Came here on our honeymoon a few years back and it was delicious - I am happy to report there’s still the great same food and service today. This is the ideal cafe stop in Taupo. Today we had the hash stack and eggs Benedict, all perfectly cooked. There’s a strong coffee game here too with nice latte art. Great outdoor seating and ambience.

Absolutely fantastic service! The young Māori woman serving us was very polite and friendly! The food was delicious, I ordered the Hash Stack and it was very well presented. I’d definitely come again if I were going through Taupo

The Spoon and Paddle has a nice relaxed vibe to it, and a lot of nice outdoor seating, which was especially good on a sunny day. The food was delicious and I got more than expected (I had the Bao Buns). Service was quick, and the staff friendly.

Had a beautiful coffee here and the French toast Coffee was perfect temp and taste French toast Was very very sweet and as a dish very heavy and quite hard to enjoy if I'm being completely honest But I will be back the staff that front counter was very lovely and welcoming. So ill give them another try with something a little less sweet

Popped in for a quick lunch. Food was great and the burger portion size was really big. Kids lunches were great too, Had to get a doggy bag for the one of kids as they couldn’t finish their lunch at the time. Outside seating area was great on a warm sunny day. Thumbs up from us.

My first stop on this Road trip up north to highly recommend place called @spoonandpaddle I ordered Waffles 🧇 with White Chocolate and a Berry compote & side of Bacon . Also accompany by a Large soya Mocha. Loved the mocha , great job Kinda sad about the waffle if they were fresh out of the maker it would of be perfect . It was still a 7/10 the meal I would try the eggs Benedict next time . And I be keen to try more ☺️ great hospitality as well very top notice can’t wait to come back

Awesome little cafe, the menu is pretty standard, nothing special but everything on the menu is done to a very high quality. I had the delicious waffles and the iced mocha which had the perfect balance between sweet chocolate and coffee. Along with the amazing customer service, this is a great place to eat. I also love how all the drinks like the Coca-Cola and sprite come in classic glass bottles.

Big place, lots of seating and parking. Away from the town centre so quieter. Everyone is very friendly and service is good. Banana milkshake wasn't a real banana :( but the berry smoothie was nice. The gingerbread French toast is good, but it gets a little heavy after halfway. I liked the waffles the best, the syrups, compotes and gels all worked well. I would go back for the waffles and the berry smoothie.

We were looking for a cafe, just outside the maddening rush of the main street and the Spoon and Paddle fitted the bill perfectly. Fabulous service, great food and VERY good coffee. I came here while seeing family in Taupo. The food was super yummy, the ice coffee was great but the most impressive thing about this cafe was the service. The service was expectational. I ordered over the phone which was super easy to do, food was ready faster than expected, was greeted with a smile and I even had help taking my order to my car. Was a great experience and exceeded my expectations on customer service. Will be back every time I am in Taupo!

Fabulous spot. The service is literally the best service in Taupo they are so friendly and welcoming. The food is delicious and the cafe is super dog friendly too which is a bonus.

Love it here. The coffee was so good and the food was amazing. I'm so glad we found this place. We stayed 3 days in Taupo and we were here twice in the three days. Good amount of space, good parking, prompt food service and the staff were AMAZING! I'll definitely be recommending this place further. I love also the fact it is just a little out of the city centre, as to be away from the hustle bustle. Coming here you feel like you're a 'local' 😉😊

The staff here were FANTASTIC. Pretty much everywhere else in NZ has awful service at the moment now we can't get backpackers in, but this place was great!

I like the atmosphere and this place will be nice for family with children since there's a little playground. Food was okay, but we could get our coffee when we finished breakfast, which was a bit ridiculous. The chair was not that comfortable so we left a bit earlier than we expected but still half an hour for two cups of coffee was too much and the taste wasn't even great 😔

Dropped in on an overcast Monday morning and was pleased with the result. Staff are all very friendly and cheerful, food and drinks came quickly, and the recommendation if the chefs special triple rosti stack was a hit visually and taste wise. Glad I chose to visit!

Shakshukah was delicious - the sauce was just a little bit spicy, the flavours were excellent, the eggs perfectly runny and the flat bread was nicely warmed. My partner's porridge was also very good, served at the perfect temperature and the toppings and flavour was fantastic. Coffee was also great and the venue itself is very pretty and staffed with lots of lovely people - very much recommend this café.

Lovely cafe'. Lots of delicious food choices and absolutely love that they have a kids tree house/ playground outside, with seats close by. We came when the leaves were everywhere and dined outside. Very pretty setting and my son had a blast. Would definitely dine again!

