Reviews of Brick Bay Wines & Sculpture Trail
D.
An awesome blend of nature and sculptures. The walk is not designed for people with limited mobility, but there are lots of seats to rest on.
The sculptures are well presented and you have to look for a few of the hidden gems as they blend well into the background.
Unfortunately the restaurant was booked out so we didn't get to try it, maybe next time and as they regularly change the pieces we'll likely go again.
F.
No fuss came in for a quick lunch on a Friday didn't had reservations but kind enough to accept us. Busy but service was friendly and nice. Well priced meals amazing ambiance we were blessed with an amazing weather that noon. Just amazing views wine were great, I should've bought a bottle next time will do
J.
We enjoyed our visit to Brick Bay. It was a rushed visit, though we still got to do a lot.
The sculptures were interesting. The Glasshouse Restaurant overlooks the lake. We did not go to the restaurant though got a great cup of coffee before we left.
It’s a great place to take the family. They have swings for the kids and we spent time collecting fallen maple leaves which were an abundance of Autumn colours. Highly recommended.
M.
food & service were excellent, followed by a leisurely walk around the sculpture trail. Made it even more interesting by a family game of each of us trying to guess the price of the sculpture pieces... made for a nice family day out.
M.
Fantastic place to visit. We spent almost two hours on the sculpture trail alone. Great food too and good to do with kids. Would recommend wearing proper walking shoes for the trail though. Be early as they get busy quickly.
P.
Very comfortable environment, right by wineries, sculptures surrounding area. Service is professional, family friendly. Food is average, nothing to standout to match the price.
G.
We only did the sculpture trail and thought it was well worth it! Others in my family had visited 2 years prior and was amazed at the number of sculptures that had changed, making it great to visit more than once. It was unexpected, creative and fun. Put your walking shoes on because it's a journey as you walk through bush within the Brick Bay grounds to find the 60ish sculptures. Restaurant there if you want a bite to eat after, but is on the pricer side.
A hidden gem!
G.
Love this place! Beautiful scenery especially during the autumn. Nice wine, food and friendly staff. Arancini was a bit cold but except for that everything was amazing. Definitely will go back!
T.
Food was very good and service staff excellent.
Nice atmosphere and enjoyed the sculpture trail after lunch.
My first time there but would certainly return to try some more of thier menu.
T.
It’s lovely Place. It can be a good place for small birthday gathering as well as the place is quite cozy. Staff are friendly and accommodating. Food are good and well presented. Will surely com back here and The next visit I will surely take photos of the food.
L.
A special place for my mother and I. We love looking out over the lake as we enjoy a platter and a glass or two of their beautiful wine. The sculpture trail is always fantastic with different updates each time we visit and the service is always impeccable.
S.
Lovely location, worth the trip to get there. Totally enjoyed the platter for two. Café is set amongst a park of interesting sculptures if you wish to pay to walk around
M.
Great place to visit! The setting was lovely and I enjoyed the wine tasting. There were lots of different food options. I had a vegan dish and the staff were very helpful and accommodating!
a.
A winery that also has a sculpture trail - how great’s that!
So much of the food served is produced or grown on the property itself! Really friendly and chilled staff, delicious wine, gorgeous food and a to die for view from the restaurant! Will be back!!!
V.
Set along an off-the-road setting overlooking Brick Bay and Snells Beach, 'Brick Bay Wines' is a hidden gem. Dog friendly, child friendly, senior friendly - in general and overall really FRIENDLY ... these guys know how to please! The food is sumptuous, using many fresh herbs, flowers and greens from their own gardens, the wines and honeys; ooze character as they are grown and collected on-site. The gardens sprawl across what seems like 'acres' and the lily ponds give the feel of calm and peace. Walk around the sculpture park and be dazzled with works from contemporary artists and then rise through the magnificence to see the hidden Kauri forest; serene enough to have a 5 minute meditation whilst sitting on the sculptured Kauri log seating; before heading back for lunch! Don't waste time thinking about it - just run along now and BOOK!!
PS. Make sure your COVID VAX passport is in order! ;-)
M.
Lovely place and peaceful surrounds. Nice for a family day out but a decent number of undulating steps which makes it difficult for strollers. Take bubs in a carrier if you can!
P.
Went to lunch for an 80th birthday, nice venue, and the food was very good, with a nice menu choice, definitely a vast improvement from my last visit.
I certainly would go back again.
Y.
The walk route takes about two hours.
Café is so good atmosphere/ambience, I would recommend visiting for this purpose.
A.
We went on the Trail and didn't know what to think as I'm not an arty sort of person but I am know. Simply amazing and even better when your with someone special. Awesome place👌
S.
Had a therapeutic walk through Lotuses and Utopian sculptures. Cafe has a unique and immersive character.
S.
Great experience, fun for my 8 year old to search for sculptures and learn about different types of art. Heard the wine is great 👍🏼
S.
Great place! Lovely trail and super glass house restaurant. Very friendly and accomodating with your personal needs. Food does not match price for taste or quantity. Pretty good though. Highly recommend to try if you haven’t already. Thanks for such great service and fabulous views!! Loved the experience overall.
J.
Beautiful grounds, the food is out of this world, very interesting and unusual menu. Unfortunately were unable to try the wines (too much wine the night before) but will definitely be back to do the tasting! There were some really appealing options on the wine list!
