Reviews of Ristorante Pizzeria Paradiso
G.
Absolutely delicious pizza. Lovely crisp smokey bases using the right amount of semolina. They do the Italian classics very well, along with some other more interesting items like pizzas with a pea base. The one we had was a revelation - I'm not kidding.
We're not vegans, but I doubt there's a better place to eat in Te Anau if you are one.
The service was excellent, especially given how few servers there were and how busy it was. We were treated like queens.
K.
Wow. We didn’t know where to eat in Te Anau and so glad we chose this place. Garlic bread divine. Venison pizza we added mushrooms and it was just delicious - big chunks of tender venison. Chilli oil on top just made it. Highly recommend this family business - keep them open!!
J.
Every time we are in Te Anau we always drive past and we always say we must try this place out one day. Well today was the day. We made a booking for our evening meal. It was quiet when we arrived. The service was quick and the staff were really friendly. Our meals came out very quick and they were beautiful. By the time. we were ready to leave the restaurant was full. I'm so glad we tried it out. Be sure to make a booking. You won't be disappointed. We had a .Margarita Pizza, a Chicken, Cranberry & Brie Pizza and a Tiramisu for Dessert. Beautiful.
N.
BEST Te Anau Vegan dining option. Amazing vegan pizza options with fantastic plant based cheeses. Loved it so much. Also great sticky date pudding and Gelato . Good service and knowledgeable staff.
F.
Got a massive Calzone. Was a bit too moist, as a result some parts were a bit soggy. But still tasted very good, and woodfire is always nice, so no complains, great place. Friendly staff
K.
Always a favorite for us when we wanna 'eat out'. How good is it when you can order wine by the carafe (just like in Italy). We ordered our preferred options..... Garlic and Rosemary pizza bread for entrée, and the calzone to share for a main (it's just like a folded pizza).... Yum. The friendly and happy table service is the bonus. Keep up the good work guys 👍
L.
Absolutely delicious pizza and dessert! I lived in Italy years ago and this pizza took me back. The service was fantastic. We will definitely be back!
A.
Great atmosphere, pizza was good although rather oily for my liking. Maybe given the fancy names of the pizzas that's how it supposed to be, I don't know.
Otherwise a pleasant meal.
K.
Pizzas are good here but DO NOT eat here if there are more than 10 tables seated.
Almost 2 hours for a single pizza on a Sunday night - if you can’t serve the food, don’t seat the customers.
Lots of excuses from the staff about having “6 chefs” previously. By my count they could produce 36 pizzas an hour with the owner acting as chef and were taking takeaways orders along with restaurant sittings.
Stop apologizing - your pizza is good - but the experience is terrible. Sort your systems out and you would get 5 stars.
C.
Amazing authentic wood fired pizza, friendly attentive staff. Warning the kids salami pizza had spicy pepperoni on it but the staff were very quick to replace. Highly recommend.
J.
Outstanding pizza! Had the spicy chook and salmon pizzas with a lamb shank on the side. Lite base which still maintained it's integrity. Shank was a little dry but also very nicely crisped around the edges so that's the trade-off. Exquisite creme brulé - perfectly crisp sugar top without any curdling of the custard beneath - and and affogato for desert. Attentive, friendly staff without being overbearing. Fast service while under the pump during busy service time.
A.
I like the pizzas here. The gluten free crust was ever so slightly burnt on the edges but everything else about it was good. It’s hard to go wrong with wood fired!
The caprese is not a traditional layered caprese, it’s just tomato slices on a plate with a ball of cheese in the middle. Same with the pear salad, it’s just pear slices on a plate with a bunch of rocket underneath. I would just stick with pizza in future.
S.
Highly recommend the plant based pizzas. Our group tried two unique pizzas that used a pea puree base that I haven't seen anywhere else and they were absolutely delicious.
K.
The garlic toast is really delicious. Seafood Pescatora has great flavor, but unfortunately the pasta itself isn't fresh...
For dessert, I really enjoyed the Creme Brulee! My friends liked the Tiramisu but I think it was a little too heavy.
L.
Fantastic pizza, one of the best I've had, the base was perfectly cooked and toppings were delicious. The venison pizza was great, all the venison was perfectly cooked medium and tasted great. I loved the pepperoni pizza with the chilli oil. Was a bit smokey and service was a let down, felt pressured to have dessert but overall good food.
T.
A nice family spot for Pizza. We had a nice Pizza with garlic bread. It was served warm and quickly. The owners were very friendly and accommodating.
I.
Really enjoyed the food here. The tomato zuppa was a particular favourite. Portions were good especially for the pizza. Ingredients were also really generous and the service staff were extremely friendly. Strongly recommend this place for those that love a good pasta or pizza.
Z.
The only pizzeria in the lower South island where you can eat Calzone.
Others should learn and add Calzone to their menu.
韩.
