Decent but average Indian place in wanaka. Haven’t been to any other Indian place in wanaka so difficult to compare with local stuff.w We had chicken biryani and the rice was lower quality of basmati. However from NZ perspective this is what you get at most places. 25$ approx. quantity was a little less but came with generous serving of yoghurt. Also had fish 21$ and chicken tikkas 16$. Fish tika was definitely better although an extra piece would definitely be appreciated. Chicken tikka was ok. Avoid daal makhni. 21$ as it felt like cream and nothing much else. Palak paneer 23$ was ok but definitely over priced for quantity. Nanny’s for 4$ each and nothing to write about. There r better places for naans but then in wanaka prolly not. Overall not bad food 243$ without any drinks. That’s about 24.3$ per head as we were 10 adults. Service / waiter attitude can certainly be more polite, empathic. But I guess during full holiday season (2 Jan visit) this would be difficult to achieve in a place like nz.. Try other Indian places if there are any in wanaka.

The curries here were really tasty. We had the rogan josh and the chicken korma. The portions are large, which is good because the prices are a bit high (~$25 for a curry with rice). Garlic naan was nice and I liked how they bring it out in a large dish for the whole table to share. Staff were friendly and service was good.

Sensational experience from start to finish. Wonderful staff and incredible food. The manager/owner is the kindest man, and so knowledgeable as well as extremely welcoming and inviting. We absolutely love Bombay and will continue to be regular customers there as well as take friends and family as visitors

Walked in at 8.30pm on Saturday with no booking, they're heavily understaffed, managing the whole floor between just a few but didn't hesitate to give us a table. Amazing food, cheap drinks and great service. Absolute LEGENDS! Fancy restaurants in town have so much to learn from these guys! ❤️

Wow!!! Hands down the BEST curry I’ve had in New Zealand!! I’ve been let down a few times in different restaurants but these guys were better than most places back home. If you’re from the UK and want a seriously good curry that reminds you of home, these are your guys!!! Well priced and amazing garlic naan as well! Ps big portions! - the food on the plate was only half of the meal, plus they use bio packaging which is another plus!

Nice views of Lake Wanaka with great food and ambiance. The interior is decorated very well with indian style accents. The outdoor and by window seats have great views of the lake. Service was good and quick. The food was delicious. Especially the Chicken Biryani - it was so good, we came back for it!

Absolutely delicious! The menu is huge and I think it's decent value for size, location and quality. The staff were friendly and even when the dropped some of my chicken in the floor, they made no fuss, quickly getting me a new one. Ordered butter lamb, chicken midras, spinach feta curry (forgot the name) and chicken biryani. All were good but perhaps we should have went for the hot or Indian hot as medium was too sweet for us, but still delicious. Portions were good and cheese naan was really good! Didn’t really like the tandoori mushrooms though the rest of my family likes them. Service was prompt and the view here is magnificent with lake Wanaka.

Superb. We have been here a couple of times. The Cheese Naan is a superhit with my pizza loving son, likewise the Paneer Pasanda. We also like the Veg kadai and the Papdi chaat. The portions are very good, much better than other places. The decor is good, both indoor and outdoor, with a view of the lake. The food is freshly prepared and served hot. The last time we visited in the peak holiday season, the restaurant manager thoughtfully sent us complimentary onion bhajis since there was a staff shortage causing delays to the mains. Good Service!

I love Indian food. This was authentic and delicious except for one detail. One of the dishes was a vegetable biriyani with raisins and almonds. We all shared and none of us found any sign of either. They offered to remake it, but we declined since we had already eaten half. The Goa fish curry was excellent and the raita was perfect. Also had a vegetarian selection for 2.(don't remember its name). Service was excellent. Decor was lovely. We sat outside overlooking the lake in the evening and there were warmers so we were comfortable.

Can't get a better location on a sunny day to enjoy your meal overlooking Lake Wanaka. Service is top class as well with smiles all around. On the food side, the entre was great (dahi poori), the curries were ordinary (both veg and non-veg) while the gravy tasted great - chicken was quite dry and malai kofta was exactly the opposite of the name - very hard. The garlic naans were brilliant and good sized. The curries came with complimentary steamed rice which was pleasantly surprising :) I will give it one more go next time, however the food surely didn't Wow me.

This place has an interesting menu, they have tried to do something different and it clearly comes across - the food here is so delicious! Big thanks to the chefs who make it so very authentic and the spice levels just blew me away! I ordered a chili cheese garlic naan and they actually had cut up green chilis inside which was a great surprise. Usually I only ever see 'chili' in the name but never taste it - this naan is for spice lovers! I ordered the chili cheese garlic naan to go with 'Bhindi Do Pyaaza' - it was just divine! The portions here are generous and they represent a very real taste of India. I went there twice and ordered the same two items and ended this with my favourite dessert - Kesar Pista Kulfi! The Kulfi is another gem - it's a must try for first timers. The kulfi was presented so beautifully, it tasted fresh and the texture of the cream couldn't have been more perfect it was worth the money. One thing we noticed about the kulfi was also the inclusion of the kesar (saffron) and pistachios inside - they weren't just flavours, those two key ingredients were also included as a visual treat. I would love to see Bombay Palace include Paan & Chicoo flavoured kulfi in near future. Until next time team!

