It’s a great experience. The ambiance is very welcoming and charming. Amazing food and service. Brandon was extremely knowledgeable and make great recommendations. He knows what his doing and you can tell that making the customers happy is the main priority. Thank you Brandon. Highly recommended.

Had a great night out with colleagues. The establishment required that we scan in, and checked out our covid passes. All staff were wearing masks. We had the Christmas special which consisted of shared entries, main, and desert. The portion sizes were generous, and truth to be told I could have stopped at the starters. They have a wide selection of beers, and our sober drivers enjoyed their mocktails. Great view from the upper balcony of the Strand Park.

Food was good, and I like how there were several places we could choose to sit from- upstairs, downstairs, indoors, outdoors- the outdoor area in the upstairs had nice sea views. It took a while for the food to get to the table, but it was quite busy on the day we went there and they were able to kept up a high level of customer service in spite of that.

Tables are narrow so crowded. My meal didn't support the price. Surely there is a system of recording who ordered what instead of a shout out on delivery to a group table. Staff, location, cleanliness I have no issues with. I will avoid where possible.

The Christmas set menu was booked but staffs don't know that much. Manager came and we got special menu. It wa slightly different from the menu I had got, so we tried one set menu and one normal menu (since it says price per HEAD), someone had to ask again to the manager, but we were rejected to do that. Only either both set menu or both normal menu. So we selected two set menu. There was only one starter menu different from the menu I had got and they gave us only one little starter to share. I felt uncomfortable to ask since they would have to say "sorry I am not sure I will ask." so we just sticked one starter. Not sure if it originally only one starter for all of them or they forgot. By the way, except the manager(I assume she is the manager since she is the one who knew about Christmas set menu) everyone was very kind and polite. Food was actually great with big portion. I might visit again when I have chance but I will never book Christmas set menu here and hope the staffs know about this menu. So confused and felt awkward. Free drinks and dessert for all kids menu or Christmas set menu or normal menu means.... the free one applies only for kids menu... Please be clear if you would like to have some promotion, I would have better experiences without that.

We dined at Taurangas Lone Star this evening and had a wonderful meal. The Maitre D and wait staff were all very friendly and attentive. I had a lamb meal and my partner the ribs and both meats were super tender and the Vegetables perfectly cooked. We were very impressed with the whole dining experience.

We had a rather disappointing experience. When we entered, there was no one available to seat us, and after waiting for 5 minutes and watching several waitresses walk past, we just grabbed an empty table and seated ourselves. We eventually got our orders taken and the service in general was quick and efficient. The meals were decent quality, but it was disappointing find out we were charged $2 extra for a half full, small cup of Aioli to go with our chips, while the price of the meal was close to $40. I don't know of any other restaurant in Tauranga that charges extra for Aioli if the meal itself is $35-40. Especially since we also ordered drinks, a starter, etc. It's only $2 so no drama, but I would rather leave a $10 tip for our waitress than pay extra for a bit of sauce.

Hi there. Was my first time at Lone Star Tauranga on Friday 22nd January. Had dinner there and the service was absolutely fabulous. Had a total 5 different staff serve us and all was seamless and friendly. Friday night service staff was 5 star. Went back Saturday 23rd for a late lunch. Okay experience. My son was asleep during the meal and had to go back after we left to get him a kids meal he could eat across the road. Extremely disappointed that wait staff didn't make an effort to explain that Lone Star doesn't do take away drinks. I had to ask for the kids ice cream that comes with the meal to be take away. What's the point of selling take way meals at full price if you don't provide the full meal. No cutlery was provided so had to walk all the way back to get takeaway cutlery and the girls seemed surprised I'd ask for cutlery. Overall disappointing end to our experience with Lone Star Tauranga.

What an amazing experience. The food was awesome and everyone enjoyed every course the garlic bread was to die for the ribs fantastic, the fish was melt in the mouth and the salads fresh and generous. The service was friendly and inviting. Thank you 12pm team for making my partners birthday special and the pav we took home was beautiful. Delicious meal of Pork Ribs and Prawn Star entree size. Very filling and lots of flavour. Drinks were Emersons beer and Hillbilly mocktails- with lime, mint, passionfruit and soda - yum!

Excellent service from both Matthew the Maître D and from Suzie, our waitress. Both delivered genuine and attentive service and our food was very yum. Really enjoyed the hot loaf as our entré! The bun on the Gerhard Burger was quite a bit larger than the pattie itself, which was cooked to well (probably would have been better cooked a little less) and the pattie sort of fell apart as I ate it. Overall still a tasty meal and the Prawn Star main was was very nice too. The place has a very nice atmosphere and really good music. Definitely has a "saloon" feel and lives up to the name of the restaurant. Nice sort of dim lighting and the colours and décor set a nice theme and make for an impressionable dining experience.

Food was good but the service wasn’t. The guy that served us asked my son for ID to which one of my children said “is that your license?” The waiter then went on to say “No but it should be”. Which my son took offence by. I initially thought he knew my son but he didn’t. Because the way he was talking was if he knew him and that’s the way friends would talk to each other. Very unprofessional. Who was he to say who should and shouldn’t have their license? It was photo ID and he didn’t need to say anything else. Not impressed! The other girl working also didn’t smile the whole time we were there and said minimal. Please note: His ID was an 18+ card. The issue was that this guy in his opinion thought my son should have his license and made a point of embarrassing him in front of his siblings and girlfriend.

