Cool to have an Indian Restaurant with a point of difference in Upper Hutt. Only a few years ago we had one Indian restaurant. Now the Upper Hutt region has 10 and huge competition with many food options and top service! Add to this fair prices. Ammu is focused on South Indian with Sea Food delicacies and good alcohol options.

Great value delicious food. Had lamb saag for lunch - $11 including roti, basmati rice and chilled water (chicken is only $10). Pleasant surroundings and good service. Even my mum had no complaints which has to be pretty much a first!!

AMAZING! I've tried so many other Indian restaurants since being in the Hutt Valley and nothing compares to Ammu, I have no shame in saying I sometimes have their curry more than once or twice a week but it's just too good. 10/10 service, food, everything.

Ammu is an amazing restaurant serving a huge number of south Indian delicacies in absolutely authentic Tamil, Malayalam and other south Indian tastes.. It also serves a plethora of dishes from other parts of India and a few dishes which are Asian in origin. It has a vast selection of dishes to choose from and literally we were hopelessly trying to conclude which one dish is better than another.. My friends and I have had several different dishes, including starters, mains, sides and desserts, on many separate occassions and have never encountered even one instance where we could say that any one dish was only just average or not too great, such is the superb amazing quality, authenticity and flavour of all the things we have had here.. Absolutely fantabulous.. The taste of everything is so originally authentic that one gets a feeling that the food is exactly what one would expect in a homely household kitchen or in a highly rated and accomplished restaurant anywhere in the heartland of India; such is the taste and ethnic feel of each dish.. It is very prominently located in Upper Hutt. There are lots of parking spaces available. The restaurant premises are spic and span. The staff are efficient, friendly and very helpful. Washrooms are very neat and clean and are well appointed. The overall ambience of the place is simple, energetic and vibrant. Large dining areas ensures adequate seating and quick seats.. Ammu is a place worth visiting several times.. We look forward eagerly for our next opportunity to go there to celebrate some special occassion.

Beautiful and delicious. Might help to know that my vegetable Korma Kerala style didn't have broccoli, Cauliflower and potato like it said though it was made from those peas, corn, carrots & beans frozen packs with gravy.

Got ta today kerala paratta, chi chettinadu and egg masala, it was superb we really enjoyed it. Food was amazing. only the down side was toilet. Its looks not clean.

The food was really good. We had onion bhaji, tandoori mushrooms, Dosa, Tika Masala and various other curries. All of them delicious. Unfortunately the breads that we ordered with the mains didn't come out until we were pretty much finished which was a shame, otherwise it would have been 5 stars.

Delicious food. Upper Hutt has SO many Indian restaurants but this is by far the best. The cheese and garlic naan is outstanding. The garlic is fresh and strong, just the way I like it. The curry is flavourful and when I ask for it to be HOT, they don't mess around. They give me what I ask for. Very very large selection of both vegetarian and meat curries. I have had paneer curries and fish curries and they're both beautiful. I have never had a bad curry here. I have had curry eat in, delivered and takeaway. Every method is just as wonderful. The delivery fee is less than pizza, as well, so that's a bonus! Since I discovered Ammu, I don't go anywhere else for curry.

We ordered the platter for starters, it had 2 huge samosa which were filled to the brim, tandoori chicken which was moist and tasty, lamb sheekt yummy, fried onions with tamarind sauce and mint sauce. Was most definitely the best Indian meal I have ever had! The staff made sure that we understood the menu and made helpful suggestions after listening to our likes and dislikes this meant we were able to try other never before foods which we loved. Would only ever go back to Ammu's restaurant when I'm craving for a great curry no where else measures up to there awesome standards.

Located conveniently at the southern end of the Upper Hutt shopping centre. Only got takeaways so can't really comment on the inside of the venue, however, it seemed very tidy and pleasant. The staff were very friendly andvthe food was available promptly. The online facilities were far superior to their competitors ones and had a much better range. The prices were moderate (about what you would expect for quality indian food). The food was very tasty!!! Definitely recommend if you live in Upper Hutt and you fancy an Indian meal.

My brother bought idli Samber from ammu and he asked for hot they maid it extremely extremely hot. We occasionally order from you many time it never happened. I know the levels of hot as I work in Indian restaurant. I have kept some samber as proof.
