Such delicious fish n chips, top quality and made with fresh ingredients. Friendly and welcoming staff, pleasant atmosphere, however, the price was off-putting. Around $25 dollars for one snapper, chips, side salad & sauce, which is quite expensive hence the 3 stars. The margarita jug is well worth the price ($36), and would happily come again for solely that.

We really loved the food here on our visit to Waiheke! The staff were very great with seating us quickly. The food was delicious too! I had the fish tacos-super fresh. They missed out one food item we ordered but overall the service was great. Will be back!

A few things out of stock, but other than that, superb fish & chicken burgers, generous portion though fairly high price, friendly staff & beautiful views.

Great food. Ordered the snapper & chips, pork belly bites, Bratwurst Roll & cheese burger. Reasonably priced compared to some other beach/waterfront restaurants. The B roll was massive. My 5 yr old who loves hot dog rolls got scared lookin at how massive it was. But later relished it once we cut it down to a smaller sizes. A must visit on Waiheke Island. If only uber eats would deliver to West Auckland from here!!! 😊

Absolutely 5-star service and the food was amazing! We wanted to pre-order for NY Eve 10pax and it was not an issue. Dropped our order in earlier in the day and walked up to collect at designated time. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their food...

One of my favourite places on Waiheke! So many delicious fresh seafood options and the grilled steak to die for! Fish/Hotdog & chippies for the kids. Great drink selection! Amazing Seaviews!

The best fish and chips in Waiheke! we got the fish crumbed and it is so yummy, we love it, even my son can’t stop eating 😄..affordable and fresh.. with a wonderful scenery overlooking the ocean is a bonus to make your lunch or dinner exceptional.. Highly recommended!

I wanted to love this place. The view outside was terrific, which was the draw for me, as it overlooks the ocean. I had the fish and chips, which was good, but served takeaway style with so much paper it was a bit awkward to eat. I felt the staff were pleasant, while at the same time I felt like perhaps I was inconveniencing them in some way. There was a sign on the water container saying something about water being an extra special commodity in Waiheke, so they can’t fill your water bottles up—which seemed strange, since you can use all the water you want at the public fountain just up the road (which also has a water bottle filling spout). Coupled with the sign that you can eat your food there if you buy a drink... the messaging was kind of a buzzkill, honestly. The food wasn’t bad. The view was awesome. But the hospitality wasn’t there for me.

Good fish & chips and can't beat that view of Oneroa Bay of you can snag a table by the edge. Beware they charge 3% more for credit card so bring cash.

Great food, with sea view! I had the snapper and chips and it was on point, great spot for a drink and a feed.

The fish, fresh snapper pan fried, was delicious. You order at the counter and they bring to the table. The find your own seat patio has a view of the beach.

Tasty fish and chips served wrapped in paper at reasonable price. They serve burgers as well. Wine is a tad on the high side at $10 for a small glass.

Perfect spot for the hungry traveler new to Waiheke Island with a wee balcony view of the harbour. The hoki was delicious and flaky and the herby fish cake makes a great side option. The squeezy bottle of vinegar was a welcome addition

Best fish and chips in town! I went in with a group of 7 and no booking. As we arrived the owners both accommodated our group by re-arranging a few chairs and tables. My friends were from overseas and I was pleased we could give them the taste of real fish and chips after having a couple of dozens of fresh oysters washed down with some local wines. Service with a smile Easy on the pocket and a place I would return.

Stopped by The Local on a whim - I wanted to have lunch with a view of the ocean and this place had empty tables on the patio. (We arrived 5 minutes after they opened) The owner was friendly and chatted while we took our time ordering and gave good food recommendations and good island advice. It is decently priced - we ordered Snapper and chips, a burger with three extra toppings, a potato fritter, a cola, beer and ketchup for $46. The food was brought out to our table wrapped in paper like traditional takeaway. It was delicious!!! Best burger I’ve had in awhile!! The snapper and chips were also delicious! I read a few reviews that said the chips were on the small side - it didn’t seem that way to us because we ordered like they were a side at a restaurant rather than a scoop everyone eats from. I’d eat here again no problem. Nice owners, great food, amazing views.

Pretty ordinary food in very impracticable wrappings that are difficult to manage in the wind. Everything is served in takeaway containers. That's not a problem, but be prepared that it's not a leisurely lunch where you can order a few items and sit and relax and enjoy the view. Its very small. A few tables inside and 7 or 8 outside. The view is nice but only for the people sitting facing the sea. Not much room between tables. It's not a bad place, but we had higher expectations as it was recommended by the staff at the visitors kiosk at the wharf.