Great spot for a family outing or a romantic meal. Dog friendly
B.
Lovely walk with fascinating sculpture weaved in the nature around. Nice restaurant
C.
Dined in, had the market fish which was great. Everyone at the table enjoyed their meals, no complaints. Rose was delicious.
Did the Sculpture trail afterwards, takes about at hour, nice walk, interesting sculptures some which are interactive.
S.
A beautiful place to stop for delicious food and wine. Great walk through the grounds admiring the different sculptures, real treat for the eyes. A relaxing spot not far from Warkworth, take your family n friends, and the kids will love running through the forest exploring the trail. It's quite popular for lunch, so I suggest booking online prior to heading out to avoid disappointment 😊
T.
It is really one of my favorite. Quite and beautiful, customer service is good as well. Most of the food is good. But if you need to eat because you are hungry, not recommend to try the platter. The track is awesome, too.
N.
Especially beautiful place, midsummer season also just to enjoy the lotus and water lily
L.
Excellent venue for small and large groups. The setting is beautiful. We did the walk after lunch and it is extremely well maintained ... no complaints only compliments from our group of 13. Special mention about the platter, so delish
H.
The Sculpture Trail is a wonderfully inspiring experience, both visually and audibly, with some hauntingly beautiful sound tracks along the way. Because of my husband's current disability, it took us nearly 2 hours to do the circuit, which I didn't mind, as it gave us time to enjoy the walk and the various installations at our leisure and for me to take lots of photos!
C.
We absolutely loved this. Dogs are welcome, the sculptural tour was stunning, the pond with the water lilies were magnificent, and the art was so unique, well designed and beautiful. We finished the tour with a fresh glass of Rosé wine and the best apple crumble gelato desert. We will come again that is for definite, and I recommend it to anyone.
B.
We went to the restaurant for brunch and walked around the sculpture trail. The food and wine were top notch and the service prompt and friendly. The trail is a must see! Five stars all round.
R.
Well worth a visit for the food alone, good selection at fair prices. The sculpture trail has good variety in a neat setting. Must come back for a wine tasting session 😁
L.
Really interesting and thought provoking walk. Over 60 sculptures amid a comfortable bush walk. On your return eat at the restaurant. There's a discount if you have done the sculpture trail.
J.
Great place with great service. From the moment you arrive the staff are friendly and wanting to make your visit memorable. Great idea having a grazing option from 3pm - Great idea for catching up with friends over a platter and of course -a bottle of the wonderful Brick Bay rose!
M.
A great outdoors activity for friends, couples and/or families. Gets the heart rate going as one observes various sculptures in a rural natural bush environment. Can be done at leisure while taking it all in. And to finish it off, a playground for the children and a cafe for the adults. Great all round experience.
I.
Awesome trail, toddlers loved it. Food also on an awesome level
D.
It's amazing; art sculptures are a bit questionable in price, which is what makes the place si unique, food, and drink amazing. Staff are friendly and welcoming 10/10, coming back for friends' birthday soon to finish the art path. 😆😆😆
A.
First experience at Brick Bay and won't be my last, loves my new little local ❤️
M.
Beautiful setting, wonderful art, friendly and attentive staff and a beautiful meal. Sculpture trail was great value for money and the food 4/5 stars for value.
A recommended place to visit and we will come again.
C.
Absolutely a beautiful place to dine at. I would definitely recommend doing the sculpture trail. It's soooooo pretty. Just make sure you bring comfortable shoes with you for walking. The staff are friendly in their service and manner. It is a pretty busy restaurant (or on a Saturday at least), which I like because I met a whole bunch of people from different backgrounds. Defs reccommend, enjoy !! xx
L.
Great atmosphere with friendly and efficient stuff. Love the sculpture trail. Parents can taste enjoy wines and kids have a playground close by.
Definitely coming this summer..
My advice to people who want to visit or to dine do a reservation before coming.
V.
Wonderful atmosphere, nice place, good food and wine
J.
Absolutely amazing, the food was delicious and the customer service was excellent. I can see why it is so popular. The squid was once of the best iv had and the lamb was super tender. The sculptures were a nice part aswell, definitely worth checking out if you have a spare hour after a meal.
J.
What a special place!! We had a wonderful time at Brick Bay, came by for lunch and later we went on the sculpture trail. The restaurant has amazing ambiance with its gorgeous view of the lake and the staff are so nice. The lovely waitress from Holland, kudos to her, amazing service!! She was super friendly and made our experience even better. Our food arrived so quickly and was very good, the wine was just perfect!
The spectacular weather was ideal to enjoy the trail, there’s so much to explore and the property is just stunning.
Thank you for an incredible day, it was truly unforgettable!
L.
Went with a friend for brunch. Mine food was nice and tasty. My friend was very disappointed with hers. Not as nice as mine and hers was missing a fried goats cheese from what was advertised. She did complain and we got a small tasting of wine to compensate. Still dissappointing
A.
My husband took my mum and I to the Glass House Restaurant for Mothers Day. I don’t normally leave reviews, but it was hands down, one of the best food experiences I’ve ever had!
We opted for a bunch of shared plates and it was like my tastebuds went on a flavour sensation disco train. Pure indulgence that didn’t miss a beat.
Definitely recommend the Smoke Kawhai Rillette - it’s better than Christmas.
