You will need to book a week or more in advance, but its worth the planning. The meals are great quality and portion sizes are very generous. A wide range of cuisine, from mild to traditionally spicy. The staff are incredibly professional and efficient, but also have a playful banter making it a very friendly visit. Despite being a very popular venue, there is rarely any wait on being served, or delivery to table. They also do takeaway on top of the seated table service.

Good service and fast. However I do find some of the dishes a little bland for my taste. I'm expecting a burst of that wonderful Asian flavour but it's just not there. Regardless the food is well cooked.

A personal favourite, located in Grahamstown. Amazing array of food that is always of high quality for the cheap price. Dine in and takeaway options available for lunch and dinner. Takeaway menu is a refined version of the dine in menu. Lunch specials of $10 are good value for money. Customer service is always exceptional and food prepared and cooked quickly.

Super delicious food! We ordered the Chilli Tom Yum and the Spicy Curry Mix, both of which were very tasty. They also made it very hot on request, which was perfect. The roti bread was also crispy and buttery, so yum! The staff are very friendly and the ambiance was great. The food portion was generous. What we really appreciated was that the rice was plentiful and fairly cheap (1$/portion). Usually at other Thai restaurants you get ripped off (4-5$). All in all, an absolute recommendation, if you're in Thames, you must try this place.

It's OK... Nothing special but good enough. The best thing is the dessert! The sticky rice with ice cream was awesome

This is honestly one of the very best Thai places in all of NZ. The food was absolutely delicious. It was packed which is always a good sign. The service was decent. It did get a bit slow at times, because of the many tables needing to be serviced. I had the drunken noodle which was so tasty. My partner had the green curry. We’re glad we stopped by here on our way to Whitianga.

Honesty a great place! We stayed in Thames for one day, had lunch there and came back for dinner. Amazing staff, delicious food and efficient service. Totally recommend.

The best Thai I've ever had. We took a 20 minute diversion just to be able to have dinner here again. Love it. They even took extra care with our daughter to make sure her food wasn't too spicy as she wanted to try something new. They offered to re-make hers if necessary. Thank you for going the extra mile and always with a smile.

Came in here super hungry and the service was speedy and friendly. They also had a decent wine list for a Thai restaurant. The curries were yummy and tasted just like Thailand save for the local veges. And if you ask for them hot they come out hot 🔥

Beautiful lunch will my friends and great service

$10 meals at lunch can be a bit hit and miss but this place delivered fantastic quality and quantity. I had a tofu and chilli stirfry ...the best!!! Place is busy but staff are efficient and trust me..you will get your meals quicker than you think

Have tried several restaurants in this area and in my opinion this one is by far the best. Excellent food, very friendly staff, quick service, great value. Athough the restaurant was very busy on a cold and windy Thursday night, we did not feel rushed, and despite being almost full, it was not noisy. Beautiful decor, warm and cosy and I liked their choice of background music too. Can't wait to go back to work my way through the rest of the menu!

Really enjoyed the lunch menu here in Thames. Found the food fresh and fast. My old favorite prawn pad thai was hot and delicious and not too thick. Prawns were a little light with only 3 in the bowl but gobbled down with a nice glass of sav.

Incredible staff, delicious food and amazing prices. I can’t get enough of Nakontong Thai, especially the peanut satay and tofu. The owners are truly lovely and they always have a beautifully tidy space, ice-cold water and pleasant music. Overall a great atmosphere and authentic Thai food that won’t break the bank!

The friendly staff and atmosphere with authentic decor promises much but we found the food had less flavour and veges than we usually experience at other restaurants. No bowls of rice are provided to accompany your meal but for an extra dollar staff will spoon some on to your plate which is good to know because rhere is no information to tell you rhis and it isnr reflected in the prices

Called in for dinner this evening. Welcoming and inviting, busy with a good buzz. Food was good we both had sizzling platters. Good selection of vegetables and meats. $30 per head including a starter. Will return.

Delicious, hot food. We stopped in moments before they were closing to grab takeaway. We felt guilty keeping them open so we sat outside and ate in the car. They came rushing out with glasses of water and wanting to set up a table outside. Great hospitality, and the portions are MASSIVE!

The service was absolutely impeccable. I run an airline in my head called Theolord Airlines,and tonight's flight which is TL-120, with our Boeing 737-800. Pilots flying it, are Adam and Isaac. It cleared the runway and the terminal being 10 minutes ahead of schedule, for its 3 hour flight to Nadi Fiji. All done in my head, meaning I just can't thank you all enough. If Gordon Ramsay could hear this conversation, or see this review he would be absolutely amazed it would make his year. So I thank you all very much for the wonderful Thai hospitality it couldn't get any better

We had a lovely double birthday meal for my dad and me at nakontong thai. Great service and were prepared for our big family group including two toddlers. Will come back again was a lovely meal and experience.
