We had such an amazing experience at this venue. Called in for a drink and light share platter early afternoon, saw the menu so went back the next night for dinner. Can not fault either the meals or the service! Amazing all round. Meals are so full of flavour, very generous portions and the staff are super friendly and attentive.

Yummy food and a great ambience. The menu price is affordable too. The lamb shank fell nicely off the bone and the salmon was perfectly cooked. We had a few dishes and they were all tasty. I wouldn’t recommend the calamari, it was a $17 dish and only had about 7/8 pieces. Would have given a 5 otherwise.

Possibly one of the best places in Taupo to go for dinner, as the service is great and the food is always amazing! Had the Chicken Fettuccine pasta with a side of Green salad and a Chicken wood fired pizza with Mojito mocktails. The Green salad was a huge serving with walnuts, and with the pasta it was just lovely. The Mojito mocktails can be addictive too. Love the atmosphere and music. We arrived just after 5pm and found a park straightaway. We didn't have to wait long and just as we were about to eat, it got pretty busy. 😅 The staff are just so well presented and very welcoming. Thank you Sandy and Roger, it's always a great experience dining at your restaurant. 👍🏻

The best place and so accommodating! All the staff were wonderful on a busy night and the food/menu was amazing. We had a family of 30 people looking for a restaurant for our mothers 65th birthday and had left it to the last minute to book anywhere. Sorrento made it happen for us as the manager rallied her staff and got us in at 6pm! I was so relieved and our family loved it. Such a nice setting and we had a table in the upstairs of the restaurant so our big group could sit together and enjoy a 65th birthday.

We had the most amazing meal here last night, everything cooked to perfection.. and the cocktails we beautiful ... It was the best calamari I've had in Taupo!! The staff were amazing and made the atmosphere even better. WELL DONE SORRENTO.. 5 STAR ALL THE WAY

We arrived just before 8:00 pm and wanted to order some wine and starters, but were rushed to order the mains as the owner told us that they will be closing the kitchen shortly, even though other tables kept on coming after that. Not a very welcoming hospitality, rather a disappointment, I assume the customer is not that important to them. The olives were warm and flavourful, both the pasta dishes were excellent. We wanted to order some more wine and desserts, but were afraid to ask so left for a different venue.

Lovely Italian Restaurant. Great selection of wines to go with a delicious menu. Flavourful lasagne with a rich sauce. Tiramisu could have done with a bit more of a soak. Dessert cocktails a big hit.

I celebrated my 50th here on the 14th January, a table of 15. It was silly busy! Atmosphere was cool, staff were attentive but not in your face which is great when you have a large group to catch up with! The food, dear lord! Heavenly! Fantastic portion sizes, fresh fresh and timley. A must do when in Taupo, we all will be back!!!

Welcoming atmosphere, attentive staff and the food was delicious. As regular diners we always rate the best places and make no comment on the average. Beef Carpaccio was perfect, the Prawns had a yummy crunch on the outside accomodating flavours were delicious and we finished with a Pizza to pick at and take some home while we enjoyed our cocktails. Everything was yummo. Highly recommend.

Amazing food! We where a walk in and luckily they had a space for us! Clearly it's a popular restaurant, and we know why, the waiter was professional, fast and the food was next level, bruschetta was amazing, mains also very well portioned and tasty! We will be back!

I finally found a wonderfully prepared risotto, (that's so hard!) And that one was very good, I also tried an exquisite mojito mocktail, in general everything was so good!! I love the place.💕

Osteria should be on your Lake Taupo itinerary. They have an eclectic decor, with plenty different kinds of seating. Food is certainly the highlight, be it the vegetarian pizza or clams for appetizers or salmon pasta and pork belly. The flavors are bright and luscious. Prices for most dishes are a bit more than other places, but not unexpected. Two minor points: Service is slow, even when the restaurant is not full (so order an appetizer). You also have to work to get attention of the waiters, for water or bill etc.