P.
Beautiful place to visit. There's a lovely sculpture trail and a cafe in the glass house to sit there and have lunch and enjoy the view.
S.
Lovely setting. The small meals were small but delicious! Friendly staff. Allow a hour for the big loop of the sculptures
s.
Lovely location and stylish vineyard with a sculpture walk.
Stopped by over the weekend to do a wine tasting and was looked after Marlin. Great service
C.
Beautiful walk to see the sculptures, reasonably priced I thought as well. However, was disappointed at the lack of sign posts of where to go. Was a bit confusing. Didn’t end up staying for the wine or food unfortunately.
B.
Sculpture trail was great. Pity they weren't so accommodating when we wanted to sit down for a drink. There were plenty of free tables but they said they were fully booked. Ended up spending our money elsewhere.
C.
Went here to celebrate a girlfriends birthday. This is a lovely setting to celebrate an occassion - the view is beautiful and the restaurant has its own unique feel and vibe. Service was wonderful and the waitress was really helpful at recommending items off of the menu, to suit all of our groups dietary needs. The food was so yum, especially the fries which were a big hit with me! Would definitely visit here again
J.
We had an excellent late lunch with fab service. Then just loved the sculpture trail. Will definitely take others there.
Z.
Incredible food and delicious wines. Great for groups. Stunning surroundings and creative architecture. Sculpture trail is absolutely worth doing. Overall fantastic day out, especially for families.
J.
We had our Wedding Anniversary and had an amazing lunch and wine tasting experience. The food was spectacular, truly delicious. The staff accommodated almost every item in the menu to be dairy free for me. They were very friendly and helpful. They happily took us pictures and gave us a free trail pass as an anniversary gift.
C.
Beautiful place for lunch, shared platter or coffee and cake. Set down a hill in a valley, this restaurant is a great place to get away from the busy life. With floor to ceiling glass over looking a pond, art and sculpture trail the restaurant has a very Scandinavian feel to it. We went for lunch and had a lovely meal with wine. This is a great place for couples or families. You can also try their own Brick Bay wines and buy a bottle to take home. The food is very fresh and locally produced with the sharing platters being very popular. If you are going in the weekends for lunch make sure you book as it is not a big place especially if it is wet. Great day out even if you come up from Auckland only an hour drive and just 10 minutes from Matakana. We didn't do the art/scuplture trail and does cost, see images for pricing.
M.
A lovely sunny day exactly as it was 60 years ago when we married. Wonderful food, stunning wine and excellent, thoughtful service.Thank you for the free pass to the Sculpture Trail.
G.
The staff of Brick Bay are so accommodating. I knew they were fully booked yesterday, so AS THE INFORMATION ON THEIR WEBSITE SAYS, I called them up and asked if they can squeeze two people in. They found us seats last minute and generously allotted us the standard two hours. We were seated under the grape vines. It was a beautiful setting for lunch. Our food was beautiful and fresh, as always, and came quickly. Brick Bay's kitchen is always dependable in this respect, and you can schedule your day around how precise they are. Keep up the excellent job, guys!
H.
Beautiful place. We found this place while we went to visit the Matakana market. Lovely place. The outdoor sitting was a bit windy, but very nice. Service was great. We ordered several dishes, such as the squid, cured vodka salmon, and the lamb burger. Tasty and portion was pretty good too
S.
Brick Bay is a treasure that few knew about when we first started going there about 9 years ago.
Now it's on the tourist trail and it's almost impossible to get a booking. So we've had to sacrifice "being the only ones in the place" to having to share the place with others. However, the measure of a place is how often you return. And we've continued to return, though now more on weekdays than weekends. You also have to book, which is a pity, but a price to pay for a great place.
The platters have been consistently good over the years. The coffee isn't terribly great. They are good on some days, not so good on the others. And the food is pretty solid. You can't go wrong with Brick Bay. It's a little spot of paradise.
And we'll go back again. Many times.
F.
Amazing location, feels like a different world despite being just an hour out of Auckland. We found great value out of the antipasto, the Pinot Gris especially went down well. Was stunned to end up walking through a set of torii gates in a restored Kauri Grove to end the sculpture trail.
H.
Beautiful food, view and wine. I reserved a table by the windows and I could enjoy the combination of the lake, hills and sky along with lovely food. Trail was also worth the money.
M.
The venue is clean and the service is great. I will recommend this place for a great glass of wine and catch ups with friends. We didn’t get a chance to get on the sculpture trail but from what I hear it is quite pleasant.
C.
Throughly enjoyed our time at Brick Bay. The sculpture trail was stunning, lots of incredible art to look at. The Glasshouse was a great way to finish off the walk. Best part is the dogs were able to come with us. Would highly recommend.
C.
We went here for our Work Christmas Function and were so impressed with the location, beautiful setting, food was good and the hospitality of the staff.
The sculpture trail was abit long but OK. The toilets need to be revamped, also extremely hot inside and need to be cleaned more regularly.
G.
I didn't do the wine tasting or go to the restaurant but instead walked the sculpture trail. My family really enjoyed the day out and spent alot of time taking in the art. The trail is set over a mix of open land, ponds and native bush and you can easily spend a couple of hours if you take your time. The reason we did not stop into the restaurant is because it was booked out when we cam back from the walk. So I guess that speaks for itself.
