Love the decor! Love the music that they play! Milkshakes are really good. Beef Burger was good with its homemade pattie and the pickle on it was yum. Savoury pancake stack was nice with the bacon, banana and maple syrup. For the price and the word "stack" I was expecting more pancakes but you get 2. We also tried the steak pie n mash from the $17 trucker menu. The pie was microwaved, wasnt what we expected or very nice.

If you're after a basic but hearty meal this is the place to go. Meals are massive and very reasonably priced. Service from the gentleman behind the counter couldn't have been better, he was an absolute delight.

Fantastic place to grab a feed. Very cool interior space all done up in that old "classic americana" diner theme. Excellent food, great service and an ample amount of seating arrangements throughout.

I was lucky to be brought here once a week as a child. Then it became overpriced. But it's back to nostalgia. The prices, the food quality and especially the staff. So glad we went back for dinner tonight 😁

My husband and I just went for breakfast and it was great!!! The cafes in town are SO overpriced for what you get, but this meal was huge and still less than we normally pay in town. There was only one staff member working, but only us and another table so it must not be busy in the mornings. We thought I would take ages for breakfast, but it was honestly still probably quicker than the other cafes in town. The woman working was really nice too. We will definitely be back, a lot!

Called into Stag Park Diner today on my way back to Turangi, and it was like walking into a time capsule, it was so great to be back, friends and I would come here just after midnight after a great night of drink and sit at the bench and grab some great food. And coming in almost 20 years later grabbing a burger and milkshake it just takes me back to those days. The staff are great, so welcoming and will stop to ask how your day and thats so appealing it makes the experience worthwhile. But the star was definitely the food, I ordered a Southern style chicken burger with fries, and a vanilla milkshake, and I can guarantee that you will be just blown away. Aside from the burger being huge and value for money the flavours were just great. I highly recommend The Local Diner to anyone who is visiting Taupo you will be happy you stopped in.

We think the Stag diner is a wonderful addition to the Taupo food scene. The staff and owner are exceptional hosts. The place could benefit from more custom. The food is cheap, some of it is very good some could be improved otherwise it would be 5 star all over. Milk shakes superb, hotdogs superb too. Burgers are great value but taste could be improved. But its great homemade stuff no standard rubbish amd no more expensive than McDonalds. Please give this place a try. They deserve a bigger audience, they are trying so hard to give an authentic experience which will only get better. Thumbs up!!

These guys have been feeding me for decades. A handful of times, mostly when I was still a kid, this place kept me alive in the cold, cold winter. My god, it was cold. The food is pretty good, generous and made for trucker’s appetites. The staff, throughout the years I’ve known the place, have always been exceptionally friendly and kind. It’s just an all-round good spot for a break from the highway.

My friend ordered a burger and politely told the waitress that the meat pattie smelt off. The waitress was very apologetic and apologised. The Manager then come out with a raw meat pattie in a container, slammed it on the table, and told her to take that home and cook it. She tried to explain that she wasn't complaining and that she just wanted to let staff know. The Manager wreaked of alcohol and was obviously drunk, and handled the situation inappropriately and wasnt as apologetic as his staff. He then went back into his office and carried on drinking. His poor waitress was so embarrassed. Not cool Mr Manager😡

My partner loves it, we stop everytime we pass but I find it a little over rated. I can never find anything on the menu as its typical fried cook up stuff and I'm vegetarian and trying to be healthy. The staff are ok but if you want a quick big breakfast or bowl of hot chips you will love it.