What a delightful lunch we have just had at Spoon and Paddle! We had not heard of it before, so decided to give it a go. I went to this cafe about two weeks ago with my partner. Service was probably some of the best I’ve had - the lovely British girl with the brown hair couldn’t be more accomodating and helpful. It was obviously very busy being a Saturday morning. Actually all the staff were cool, they had a bit of banter and a laugh which was fun. Food was a 10!!! Yum as, and the coffee - keep your barista on. Taupo is a favourite of mine, first time customer at Spoon and Paddle, won’t be the last - cannot recommend more ☺️

It is a nice cafe, The pork belly surprised me, it was tender and tasty. What I did I order the pork belly with salad and I add pork bun on top! So I tried both which is very nice. The lamb shoulder is so nice too Will visit again next time I go to Taupo

The cabinet food is amazing, the a la carte menu is amazing and the staff, typical of Taupo locals, are very friendly, super fast and accomodating. Food is freshly served within minutes. The decor outdoors could use a bit of tidying up - as when we showed up we were hesitant to give it a go bit persevered as the reviews on trip advisor were stellar. Glad we persevered with trying it out. The hash stack was delish and their fresh made mince and cheese pies are the lergest I've ever seen.

I had booked a table for a group of 14. Got confirmation and follow up call to confirm numbers. Plenty of spaces to safely park motorcycles. A beautiful outdoor table with a Gazebo was set up for us. A nice place! We went for breakfast mid morning during school holidays. The kids breakfast menu has variety and the large blackboard menu has a good amount of choices. Hummingbird coffee was nice and hot and service was quick. The staff were attentive and friendly. Will definitely visit again.

On a day when Taupo was absolutely packed it was a pleasure to find Spoon and Paddle just very slightly back from the hoards. Still busy but but a lovely setting. The place is cozy, the staff is helpful and friendly, however, the food is average and overpriced. I got a hashstack with halloumi and mushrooms to make it vegetraian, but when it arrived I just couldnt think of how am gonna eat something soaked in oil. The oil was literally dripping out and it wasnt appetizing at all. We had other stuff with it which was okay. But I would say they are over priced for what they offer food vise.

I went to this cafe last weekend. We were greeted by smiling staff. Minku the manager of the cafe was great and accommodated us really well. Luckily for us it was nice and sunny and we sat outside. Coffee was superb and chicken sandwiches were not only delicious but they were fresh too. Its got a very nice homely vibe to the cafe. I would recommend this cafe to anybody that is visiting taupo even for just a cup of coffee.

Great place for breakfast or lunch. The coffees are good, the food's delicious and it's a cute little spot. It was pretty busy on both days that we went and it was at capacity by the time we finished our meals so get there early to secure a seat. There is outdoor seating available too if the weather is good and a simple playground for kids.

Their Chai Latte is probably the best I've ever had, peanut butter milkshake was delicious. We popped in for lunch on our way driving from Hamilton to Napier. This is a lovely little house set in a pretty garden. It was quite busy but we found a place to sit. The food was fresh and interesting. Service was friendly and fast. A glass of lovely NZ rose completed a great lunch. It's at the quiet end of Heuheu Street and parking is on the street.

A little disappointing. After reading great reviews, we visited Spoon and Paddle for brunch. Meal size was inconsistent, one of the group ordered a side of mushrooms and got 1.5 mushrooms - and not big mushrooms either, the 'big spoon' breakfast also came with 1.5 mushrooms, but the other 'Big spoon' breakfast came with more mushrooms, so that was a bit strange. I had a veggie breakfast and got less than a quarter of an avo. I also love my coffee and was disappointed to get quite a weak coffee.....the pro was our beautiful table in the sunshine and the meals came out relatively quickly (probably because there wasn't much on them!)

Was a bit sceptical of all the excellent reviews walked into a place that was cozy, bright and clean. Was very crowded which is always a good sign but the place is a maze of nooks and crannys so when you do find a seat it does not feel crowded we sat in a room that had a closet that had been repurposed as a toy corner which my daughter appreciated 👍 the food was amazing! Searching for a decent coffee in Taupo and found this place whilst looking for the now defunct French Cafe. Finally people (Nikki and Mike) who care about coffee and can make a long black in a "Tulip" cup with a decent crema. Never mind pretty pictures and frothy milk in flat white etc milk can hide a multitude of sins. Most reviews seem to be written by people drinking white coffees in huge cups with Get there ASAP and try it - the staff are happy to talk to you about the coffee what blend they use or single origin and so on. We will be back tomorrow for another coffe. Support this place and help raise a standard in Taupo. I haven't even mentioned the pleasant garden or the food menu! Mavellous place.