We 2 ordered a pasta of Smoked Salmon of Spaghetti and a Family Favorite of BBQ Chicken and a can of Coco Cola. It cost us 60NZD in total. It is so delicious that we ate them all with nothing left. We waited for the delivery for over 15mins as the waiter guy at the counter forgot to place our order so you have to follow your order cas there are floods of customers at the restaurant. We sat outside and the view was pretty good.
H.
Absolutely amazing little restaurant right in the middle of the town. Food was incredible and was lovely chatting to the owners. A must stop on your way to Milford Sound or on your return.
K.
Ordered 2 Margherita pizzas from here yesterday, tops any other pizza place I've tried and i love my pizza! You won't be disappointed 😋🤩
M.
The fish was good. We didnt like the dough for the pizza. It was good size though to avoid overeating.
The restaurant is pretty popular. Customers are streaming in non stop during dinner time
P.
Beautiful place with true Italian feel and taste. Gelato. The pizza was so tasty, fresh toppings, the dough is really Italian cranchy and excellent. Loved the Friendly staff.
K.
We really enjoyed our woodfire pizza and steak here. Would definitely come here again!
The rib-eye steak was cooked to perfection, mushroom sauce fantastic and potato gratin great.
Service was very attentive.
N.
Amazing place ...after being let down by service and huge wait times elsewhere had limited time to grab something to eat. Nothing too much for them and had a wonderful pizza takeaway in 5 mins. Thankyou very much !!
M.
Super friendly staff and amazing pizza out of a fire oven. You don’t find this too often. So definitely highly recommended :)
f.
We were late, dso hungry snd still have a long drive home. Super grateful to sarah who made us so welcome and looked after us like she cared. Bravo!
A.
I am obsessed with the chef's salad at Paradiso, it is so good! I have it with the smoked salmon and it's a full and satisfying meal. It's perfect after a long day and I'm feeling depleted and certainly don't feel like cooking something nutritious for myself - it's restorative food. I love the suite of flavours, they're some of my favourites: fresh sliced pear, feta, walnuts and rocket, julienned raw beetroot and carrot - sometimes it's spinach or mesculun or rocket based - I like these changes, it makes it feel seasonal. Or there might be a scattering of cranberries or rocket flowers... it's always artfully done and super delicious. I could buy the ingredients and try to make it myself, but I know it wouldn't taste anywhere near as good! And by the way, their pizzas are great too - don't expect three cups of regurgitated-looking something that's supposed to be topping - no they are far more refined and authentic than that. Toppings are delicious and the pizza is proper Italian in style, cooked in a big Italian stone pizza oven, just perfect every time. Kids pizzas are delightful with bears' ears made from pizza dough. And did I mention the gelato they make themselves? My favourite is the Fig and Manuka Honey, it's simply divine! My kids like all the chocolate flavours and there's some delicious fruit sorbets as well. The owners Finn and Sarah are as delightful as their food - they're warm and genuine and I suspect that just like an Italian Mamma, they put a little bit of love into all their cooking, which is why it tastes so good. Buono!
E.
Very popular and excellent family run pizzeria. We ahaf a green salad, pizza quattro formatio and gnocchi and finished with homemade stragiotelli icecream. They have peroni beer on the tap. Clearly a good place to eat. Recommendable.
T.
Staff were super busy as the place was packed with hungry hikers fresh off the Milford track. Pizza was yummo. Loved the wood fired pizza out front.
J.
The food was absolutely delicious. Definitely recommend and we are coming back.
S.
So tasty and the portions are huge! We just got in at about 9pm and we're eye so glad they were open! Would recommend cant wait to go back and try some other tasty dishes. We got a calzone tonight.
B.
My family and I ate here on the first night of our holiday, we had takeaway pizza which we absolutely loved. Our daughter said it was one of the best she has had and our son did his "Happy food dance" (he's 3). So on our last night we decide to treat ourselves to eating out, and the kids picked the Pizzeria Paradiso. Best decision we made to treat ourselves, the lamb shank was delicious, especially with the recommendation of the rock salt. Our pizzas were amazing every single bite. Highly highly recommend for the food, if that isn't enough the service was absolutely wonderful - I felt like we were eating in with Whānau, conversation was great and super friendly making sure we all had everything we needed or wanted. Definitely recommend for anyone wanting to eat amazing pizza and feel like you're around a beautiful family. Thank you so much
S.
The wood fired pizzas here are as good as you’ll get, even compared to pizzas we ate in Italy! The Spicy Chook had perfect toppings and flavour but could have had more spice. The pasta meal (Fettuccine Alfredo) was also very good. Needless to mention how good the desert was.
C.
Pizza was very well cooked with love and took great time and effort very much appreciated thanks to the chief and the wonderful waitress's great service they were all so kind would definitely recommend for family’s and any group would come back in a heartbeat. Thank you Paradiso Staff
D.
Been waiting for over 2 years for pasta to come back on the menu. The last 6 or more visits i have been told the same thing, Sorry there's no pasta on tonight but the special is lasagna.
