Best to reserve a table here. The best lake taupo restaurant that gives you stunning uninterrupted views of the lake. Quiet and stunning. Food was great, good value for money, coffee was average however. Plenty of selection on the menu to cater for all dietary requirements. The staff were amazing nothing was to much trouble.

The place looks almost too fancy for a young couple that just wants a hot meal after doing the Tongariro, but we never felt out of place. The service was excellent. I am a regular patron when ever I stay at my bach in Kuratau. Thought it about time I wrote up the consistent quality of the food and service at Lakeland. My favorite is the seafood chowder but also the anti pasta is great and good value if there is a group of you.

Had the king prawns as a starter and seafood fettuccine as a main. All delicious. Would be nice if the waiter knew more about the dishes, fettuccine is really rich so I should've ordered the entre size, king prawns in entre is $30 and big enough to be ordered as a main. Great place, will come again when its warmer with longer daylight.

The view was beautiful, even though it was raining. The waiter was amazing, quick, and attentive. The portion sizes were huge and the food was amazing. They weren't kidding when they said the seafood chowder is one of the best in New Zealand. Will definitely bring more people next time, hopefully when the sun is shining so we can enjoy the out door dinning area.

The place is beautiful, overlooking the lake and with the mountains as the background. The staff are wonderful. We had dinner so weren't able to see the view but we made sure to have breakfast/coffee the next day. We met a happy and friendly black dog (didn't get his name).

The atmosphere right in front of Lake Taupō was beautiful weather with the tranquility of the glittering shiny waters and awesomeness scenery views with Mt Tauhara. Excellent high quality food, great menu and bar, excellent staff, chefs in particular Tessa on the bar and Bailey who was our waiter but also cooks some days, great friendly people. The quality of the meals were first class, the quantity just about an over abundance but great. The most beautiful views in and out side from the bottom south western corner of Lake Taupo, especially in the evening as the sun sets, if staying in the Rainbow Motel or in Turangi, it's well worth the quite short drive for a meal here, I don't think there is restaurant at the southern end of the lake that could match the food, drinks and location.

It was my birthday, so we booked this restaurant well in advance as we were travelling around New Zealand. The food is excellent (although the portions are if anything too large). The staff are knowledgeable and very friendly. The view onto Lake Taupo is magical. All in all a magnificent treat. Make sure you visit!

The food was excellent as always and if you are gluten free there are great options for you. The setting is excellent even on a dreary day. The only thing that spoiled our birthday lunch was that the wait staff were extremely busy and the place seemed understaffed and after 15 mins of waiting for a dessert menu we paid and left. We felt forgotten and ignored and it was not like we were tucked away in a corner. Will definitely go back in the hope this was a one of.

Lakeland House Restaurant was HIGHLY recommended to me by my son who frequents the restaurant whenever he is home. I am so pleased he did as I booked for my partner's Birthday & Wow qe were both blown away from stepping through the garden arch to leaving. Meal surpassed any meal we had ever had. The Seafood Teaser was amazing had everything you could want & beautifully presented I had the Salmon blinis I have never tasted Dalmon like it so fresh melted in my mouth. Then the mains I didnt think it could get any better but OMG The Venison was cooked to perfection it was like butter to cut & devine to devour. I had Snapper with 3 of the best & rather large prawns What a dish!! Meals were served with the most delicious vegetables so scrummy Dessert was so complementary to the main meals & again Wow & delicious. Atmosphere was so nice had such a great table overlooking the beautiful tranquil lake & Staff were so nice & Efficient without being in your face. This restaurant must have been one the best hidden secret's to discover. I would highly recommend to anyone who want a world class meal to go here. Fabulous. This place is breathtaking. I love dinning here! The food is amazing - huge portions at respectable and reasonable prices... full credit to the chef and his staff for a delectable menu... and the service is excellent... full credit to management for hiring excellent staff. Quite often I am in the presence of dinning with family, friends, Chinese delegates and business associates at this venue - they love this venue... besides, where else could you go and dine with a huge body of water called lake Taupo several metres from your table with a breath taking view? There are other beautiful features to this venue, but I prefer not to say - you must go and see for yourself and experience its ambience... trust me, you won't be disappointed.

We have been here many times, but on the 18th February they had a new waiter who was very well trained and very efficient. This young man is a real asset to this business , he was really onto it in every detail, even asking when we would like things delivered and would we like the wine with the main or entrees. In the past we have had entrees delivered and before you have had time to eat them, the main has turned up. This time the service was outstanding, the food was great as always, best Venison I have ever had. The waiter was running the counter and all the tables, so he was very busy but never flustered and seemed to keep everyone happy, at all the tables and they were quite busy. He had the place running like clock work. I hope his boss appreciates him and pays him well, he is very worth it. Thank you for a fabulous lunch, we will be back.

They catered for Vege, GF, and had a clear choice or three for Keto. We both left more than satisfied. Prawns slightly over, but totally edible!

I'm finding myself quite at odds with the previous reviewer. One could perceive the Lakeland House as pretentious if you were wanting to be rather negative or take a much more positive slant and see it as beautifully appointed and presented. This place is a real hidden gem. The lunch menu was all encompassing, delicious, and the portions generous. A must go dining experience with a million dollar view. I'll be coming back that's for sure.