M.
Beautiful food and fantastic service! Will come back for more!
D.
Great atmosphere, very nice meals and polite staff.
Lovely walk around ponds and through kauri and other native tree forest
Plenty of interesting sculptures
J.
Stopped here for brunch today. Great spot with good food and ambience! Recommend the pork belly with eggs (if you are hungry!). Good service too.
v.
The sculpture trail is really nice. Only had a coffee so cant really say much about the food. Brought a wine on my way out... good friendly people that work there.
K.
Spent a fantastic Saturday morning exploring Brick Bay's sculpture trail. The trail is a gentle walk that took approximately 1 hour, with nature that rivals the sculptures themselves. Highly recommend as a fun weekend activity that's different from the usual coffee/ brunch.
A big plus for us was that both the restaurant and the trail are dog friendly. Unfortunately didnt stay to dine as the restaurant was busy (and we specifically needed an outdoor table our dog). Would recommend booking ahead to avoid disappointment. Plenty of parking on site.
B.
The location of Brick Bay is fantastic. Nestled among gardens, next to a pond, with a sculpture trail that you can visit after your meal to help digest.
I had the salmon which was accompanied by the most beautiful sauce, not too creamy yet it tasted creamy. Had the affogato for dessert which is worth getting as well.
C.
Beautiful place, albeit very commercial and somewhat pricey. However, clearly very popular as they were all bookee out on a Thursday. Recommended if you're not on a budget.
g.
The place is easy to walk around without a map. It's interesting to interpret the art pieces shown in the park. Beautiful scenery, many families brought their kids to spend an afternoon.
i.
Lovely place for a weekend getaway~~ Food tastes delicious~~ Suggest you came for a brunch, then do the sculpture trail to walk down the food you just eat, you might then have some room for a dessert😜~~
J.
Worth the drive up North. Excellent reception and very attentive and friendly serving staff. The food was of highest quality. The entire dining experience was memorable.
S.
Gorgeous place. Loved the sculpture trail & the food & wine was top notch! Definitely worth a visit.
R.
This place is really good for your soul. Fabulous food and wine, beautiful setting and excellent service. My favorite!
J.
Wonderful food and very helpful, happy staff. Loved the Sculpture walk - well worth the visit. Highly recommended.
I.
I wasn't expecting much but really enjoyed the walk and the sculptures. Definitely worth a visit, and good for kids. Didn't go to the cafe but my impression was that it is a bit pricey.
S.
Phenomenal food. Tip from a local: come during the weekdays for lunch. It's not as expensive and equally as good.
J.
Great food. Beautiful setting. Lovely walks
I.
Nestled in the middle of an amazing nature landscape views from all directions. Cozy and had a very intimate vibe. Awesome place.
K.
Fantastic service. The beef cheeks were delicious and lamb mains was very generous portioned
S.
Beautiful place. Very good staff. Very well made sculpture trial. Good place to spend the day.
J.
Trail is a must. Thou we were unlucky and got caught in a massive rain storm. Wine tasting is great value and in very nice setting. Booking is needed for restaurant. Highly recommend this spot for a great time with family. Bonus is it's dog friendly on lead. Staff are very helpful and accommodating
S.
Lovely trail walk. Beautiful setting. Didn't eat on this occasion but very keen to visit again.
C.
Unbelievable. Enjoyed so much. Trial was so interesting. Sculptures. Fantastic food. Delicious wines. A must go to place. 100% satisfaction
J.
We were a group of 15 (11 adults and 4 kids) and the staff were so friendly and amazing. The food was great and fast, eventhough the restaurant was very busy. The squid and the burger was yum and the cheesecake is delicious. Highly recommend, would go back any day.
t.
Great walk with the kids. Lots of nice areas to sit and take it all in. Easy walking tracks. Highly recommend.
M.
Brick Bay is a little gem tucked away in the Matakana countryside. The vineyard has a good range of wines and the restaurant a big selection of euro inspired dishes using local produce. The sculpture walk is a great way to spend and extra 30/40 mins after eating to explore the surrounding bush area. A great place to spend a morning or afternoon if you're in the area. Would definitely reccomend booking in advance.
Y.
This is a hidden gem and worth the drive from Auckland for. Had a wonderful birthday lunch with friends and family. I was a bit worried that the shared platters would not be big enough but I couldn't have been more wrong. They where amazing!
E.
What a lovely way to spend a few hours. Lunch was amazing with great GF options. The trail was just long enough to keep the kids attention and having a wine in the afternoon sun was a great way to finish! Totally recommend this one!
K.
Great views nice walks but they forgot to bring us our pudding 😏 so im sure on another day be great
B.
Great way to spend an afternoon, way better price than sculpturem. Advise you to book if you want to eat.
J.
Wonderful setting great food, great service, recommend to everyone. Had a lovely day. 😊
L.
Absolutely my favorite place in NZ to go. The setting and wine is sublime, but the food is totally and utterly outstanding. We go 4 times a year (yes, we love it that much) and people I'm with eat more than they normally do as we have to eat everything, ITS THAT GOOD.
J.
Delicious food and great wine. Beautiful spot to relax & take the moment in. The sculpture trail is worth doing too!!
L.
What's not to like?! Interesting art, beautiful setting and amazing food!! 10 out of 10!!
K.