M.
Their pizza is perfectly baked via wood fire. The italian chef is very friendly! We also ordered rum and raisin gelato is a must try too! A great pizza place when you stop by Te Anau.
J.
These guys usually have a long line, but it's for good reason. The pizzas are delicious, and even the meatballs and Greek salad we got were somehow so delicious I almost didn't want to swallow them!
The only downside is the wait to be seated and served when they're busy, and the food is pretty expensive for the average traveller.
C.
Have been dining here on every one of our visits to New Zealand. Nice and bright atmosphere in this proud family restaurant, the owners are wonderful, service is excellent, prices are more than reasonable and the food is absolutely delicious. We love going there and will always go back. You will not be disappointed unless you are impossible to please.
E.
Went here last night and loved it! The waitress was so friendly and welcoming and the pizza bread was delicious
N.
If you are in NZ you need to come here for the pizza - best in the country Neapolitan Margareta and Florian sooooo good
M.
I’m Italian so I think I’ve got enough skills to judge this firewood pizza .
The pizza “ 4 formaggi “ was decent , nothing special
The pizza “ paradiso “ was too dry , I was so hungry so I finished it anyway
I’m not a professional expert in pizza but I think something was wrong with the pizza base , too powdery
The restaurant was 70 % full , I didn’t want to wait so I decided to eat outside and it was cold , the service was unorganized .
A.
Great buzzing atmosphere and friendly service.
Pizza was delicious and tasted great.
S.
Forget the other pizza available in town if you are a wood fired consumer. The pizza size is small, for a big eater. The salad was good too. Didn't have the pasta but it looked delish being served. Oh, and then there is gelato (that one wandering by can get them to dish out of the cart in front). With the Vespa parked at the door they are going for true Italian, and it does taste like a bit of Italy here.
A.
Great pizza, BBQ chicken had capsicum on it that smothered the flavours of the pizza and make it very wet but service was fanatastic 🍕
b.
The venison pizza needs correction.. meat pieces are too big, loosing out juices all over pizza. Making it soggy and difficult to eat. How can you not think about it, if you are selling only pizza.
F.
Best pizza in NZ!! Highly recommend it! Super friendly staff and amazing food.
The restaurant is super busy so it's totally normal and understandable if it takes a little while for your food to come. Just chill out relax, drink a beer and wait for your pizza. Its more than worth it!!!
V.
Beautiful pizza, friendly service and nothing on a cold wet miserable day than a hot blackcurrant drink!
D.
Excellent pizza. I got a calzone which was bigger than my face. The sauce to 'zone ratio was a bit light, but both tasted delicious. My fiance got the spicy chicken pizza and loved it.
We did not need to get two, they were both massive and would easily have fed us, even come fresh off a four day hike.
4 stars for no Wi-Fi.
r.
Finger licking , delicious Italian food with great wine to match . Love the gnocchi n the calzone/ pizza combo - great authentic flavours .
G.
Wooden fire oven is awesome, the pizzas are delicious and super friendly service!
H.
We would definitely recommend this place. The garlic bread was perfectly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The pasta was delicious; well cooked and had great flavour. To top it all off, the pizza definitely didn't disappoint! Must try when you're in the area.
K.
Beautiful wee place. The owners of the restaurant were very charming and welcoming. Had a good laugh with them. Sorry I didn't have blue cheese on my pizza haha! Wish them all thr best. Kat (from Dunedin) :-)
K.
We had a delicious Garlic Bread and Wood Fired Pizza, amazing food with great service and friendly local staff. Lovely truffles too.... Keep up your great work
S.
Amazing food ! Very cozy ! The staff is very friendly! There was holiday rush and a bit of wait time when we visited, so the food was delayed but worth the wait !
R.
The food was great but the service was average. Loved the desserts and gelato
B.
Great Food, great service, so warm and inviting. We would revisit without a doubt and in fact went twice while we were in TeAnau. . Authentic wood fire pizza that we loved, fun and welcoming hosts, a perfect way to end the day.
J.
Really good wood fired pizza, one of the best in NZ. We got excellent service both times we went—once when they were busy and another night when it was quieter. All of the staff were really friendly, they even brought toys for our toddler son.
L.
I actually laughed at this place as we drove into town. But while looking on Google at places to eat we saw a photo of one of their pizzas which looked really promising. Between covid and Easter there weren't as many options as usual so we decided to give it a go.
So glad we did! We got the napoletana margherita pizza which was amazing! It was true Italian woodfire style. We also got tiramisu and creme brulee for dessert which were SO delicious! Definitely recommend!
The service was a little off though. Some of the waitresses were lovely but one slightly older lady who seemed to be the manager or owner wasn't so great. Very strange, chaotic greeting. She then asked us to wait on the couch while she got our table ready. She returned a moment later asking us to follow her only to have us stand and wait while she set the table. After being seated she then informed us that due to Easter having been so busy they weren't doing any of the pasta or a few of the starters, there goes half the menu. Would have been nice to know this beforehand.
