Our rating had been 5-stars for so long, but sadly, more recently we had to reduce our rating.
The staff and environment are still fantastic, but the food has been a real let down recently.
The food used to be a real treat, but over time our meals became less accurate, with some ingredients left out or substituted occasionally. Sometimes the descriptions of the dishes didn't seem to match what we had ordered.
Recently the menu had an overhaul, and our three favourite dishes were changed or removed. The new changes are not for the better, and are not worth the value. The cowboy burger specifically used to be fantastic, however all of the ingredients have changed, but the name remains the same. This was quite confusing and a little disappointing when we ordered it.
The salads used to be very unique, and worth the 20-ish dollar price-point. A variety of ingredients, including noodles, nuts and rich dressings. However, we ordered the Halloumi salad for around $20 and it was mainly leafy greens. I counted 2 and a half cherry tomatoes in mine, and not much of the other toppings either.
We hope the food can get back up to the original standard soon! We will still return for the friendly and inviting atmosphere.

I had the three sausage meal which was good, my wife had the pork belly which was beautifully tender (the crackling was very salty but when drunk with the suggested cider was just right).

Settled for a "Mother Clucker" chicken and roast vege meal and my man his usual steak option, done medium rare. His pale ale and Drivers choice - lemon, lime and bitters came promptly so we could relax and chat before dinner arrived.

My husband and I each ordered the burgers (need for him, pork for me) and it was really yum. They remembered to exclude the items my husband didn't want in his burger. Both burgers were cooked perfectly with good flavour, and the fries were hot n crisp and well seasoned.
Oh, and the young woman that was our server was friendly, efficient and made sure we were not short of a drink (if wanted)
Glad we chose the Silver Dollar for that first lunch "out"!

It is a large open venue (not ideal for intimate dining) and we dined upstairs but didn't notice too much in the way of background noise, so the acoustics are good.

V. P.I have been to the Silver Dollar twice over the past week. The service was excellent and they dropped us home in the van (even though it was busy and the driver had the day off). The second time was Saturday for breakfast. We arrived just after the lunch menu had kicked off but they accommodated us with Eggs Bennie and it was very good. I recommend the breakfast but be in before 11am. The cafe is new and are still having a few teething problems, once these are ironed out I will be giving a 5 star rating. Great to see a new venue in Rolleston and I'll be back for dinner again this week as the menu looks fantastic (although portion size is massive and far more than I could ever eat).

B.August 2018 - I went there for lunch based on friend’s suggestion. This is a bar and restaurant; a standard gastro pub fare. It is located across the main entrance to I-Zone industrial park but still situated within the industrial zone. Everything was presented well, the restaurant dining area is located on the right as you walk in, while the bar dining area (with high chairs and tables) is located on the left. The bar area is situated in the middle.
There are 12 different beers on tap, and also in bottles. I decided and ordered one pint of Monteith’s Golden Lager (I’m a lager person) and beer battered blue cod fish (served with fresh salad, fries and house made tartare). I must say, the meal came out within 10 minutes of ordering, and the beer battered blue cod was nicely cooked. Crunchy coating and is not overcoated. However, the beer battered fish fillet was small and they only gave one piece. I would prefer if they can use a large fillet or two small fillets. The salad was fresh, the fries were nicely seasoned (tasted yummy) and the meal goes well with a cold beer.
Lovely staff with a welcoming atmosphere.

J.Went to silver dollar recently with my family and was served by a lovely waitress with dark hair in a ponytail (did not get her name), she was very well mannered and made our night extremely pleasant, she went out of her way to always make sure we were happy and that everything was perfect. Our waitress had recommended the pork burger which I thoroughly enjoyed! Overall, food was decent, and drinks and meals came efficiently, however, service was definitely the highlight though.