This sculpture trail is an absolute must-do. Dog friendly and kid friendly. Exhibits are changed out too so there's often something new. A map is given to you when you start - kid or adult version. A beautiful (approx) 2k walk through farm and bush mostly on a raised boardwalk. Finish it off with a wine tasting or food in the cafe overlooking the pond.
J.
Was there with a group and we had the set sharing menu - everything was absolutely delicious, they catered to our dietary requirements without any fuss and the staff were friendly. Such a gorgeous spot and it's good to have the sculpture walk to help you burn off all the treats!
J.
+tive - beautiful setting for brunch, wait staff friendly & attentive
-tive - long wait for food and it wasn't super busy
S.
Nice kids friendly walk and lots of beautiful sculptures to spot along the track.
C.
A must-visit if you're in the area. The trail is pricey but worth it. All their wine is great, so I recommend a sample paddle. For food, the platters are great and surprising large. While the inside area has a lovely view of the pond, the outside seating area is perfect on a warm day. Plenty to eat for the kids, and there is a small play area (plus plenty of space to run). The main restaurant is accessible but unfortunately most the paths are gravel.
C.
An outstanding venue. Amazing dinning experience outside followed by a walk to view the sculptures. It is a gem worth exploring
T.
Good place to relax and unwind while you think of the great lunch and wine after
M.
Was a little worried the Glass House would be too warm - no need to - it was lovely and airey - perfect on hot hot day
I.
Brick bay was pretty good and I loved the sculpture trail, the food was also good, the wine was amazing.
A.
Interesting place but they're not super business minded. We were a group of 10 and we turned up wanting to have a birthday lunch with wine and beer..Amazingly they said they were fully booked...and no room. We saw plenty of room..Pity ..they must be making too much money..😲
N.
Stunning sculpture and lovely setting. Great Kai and drinks and friendly staff. Possibly need some good savoury options at the cafe and accessibility for wheelchair users and others. Overall a lovely winery.
S.
What a great place to visit. As the restaurant was fully booked being the Christmas holidays we pre booked a picnic hamper for each couple. These were delicious. The sculpture trail is great. Also the staff were brilliant. Very friendly and helpful which at this busy time is amazing. A big thanks especially to the young man and lady in the cafe. You were great. Thanks.
b.
Great day out have been a couple of times now. Enjoy the walk around the sculpture park and then stop for something to eat. We just take a pack up and walk the kids around the park and then stop for a picnic.
E.
Love this place been here several times I just love the trail to the sculptures it's stunning here..
M.
Came for lunch with friends and the food was super yum. Great service staff, and an amazing setting as well. We’ll be back for more of your delicious rose!
G.
Excellent sculpture trail plus delightful cafe👌
S.
Great fun walk with the kids, lovely sculpture and delicious lunch and wine
D.
Good for a walk around and lunch. Good staff and excellent food quality
A.
My husband and I booked a table to celebrate our wedding anniversary. It was our first time visiting this vineyard and we had to plan ahead as it was quite far but we were not disappointed! Beautiful setting, yummy food with a reasonable price tag and a group of well-trained staff. all the staff I encountered were professional, personable and friendly. All of these things came together to make our day so magical. We were so impressed that we are going there again tomorrow, this time with our baby. Happy to have found this gem of a place!
C.
Loved the Sculpture trail. Beautiful walk through nature interspersed with many special sculptures.
m.
We were given a voucher for a platter lunch, tasting paddle and sculpture walk. The voucher was expired because we couldn’t use it due to the lockdowns. Brick bay happily honoured it anyway . The food was delicious the wine delectable and the service warm and friendly. We enjoyed the sculpture walk as well .
Thanks for a lovely day Brick Bay 🥰
S.
My wife and I went here today and it was fantastic. Such a great setting, you walk through bush full of bird song and come across stunning sculptures and works around every corner.
I highly recommend this activity.
K.
We highly recommend the sculpture trail and the restaurant. We have done it twice now and wouldn't hesitate to go back. The trail was perfectly manageable for our three and five year old. The service, food and wine at the restaurant were all exceptional.
A.
Great trail with amazing sculptures. Great for the kids!
s.
Nice walk +sculptures +food=perfect day out. Love it.
P.
Wines were just ok and food was pretty average. The beef cheeks were amazing but our party of 4 was unimpressed by the overall experience. The menu in restaurant and on the website isnt corrected so don't expect to be fed after 3. I'd recommend trying somewhere else before going here. The place is cute though and the staff are great.
N.
Fantastic!! The team of super friendly staff at Brickbay made our day super special. We chose to have lunch at the glasshouse for our 20th Wedding Anniversary, the food was outstanding and the sculpture trail was awesome. It was a lovely family day out. A huge thanks to the team who even gifted us the sculpture trail tickets for a anniversary gift. Thanks again
D.
Great place for lunch... beautiful location. The vegetarian options were ok but limited... I had the falafel salad.
S.
This place is really interesting. We arrived 45 minutes before our lunch booking, which gave us time to see the first set of sculptures. Having done that we had a really tasty lunch and sampled a paddle of wines before heading out to view the remaining sculptures. Allow 45 minutes for lunch and another couple of hours to take in the rest of the sculptures. The path winds through native bush, and the kauri grove is a very special place, as are the places along the trail with sound art, which you can hear along the trail and which are cleverly placed to draw you along as you question what they may be. Well worth the price, and spectacular in Autumn with the colours in the trees.