Over all though I'd say the great food is worth putting up with the slightly sub par service and cheap aesthetics.
Don't judge a book by its cover!
D.
One of the better pizza place around in NZ and probably Te Anau. Takeaway takes about 15 minutes. Taste is above average but could be better.
P.
Such a nice service, food are quick, I get my order quickly in a crowed customers, tastety pizza
T.
One of the best Tiramesu I have ever had. Pretty bug place. Really huge and a variety of pizzas are available. The menu is amazingly big and have loads of option to choose from if you are not in the mood for pizza. Not to mention the staffs are very very good.
J.
Honestly the vest pizza I've ever had!
I.
Best pizza I've had in NZ! Must try! 5/5
E.
Great service, pizzas were tasty, beer was cold!!
G.
Flavors were great and the owner was really friendly!
L.
Excellent! We arrived without a reservation and they were busy, however we were seated almost immediately. Waiters were all friendly especially our server Robyn, orders taken quickly and food arrived fast. The restaurant was warm, cozy and decor authentic. We've had pizza all over the world and this was some of the best we've enjoyed - lovely thin, crispy bases and tasty toppings. Far superior to the competition!
G.
Great pizza's. The staff were under pressure with a crowed venue, but they coped.
A.
Really nice place, on holiday here and went here with local friends, lovely gluten free options nice atmosphere, really pleasant staff thanks so much really nice evening.
T.
Pizza was absolutely fantastic! We ordered the napoletana margherita. traditional italian style pizza. Dessert was great as well. We Drove past this place when we arrived and to be honest it looked terrible. However, food was amazing! Service wasn't the best.
D.
We stopped by for a quick dinner. There is a good choice of pizzas including vegetarian. We found the place busy, good service and good food.
N.
Great service first and foremost! The fact the food was brilliant as well sums up a great evening had.
Very accommodating with our 4 and 6 year old and good kids options. Vege pizza for shared entre was stellar and vege pasta dish was a delight mixed with the red wine ‘Gamay Noir’
S.
best of te anau. super friendly stuff and great food. the pasta is amazing
G.
Amazing pizza and lovely dessert options! Service was amazing! Very authentic Italian staff, got a bit of a wierd face from a staff member after Ordering an espresso with lemon but hey can blame her anything! :D see you again!
M.
Nice Italian style restaurant!
Great pizza Bella and coffee, the only thing to be improved is the service. It took a bit long time to get an order and to get a bill as well. Other than that we enjoyed!
B.
Arrived on the late bus from Queenstown, made welcome and delicious food. No sense of rush even though we were last guests to leave. Doggy bag lunch for the first day of the Milford track tomorrow.
L.
Lovely Italian restaurant, serves great wood fired pizza, and a variety of pastas and other dishes. Very friendly staff, and good selection of alcohol. Can also order food as takeaway Would recommend to anyone Inn area to try for dinner!
M.
We loved this place so much that we ate here both nights we stayed in Te Anau. It’s obviously a family owned and operated restaurant - we picked 5 of the family working. The commitment to delivering a high standard of food and service was very apparent. It was very busy both nights but the service didn’t suffer. We ate pastas one night and pizzas the next. Some of the best you’ll find in provincial New Zealand.
K.
Had spent a day travelling, one of the only places open but so glad we went, got a big wave to come inside, seated straight away, such a welcoming atmosphere!
The food was really good, decent helping, (even got our pasta peppered).
The lady Sarah, such a lovely person, will defs visit again!
H.
Pizza is a bit overpriced but worth every penny. It is absolutely delicious, even our kids who hate pizza back home raved about how lovely it was after eating every last bite. The owner is a wonderful man, there was a bit of a mix up and he went above and beyond to make us happy.
H.
We dropped in for dinner without a reservation, and although most tables inside and out were taken we were served politely, quickly, efficiently and with a smile. My pizza was really excellent, and my partner loved her pasta pescatora. Although it must have been pretty chaotic in the kitchen they sure seem to know what they are doing. I would say this would be a reliable and very enjoyable choice for lunch or dinner in Te Anau
P.
We stopped for a lunch after a drive from Queenstown and the meal we had was refreshing. The pastas were really good and the host was very friendly. The dessert was really good as well. Overall, a very satisfying experience and am sure to visit again
A.
Absolutely loved this place. It was a sheer delight after our previous disaster evening at the Ranch Grill and bar. Service was excellent and attentive and friendly. The bruschetta was tasty and the gnocchi (we had the beef and the prawn) was excellent. We were enjoying the evening so much we had dessert. Creme brulee and salted caramel panacotta, both delightful made better by the liqueurs we had (having asked for a menu the owner came over to discuss what we liked etc and gave us a taste first and then a supersize offering) wish this was our local Italian restaurant.
H.
Great variety of pizza, mine was very tasty and cooked perfectly. Friendly service. Would recommend.
