Reviews of The Front Room Coastal Eatery
A.
Lovely food, lovely staff. Waffles could have done with slightly more (berry and syrup) topping. Lots of options on the menu that appealed so we'll definitely be back!

We attended the Imagination Gin tasting evening. The atmosphere was great and it was a beautiful evening for it. Sitting out in the grass area out the back with some live jazz playing it was hard to beat. Imagination Gin and their hospitality team were great but the overall service was confused and slow. We often had servers bring us orders from other tables and our orders took a long time to arrive.
The food menu was a bit sparse on excitement. For such a cool event it would be have been nice to do an event specific menu or even a simple BBQ. We would have loved some tapas or street food type offerings. They do Bao buns during the day. Some different fillings in those buns would have been great or sliders or even tacos would have gone down a treat.
Overall we did enjoy it but it could have been really spectacular. All the base ingredients were there. Perfect weather, wonderful setting and some tasty, tasty Gin. Next time I reckon this could be so much better. We look forward to the find out at the next one.

The salt and pepper calamari was phenomenal. So tender and cooked beautifully, and the combination of the sweetness and sourness of the pineapple and other dressings were amazing. Honestly one of the nicest meals I’ve had in a while, and very reasonably priced with a generous portion. Thanks for a great experience.

What a delightful setting out the back.. the food was delicious, I ordered mushrooms with bread and a side salad.. I specifically asked what the salad was and the waitress went away, came back and said it is Rocket.. I asked if I could have another kind of salad as I do NOT like rocket (who does?). My meal came back and I said that I had asked that it not be Rocket to which she replied "It's not Rocket!" It looked like Rocket and the bit I had tasted like Rocket so I think it was probably Rocket!! Why do restaurants THINK we like Rocket?? Anyway, lovely setting and food (apart from the Rocket!!)

Outdoor space was wonderful. I heard a conversation with a waiting staff and a customer who was seated outside on the grass under the tree on the far side. The staff said they don't serve tables on the grass, so i think you had to collect your order from the outside bar. Something to be aware of. The staff were pleasant and professional. I was disappointed not to be able to order a scone at 10am, instead I ordered a scroll which was similar to apple roly poly, but had a savoury filling instead. The dough was dry and the filling wasn't salty enough, and that's something coming from me as I don't cook in salt.

Really good coffee! Pleasant staff. Counter food was very limited - approx 5 choices but only one spinach and olive scroll left at 10.30. New owners are trying hard. My little group are missing the delicious salmon bagles from the previous regime however.

Had the calamari and wife had the Bao buns, delicious. Coffee was ok, but so delicious and an awesome outdoor seating area. Recommended!

8 of us (pre-booked) had a below par experience here and it was a shame for the new owners. Food unnecessarily overcooked across all dishes. 3 of us had the eggs benedict and were unanimously underwhelmed but the saving grace was their chips (crispers), these were outstanding, delicious and well presented arguably the best we had ever had. If the presentation and kitchen skills can get close to their "crispers" then this is a cafe to watch. I'm sure these are just teething troubles. Good luck to the new owners.

Beautiful courtyard for our brunch. Food was excellent and service was great. We were there early on a sunny midweek morning - this place can get really busy on the weekends

Food, service and atmosphere all in one place, didn't think it was possible but it is! If you haven't eaten there you're missing out! I try something new each time I go through.

Orders came out a little slow with children's meal coming out after the adults meals however meals were delicious service was good and staff friendly
A.
Terribly unorganized. There seemed to be one guy running around like a blue arsed fly doing 90% of the work. Shame really. Great spot.

Good food, good atmosphere and the best vegan waffle according to the kid. ❤️