O.
Very nice platter with a glass of red from the vineyard.
R.
A very nice winery in lovely surrounding area. Very friendly and helpful staff. Good range of wine to sample. Good walk around property available. Well worth a visit. I visited with over 60's group and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their visit. Can certainly recommend.
P.
The walk around the sculptures is always an annual treat. An earlier opening in summer would be nice so you get the earthy freshness through the gardens. Coffee was cold but they did say we could have requested a new one after we told them.
m.
My experience at Brick Bay was a memorable delight. A delectable menu and space to share a meal, before heading off on a beautifully punctuated amble through the landscape. The large number of sculptural works along the trail provided provoking opportunities for meaningful conversation and lingering thoughts. Thank you!
R.
Great place to visit, sculptures walkway and cafe to have a drink or lunch. Great food and service. And a lovely with lotuses.
B.
My wife and I had a wonderful lunch here yesterday. The food and wine were delicious! We walked the sculpture trail afterwards and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. It's easy to see why this place keeps getting five star reviews ★★★★★

Excellent. Really good wines especially the Pharos (Bordeaux blend) and the Pinot gris (Alsace style). Staff was friendly and knowledgeable. The restaurant and espresso bar looked worth a visit but we did not have time to stop as we were due for a swim at Omaha. What could be better, tasting a range of well made wine then a laze in the sun followed by a dip in the ocean. Bliss.
M.
A very warm welcome by the staff prior to our sculpture walk. The trail was very well sign posted and the sculptures had all information we needed on display. A lovely day out!
I.
We loved the sculpture trail here. Make sure to leave plenty of time before lunch - you don’t want to rush! Our lunch was superb. Beautiful food, great wine and really excellent service - thanks Barry! Can’t wait to come back
D.
Beautiful setting and delicious food. We will be back.
D.
Great restaurant food and staff...the sculptures are a must see
B.
Great food with great presentation. The pinot gris wine was fabulous
V.
Beautiful, fantastic place, with excellent food and a great variety of wines locally made. The art walk is worth taking it slowly appreciating each piece of art, some will surprise you, do not rush.
It is a great place for relaxing and have a lunch with the family or friends. Highly recommended. Do not miss it.
R.
Great place, art in nature, then wine!
R.
Lovely wines and food, some hickup with the bill unfortunately
S.
We had lunch today. We shared our plates. Food is amazing. Wine is great. Service is wonderful. The setting is beautiful. Nothing but positive things to say. Keep it up. We will be back.
S.
Tasty food and great outdoor but seating not very comfortable
C.
Fantastic place. Has it all: friendly staff, delicious food, excellent wine, great coffee, nice views and walks, play area for kids. This is a regular go-to. There can be a wait if it is busy, but that is to be expected and the team work hard to satisfy everyone. Would have to be my number one spot for a local wine & meal, with friends or the family. Well done team - you do a great job! Top marks.
A.
Yummy cheeseboard and it’s always fun walking around their sculpture park. The restaurant sits on a lovely pond with great views.
The wine isn’t our favourite but that’s very subjective.
Make a day of it and stop in at Matakana markets.
J.
Great food and service. A favourite place for light lunches.
J.
We went here for lunch today and had The taste of Brick Bay menu. What a lovely meal It was - we all enjoyed our food very much and such a lovely setting.
F.
Do not let doubt and suspicion prevent your progress :)
P.
Had my mum's 70th birthday lunch here. Cracking menu, great service, primo food. Chardonnay wasn't available on day, but apart from that, food and service was faultless. Garden tour was interesting and engaging. Well worth the time and effort. All round worthy of 5 stars.👍🙂
p.
Restaurant - Awesome. Wine - Awesome. Sculpture trail - Awesome. So yes, i recommend it!
L.
Platters were delicious wine was delicious really enjoyed the space and the service was great
C.
Ended 'summer hours' with a Friday afternoon lunch here. We had a table on the deck overlooking the little lake. It was a great way to say goodbye to summer - the setting and food were fantastic! Also really appreciate that they cater for people who want to bring dogs (we brought out corgi who loved the food too).
l.
Customer service good.
Environment very good, esp the track.
Food:
The beef cheek is very nice but very disappointed with the lamb esp considering with the price $36, we end up having half of it only.
You will still be charged separately for the track even you have dinner there.
Remember to make reservation before you go.
G.
A beautiful place and good food, but the staff must be new. 3 different people told us 3 different things about when the kitchen closes. Normal menu til 3. Then 3-4 it’s a limited menu. Then 4 onwards just cheese and deserts 😬😅
L.
Nice place for a chill-out morning/afternoon
M.
Nice cafe and interesting easy walk through native bush and farmland with quirky sculptures. Some amazing creations.
Well worth a Brunch/afternoon activity
J.
.Meals were extremely sized we has 3 men at our table and they were disappointed
B.
Recently my sister and I were lucky enough to celebrate a significant birthday along with 30 others at this fabulous restaurant. The food and wine were of excellent standard, the service was great and all of the staff were friendly and welcoming. We would happily recommend this restaurant and will return.
J.
A lovely lunch supported with delightful wine. And then we spent an hour or two wandering around the fabulous sculpture trail. Marvelous.