Had an absolutely amazing and lovely meal here. The place was packed full, yet food came out at a perfect pace. The starters were lovely, calamari was cooked to perfection, practically melted in my mouth. But best of all, the carbonara was incredible. The whole experience was excellent, we got a choice of seat before the rush came as we had a reservation. We started with a pizza bread and trio of dips to share. The entree was stunning with all of the basil, olive and sundried dips being very much the perfect accompaniment. For mains we had the veal and pork belly, both were equally lovely with the pork being in the top 5 I've had. We matched it with an Italian red. The whole experience was excellent and well worth the visit

We came to dine in on a busy Thursday night. Really friendly and warm staff and the food is absolutely outstanding. Me and my partner got the Beef cheeks and The Lamb shank who were literally melting in mouth ! We highly recommend this place for a nice dinner. We really enjoyed our dinner at the Osteria last night. The staff is very lovely and professional and the food is divine! The sharing board platter was very amazing. I took the slow cooked lamb and my husband took the scotch fillet : all was delicious! I highly recommend this place and would love to come back !

DEFINITELY GO HERE. INCREDIBLE! the atmosphere and decor is beautiful. The staff are happy and awesome to talk to. Very helpful and considerate. You can tell they enjoy working there. As always, our meals were delicious. Just love going to this restaurant for the friendly and efficient service, food is always super hot and wait staff really attentive but not overbearing. Absolutely lovely surroundings, especially the gas fire which creates a warm ambience. A top notch menu despite the challenging times. Can’t wait to go back!

The food was fine but the salad was terrible. Instead of a dressing it was just incredibly salty. When we told the maître d, he just said that the chef was happy with it and we should be too. Disappointing.

We went to Osteria the other week and the service was very impressive from start to finish however the food was a little disappointing the only thing we really enjoyed was the arancini balls entree. The other entree was probably the most expensive but was very underwhelming. My partner had the seafood marinara as his main and said it was average with limited seafood in it. I chose the Ravioli special which was nice but only just warm and the tomato sauce that went with it was completely cold and the flavour was very overpowering with a lot of tomatoes.

After weeks of trying to get in finally got there , menu has changed and we also felt the quality of the food too sadly , we also waited 90 mins for our mains and it wasn't really that busy , cold prawn antree , but the calimari was amazing. very disappointed the sea food plater has gone , We need to give you another shot hope it was a one off . the service at the table was awesome just having to wait that long for a main ruined the evening .

This is a brilliant restaurant. The service was friendly and efficient, the food was great and my only problem with the food was that there were so many really nice dishes on offer that I couldn't try them all. I was pleasantly surprised that the cost was very reasonable. I recommend this place.

We initially only went to this place because Vine was full, however the whole experience here was phenomenal. Lovely wait staff, quick ordering and delicious food. The atmosphere was very nice (with the exception of the deer heads) but would highly recommend. After going to Vine the next day we realised they truly don’t compare; this place is criminally underrated.

Went to get takeaway desert after a meal at a asian restaurant, ordered our deserts only to be told the affogato can not be a takeout desert but why is it on the takeout menu?? Ended up getting Tiramasu which was ok.

Our dinner was delicious, cannelloni and a pizza. The couple next to us had steaks which were huge and looked great- I had order envy! The service was attentive, unobtrusive and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble, they moved a table to make sure a high chair would fit and then offered to carry our pram to the table which was on the upper floor. The food here is really good, the service even better! The staff were really friendly and helpful. The atmosphere was really nice. Highly Recommend this place. My sister especially liked the smoked salmon pasta. Pepperoni Pizza was pretty good. Pork Belly was very nice and tender with very nice crunchy skin.

The food here is very good. We have been a couple of times now, both times without reservations. Oddly they said most of the tables were reserved and gave us an outside table, but we were served and left and most of the inside tables were still empty. Obviously table turn is not such an issue here.

We were shocked that Osteria did not show up on Yelp. The food was delightful, the service exceptional without being overbearing. We started with a prawn appetizer atop arborio rice and a light yet scintillating cream sauce. My husband ordered the lamb shank. The tender, tasty Meat fell off the bone. He raved about the mashed potatoes. I opted for the duck. It was crisp on the outside, moist and savory under the skin—and not too fatty. Each entree came with a generous helping of vegetables—something that has been missing on most of our previous dinner stops in NZ. The broccoli, carrots and potatoes were cooked but firm and the flavors held up. For dessert, we opted for the tiramisu which was a traditional offering and not overly sweet. A hint of espresso married with chocolate and mascarpone surrounded the ladyfingers-a perfect ending to an extremely satisfying meal.

Fantastic Taupo restaurant, everything was awesome, menu, service and full of ambiance. Will definitely be back.