C.
We had a meal twice here during our visit to Te Anau. One was lunch and one was dinner. Only downside we felt is place is slightly expensive. We ordered a vegetarian pizza both the times and it was simply delicious. Had also ordered a pasta which was good. Staff is very friendly. Restaurant decor is very cute anr I really love the red car which is always parked near their entrance. Gives a great look.
A.
We ate early on a Saturday evening. We were greeted by friendly staff, and served our dishes in reasonable times. My partner had fish, I had a pasta dish. Both were well presented, tasty and of good serving size. Lovely, casual and satisfying meal!
S.
Good pizzas but bit pricey. Approximately NZ$28 per large pizza. We had some venison pizza which wasn't too bad; but not enough meat though. Some pizza slices didn't have any meat at all. You could do better for the price.
J.
We were here for dinner. We managed to get an inside table, but the place filled up very quickly after, so it's advisable to book.
We had the Venison steak, the Rib-eye, the fish of the day, and a couple of pizzas and pastas.
The steaks were cooked medium rare as requested. The pizzas and pastas were good.
The service was good however the restaurant does charge a surcharge for credit cards.
J.
Authentic and delicious Italian. Good service.
4 stars as the price is a little steep to be honest
M.
The pizza was amazing, the crust was crunchy and delicious, it was a real Italian pizza and trust me I am Italian I know, the creme brule that i ordered for dessert was even better then the main it was one of the best dessert expirience I had in a while
R.
Absolutely fantastic! One of the best pizzas that I’ve had in my life. Perfect crust, right amount of good quality toppings. We also got the Alfredo fetuccini and it was equally outstanding. Staff was friendly and service was fast. What a gem of a restaurant!
J.
Great pizza and service - totally recommend for families to enjoy
J.
My friends and I came to Ristorante Pizzeria Paradiso around 10pm on our way back from a big day Kayaking at Milford Sounds. All the other restaurants in town where closed and it was clear these guys were finishing up for the night. However they were very accommodating and keep the pizza oven on so that we could have some dinner very late at night.
That pizza was delicious and there service was outstanding.
Make sure to stop by on your way to or from Milford Sounds :)
G.
Super wood fired pizza and Peconic... just like Italy. Yum.
A.
We waited for half an hour for 2 pizzas even though the restaurant was basically empty (4pm). 2 tables who came after us were served before us (their pizzas were made in a same “batch” as ours). Most of the time we were waiting we could see a pizza guy preparing dough for evening guests. It really looked like they forgot our order but no one apologised. Pizza was ok though. We wanted to have a dessert and coffee but changed our mind. Never coming back.
J.
So happy to stop in here; authentic Italian food and excellent personable service, cosy vibes, and food came out surprisingly quick for the fantastic quality. Loved watching the wood fired pizza oven in the middle of the restaurant too. I appreciated the vegetarian options too- had the pasta with pear with a beautiful sauce of celery, walnut tomato and cheeses... yum!!!
K.
Great to see a restaurant so popular and busy. Food was great. Pity none of the main menu items were not available. I deducted one star because I was looking forward to the Wild Venison Steak.
R.
Service was great and excellent space.
Pizza and pasta was great. Just missing that wow factor in the food.
As the 4 star option says when I click on it, 'liked it'
W.
Truly an oasis, genuinely fine Italian food. While I am sometimes hesitant to try ethnic food away from its natural milieu, this place had a certain look and it did not disappoint. Wonderful pizza and perfectly prepared pasta. Wish I had taken a calzone for the road, my mouth is watering just thinking about it.
B.
Great authentic Italian pizza. This is the way Italians make them. Lovey thin crust with ingredients that blend beautifully without over doing flavours. Great service too.
P.
The best pizza I had in a long time. The pizza chef was from Roma, so it is definitely a authentic Italian experience. I did however get a little sick (could have been the mushrooms) and thus, only 4 stars...
J.
Amazing food place!! Love the seafood pasta ❤️❤️
R.
Good food. Bad timing. Expensive.
We were starving when we walked up to be seated. The hostess was nice and gave us a seat in the busy restaurant, this was easy since there were only 2 of us.
After ordering we ran out of things to talk about during our 1.5 hour wait time. Since we had ordered our food already we though it would be rude to leave and waste any possible food. A very simple order of garlic bread, pizza, and a bowl of gnocchi.
After 1.5 hours, the pizza arrived. Unfortunately, it was completely raw upon arrival. I sent it back and watched the cook fight with the waitress. She came back to inform us that they would make another.
Another 15 minutes pass before the new pizza arrived at the table. This pizza was also raw in the center. At this point I am starving so I decide to cut the middle out of the pizza and eat what was cooked properly.
Our garlic bread has still not arrived and neither has the gnocchi. We tell the waitress and she runs off to the kitchen. Another 5 minutes for the bread to arrive. And another 15 minutes came and went before the gnocchi was delivered.
