I ordered the fish burger combo today. Burger was good, chips were ok - only downfall was there was no seasoning on the chips. The customer service wasn't great but there wasn't a long wait for the food. Best thing was that there was covered seating outside. I wouldn't mind visiting again to try other dishes.

Came to Oppies as it was a short walk from our motel. Ordering online was a breeze! The steak meals are huge and cooked perfectly. Will definitely be buying again when we come back

Great restaurant with different kinds of food available. Tasty Chinese food and normal takeaway food on the menu. Good value, large portion and reasonable price. The chef special burger behind only costed us 8.5 dollars which got egg, ham, meat, vegetables. It’s quite big that I couldn’t even finish it. The fish and chips is very crispy and fresh. We didn’t finish that as well. So we brought the leftover fish back to Auckland that night...

Wow, grew up in Rotorua and walked passed Oppies almost every day to school. Loved it for lunch the other day. Great fish portion, crisp with a free lemon slice. Lovely tone and crunch to the batter. Beautiful chips. Great treat on a cold winter's day or any day for that matter

Fried rice was delicious and very generous with the BBQ pork and the hoki was so fresh and flaky. The squid however was not very good and the coating had a lot of baking soda that you could feel on your teeth as you ate. Definitely go but don't bother with the squid.

Decent fish and chips, though a scoop of chips seems a bit miserly for the price. You're better off with some of their other offerings like Chinese, which offers better value IMO. Nothing wrong with the quality of any of their food though.

Wow. Well that was unexpected. Travelling around NZ from OZ. Best seafood sticks anywhere, ever. Super fresh and tasty calamari rings. Second best battered fish anywhere, ever. We wished we'd ordered more. Tip - Follow the road Oppies on all the way down to the water for a great view. FYI - Seagulls, ducks, geese and swans line the shoreline on mass, so you may need to guard your hot chips.

Oppies fish and chips is a somewhat well regarded takeaway store in Rotorua; the place represents excellent value for money and the food is pretty good. We ordered plain 'ol boring fish and chips and it did not disappoint. Parking is limited in the area and whilst there are tables to dine in; it's really a take away store. We went there on a rainy evening and the wait for food was not too long. Anyone visiting Rotorua should pop by if they want a cheap and food feed.

Reordered the pork belly because everyone just loved it. Crunchy and tasty. Service is just what you should expect when you go to takeaway foodstore. Plenty of space, few tables and seatings. The place is known for its sumptuous portion of fish and chips, that tastes fresh and not to oily. Its worth a visit if you are coming down to Rotorua.

Ordered Fried Rice Trip home approximately an hour and a half to and was tired so stopped to order fried rice. Food was tasty and I didn't have to wait long but have given a star less because I asked when ordering whether they use Gluten free sauce and the reply was "I don't know what sauce they use" and there was no offer to check. For such a special store, where overseas visitors used to frequent because of reviews, this was sad. I hope they improve in this area.

Had to snapper fish and chips. The fish was decent - fairly small piece though. The fries were nothing special- maybe even frozen. This is supposed to be the best but I’ve definitely had better as far as fish and chips go. My friends had the Chinese food and said it was very good.

They boast their awards and so me and my partner decided to try it out but it was a bit disappointing. First, the inside of the restaurant wasn't as clean as it should be such as sticky and oil marks on the table. Secondly, they need to drain out oil before serving it to customers as our chips and spring rolls were soaked in oil.. We couldn't finish due to this reason. I think this establishment was an amazing place when it first opened but the standard isn't where they say to be.

The cops were nice and crunchy on the outside, fluffy on the inside and also tasted fabulous. Would have no problem recommending these guys to anyone!

Looks good inside. Updraded from last time we were there. Nice dining area. Ordered 4 different items. Hot dog was okay and I finished it but we couldn’t finish the chips. Picked certain ones out. He had the curry roll and fish, and said the curry roll was he better of the two but this is just from our experience. Most likely won’t be back but we have said that before: just wanted to give it another go. Some people rave about it but sadly on this particular occasion, it wasn’t for us. Still give it a 3 anyway.

Saturday night and there was a large queue. The staff were great and despite the place being busy I only had a 15 minute wait. The fish was on the pricey side at $5 a piece but it was fresh. 5 pieces of fish and 3 scoops of chips was plenty for 3 hungry adults.

A bit overwhelming after a while when everything in the box is deep fried. The fish is pretty fresh, though. I would suggest sharing a portion unless you are feeling particularly hungry.

Wonderfully made food. The fish and chips is by far my favorite item on the menu. There is also a large selection of Chinese food and it all always comes out fresh and delicious. One odd thing is they request change in exchange for cutlery. If you don't have spare pocket change make sure you bring your own fork!

Best fish burger is town. You get proper battered fish in it...not some processed nasty pattie. It's huge and deelish. Makes me hungry thinking about it.

Best place for meals, they really are the best and deserve 5 star ratings, if your feeling hungry and can only afford certain amount of stuff, this is the place to go. They have an online app and delivery option, so there is no need to leave your home, just go to the app, make your order for pick up or delivery, and barista (Made fresh for you in just under 15 minutes tops)

Thought I'd grab some sweet n sour pork last minute. Walked in just after 6pm and was met with a whole heap of people waiting for their orders. Ordered and asked wait time -it was 20 to 15min. It was on time. The meal was huge and value for money ($14),as I had enough for lunch the next day. Just the right amoint of sauce with lots of meat. Tasty as. Could've done with abit more carrot and celery, but now I'm being pedantic. Well worth it. There's a reason there were lots of peolpe at Oppies... Definitely recommend and will be back.

Always preorder as they can take a long time and parking is very limited. Tarakihi fish and chips most favourable. Supa sausages are the tastiest. Burgers are exceptional. You pay 2% extra for credit card payments which is very sad considering the awards being won. So overall not a great scoring it lacks for location and extra charges.

Awesome Fush & Chups - rated as New Zealand's no. 1 its certainly fantastic value and a great place to grab a quick bite. If you're not up for the quintessential Sunday night dinner staple, then maybe some cuisine from the Orient? There is a large range of Chinese cuisine also offered from Oppies. Staff were friendly and helpful - letting us know that one dish may take 30mins to prepare when we were after a quick bite. The food it self is awesome portion size - I should have split the 'snack' box with my wife, we had one each, thinking it was a mere snack. Each box is a set meal and is high on flavour, value for money and customer satisfaction. Definitely worth it!

I haven’t had fish and chips in a long time, and Oppies helped to satisfy my craving. It stalls like a chipper when you walk in so you know you’re in for a good treat. The chips looked as though they were home made but uniform cuts were a dead giveaway - nothing wrong with that. They have a selection of fish for battering - gurnard, terakihi, snapper, John Dory, etc., which is a nice option if you’d like upgrades. Fresh oysters are available when they are in season. Plus all the other usual fryer dunkable selections of sausages, hotdogs on a stick, donuts, fritters of banana/pineapple/potato/Paua/mussels/oysters, all coated in their signature batter. Even though it’s wrapped up in a usual paper bundle, don’t let this fool you. Your order will still retain its individual taste.
