Falls retreat is absolutely incredible! Amazing service from all of the staff and owners, they really look after you. We had our wedding here and the day was perfect thanks to these guys, it’s an amazing venue for a wedding reception with a beautiful atmosphere. The food was delicious, all the guests raved about it and we enjoyed everything we had! Loved that all dietary requirements were looked after with great options! We want to thank the team again for an amazing experience, we can’t wait to come back :)

Beautiful food, friendly service, and lovely atmosphere. Stunning food! This is a place for an experience, not necessarily just a "dinner." The flavours are incredible, and I got the Pork Belly, which was cooked to perfection, with a beautiful ginger and carrot pureé. Worth your money!

We were recommended Falls Retreat by our Air BnB. Wow did this place exceed our expectations! We had the most amazing Grazing platter with homegrown and housemade food, along with one of the best wood fire pizzas we have ever had. Exceptional service from our waiter with a great attitude, gorgeous surrounding, nestled between the trees, an overall great dining experience. Would highly recommend! Great job!

We dined at The Falls Retreat, Pizza Social last Friday night and it was fantastic. Beautiful setting, great atmosphere, lovely staff and absolutely everything we had was delicious. Definitely recommend.

My husband and I had the most amazing elopement here! Chloe handled our booking and it was a breeze. We booked out all 3 cabins and held the ceremony under the pergola overlooking the falls. And what was the best part about it? We had our doggy with us the whole time! We used the recommended vendors - Cassandra sharp photography, Angela for a massage the day before, lip stick and co for hair and Seugnet Toweel who Chloe organised for us. Everyone was awesome to deal with and it just added to the specialness of the day. After the ceremony and photos, the small group headed to the restaurant for a delicious spread of vegan farm to table food. They even delivered some vegan desserts to the cabin soon after. The next day we had a yummy vegan breakfast delivered to the room. The welcome hamper was also SO good and really decent portions. All accomodation was well appointed and cozy. The waterfall cabin was so cute. To sum up the experience, it was just a relaxed and chilled environment in a beautiful setting. Thank you falls retreat for the most amazing couple of days. We will be back for our 1 year anniversary 💕

Visiting the Karangahake gorge for a walk and dropped by the Falls Retreat for a coffee. The barrister was on point with the coffees. Loved the vibe, playground and the garden to plate setup.

As always the food was out standing, service exceptional and our sneaky get away was all that we expected. Great location to explore the Karagahake Gorge and ride the Hauraki Rail Trail

We went last Sunday for the set menu. Sun shined, welcomed by staff, good wine and beer and the meal was exceptional. Would recommend a trip to this restaurant, only just over an hour from Hamilton and the Falls and the Gorge to enjoy.

Beautiful setting, amazing service. The food was the best I have had in the north island! Even gave us a vegan option and didn't complain. Chefs put so much love into the meals, I want to come back again and again. To top the evening of we looked around the vege garden, it was magical! Truly a place that looks after its customers

We stayed in the Rose cottage which was well equipped and cozy. Wonderful suroundings, perfect for a walk or bike ride. We ordered the hamper which was just amazing. The staff wére friendly and helpful. We would definitely return.

My partner and I stayed in the waterfall cabin for a couple nights, and had dinner at the restaurant the second night. Everything was superb. The cabin was lovely and had everything we needed. The owners and restaurant staff were consistently helpful and friendly throughout our stay. We really love the ethos of this place! The fresh air and natural surroundings made for a rejuvenating stay! Will definitely be back again!

Visited twice over Christmas after having a great experience a few years ago. Both times were amazing. The food is consistently good, with super fresh ingredients and flavours. The wait staff were also very attentive. We hope to be back soon!

The setting was lovely and our waitress was very nice. However the margarita pizza was far too heavy on the garlic, they got our order wrong and some of the other staff were not particularly friendly. We would go back and try it again though.

A delightful spot with delicious and stunningly presented food. Super tasty fish of the day and a light creme caramel for dessert. Highly recommend! Plenty of outdoor space for children and dogs, lovely outdoor seating area, we will definitely be back.

Wonderful. Beautiful location, delicious food and great service. We rode there from Waihi along the Hauraki trail, got caught in a down pour and arrived soaking wet. The staff were brilliant and got us blankets and sorted us out without any fuss. Highly recommend!

Stayed overnight in the waterfall cabin and also did bike hire through The Falls Retreat. This is the most amazing spot with such friendly staff, I cant fault our stay. The cabin itself has everything you need, lovely breakfast and a private outdoor bath. We visited the restaurant for dinner and had wonderful service and food. The bike hire was great too, we got a packed picnic (vegetarian on request). Would definitely stay again.

Fantastic food, staff were super kind and looked happy to be there. Very helpful with every request although the food was expensive it was to be expected. Nice outside garden. Also very close to the bike trails just down the road.