Just amazing fish cooked perfectly and not expensive. Staff were great and wine and beer had a great selection and not expensive either.

Beautiful fish & chips! What a find...its a cafe with a great view and take away is available. I had crumbed snapper & chips...they were hot & delicious. Served wrapped in paper, traditional style. The burgers were excellent too & my friends raved about the snapper burger! Loved this place!

On the oily side - amazing snapper pushed this review to a 4. Pretty pricy. Would be nice to have lemon wedges and complimentary T sauce considering the price. Sausage was great but would have preferred it not battered. Friendly and quick service.

Really yummy fish and chips from this place. We had a generous helping of chips, two portions of snapper and a potato fritter. I would definitely recommend this establishment if you're feeling peckish and after some great tasting fresh fish. Very enjoyable

I love this place. Classic kiwi fish n chips wrapped in paper and brought to your table. Service was friendly and fast, Food was Awesome, Beers were chilled to perfection. I highly recommend this place and will return again and again..... Oh and the view.... magnificent

Very fresh fish and chips and its not too oily like others! Staff are nice and food cooking is really quick. They also serve alcohol which was refreshing when we ate here after a long costal walk. Pro tip: the kumara chips are really great!

We sail over from Auckland City for their amazing burgers and chips. They take great pride and care! All is served in paper not plastic - we go every chance we can. Love this little place with great views.

Whether you're going for the fish n chips or the fish sandwich, it's all great. Huge portions and I can see why The Local is actually favoured by the locals I know. They've got one or two basic NZ beers on tap which you have to order from a different counter. Seating is a bit limited inside and out for the common crowd size. One toilet in the back, kind of through the kitchen which isn't really pleasing but at least they have one.

If it was possible to give this place 6 out of 5, I would! Awesome and friendly staff, and the best burger we've ever had. Along with it a pretty good ocean view as well. Would highly recommend it.

The fish and chips were great, and the view over Oneroa is superb. Disappointed that they had run out of snapper by 6.30pm, and one serving of the hoki that we got was only 50% fish with the rest just thick batter :-(

An unusual take on classic kiwi fish n chips. You can get your food delivered to a table, still wrapped in paper, with a glass of cold beer! Quality of food is top class (for fish n chips) Worth trying the calamari. A great spot to enjoy on their balcony overlooking Oneroa Bay. Recommended,although expect to pay a bit more than typical fish n chips.

My wife and I came here to Waiheke for our honeymoon and came by The Local during a leisurely stroll through Oneroa. How absolutely amazed we were by the food, is an understatement. The fish was fresh, crispy and melt in your mouth AMAZING. The calamari was also absolutely lovely - soft, flavoursome and cooked perfectly. Why 5 stars? We'll be back tomorrow!

I'll start off with this... I had the best burger I have ever had here. It also has the best view I have ever had eating a burger! The Local is situated on Waiheke Islands main town of Oneroa. If you are on a tour of the island this is the place to stop and grab some lunch or dinner before heading back. It does not have a main entrance on the high street, you have to go down some steps next to Four Square.We went down as a gamble, and boy did it pay off. It also has stunning views. The pricing I thought was very reasonable. I have attached a picture of the full menu). A cheeseburger with amazing meat and slot of cheese in a Waiheke island baked roll was $12, and a bag of chips (the fed two people) was $4. Yes it's a premium burger, but it's 100% worth it. We surveyed the menus up and down the main string of resteraunts and this was Tge Local was the cheapest by a fair bit. For example, the Italian across the roads margarita pizza was $25ish. In terms of drinks they served both fizzy drinks and alcohol. We went for a New Zealand Phoenix Cola and a lemonade. Delicious! The staff were very friendly and also shared their knowledge on the other islands that the resteraunt looked out at. Overall, amazing burger, great value, breathtaking views, and lovely staff. I would recommend going back up the stairs and take a left the cross the road for an ice cream from Island Gelatos Company

I just had the freshest "fish 'n chups" for years. And the wild boar with free range pork was special. There's a good reason why they get great reviews.

The serving plates and packaging seems strange and not very cost effective, I would think. The food is slightly over priced but standard for Waiheke.

It's quite expensive but food is ok, $7 for Hoki and $16 for a fish burger. Place is clean and staff were great.

Very smoky. They allow smoking next to the door facing the ocean so it blows straight into the bar. Staff were friendly and helpful.
