I stop at this place for a meal whenever I'm passing through. It has got the tastiest Chinese food I have ever eaten. Every time I call in I try something different on the menu and so far have enjoyed every dish, I still have many to try and am looking forward to it. It is authentic Chinese cooking with none of the commercial sauces that most of the restaurants use nowadays. Do not be fooled by the decor or size of the restaurant, you will not be disappointed in what ever meal you order. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to any person.

Oh my gosh! Their set menu is definitely the way to go especially when you can't decide! You get a starter, entree, mains, desserts and tea or coffee for $23-26pp for two depending on menu option - group of locals came in before we left and ordered a set menu straight away and were hungrily awaiting so it just be a popular choice. We got the set menu 2 and it was extremely delicious and generous portions! Must be the cheapest option for dinner in Taihape apart from the fast food options. Was a little bit of a wait but we understand they were busy and it was a long weekend but food and service definitely made the wait worth it!

Been here twice, and was a great experience in ways I did not expect. The food and value are 5 star but it a popular place, and Tony the cook prepares thing the old way.. - so wait times can be longer than some are used to, lso the Decor is 1970 's NZ chic the style is bound to be highly desirable in a year or two but some folks might not see the appeal just yet. For me the highlight was the locals For example yy hot plate created enough steam to fill the place like a tasty Sauna, people noticed and were happy to comment, I greatly enjoyed the 2 ladies who cross examined a young lady " is that your new man? Is he good to you? You make sure now , remember my phone number if you have trouble - put it on speed dial, reply laughing Yes Aunties I will

Excellent fish and chips. Having been delayed with a major accident and an hour or two to go to our Tokaanu destination we arrived late with 6 children. The fish was good quality and both the fish and chips crisp, served in simple baskets that made the dine-in eating experience a pleasant one for us. Prices were ok and no extra to dine-in. Toilet was reasonably clean but being way out the back reminded us a little of toilets in China.

Dont let the appearance put you off.This place looks pretty tired but the food is delicious and very reasonably priced. Chinese was hot and very tasty. Fish and chips golden and crispy. Would call in again if passing through. YUM

Fantastic Chinese food available here best in taihape in my opinion. We had sweet and sour pork, pan fried dumplings, stuffed mushrooms and BBQ pork fired rice which was all delicious. Another highlight was the authentic green tea they serve. Decour is dated but doesn’t matter. Staff are friendly and it’s good for takeaway or eat it. We ate in for ~$24 each and are looking forward to stopping in at our next let night drive through taihape
