N. L. G. J.We went to try their 3 course dinner. For our entree I ordered the prawn gazpacho and the my husband got the free range pork belly. For our mains we got the Taupo beef eye fillet and coastal lamb rump and shared a side of seasonal vegetables with miso butter. And for dessert we both got lemon meringue creme brulee.
L.Really lovely food, which we all enjoyed, no problem there at all. Also a lovely setting, and attentive staff. We were a group of five, and unfortunately seated close to a loud and large group. Like the other tables in the area, we left early rather than request to shifted - not wanting that drama. Putting large groups in a more private area would have been sensible, and for us would have made an unpleasant dining experience a whole lot better. The fixed price, 3 course arrangement is also not going to suit everyone.
E.That was a 10/10 3 course dinner, delicious food and I just loved the service and atmosphere. Ginger cake was the highlight of the night, must try.

A. D.What an amazing place! One of the best restaurants in Taupo and North Island. Set up in a house, this restaurant has plenty of space to suit any party from 2 to 20. Wine list is pretty good, there is a fireplace by the bar where you can enjoy a glass or two. And the food - the food is just divine! There were 4 of us, and each plate, from starters to mains and desert - everything was unbelievable. I definitely recommend this place for a visit.
J. P. (.Entering the restaurant was welcome by the waitress with a warm greeting and allowed to choose where to seat which was nice. Interior that leads to the garden is nice too. Upon ordering food, I was promise there be bread serve but that never came and I had to ask for it when they serve the starter.
Food was not great, the pork belly starter was warm at the top, cold at the bottom. The purée sauce that came with it was cold. The small salad below the pork belly is serve cold but maybe it’s too cold that’s why the pork belly got too cold at its bottom side? I don’t know. But not a great start by getting the basics wrong, serving warm food mostly cold. The lamb main was quite nice but I’m not sure about the peas. It’s a humble green and they are not doing any special spin on it, if so, might as well get some cool looking veg like Romanesco. Lamb was cook well. Desert was the best, I wish there was more lychee but the combo of ginger brûlée and lychee was great. There was something else on it I couldn’t quite make out but it tasted great nonetheless. Was suppose be a 3 star but I gave 4 star because it was mostly saved by the desert, alittle bit by the lamb.

s. m.Nz dining at its best. Good food. Good service. Good wine list that compliments the menu very well. It's one the best kept secrets of Taupo I feel. That Rosé is one of the finest I have had in a while. A great little fireplace at the front to enjoy the wine after dinner as well.

H. R.The best Restaurant in Taupo and for me amongst the best in New Zealand. You get a warme welcome from a nice young lady originating from south Germany but speaking perfectly Kiwi. You can take a three course menu or order a la carte. I had the prawns, the fish of the day and a lemon yoghurt as desert. All was fantastic quality and taste. A clear recommendation if you are here.

J. A.I feel remiss for not reviewing this sooner. Went for dinner during a weekend getaway to taupo for my birthday in June and it was the highlight.
Amazing experience from start to finish. Pleasantly surprised when we found it looked like someone’s house from the outside (a very nice house). Met at the front door by staff and walked straight into the coolest and cosiest bar ever. Fireplace going, epic art on the wall. We were offered a drink and also the opportunity to go upstairs to their art gallery! That was a lovely surprise. Fantastic to be able to peruse some lovely art with a wine in hand
Dinner was exceptional. We tried a number of things and don’t think you could go wrong with any of it. The cocktails were to die for too.
It was the service that stood out to me also with lovely Georgia and Kyra (all the staff in fact).
These too were attentive and also great sense of humour. Kyra could see us trying to check out other peoples dishes as she want past, so started lowering them down as she did so and gave us a smile and wink.
This might be one of my be one of my vert dinning experiences anywhere in NZ. Cannot rate or rave about highly enough.
T. H.What can I say, the food, atmosphere and staff are all just tops. We had a lovely meal for 4 of and everyone just couldn't give enough praise to the food and service. Our waiter was professional, attentive and knew everything without having to go and ask. One of our group was veterinarian and found plenty of options. Deserts were made to perfection with the chocolate displaying a sheen that you very rarely see. Front of house were excellent, and again like the waiting staff showed true professionalism. The Brantry is reasonably priced and well worth the visit. Advice is check out the google street view first, as its not an easy address to find. Driving past you may think its a normal residential house.

