r. m.This is one if the nicest places I've visited in New Zealand..great steak burger ..my husband enjoyed his meal and these wonderful people helped us when our car packed up in the middle of nowhere..they drove and collected my husband at the roadside..were so understanding of his dementia..what great service to match the wonderful meals we were then served!!! Such genuinely nice people x
A. L.Awesome place. Great burgers and at a very good price. Had a great stop. Couple of cold beers on the bar then a good big feed in the restaurant. Great old style country pub bloody good owners and patrons. A great place to stop have beer and burger. Pat the dogs, sit and watch the world go by. A must stop to just sit and relax.
C.Great little spot to stop at on the way through the Napier Taupos. Lovely menu. I recommend putting up a sign saying food/coffee/toilets in 1-2km sign up to let people know! It’s a secret gem

S. M.Good morning tea on our trip. (Did you make those delicious scones?) Fun, quirky decorations inside, and the lady who kept the place open and made us coffees on our return journey was a star, taking the payments, making excellent coffees, and all very speedy and efficiently delivered with a smile and a chat. Awesome place!
T. C.Stopped for a driving rest break and ended up having a meal (Steak & Egg Burger for her and a Steak Meal for Him). Meals were sensational and the host, Aaron, kept us entertained the whole time. Highly recommend stopping here.

A. J.5/5 and WORTH EVERY CREDIT! These people are open long hours and on a shoe string to provide good tucker at all hours to Truckies and travellers. We've only ever had good things to speak about and yes the old fella can be brutally to the truth with a few expletives but that's simply old school kiwi style Roadhouse banter.
The awards speak for themselves.
Keep up the good work guys and thank you for offering a much better service than Stagg Park.....Stagg Park was my favorite but it simply got too greedy and quality bloody shocking!

The steak burgers were the best I've had in any country, will make sure we stop at this gem again as the food exceeds the price by a mile.
Fresh salad and crisp chips make this a massive winner in anyone's book!

G.Dad used to stay there in the 1930's so it is a tradition for me to stop there to. Excellent food and more importantly excellent friendly staff. Don't expect table cloths and napkins or a short break but the best place to stop for a good break on the road. Highly recommended and Loved

M. S.Yes, it's a truck stop. Yes, it's kinda basic. But for a few bucks you get seriously tasty food in Herculean portions. For lunch en route between Napier and Taupo, this is it.

S. W.Definitely 3 stars. But in a nice way. The proprietor (I think his name is Duncan) is a character. The pies are good. The cooked breakfast was fine. The toilets are clean. There are portables on blocks with beds in them if you need to stay the night.
If you have an electric car, they will let you charge it here (16amp Blue Commando plug) for a few dollars. It's open earlier and later than the Tarawera Cafe, the only other significant stop between Taupo and Napier.

P. S.Have done a lot of driving between Tauranga and Havelock North the last couple of years. This is a great, almost halfway place to stop off for a coffee and stretch the legs.