Arrived at 8:41 PM, and friendly waitress at the reception still gave us table after informing the restaurant will close by 9:00 PM, and ours will be the last and final order. By 8:56 PM our order was on our table, exactly as we ordered. Delicious food. Perfect spices. We loved the 2 mostly known basic curries, Palak-Paneer & Daal Makhni with Tandoori Roti. Usually Paneer in Palak-Paneer is not soft, but this restaurant's Palak-Paneer was perfect blend of spices and curry like made with passion of cooking. Love the outside sitting atmosphere, which could have been perfect view as well if we came earlier. Very friendly staff, perfect service, delicious food, awesome location. This was best experience dining at restaurant in Wanaka. Will definitely visit again with friends next time.

Loved our experience at Bombay Palace, would highly recommend. Professional, friendly staff and a very comfortable atmosphere, not too fancy but still classy. Wonderful views over Lake Wanaka really made it special. The food was great too, and good portion sizes. We had Chicken Korma and Kadhai Lamb, both medium spice level, garlic naans and mango lassi, all of which were great. The naan was very garlicky and buttery, and the curries had great flavour, you could really taste all the spices. Loved the lassi as well. Thank you for a great night.

Excellent wifi, easy to connect to, vital for when you are waiting over 50 minutes for your meal. They might have been extra busy because it's school holidays and winter. The food was delicious. One of the best garlic naans, absolutely worth it especially when you consider how big it was and it's price. Note that some curries might come with rice included so don't order extra rice.

Bombay is our go to and honestly we haven't been to too many other restaurants despite living in Wanaka because you just can't beat Bombay Palace. The food is divine, atmosphere is great, location with lake views. And Mahesh the manager is an all round legend.

Enjoyed a delicious dinner here, Chicken kadhai with Kasuri chicken. Loved the food, especially the hot naans. But the wait time is ridiculous, especially considering it was a Wednesday night. That aspect is very poorly managed, as there was plenty of outdoor seating available, but was never offered to us. Staff was friendly but need some better training.

Wow this place blew me away from start to finish. Very nicely decorated inside, awesome middle eastern music too. The samosas were the best I’ve had. Mains were generous and delicous. Unfortunately the main my partner and I shared was too hot for her, so without asking they served her yoghurt and entire new meal that was milder. All the staff were so nice. It tops most UK curry houses this one. Biggest thanks to the staff at the front desk who shared the amazing playlist with us. We’re buzzin of your music. Bahramji is the boss. Great food! Lots of options. Vegetarian and easy modifications for our diet. The views of the lake are stunning. The three stars are for service. We felt like we had 5 people around but no one in charge. We were short of small plates to start. Silverware and napkins were next to be missing. At the end of a large dinner when we asked to take away what was left we were handed a bunch of plastic and some kind of small bags. To spend this kind of money with this type of appearance of the restaurant it was embarrassing to have to pack everything especially with what we were given. The plastic seems off point considering the sparkling water is carbon neutral with a paper straw. I was taking my kids and guests out for a nice experience. The end of the night felt like we were going to end up doing dishes. This is the second Bombay Palace we've been to and I expected much better service than this night.

We enjoyed the balcony seating which gave us a good view of the surroundings. Good food and good service translated into two visits in two days! A minus is the stairs to climb if you have mobility issues...I am not aware if they have other alternative arrangements for those with mobility issues.Check with the staff before you go.

Really good food. One of the best curries i ve had in NZ. The garlic naan was also excellent also with the service. You get a good value for the price as well because the portion that they give you was more than enough for us and had left overs. Tried other restaurants in Wanaka with disappointing results as food is below average with a big price tag, but will definately be coming back to Bombay Palace whenever we come back to Wanaka.

Very nice. Great service. The kachumba was cut too coarse for my personal taste and had lettuce. I'm guessing that's a regional thing. Otherwise kulcha, onion bhaji were great. The Lamb Chop Masala was fantastic at heat level 10 out of 10. Great sweat but still flavour was excellent.

Although we were very satisfied with the staff, decor + ambience, serving portions and top class views of the mountains within the lake at sunset ...overall though the dishes and drinks were lacking freshness and flavour that we are usually accustomed to. Butter chicken flavour was way off the mark. Five hour cooked lamb shank should be so moist & tender it should be falling off the bone and not bit dense and dry in centre. Marinade of my lamb shank was not discernible from my blandish butter chicken which is usually a mark of mediocrity. Vegetable samoasa should be packed with aromatic freshness and not taste like something prepared week ago. I hope they rework their recipe for some of their mains going forward.

OH LAWD!! I’m hurting, I ate so much. I couldn’t stop, it was so good. The poor old people sitting behind us didn’t know what they’re in for, they ordered A LOT. Or maybe they knew exactly what they were in for?! The atmosphere was great, the sights amazing, the food was obviously delicious. Watch out, though- portion sizes are generous, so just calm down and order only what a normal, decent human would eat. Because you might not be able to stop, and then you will have to unbutton your pants. Like me right now.

Insane Indian food! I love indian so eat it A LOT and this is hands down the most delicious indian I have ever tasted. I got the butter chicken (medium spice) and the korma and a few naan breads. Don't worry I didn't eat all of this alone. We rocked up with out a booking (whoops) they were fully booked! But sat us outside with the heaters on and were extremely attentive to us which was fantastic. Couldn't rate this place highly enough, I'll be sorry to go back home and be disappointed with my once delicious indian, nothing compares to the quality of Bombay Palace

This is located in Wanaka. Food is really good. Specially the biryani rice. You can have an outdoor or Indoor seat as t o ur preference if the place is not crowded. Another one of my favorites, Bombay Palace is a delight. Though a bit pricey, it is worth the food and the ambience. Try the Bombay Fish Curry, the Prawn Vindaloo and the Bhindi do Pyaza, it is worth it.