After ordering our meals we were presented with a surprise entree on the house. The meals were beautifully presented and tasted even better. I took the fellow reviews advice and got the pork belly and words cannot describe how amazing this was. The dessert was beautiful. The staff even surprised me with a candle in my dessert after casually mentioning it was my birthday. All in all it was a fantastic night and we wish there was one closer to home in Australia as this place is one of a kind. Thank you for the amazing night.

The serving sizes were just right, and honestly our first good meal since arriving to NZ! Make sure you book an appointment. We booked an appointment several hours prior to coming.

S. B.The food was delicious but we felt very ignored by the waitstaff. I’m not sure what we did to offend the waiter but after he took our appetizer orders he literally did not come back again. We kept having to awkwardly flag other waitresses down because everyone kept actively ignoring our table. We were sitting there with empty plates, empty water glasses and empty drink glasses for 20-30 minutes at a time and no one would come over despite us making eye contact with them and trying to wave them down. It was one of the strangest dining experiences of my life. The food was very good though but it’s unfortunate such a delicious meal was negatively affected by such terrible service.

K. J.Travelling through Taupo for 2 nights as part if our NZ travels and made a last minute booking for the Christmas buffet lunch. We loved every part of our day here. Service was wonderful, with cheery staff and prompt attention. The food was plentiful and delicious - my bar was low given it was buffet style but there was not a Bain Marie in sight, only beautifully prepared platters of food that were replenished frequently and so good! Though not cheap, we left feeling complete satisfied (ok, stuffed!) and were even treated to a take home box of Xmas treats such as gingerbread, xmas cake and rumballs. A lovely atmosphere and great food - a really happy surprise on our Christmas out of town!

M. R.My wife and I had an amazing time here. The three course menu is 60 nzd each so eminently affordable. That includes an appetizer, entree and a dessert. She had the duck and I had the salmon. Both were cooked to perfection.
They have a good selection of wines and beer, highly recommend the wheat beer.

Food was excellent, some of the best food I've enjoyed. I ordered the fish croquette, lamb, and brulee and they were all amazing. Presentation was on point.
Without being very nit picky its hard to fault any of their food/service. The roast potatoes were about a 3/5 as they were slightly hard for my liking and under seasoned. and lemonade 2.5/5 as It was slightly watery/budget (I'd suggest the use franks lemonade or similar ;)). But that's being VERY nit picky.
Highly recommend this place if you're ever around the Taupo region.

b.Amazing food!! I have eaten at so many restaurants around NZ and the Brantry has by far taken the lead. The food is absolutely amazing. The atmosphere is pleasent. The staff are friendly and prompt with service. The only negitive is that now when ever I eat anywhere else besides the Brantry I am very dissatisfied with the food. The Brantry has set the bar and the price is utterly cheap.

E.Wow our dinner at the Brantry was just fantastic. I love the new 3 course set menu, it makes it much easier to choose, plus the price is excellent too. The pork belly was delicious, melt in the mouth and the boned neck fillets my partner had were stunning as well. You can tell these guys cook with passion and they source fresh local ingredients which is just fantastic.
K.The unassuming appearance from the outside may give you the reminder of another one of those "bad food choices" however, once you open the doors to this place you are transported to another world. Not only with the ambience and great service, but the food... oh the food... local produce cooked really well and presented on the plate with perfection. The Bantry ticks all the boxes and if the Lake wasnt excuse enough to revisit, then the dinning experience is a reason we will be returning to Lake Taupo in the very near future.