A busy school holiday night but we were happy to take a high table in the bar area. Staff were friendly and kept checking we were okay. Handled our gluten free request well. Food was (mostly) good quality and well prepared, drinks were nice and desserts were tasty. A pleasant night out.

Service was really great, kind and efficient waitress and waiter. 😀 Ribs great, chicken knibbles very dry, squid rings great, prawns were really awful sorry 😞 we were looking forward to the muscles as we enjoy them so much from your Auckland branch, but there were not available as they ran out??? We dined at 5.15. So I opted for the prawns and that was a big rubbery NO. Steak did not seal, so it was like boiled meat...almost like it was not cooked on a red hot plate to seal that meat. Sides were OK. Sorry I used critique food and have eaten in a few of your Restaurants, so please take my criticism as an opportunity to aim for a better standard . Our meal was a gift from my daughter in the States so was disappointed 😞

Staff would consistently check in on us which was nice. I got two Gerhard burgers with chips and aioli (a lot of food for one). My burgers were not hot/fresh and quite dry (no sauce in either burger, so I used my aioli from chips). The chips were not warm either. We did have a group of 12, however, I do not think that should justify the quality/ freshness of the meal. The garlic bread to share was delicious. I also must confess that I did not approach anyone regarding the quality of my meal, but saw the manager sort out another complaint from a different group and handled it well.

We have actually been going to the Lone Star regularly for many family occasions and our recent visit was just as good as the last, the food is excellent, it is really good value for money as the portions sizes are awesome, I recommend the Redneck Ribs or the Lasso of Hog if you are really hungry

Good variety on the menu with overly generous portions. You will not go hungry leaving here. Prices are generally in the above medium range. Watch out for the extras you may wish to add in: I had the BBQ ribs and had to pay an extra $5 for the chips and slaw.

Always a great atmosphere with younger kids, it's hard to find places that are suitable for a 2 year old. Food was good and staff were all really lovely and very accommodating. It would be great if they could have a bit more lighting as it was very dark and hard to read the menus even for our young eyes

I love the Lone Star restaurants, but when I came to the one in Tauranga on New Years day I was a little bit let down. The waitress took so long to come and serve us when we were ready to order, I almost thought she forgot that we were even there lol. We were seated outside and it was a bit breezy, when another group left their leftover food was sitting out for at least 15 minutes and lots of seagulls came down and were eating all their food and then a bird knocked a glass off the table and it knocked some plates off too, which smashed all over the ground. So staff should pay more attention to their jobs I think... My dixie chicken meal was OK, I get it at every Lone Star restaurant (Palmerston North, Taupo, Wellington) and they're all AMAZING but the one I got at Tauranga wasn't that great so I felt a bit let down, I don't know what they do to it but it's not as nice here as it is at other Lone Stars.

Must have been good cause there was nothing left but chips.... although there is an abundance of them. Staff were very accommodating, friendly and happy - great service. Little pricey but you pay for what you get and we were happy to pay the bill. Sat outside and the sun came to the party, sunshine and the view - A for amazing. Recommend downloading the LoneStar app, you get a free desert for doing that and you get loyalty points. Thanks for the experience.

Food Food Food. High quality food , genuine big portions and well cooked by the chef. Wonderfull place to go with family and very kids friendly. They have some painting competitions to encourage kids to color during the meal. Lovely staff quick. Sometimes gets really busy. I would recommend a listing to avoid waitings, however is a pretty big venue and you can seat in a high chair table that are easily more vacant and located in a great area in the place. Lone star is legendary. Awesome food , high quality , higiene, lovely service and unbelievable drinks at the bar. Try one of the drinks from the drinks menu. you gonna love it. I cant wait to have another go to Lonestar Tauranga

Saturday night just before 6pm and it's a full house. I was eating in the bar area - one person only. Very friendly service. Yes, a hot water only is nice with/after a meal :-) I was just very disappointed, that my 6ribs with sauce and fries and coleslaw were all a heap of ribs with fries and coleslaw smothered in sauce beneath the ribs. By the time I got down to them (fries n coleslaw) they were drowned. Fries soft and insipid and coleslaw actually unpleasant. The sauce overpowered everything. Suggestion: some sauce on top and some in an extra dish. The fries and coleslaw arranged, so they keep their own taste. I understand, its a franchise and has to be discussed with headquarters first. I wilk not order that dish again, if I can't get the sauce (bulk if it) separately. But when living 3.5hours drive to any lonestar it might be even more likely, I will chose a different restaurant in the first instance. Would have loved to see a baked/jacket potato on the menu.

I've eaten at Lone Star several times but never thought about doing a review. However last night was so exceptional that I just had to. We had a booking for 9 people but just as we were getting ready to leave my nephew fell and gashed his chin. We took him to 2nd Ave medical and advised Lone Star that we wouldn't be able to make our booked time, but we'd still like to come whenever he'd finished at the Drs. They were totally understanding and sympathetic. When we finally arrived an hour late they couldn't have been more helpful, and speedily organised a table for us. The meals were up to their usual high standards, and the portions so generous that we brought leftovers home with us. The manager was very kind to my nephew and came to check on him several times, and finally presented him and the other children with free Lone Star t-shirts. Thank you Lone Star for rescuing our evening from disaster, instead we left buzzing from a wonderful evening.
