually taste the curry and all the love and care that went into making it. Please don't change anything this curry.

As far as being in the middle of no where the Orepuki beach cafe is tops. A fantastic cafe where you would never expect to find one. Good food nice staff.

What an amazing cafe. The location, food and service all first rate. We both had Eggs Benedict with Stewart Island Salmon which not only was the best Eggs Benedict we have had in the South Island it was beautifully presented. Totally worth the time to stop.

Worth the drive from Invercargill....or anywhere for that matter! Been here a few times; just a short stop this trip...Time enough for a great coffee and the best sausage roll I've had in a very long time. And some great mask wearing advice: use shaving foam on your glasses to prevent fogging up when wearing your mask...who knew eh! Hang in there OBC team, Covid will eventually be a dim and distant memory.

A delightful experience at a rural cafe who has a well documented history of top reviews. Lovely rural backdrop, good solid country style cooking, and good service. My husband mentioned in passing it was my birthday so the table had a birthday banner and staff were very charming. The seafood chowder was delicious with homemade garlic bread (as in own baked bread).

It is small wonder that this Cafe in the middle of nowhere has won awards for its food and drink. The service is fabulous and the food beyond belief. It is a must-stop whenever I am passing through. Make sure to try their cheese rolls ( a Southland delicacy). Actually anything on their menu is marvelous. And while you are in the area, make sure to visit Cosy Nook. A hidden photographer's gem.

Beautiful food, exceptional service and not too pricey either. Fabulous place to go to get away from it all and enjoy some peace and quiet in wonderful surroundings. Dogs welcome if you're seated outside. Just perfect.

Warm, welcoming cafe with great service and delicious food. I had the soup of the day (French onion) which was finely presented and very tasty. Coffee was also nice. The Orepuki Beach Cafe is a great place to stop and relax after facing the wind and rain of Southland!

Nice place. Good service. Lovely and clean 🙂 had the eggs benedict with bacon . Very nice could have down with a little bit more flavour in the sauce would have made my day. Right next to the driveway down to the beach has outdoor seating for those who want to sit in the sun. Serves breakfast lunch and dinner. Heaps of off-street parking 😊 highly recommend to go there for a quiet lunch or a nice evening meal!

Lovely atmosphere, by the fire on a cold wet day. Menu had a great selection... which made for a difficult choice! Definitely want to go here again.

My meal was beautifully presented, staff were great and it was a nice atmosphere there. I ordered Lamb chops, which unfortunately were cooked too rare for my liking - it may have been nice if they had asked how I preferred it cooked and Im sure I would've enjoyed them then. I had Carrot cake for dessert and it was divine, a lovely large serving and I would recommend this.

Fantastic place. A real gem to find when touring the countryside. Came in with a big party and everyone was very happy with their meals as the menu was well thought out and well executed with a farm to table philosophy. One of the party has a policy of trying the eggs bene at every cafe he has ever been to, you guys now proudly sit atop the list of the best he has ever had ☝️👍👍

This cafe is a wonderful gem. If you are passing through, as we were, make sure you stop in. The hot chocolate was one of the best I have had in NZ. The coffee is excellent and the cakes ... yum. The meals menu looks great and we would have tried it out but it was neither lunch nor dinner time.

We often drive 45-50 minutes on the weekends to come here. Well worth the trip. Food is always authentic and cooked with love. Fantastic service. It's a good idea to book first though as they are always busy. This said, we've never been turned away. Awesome casual restaurant/ cafe. Highly recommend

Excellent food fit for a foodie and great, fast service. The rib-eye sandwich was one of the best I've ever had with a great mix of salad, fresh tomatoes, home-made horseradish and homemade chips. Cheesecake was very good and coffee was excellent. The other person in our group had the cod dish and a ginger slice and both were also excellent. Will stop in whenever I am in the area.

Awesome place to stop at for a coffee or meal. We stopped in here for a coffee and snack before heading to Orepuki beach on a chilly damp Sunday. Lovely and cozy with the fire going. At the time only a few people here but on our return we stopped off for lunch and the place was packed. Thankfully they found a table for us and we so enjoyed our blue cod meals. Everything about the meal was scrummy. Well worth a trip to enjoy good food.

One of the nicest places I have been to for ages The staff were great, the food was amazing and full of flavor, the meals were not small but were a very good sized helping,leaving me more than satisfied, the atmosphere of the restaurant was great and a awesome out look around the countryside. I fully rate this cafe/restaurant and would recommend the drive if you are looking for a great bite to eat .

Came from Invercargil for breakfast here due to rumors of the place. It lived up to the rumours and more, amazing food, amazing service and smiles all round. Cheers guys! Worth the drive!

Third time here -- we can't stay away! Cappuccinos are delicious; the seafood chowder w/ garlic bread had incredible flavor and very filling; the burger was super juicy and had wonderful farm fresh ingredients and a homemade bun; the carrot cake was exquisite, rich and beautiful; the lamb curry was so pretty (and super filling I had to take half home to enjoy it twice!) The service is incredible and they are so warm and inviting. Just go here -- you won't regret it! Worth every dollar!

We were recommended here by the staff of the Niagara Falls Cafe - another place that has excellent grub. Food was scrumptious and the lady who served us came from a town in England close to where we come from, but many years ago. Don't go past - stop and enjoy the ambiance, coffee and good food.

Lovely setting in Orepuki in a well restored Villa, only approx 40 minutes from Invercargill via Riverton. Good selection of food available, they can cater for special dietary requirements, just let them before hand. Our meals were well presented, fresh and tasty. They did check on our group several times to make sure we were OK, as it was very busy preparing xmas. Good experience overall although we thought the Mooca Cheesecake portions were a bit small for $9. Well worth a trip out there to enjoy the food and atmosphere and look at the pictures/art on the walls.

Beautiful beach, goes for miles. Probably great on a nice day and the tide is out. Don't go panning for Gold as there's a couple of claims down there so know before you go otherwise beautiful place.

Stopped at the Café to have lunch with two children. Food (Lamb Curry and Cod) was great! Kids meal (Cod and Fries) was great, came with some fruit. Most of the times, kids meals are nothing I'd like to eat - different here.

This place is a MUST! It was such a pleasant surprise on our trip to NZ. If you are staying in Queenstown or Te Anau make the journey down south to the ocean and eat here. Brian and Penny greeted us and fired up the kitchen for my favorite meal in New Zealand. They locally farm the produce and meat and Penny cooks home style meal for you. Excellent food, fast friendly even though it was extremely busy

Really wrapped with our dinner here. Friendly folk and everything we ate was perfect. Recommending the Blue Cod, the Rib eye and the Ginger Slice.