The food:
Pizza - From what I could eat, the flavors worked well together and the crust was decent. I was unable to eat about half of it due to the crust being underdone to the point that the dough would slump back into a ball. Overall (if cooked properly) this could be some of the best pizza I've had here in NZ
Gnocchi - The dumplings were perfectly cooked, but they were drowned in a mediocre tomato based sauce with minimal flavor. the bowl ended up being mostly sauce and left my partner hungry.
FOR MANAGEMENT --
You cant handle that many people! Remove some tables and tell people that they have to wait instead of trapping them there after they order.
I would have rather given a name and come back an hour later to a perfect meal.
For 1 Pizza, Some Gnocchi, and a plate of garlic bread. We paid nearly $70 NZD ($50 USD) And 2+ hours of life. Nothing was taken off the ticket, no condolences.
Again, good food, I blame the choices of management for our bad experience.
C.
What a surprise. My girlfriend and I decided to have an Italian pizza but we weren't actually expecting something that good. Very good quality if you think how remote this town is. Amazing! Give it a try if you are around here and craving for Italian pizza.
L.
Had a yummy vegan pizza (with vegan cheese!) and riesling wine was good. A bit more on the pricier side but it's good pizza and efficient service.
M.
Pizza was fantastic but not great service. Place was relatively quiet when we arrived yet took a while to even be given menus, then a further wait before our order was taken and another wait for drinks to arrive. Our garlic bread had obviously been forgotten about as pizzas came first, we were then asked if we even waited the garlic bread anymore :/
С.
I haven't spent enough time at Te Anau to eat in every pizzeria of the city... but I can tell you the pizza of Paradiso was very good and I was very satisfied. The dough of the pizza 🍕👍😛 was bellisima and buenissima 😅🤣
Staff is also very friendly.
H.
It's Te Anau.. I didn't expect to have the some of the best, if not the best pizza on my New Zealand travels.
G.
My favourite restaurant in Te Anau, definitely the best pizza and pasta in town by a mile. 10/10 service every time, delicious desserts and a great value kids menu!
I.
Phone ordered a takeaway, the place was packed, people were lined up out to the street waiting for tables, waiting to pay or waiting for a takeaway. The staff were running full trays in hand manoeuvring through the waiting guests. By the time I was served my meal was ready and well worth the wait. The best pizza and pasta in town by a long chalk. Will definitely go back and recommend to everyone 😊
R.
Really good authentic Italian pizzas here!
B.
I've been to Italy and tasted many incredible pizzas but this is the best pizza ive had in my life. The toppings are amazing and theres no overload of sauce, you get to taste the amazing local produce and i just cant get over this pizza. My family and i once drove 3 hours to have this pizza.
D.
Ordered a Blue Cod Fettuccine, a Fiordlander Pizza and a Kid's Bolognese Pasta. Portion is just nice and taste is fantastic! Do drop by early for dinner as the place will get crowded with tourists by 6:30pm.
M.
Absolutely amazing Italian place. Fresh pasta, express and delightful service, innovative dishes and combinations of tastes. We had pasta with pear and cheeses and pasta with pesto and chicken. Tiramisu for dessert and Montepulciano wine for drinking. The experience was lovely and I must say it was the best food I had in Te Anau, or either the best food in the South Island. Must visit!

We ordered spiced Italian tomato soup (delicious) bruschetta (would be better without capers) en two pizzas veggie and frutti di mare; excellent. The tiramisu was Ok, espresso excellent and limoncello good. A very pleasant dinner with dedicated service!
O.
Really pizza fire wood. Extremely tasty! The service was really quick. We enjoyed our meal. I recommend it if you are looking for a REAL pizza.
S.
Very delicious wood fired thin crust pizza. Pasta and gelato is good too. Came around 6.30pm on a Saturday and it was almost full. Gets really busy at 7pm.
N.
Very good food (pizza I'm jack) and dessert chocolate cake. The service was really good and fast. The place is nice and very spacious and the waiters was very nice with us.
v.
Despite the chicken and venisson pizza options on the menu, the place serves honest Italian pizzas (hard to find in NZ), properly baked and with a good doug. It’s a very good option for a quick genuine Italian meal.
H.
Service was hit and miss - some staff seemed nice, while the girl that served us and the checkout guy were quite dry/unfriendly. Servings were quite small. Pasta was okay, but nothing to write home about.
For a much better food, atmosphere and service, check out "The Church" i n Manapouri - awesome service, generous portions, cool setting.
W.
Excellent range of Italian style meals.
K.
Delicious! Had the spaghetti bolognese, gamberetti gnocchi, pear salad, and pane all'aglio - all really yummy. Great place to stop for dinner on the way back from Milford Sound.
K.
This is some of the best Italian food I've ever had! The chicken pesto was fantastic, as was the garlic bread. Highly recommended!
L.
Literally the best pizza I’ve ever had. I ordered the Doppio aglio con fungi 11/10, extremely sad when it was over. Service was very friendly.
