c.Sugo literally blew our minds for vegan food! We came down from Auckland for one night for my 25th Birthday. We tried to book a table but we’re told Sugo we’re fully booked so we thought, we will still try our luck and see what they can do. They managed to squeeze us in and we got a cute little table in their really aesthetically pleasing restaurants. We ordered 3 vegan mains and shared them between my self and my partner. Oh my vegan heaven! So yummy! Staff are super friendly too. Thanks for our evening Sugo x

T.Amazing food and the best service! We ate their with our 2.5yr old and even the kids meals were delicious. Can’t recommend the food enough, beautiful flavours and not over done. A.If you are looking for a great Italian Place look no further! This nice restaurant is located on Wharf Street with both indoor and outdoor setting options available.
The staff were super friendly and the bartenders made recommendations based on our previous drink or meal which added to the night.
They had a nice selection of Cocktails, wines, beers. Highly recommend getting a start or entre before dinner. We had the Parmesan and Mozzarella coated olives; and I had the Zucchini Salad which was Devine (minus the mint which added a weird texture).
The Lasagna which I had for dinner was amazing. The first one the chef wasn’t happy with so they remade it. Talk about quality control, these guys did an amazing job.
Highly recommend it!
F.Fancy some superb Italian food while you are in Tauranga? Then Sugo, located in the city's restaurant quarter on Wharf Street, is the place to go. Sit outside under the lights and the stars (Tauranga has the best skies) and treat yourself and someone special to a long, languid dinner.
We combined a selection of starter and snack dishes (pizza crust with roasted garlic, Marinated olives, and a crumbed Gorgonzola) with a superb Sugo Margarita Pizza topped with mozzarella, kalamata olives, cherry tomatoes and basil. And, of course, a glass of Chianti or two! Bella Bella!

Tiger prawns were excellent, St John's pizza sublime!
And the food was HOT! (temperature hot), a dying art these days.
Great atmosphere, attentive staff (with the exception of the maitre d, all young women), a must when in Tauranga.
T.My mum and I visited Sugo for dinner on Mother's Day for their set menu. Everything was absolutely delicious and it was a great way to try several dishes at once for a fair price. The service was exceptional – we were recommended the panna cotta which was amazing! I've come here with vegetarian friends and the plant-based menu meant that everyone was catered for – highly recommend! Sugo also offers gift vouchers which make for a lovely gift.

P.Great to have a contemporary restaurant in Tauranga. The occasional whinge in a couple of other reviews about noise should be ignored. Noise levels are fine, and as expected for a busy restaurant. Perhaps those people would be better off getting room service in their rest home, FFS... Anyway(!), the food at Sugo is very good. The ricotta tortellini, cauliflower pizza, vego bolognese and tiramisu in particular. Decent wine list by glass and bottle. The beer selection might benefit from inclusion of a porter for the winter months. Staff were nice but kept poaching my drinks menu! Will be back.
N.Amazing Italian! We dined outside with our dog - they were very dog friendly and even brought us a water bowl out. Would highly recommend the pasta dishes. Customer service was faultless! Thanks sugo - we will be back!
A.Recently I chose to have my 30th birthday dinner at Sugo with a big group of my friends, the staff were so friendly and accommodating to all of the requests we had, and of course the menu was utterly devine! The beef cheek lasagna is life changing!! Shout out to Nasser for being so helpful. We had a really fabulous night!

Excellent service, lovely food, reasonably priced, would rate as a 5 star but have to traverse stairs to go to toilet only drawback. Their computerised accounting system is the best I have come across. Makes payment when in a group so easy.

S.My partner and I had the most wonderful experience at Sugo today, friendliest staff and gorgeous decor made us fall in love instantly, then the cocktails and food arrived, hands down best cocktails in Tauranga, so well balanced and beautiful. B.Down from Auckland, wandering around Tauranga downtown looking for dining place, came across Sugo. Need go no further, great vibe, good earthy Italian flavor all about and plenty of flavor in my Beef Cheek Lasagne. My wife and I enjoyed the dining experience and highly recommend this place - atmosphere, service, great food and chock s block full of patrons which speaks for itself👍👍

C.Sugo sits in a light, attractive warehouse- like building with lovely ambience. Theatrical entertainment was provided by the cocktail maker behind the bar.
One of our table had eaten here before and loved it. As vegetarians, we were delighted with the plant based menu, though it wasn’t provided until requested. We chose the mushroom bolognese. This dish was oily and rich. I would have loved some tomato based sauce to lighten the density of the mushrooms. Two of us managed to get through half that served- $32 as a main. We had arancini as a starter. They were pretty average in flavour and came just warm on the outside. The food is served on really attractive plates and I loved the cloth napkins.
The tiramisu dessert was delicious.
The maître d was clearly disappointed I didn’t tip. We appreciated the sincerity of the efforts in the kitchen and those of the wait staff. Nothing stood out as excellent for us.
Overall we wouldn’t rush back.

We booked for 3 ppl but staff tried to fit us into a small table that looks like for 2 ppl, even though we booked in advance for 2 days. So we asked to move to the bigger table as it’s too tight for us(we ordered 7 dishes), then she moved us to the table for 4 ppl with an unfriendly face.