Just visited and had their 'Paddock to Plate Experience' - a fairly new four-course offering. A bit more expensive than an a la carte meal, but wow, a truly wonderful meal from start to finish. We enjoyed every morsel of each course, beautifully presented, with exceptionally attentive and prompt service. We understand that the menu for these 'experiences' will change each week (Saturdays only) and we can't wait to try another.

My friend and I chose the Falls retreat to meetup - both of us driving distances to find a central meeting point. And we are so lucky we chose this spot nestled by the gorge. Delicious fresh food from their gardens... and a fire going the whole time. And even better- they let us linger and talk forever because it was a weekday and they had just enough space to let us be the first ones in and last out.

Thoroughly enjoyed our meal at The Falls Retreat tonight. It's so nice to have something that is different, even my husband who I have never seen eat beetroot in 30 years of being together really enjoyed everything on his plate. Setting is lovely. Next visit will be in the daytime to enjoy the outdoor setting. Prices are very reasonable and service was great.Would recommend to family and friends.

Great night out had a family birthday and staff could be be more helpful. Waitress was very good. Family liked the pizzas. Very friendly staff. Fire going to warm the place up but as it is winter you do need to dress accordingly.

Such an awesome place to spend an afternoon. THE BEST Pizzas and desserts! Everything is really tasty and beautifully presented. The playground is a wonderful attraction for the kids while the adults get to enjoy the song of the cicadas and peaceful atmosphere. We will be back!

We had a girls weekend away. Such a special place and special people who work there. Incredible food and amazing value for money.

We took my mother here for her birthday one Saturday. The place is beautiful. You can sit outside and watch the kitchen at work, or you can sit inside where they tend to put you if you are having a special meal like someones birthday. I found the prices good value and the food was beautiful. No complaints in regards to the food. The service was pretty good, but they need to work on attention to detail. It wasn't busy there but they mixed up my wife's gluten free pizza with my son's gluten pizza. It wasn't until my wife took a couple of bites that we figured it out and had to swap. When we ordered two additional drinks for our children during the meal, one came but the other didn't. We had to ask a couple of times for it. When it came time to pay the bill I was presented at the counter the bill, which I checked, but it wasn't even our bill - it was from another table and turned out more expensive than mine. They finally worked out what my bill was and I paid it. If I hadn't have checked it (which I shouldn't really have to) I would have paid someone else's bill more expensive than mine. Service aside, the food is really good, the location is superb and everyone is friendly, so I would recommend you go here.

Wonderful experience. I cannot fault the food, the service, the atmosphere or the scenery all these elements lent itself to an easy afternoon spent sipping on an excellent Riesling.

Its the first time we have been here and although very busy the staff were excellent. The chef here has a wonderful way of combining flavours even to the point of the garlic bread being the best i have ever tasted, and I'm fussy! Will definately go back, we could not fault a thing.

Beautifully located in the Karangaheke Gorge. This wee gem is surrounded by trees and manicured grounds. Added bonus it has a couple of accommodation units for that special occasion. I love they grow their own herbs and veges to add to the spectacular dishes. We have been here many times and the food is always of a very high consistent level along with the service and friendly staff.

Absolute dream! We got married here and came back for our first anniversary this year. The waterfall cabin, where we stayed for 2 nights with their romantic getaway package, is very quaint, with even an outdoor bath for an extra bit of luxury! The food (the beautiful welcome hamper full of yummy grazing food, dinners at the bistro and cooked breakfast) was divine as usual (everyone absolutely raved about the food at our wedding here), and the staff are so welcoming and lovely. They even remembered us from our wedding which felt quite special. Will come back here in a heartbeat, and in fact, never wanted to leave in the first place.

Beautiful location, and amazing food. My partner has server gluten intolerance and their gluten free pizza base is the best I have had. We find it hard to find a place that will or can accommodate for her disorder and either just leave or eat average food, but the crew at The Falls Retreat have gone the extra mile for her. We will be back. Thank you.

Great food and location. The electricity was off when we arrived due to a short I think however the kitchen was still able to turn out lovely food. A credit to them. Fireplace ensured we were warm. I would go again.

We have visited a fair few times now and falls retreat never disappoints. The setting is beautiful, the food is absolutely delicious and fresh (you can’t go past the pasta of the day or the house Sodas) and the service is great too. Highly recommend, also totally worth staying if they have accomodation available. It’s so peaceful and the brekky and picnic is also delicious.

The lamb was amazing with so many flavors and the pizza was second to none. We live in Atlanta and have a ton of options when it comes to food, but none of them compare to this. If your’re passing through like we were, it’s Definitely worth the stop.