K.
Went for a wine tasting while visiting NZ. They were very good and prices weren’t too bad either. I love that they had a travel package to put it in for the flight cause I brought some home. I even got some of the very tasty honey. I highly recommend going if you want great wine.
M.
Wine tasting with fee waived on purchase. Place to eat with gorgeous lake view. Will recommend sculpture walk: good blend of nature, art and exercise.
S.
Such a beautiful spot to relax and spend time with family and friends. Lunch was just delicious. Service so friendly and helpful. And the sculpture trail is amazing. Just visit again!
D.
Loved the sculptures though some were hard to understand.. artists licence I suppose.. had lunch we shared a platter which was good but we felt not value for money
J.
Great example of hospitality done right, Staff were excellent, always checking in and walking the floor with a smile on their faces. open and airy restaurant with a beautiful outlook over a little lake. food was fast and well presented. overall i felt it was good value for money and would happily go back to enjoy the surroundings again. Thankyou Brick Bay for your attention to detail, it does get noticed!
I.
Great place! Beautiful! Yummy! Friendly! Highly recommended!
c.
Average food, okay wine and good service.
Be prepared to get wet walking from car parking to glass house restaurant, about 150 meters.
B.
Had a wonderful afternoon here. Made a special trip up from Auckland and were not disappointed. The food and wine in the restaurant was top notch and the service was great - the staff were very attentive and do a great job. The walk around the sculputres was fun and the printed guide gave plenty of information. The Kauri trees were most impressive. Also must say the toilets were the cleanest and brightest public toilets we have found for quite a while.
Well worth a visit!
L.
Great place. The sculpture walk was awesome. Could only just get down the driveway in a bus.
M.
What a nice day we had at the vinery and sculpture trail.
I have to admit that the first impression was negative: drinks and ice creams at the bar look overpriced, and $12 per head for the entry fee seemed like a lot for what I though would just be a walk in the fields. I was wrong. (Well, the soft drinks and ice creams are still overpriced).
The trail consists in a 2 hours long walk across woods and countryside where over 60 art pieces are installed. Some pieces are small and unassuming, but most are large sculptures that deserve to be seen in person. There are a few audio installations among the various pieces, all strategically placed in between trees or in appropriate natural settings. A map with the description of each installation helps making sense of what you'll see or hear. It's also good that the same map describes flora and fauna in the area. (My 3 years old son was particularly looking for the colorful parrots that you might come across).
We had lunch at the restaurant. Once again, prices are a tad high but not overly expensive. (A nice burger with fries or a large salad costs about $23). They have a canteen and they serve, among the rest, their own wines. We had the Pinot Gris and the Petit Verdot and they were excellent. We saw that they do wine tasting but we didn't have enough time to do it (prices vary but they are between $2 and $3 per taster). If you eat at their restaurant they will discount $2 from your entry fee. Service is great and friendly and we had a table next to the pond with a view on the water flowers.
All in all, the particular location, the care given to keep all sculptures clean and the trail walkable, and the good food are worth the price paid. We were all very happy, including my son who also played on the swings and with the excavators in the sand pit.
If you are in the area, feel artsy, and want to relax this is the place for you.
D.
Absolutely Devine food and wine and beautiful setting.
S.
Foods &wines are perfect with a beautiful view.
C.
10 stars plus! Awesome Rose and platters in an amazing environment!
B.
Another of our North Auckland gems. Food was great, service was friendly and quick. Had the shared platter - very nice.
L.
Beautiful spot! The sculpture trail was really interesting and through some picturesque farmland & bush, then finished the afternoon with a delish platter and some wine tasting.
E.
A lovely walk amongst the beautiful family friendly gardens. We only did the sculpture trail this visit but will definitely be going back for lunch/wine sometime. Friendly, helpful staff. Highly recommend.
k.
Lovely green surroundings with Waterlilies and great food and wine.
J.
Service is very good. Food is above average. Coffee is delicious!
S.
Awesome food midweek lunch deal with wine tasting good value, add a sculpture walk afterwards well worth it. Helpful staff.
T.
Beautiful place, had my sister in law's hen's lunch there. Amazing atmosphere and setting. Very picturesque!
P.
An interesting place set amongst lily ponds and vineyards. I didn't think the "art" improved the walk, but that's highly subjective, of course. The restaurant inside a glasshouse was an oddball touch, very hot on the summer day we visited, and doubtless a challenging place to attract customers on a wet winter day.
H.
Such a great place for a Hens Do. I organised my friends Hens Do for lunch here (I booked in January 2018 for early April) so glad I did as I had heard from a friend they were shocked we even got tables as other people had been trying to book for a while and Brick Bay was full over the summer months (my advice book way in advance to avoid disappointment) We had the best tables under the vines. It was such a nice day too. Food was served on sharing platters as well as the dessert. Everyone loved it. Brick Bay were easy to deal with, prompt emails and everything was organised accordingly and nothing was an issue. Thanks again!
C.
This venue is a staple of ours, not far from Auckland, always good food and wine and the art installations change regularly. The sculpture walk is always pleasant and the grounds are very well cared for.
a.
Contemporary art gallery located in a vineyard. There is a sulpture trail with many contemporary art installations scattered amonth the property. There is a nice restaurant with a view and options to do wine tasting as well.
A.
