G.Charming little Malaysian restaurant where you least expect it, Nanyang Flavours offers delicious takes on classic dishes such as (but not limited to) hainan chicken and nasi goreng. There are also quirky dishes like marmite chicken, which are absolutely worth a try.
If you're ever passing through Shannon this is definitely a worthy lunch stop!

H.Absolutely stoked to have found this little gem of a place.. after recently moving to Palmerston North from Wellington I have struggled to find good Malaysian food.. I don’t have to look no further I have found my local. Staff were awesome. Nice and clean and their chicken curry is amazing!! Their chicken corn and egg soup was also incredible. Can’t wait to try something else next time
C.Date night tonight took us to Shannon! Who would've thought! 😳 New Restaurant, yummy food! Was so good! And cheap for what you are getting. The staff were lovely, polite and apologetic for the hold up as they were very busy. I think they have probably exceeded expectation of how busy they possibly thought they would be. They also have takeaway. Definitely going back to make our way through the menu!
P.Food was unreal. Portions were huge for the price. Definitely recommend to anyone in the area. They have made an effort to make it an experience for kids also. Owners are lovely people that deserve all the success coming to them. Will 100% be back.

M.Awesome new restaurant here in lil Shannon. Such an asset to the town, with reasonable pricing, lovely and dedicated staff, large serving sizes, and a beautiful aesthetic.
The entrees in particular are fantastic, but I'd recommend refraining from getting both a main and a starter, as the serving sizes will have you bursting at the seams.
All in all a charming restaurant, keen to keep supporting this cool local business.

We had a sizeable group for a family members birthday and they went out of their way to make it special.
We chose to order multiple meals for the table to share, which worked very well.
For starters, the spring rolls were particularly tasty, but the curry puffs and satay sticks were also very good.
For our shared mains, the Mee Goreng was a notable star, the Malay Fried Chicken was surprisingly succulent and tender, while the chicken curry was a big hit as well. The Beef Rendang, Nasi Goreng, Sweet & Sour Pork, and of course the Chicken Rice were all well received.
Thank you so much to all the staff, we will absolutely be back!!
K.Wanted to try this new Malaysian restaurant in Shannon, we had the Sweet n sour chicken, Lamb curry and the Malay mee Goreng, it was all absolutely scrummy.
I don't live there but not too far away so will definitely be back.

S.Have had a takeaway here a couple of times now and it's definitely worth the drive from Levin. The meal was delicious filling and affordable at $13.50 . If you are passing through Shannon or struggling to decide what takeaway to have tonight look no further.

M.Hi went for dinner Friday night. Wasn't expecting a restaurant in Shannon to be full After having our meal I know why. The Rendang was amazing. I haven't had one that good since I worked in a Malaysian restaurant in London. The chicken satay was soo good. My friend enjoyed the bao buns and sweet and sour chicken. The service is so very polite and the young lady was very professional. We are already looking forward to our next meal with you.
