A tiny little place that offers great friendly service with a variety in their meals. We went on new years day ..summer time can become very hot to sit inside the restaurant and eat. We were very hot ..some fans might be very helpful. But the meals and the portion were worth it.

First time at Ali Baba's and first time having Tunisian Cuisine. We went there on Good Friday, of course the place was very bussy and you could see the staff (I should say the family, as it is a couple and their son) doing their best. We ordered and the waiter (the son) let us know which dishes were the fastest and the delay that may be in other mains, we were on holidays and we were more than happy to wait while having a Turkish Melon soda. We ordered a Tajine Jelbana and a kascrute (Lamb option). Both dishes were AMAZING!!! The flavours and spiciness of the harissa in the tajine, and the amazingly tenderness (for real, i think this is the most tender chunks of lamb i've ever had) and flavour layers of the Kascrute, thw home made bread was extremelly delicious! I have never been to a Tunisian cuisine restaurant before but i am sure that i am gonna have a hard time trying to find a place as authentic, fresh and delicious. The staff (The whole family) were amazingly friendly and we left a well deserved tip. 100% recommended!

So nice we had to go back for a second time. The rice and pasta dishes are so unique to anything I've had, definitely not an Indian curry. The pizza had the most delicious capers and black olives on it was a nice sweet chilli sauce and cheese cheese that mellowed out the sweetness. Perfect.

Wandering around Rotorua City center, we saw this restaurant with beautiful interior and decided to jump in to taste something new and guess what, we were not dissappointed by the tasty, spicy and traditional Tunisian food. But above all is their service especially the old lady on the counter explained everything in detail and helped us in deciding our meal. Food here is just amazing. May look like a kebab shop from the outside but everything on the menu is so unique and genuinely authentic in flavours. The Berber chicken - was the best but the Tunisia rice was good as well. Kascrute another must try. We are surely coming again and again to try the rest of the items on the menu. We were a big group so was hard to find a big table and orders took a bit of time as it was Saturday night and the restaurant was very busy. But the food was worth the wait and staff was lovely.

Walking around in downtown Rotarua we were excited to stumble across this place. First, it has great prices, and secondly the portion sizes were on point. The food was delicious and I always appreciate trying food that is not so mainstream. We got two dishes and shared and I'd love to tell you the names but I can't remember! I'll just post the pics. Anyways, to top it all off the owner came out and let us try some potential creations. He was super kind and so was the rest of the crew. Highly recommend!

Tasty, filling food, good value for money and you can even eat in very cool Tunisian looking surroundings if you wish! I was greeted by a young chap who was friendly and offered good and fast service. Took about 15min for my wrap. Recommend the falafel wrap for vegetarians. Ask for the hot chilli sauce and some jalapenos if you are a spice lover! I'm stuffed. Time for some sleep.

I love trying new places to eat. I had one night in Rotorua, leaving me one chance to pick a good place to eat. I picked Ali Baba’s, and if I had a second night and a second chance to try something new I would have used it to go back to Ali Babas. Amazing kebab. Although is not usually a negative thing, the portions were massive, way too much and the two of us could have eaten with only one dish. It is very much spiced so it was not a great experience for us but if you like strong flavours and Tunisian food your experience might be different.

Wife and I went there few days ago for a simple dinner, turned out they had really good menu! Authentic from Tunisia, being a country next to Italy and France, they have really fantastic pasta and pizza! Got the 'Ali Baba' pasta, one of a kind pasta with deep flavoured spiced coconut paste and soft succulent lamb shavings. We also got the 'sultan' pizza, the mozarella cheese that they used was very soft and melts in your mouth! - That just highlights the quality of ingredients that they used! Wished that we stayed a few more days so that we can try all the different pasta and pizza. Or even better, open a branch in Auckland so that more people can experience your Tunisian cuisine! (and we can get our cravings satisfied!)

A fantastic lamb kebab, which is what I was really wanting. They have a nice little outdoor seating area for dining under roofing, so it’s good rain or shine. The kebab was a good size and left me satisfied without overdoing it and made relatively quickly. Next kebab urge (if I’m in the area) will be settled with a visit here.

Not your usual kebab shop This cafe does serve the usual kebabs - but there also are some interesting Tunisian rice and pasta dishes on the menu. We tried a chicken and rice dish with an Amazigh (tomato and coconut cream) sauce and a falafel salad. The food was really good - delicious and full of flavour and spice. It was very well priced and the service from the young man on the counter was exceptional.

Nice tunesian restaurant that serves traditional dishes. We got a couple of pizzas that were very unusual and exciting. The only meat you can get on the pizzas is chicken, but it is still delicious and the cheese is so good! The rice dishes that left the kitchen were big and look pretty good too. We are regulars at Ali Baba - my personal favourite is the kaskrute - a delicious mixture of kebab meat cooked with cream cheese and spinach and spices and then folded into a flat bread and baked until it's crispy. My husband likes the pizza, with a tasty selection of flavours and enough spice to satisfy his tastes. Generous portions and seriously good cooking :)

If I could give this place 10 out of 5 I would. The service was fantastic but the food cannot be described in any way other than godly. Ali baba has broken me as a person. The fact that I won’t be able to consume any of this turnisian perfection when I go back to Australia genuinely depresses me. I cannot stop thinking about how beautifully soft the lamb was and the crispy deliciousness of the bread. In my sleep I chant Ali Baba. I think I might have found true love.
