Really good Iskander and kebabs and the pizzas are awesome. Best in Upper Hutt. Nice decor and quite like the Turkish music in the background. Staff are also friendly. A little on the pricey side.

Along with usual doner kebabs and Iskenders, Zara's sell pizzas, desserts, coffee and tea, vegetarian options, and open faced burgers served with oven baked Turkish bread - these I can't wait to try. Update: the open-faced burger was served on a standard burger bun, not Turkish bread as advertised. The patties are thin and don't look like anything special. Very disappointing 👎 still for $18, the meal (see photo) is still a good deal. Unlike other Turkish kebab cafés in Wellington, Zara's large doner kebab is actually a large and worth the $13 price. Everything else on the menu is $20 or less. Very busy night, but customer service was never rude. So far the only Turkish Kebab Takeaway in Wellington I want to return to.

Tastiest iskander I've had! The staff were also knowledgeable about allergens and knew how to adjust the meal to be safe even when it wasn't obvious to me.

Of all the kebabs I have eaten from around the Wellington region, this was by far the best vegetarian kebab so far, the place is nice and clean, staff are friendly and it was a quick service too.

Our meals were served fast, salad vegies super fresh and crunchy and lovely sauces. Very big servings too. We will definitely be going back for more. We had the chicken on salad with sauces and bread. Very friendly staff and lovely and clean.

I posted a review (bellow) but since posting, Zara's contacted me and offered an apology and a replacement meal. I saw this as going above and beyond as many would simply ignore the review and move on. Well done Zara's, thank you. (Original review post: New review, since the kebab I just got was cold, and had bones in the meat. Just about broke a tooth. Pretty disappointed after singing Zara kebabs praise. Perhaps I'll try Nora Kebab next time.)

Delicious as always and great service as well. We shared the mixed iskender with felafel which I think are the best anywhere! Yummy sauces and decent portions. Will be back again for sure.

Our family loves Zaras, we normally takeaway but love the iskenders, and they have the best fries i've ever had. Meals are a little more expensive (compared with say fish & chips or chain store pizza) if we are feeding all the kids too so unfortunately don't eat here as often as I would like but is definitely our go to when we want healthy takeaways and have a bit more money to spend

Can’t fault anything about this authentic cafe. Our one to go place in Wellington. And usually our outing on Saturday’s with my wife. We both love their kebabs and mixed grill platter! Yummmm. Thank you guys keep up the good work!

I still can’t believe we haven’t dined here before ... The service was efficient and super friendly; food was serviced quickly and hot! The plated food portion sizes were more than adequate in order to a satisfy a ravenous hunger and compliments must certainly be paid for taste and bursting flavour. Make no mistake, this bustling café was busy this evening and the crew here delivered on point. It was also a highlight meeting a member of management, who popped over to say hi!! Great management, delicious food and excellent portions!! We felt this place served a palatable value for money. Awesome job.

Best pizza in Upper Hutt. We recently tried the pizza instead of kebabs, and wow, such great value and flavour. Highly recommend. Their kebabs are good too. Prompt, polite, and open longer than other places.

Always love coming here, the staff are super friendly and the food is incredible no matter what you order. They make their own Turkish delight too and it's amazing. Every item on the menu is a winner, my favorites are the margherita pizza and the Adana kebab. They season the chips with paprika too, and they're super crunchy!

We treat ourselves to an evening out in Upper Hutt because parking is so much better than in Lower Hutt. We love the healthy food choices here and the friendly cheerful service. Zara's is a very popular restaurant. We enjoy our meal then walk to Monterey Cinema to see a movie.

Absolutely enjoyed two weeks of Diced Lamb Iskender. Beautifully cooked and presented, salads fresh, and dips / sauces deliciously full of taste. Back to Australia and tried to find the same dish in Canberra. Sadly disappointed. More dressing than wilted salad, no sauces / dips, diced lamb tasted nice but a tad dry, far too much rice. Am returning to NZ later this year, and fully intend to revisit the clean and tidy restaurant, the generous and friendly staff, the fresh salads, and beautifully spiced and cooked Diced Lamb.