Have been gong here for several years and went again on the weekend for lunch. We had no booking but were surprised we could still get food after 3pm on a sunday and had the platters which were to die for. Childrens meals were also perfect. We had old friends from Perth out for the day and they loved it..commenting on the incredible variety of food. The food and service here is outstanding and it still remains one of the best eating establishments in the entire Auckland region. I have a plan to return in January for my 55th birthday! this place is hard to beat..setting is amazing and could easily just wind away a whole day here!! any lazy Sunday afternoon.. Thank you!!
R.
Good place for spending a bit of special moment with friends. Nice view and food.
You must book. Otherwise no guarantee of spaces.
P.
Best value visit in all of matakana for 8years to 57!
S.
Really enjoyable walk with some very interesting sculptures, had a excellent brunch before and the staff were very friendly and professional
A.
Lots of sculptures & tracks with good kauri trees
P.
Delightful dining experience - the sculpture trail has many new artworks since my last visit.
J.
didn't eat there just looked n left but will go back sometime
R.
The sculpture trail is well set out.
We brought our two dogs who loved the trails and I think some of art.
S.
Very relaxing place for a weekend getaway.
H.
Really good food... exceptional wines... glad we did the sculpture walk first... that is awesome. Ponds and forest walk... in Kauri trees too..
G.
Quite interesting surroundings.. loads to look at. Food very pricey but nice. Not good for plant based people unfortunately. Worth a trip once
T.
Wow! what a spot. Lovely setting, great new a la carte menu featuring their own grown produce, and a lovely Sculpture Walk to end it all if you fancy a walk after your meal. A lot of thought has gone into this place and it's truly worth the drive from Auckland.
B.
Fabulous venue, been a couple of times now. Really top class without being pretentious. Sculpture trail was lovely too. Really worked off the excess calories from lunch earlier.
A.
Great service, amazing food and I had a lovely glass of rosé. Beautiful view over their lake as well.
A.
Delicious small plates at Brick Bay, some awesome sculptures and some ridiculously pretentious descriptions of others! If the artists were prevented from using the word "juxtaposition" (and derivatives thereof) they would not know what to say! But still definitely worth a visit.
G.
Fabulous food, nice wine platter, excellent friendly service. Even the coffee was good!
Special mention to the beef cheek and the pork belly. Best ever!
W.
Excellent food & service + the mulled wine!, we are talking about 'next time' we visit already. The sculpture trail just completed making a truely amazing day. Ps- and excellent staff who are a credit to the place.
T.
Every sculpture is unique. Inspiring work in a peaceful environment.
A must visit👌🤩
J.
Really nice walk and cool sculptures
R.
Will surely revisit. Friendly staffs and beautiful place.
S.
Had a great time here last week. Loved my crispy squid lunch, was a great way to finish off an energising morning walking around the cool sculptures. Kate managed to find us a table over-looking the lake which was perfect! Thankyou so much!
S.
Love this place - the Sculpture Trail is always great to do and then lunch at Brick Bay Winery is just delicious...
R.
Great sculpture trail with quality sculptures to admire.
C.
An amazing glass house overseeing the lake. The sculpture walk trail was a great addition to the enjoyable lunch. Highly recommended.
K.
Best place for a rainy Sunday afternoon at Matakana wine district.
D.
Amazing location with an incredible building resting over a lake where you can enjoy excellent food and some of the best wine in the country.
Check out the sculpture trail also, a beautiful walk in nature and well-curated art works.
L.
Really enjoyed the trail, however, I was a little disappointed with the food available after 3pm in the restaurant, not many options and rather pretentious for what it was.
L.
A great restaurant and winyard with a great sculpture walk. A great family outing!! The service at the restaurant and care is fantastic and very friendly and helpful staff all around... A great experience 👍
B.
Great food, wine and atmosphere. Won't be back however as the traffic out there is appalling. Took 2hr15 to get from the winery to Birkenhead. Warkworth Junction is killing your trade! Nothing against your business, hence the 5 stars but not practical to revisit until that junction gets sorted.
B.
good food, there's a sculpture trails tour if you like too
T.
Wonderful walk but dining by appt well ahead. Make your reservation if you wish to eat.
A.
Great location
Good food
Wine tasting lady needs to smile and serve rather than look so bored
Lost a 5 star especially when I’m paying an extra 15% surcharge which is added onto total amount
J.
Gorgeous wine and serene views. Couldn't ask for a better lunch date place! Will definitely visit again
M.
Great sculpture trail which changes and has improved each year making it worth revisiting. The food and service is great and of course so is the wine!
M.
Place is charming, but maitre d' was unaccommodating for 2 of us to have a quick drink & light meal when there were tables & seating empty. Not impressed with their social skills.
M.
Amazing. The trees and landscape are beautiful. The sculptures makes this walkway an unexpected pleasurable experience. Highly recommend.
C.

C.
Always a fabulous place to have lunch or dinner, pop in for a coffee or wine and stock up on BB rosé. A long time favourite destination.
M.
Stunning vineyard and s great menu which caters to most all dietary requirements. The ancient grains salad was some of the freshest produce I've had. In very long and it was grown on-site!

Magical location, what they did with the sculpture trail crossing the hills and valleys here, together with the wine yards, the amazing views of the beach, and great food in their glasshouse or out on their veranda...