Amazing food, loved it. Fusion cuisine at its finest. Pan fried Snapper was to die for. Loved the Organic Pinot Gris from Terrace Edge. Friendly service. Cute cosy accomodation. Snuggled up for a vino in front of the fire during the storm with the sound of the rushing waterfall not far away. Highly recommend.

Great food, we were seated in the big room which was noisy as there was a function on. Probably will check next time if there are functions on, prefer going there when its quieter. Food and service is great.

we spent the night in the waterfall cabin for our 6 year wedding anniversary. It was perfect, just the break we needed and had everything to make our stay comfortable. I will definitely go back and I dont need it to be a special day to visit.

Absolutely amazing food! This is a must try if you’re in the area or for a special occasion. It is a bit more on the expensive side, but definitely worth it as each dish offers unique and exciting alternatives to the traditional ‘chips & veg’ on the side. Presentation and setting is also on par with the food. Top quality, sensational! P.S If you have even just a couple of minutes, it’s well worth checking out the waterfall just down and across the road!

Great food and good coffee with friendly helpful staff. Pleasant seating with wood fire and gas patio heaters to keep out the winter chills. Not cheap but the meals are well worth the price.

What a beautiful venue to elope! Came here for a friend's wedding. The food and drinks were good. I think the veges on our plate were all grown on site too. Just make sure to bring insect repellent as the mosquitoes had a feast that night.

Consistent and good for the area but a lot pricier than it should be. A few more starter options would have seen us spend a lot more though. Lovely setting!

What a hidden gem! Stopped at the waterfalls nearby, feeling a bit hungry. Found signs for a bistro, looked it up on maps and found it was reviewed highly. Thought we'd give it a shot but didn't expect much. But it was great - great food, friendly and attentive staff and a lovely setting in the woods. There's lots of space for parking for cars and bikes. The driveway up to the bistro is quite steep and small, though.

Stopped here for a late family lunch after visiting the Karangahake Gorge. Absolutely hands down the best pizza that I have had for as long as I can remember.

This place is a hidden foodie treasure. I have been with friends and family several times. Will appeal to lovers of food prepared and served with the passion that fresh food deserves. The environment is rustic, friendly, relaxed, but as I said the food flavours and presentation exceptional. You can stay and explore with the Hauraki rail trail running past nearby. New Zealand is full of treasures like this place, give it a try. I dare you?

The pork main feels like a fushion dish... With the pork similar to cantonese roast pork common in Singapore. Extremely delicious and pefectly done. Chocoholic is yummy, i'm a fan of choco so i might be biased.

After walking the Karangahake Gorge in the morning, we happened upon the Falls Retreat Bistro by chance - up a tree-lined drive and into an ample carpark. We spotted our table under a shady tree. Perfect informal setting. I was intrigued by the gingerbread house which is the restaurant with its tacked on kitchen, lined with saucepans, where we could watch the chef cooking our pizza order in the woodfired stove. Great waitress, all the way from Scotland, who provided just the right level of friendliness and service. Frequently topped up water was especially welcome. We cleaned up the flavoursome dips that came with a fresh, whole, small loaf of warm bread - most impressive looking. The men wompfed into their wood fired pizzas. I put the diet aside to help myself to an irresistible slice of my husband's meat lovers' pizza. My salmon on potato mash was also a treat. Our discovery of the Falls Retreat Bistro was serendipitous - a quiet, cool and shady spot on a hot day, where we replenished our hungry selves before embarking on the walk through the rail tunnel.

Wow is all I can say. Just had the most amazing culinary delight at this awesome venue. A gastonimic dining experience that will surely be repeated. Can't say enough. Thankyou

I can not recommend this place enough! We went for dinner with a variation of the (I think) 'made from scratch' menu. We were lucky enough to get a table in the room next door after a call as they were fully booked and boy I am glad we did! The service was amazing and very attentive, the man that was serving us had a good sense of humour and came to check on us at all the right times. We ordered the grazing board and wood fire pizzas which came out perfectly after each other. The grazing board was to die for! Everything matched nicely with each other and we even brought some of the chuckneys as they were just too good! (beetroot one is perfect!). The pizza was everything you want to, dough was delicious and cooked perfectly, my partner got the meat lovers and highly rated it and myself the margarita with heaps of Basil! If we had room for dessert we would've definitely stayed. Already planning to come here to stay next time!

If you want a place to unwind and recharge this is the place. Friendly greeting when we arrived. Beautiful breakfast basket of fresh homemade bread, jam, marmalade with muesli..free range eggs and fruit. Stayed in the Log Cabin...so cosy and comfortable, quiet and easy walk to see the waterfall. Lots of trails for walking. Staff were lovely. Had pizza and oh so good. Next night...The Feast...great flavours and made with fresh homegrown ingredients. Loved the tranquility and the whole experience.