M.
Italian cuisine for the more discerning diner - we paid $110 for starters and mains for two, with three drinks each. Higher quality pizza and pasta than La Toscana down the road, with smarter interior, but you get what you pay for.
1.
Blue cod and meatball not bad. A bit expensive but guess this is the best you can find at this small town?! Hahaha
L.
Unpretentious and straight forward classic old italian restaurant. The food was no frills but delicious, although the pizza base was a bit soggy and made it a bit difficult to eat. Service was efficient and friendly.
B.
Wonderful pizza! Beats out USA pizza hands down. Bruschetta was fresh and the creme brûlée tasted homemade and equal to the great dairy we've had. Sad to be leaving tomorrow otherwise would come back
D.
Awesome wood fired pizza with great wine variety.
c.
Fantastic pizza and pasta. Friendly service. What more could you want
K.
Lots of taste jam packed into these generously sized pizzas, great service and great music!
P.
Te Anau is small and isolated so expecting top quality may be unreasonable. The food is okay, not great. There are a number of menu items unavailable but you won't know this until you order. Staff are not always aware of what the dishes are, etc etc. But it's warm and smells inviting and the food is alright.
A.
Good service but one of the strangest pizzas I've ever had. A hand full of mushrooms, artichokes, ham, olives - placed in piles on the pizza - NOT spread over the pizza.
S.
Incredibly busy but the staff delivered with perfection. Delicious authentic Italian food
M.
Pizza was delicious. Crust was made just right and not soggy and customer service was lovely. Will definitely stop buy again the next time we are around
A.
Best wood fired pizza in Te Anau, New Zealand
B.
The pizza was awesome, owners and managers were super friendly, awesome service. Would definitely recommend!!
F.
Best pizza in NZ (so far). It has a good crispy base, flavoursome sauce and suitably few toppings. Recommend it
D.
Really nice food and service. The first proper Italian pizza we found in NZ. The pasta was also excellent
D.
Really good pizza! Was not expecting such good quality and I live in Brooklyn. The staff was really nice and let us work a while on our laptops and use the only outlet.
B.
The food was good - BUT (and it's a big "but") we received our starter and then had to wait over an hour for the next course. Not a good situation when you have kids. Also, it was a very busy Friday night, people waiting to be seated and you had patrons having finished their dinners and yet they stayed at the table playing cards!!!!
A.
Fantastic service, quality of food, how they handle the crowds when it’s super busy at peak times - it was all outstanding. Great family establishment with staff who know how to handle the busy times but still provide great hospitality. We went back multiple times during our stay at Te Anau. Their chocolate torte dessert was particularly awesome
J.
Been here twice and enjoyed it both times. Good pizza (I preferred the Napoli to the 'gourmet' venison) and attentive service. Downsides were a slightly grubby tablecloth and the unglamorous tub of Heinz aioli that came with our fries.
G.
Bruschetta and pizza was amazing, would definetly recommend.
M.
Such a fantastic meal! Super delicious with loads of gluten free options. One of the best meals we have had in a while.
j.
A cheerful welcome, excellent service and great authentic italian food.
Great for dine in or take-out. We were a large party but everything came out quickly and cheerfully. Would recommend.
M.
The pizza bases were nice. The Frutti de mare pizza, was quite disappointing as it had about one piece of seafood on each slice.
D.
Great pizza and people..
Pizza came with a full lamb shank on it!!! Outstanding
L.
The food is really good, however the waiting time was way to high (around 1h after ordering). At least, it's worth.
k.
Thank you for an awesome night...the pastas were amazing with the tiramisu the best we have ever had. Staff and service were great especially as was over the busiest holiday period. Thoroughly recommend and we will return😊
A.
The food was amazing. The staff super friendly and the place was quaint and clean. The massive pizza oven the the centre is really cool
A.
It was amazing kids devoured their food. Mum and Dad loved the pasta dishes and we all had dessert! Gelato for littlies and white chocolate panacotta for Mum and Dad. Please go there. Staff where amazing!
P.
We had the pasta which was fresh and al dente and delicious. The evening that we were there was a busy Saturday but was allocated a table in no time. Would recommend a revisit for stopover after the Sound on route to Queenstown.
G.
Easily the most authentic italian in Te Anau. There are a few italian restaurants in this tiny town, La Toscana is good but not as good as here. This place takes number 1 in my books.
P.
Super nice staff, very delicious Pizza, and very cute and focused on detail takeaways for the remaining food(extra piece of garlic bread etc) defenetly would recommend spending a nice evening there
C.
The food was ok. Service was good.
R.
Nice pizza and wonderful Peroni tap beer. Chef was really expert!
J.
Best pizza I have had in a long time. Amazing salad too. Service was extremely friendly and fast. Highly recommend.
M.
Wood fired pizza oven, check. Friendly service, check. Tasty food, check. Making you wait in the takeaway pizza line for over fifteen minutes to pay your bill, check...
S.
Really good food, pizza could've been a little bit more cooked but the place was extremely busy, staff was excellent and very friendly
R.
Service was a bit slow and the food took a while to come out, but that is because they were so busy. The prices were a bit high, but the food is so good that we went back two nights in a row. We would definitely go again, but would try to go earlier.
Q.
Lovely authentic tasting Italian pizza. Very good! Friendly staff, would definitely recommend.
I.
Beautiful pizza and delish Gelato. Staff are friendly and efficient
C.
Amazing food, friendly staff! A great place for dinner after 4 days out on the Kepler
S.
Best service I seen in my 3 months in Nz , credit to the manager or owner your staff are excellent and so well trained , I got a pizza it was faultless and came out so fast , I didn't want dessert but ended up ordering it because it was offered to me ,really nice to see good service, well trained staff and good food
L.
Food was delicious and so was the gelato. Our waitress was very friendly and also did well at checking in on us despite it being a busy evening.
D.
Gluten free options always a bonus. Great dessert menu. Reasonable prices. Great service, friendly staff. All in all a very pleasant dining experience.
A.
Traditionally cooked pizza and was really good! a little pricey though, so beware.
B.
Pizza and a beer done very well. But it's the service which was super impressive. Thanks very much for such an enjoyable experience
J.
Amazing Margherita pizza!! We stopped here when we were travelling through South Island.
We will always remember how good this pizza was. Best we've ever had.
E.
Love it! Vegan and gluten free options on just about every menu item. The food is absolutely delicious! Great Italian vibe! Will be back for more.
J.
Good food. Service was very friendly, if a little confused, perhaps because it was quite busy.
Z.
Pizza had a nice wholemeal like base. Reasonably quick service.
Pizza 7/10
Spaghetti bolognese 5/10
Pear salad 5/10
P.
Good pizza, very kind staff and even if it's very busy they still take care of you. Thank you!
L.
Olivia has got it all under control, best pizza and garlic bread I've had for a while.
A.
Best pizza and Gelato!! Thanks for first class service and a really enjoyable evening!!!
B.
Amazing old school service! Great traditional 🍕 pizza . Recommended +++ 😊
D.
We prefer thick crust but most restaurants don't offer it because it takes longer. Food and service quite satisfactory.
M.
Top quality, decent value, served by real Italians and very authentic. As good as anything you can buy in Italia.
E.
Just delicious pizza, comparable prices, friendly service and yummy dessert. The venison and fungi pizzas are mouth-wateringly good.
P.
Super nice staff, very delicious Pizza, and very cute and focused on detail takeaways for the remaining food(extra piece of garlic bread etc) defenetly would recommend spending a nice evening there
M.
Been here a couple of times now and have enjoyed every dish we've ordered. Reasonably priced for Te Anau.
E.
Love it! Vegan and gluten free options on just about every menu item. The food is absolutely delicious! Great Italian vibe! Will be back for more.
S.
Very delicious wood fired thin crust pizza. Pasta and gelato is good too. Came around 6.30pm on a Saturday and it was almost full. Gets really busy at 7pm.
R.
We absolutely loved it! Pizza and pasta was fresh and delicious, tiramisu was amazing and service A1.
A.
Absolutely loved this place. It was a sheer delight after our previous disaster evening at the Ranch Grill and bar. Service was excellent and attentive and friendly. The bruschetta was tasty and the gnocchi (we had the beef and the prawn) …
N.
Best Italian food I've ever experienced. This is hands down an amazing experience in itself.
L.
Unpretentious and straight forward classic old italian restaurant. The food was no frills but delicious, although the pizza base was a bit soggy and made it a bit difficult to eat. Service was efficient and friendly.
M.
The pizza bases were nice. The Frutti de mare pizza, was quite disappointing as it had about one piece of seafood on each slice.

A very Italian restaurant with great smelling and tasting food. Excellent presentation and big portions. Reasonable pricing and a great environment.
S.
Real Italian place, no fake American style dishes. Delicious pizza and great service
H.
Acceptable garlic bread and bruschetta, but disappointing pizza. However, it's probably much better than anything else you can find in the region anyway.
E.
Ordered the margherita pizza, al funghi pizza, and the meatballs. Absolutely delicious! Love the meatballs especially!
E.
Place was packed and understaffed, which made for a long wait to get our order and food. Food was decent enough though. Somewhat pricey.
G.
Pitty we were stuck outside on the street, great pizza and the deserts looked attractive.
S.
Good, basic Italian, a bit overpriced but expected during peak tourist season. Garlic bread was really good.
J.
Excellent pastas, good pizzas, and friendly service. Very busy so sit back and relax.
B.
Nice pizza. Friendly service 👍
M.
It was really busy the night we went but the service was quick. Pizza was delicious and the pasta was good.
L.
The pizza and pasta were good but nothing special. The service was a bit slow, maybe because it was at the peak dinner hour.
