If coated chicken and fries are your thing then this should be on your radar. Portions are pretty big so it's good value for money, and it's nice to have a range of Fry flavours to suit your tastes. The chicken can be had in a number of heat levels, I wussed out and went for medium but it goes all the way up to ring burning material if spicy is your thing. Well worth checking out if you're after a good feed in Wanaka.

This place took us by surprise. Generous but affordable portions. Astonishing and high quality flavor. Incredible fried chicken. Thyme fries are wonderful. Great sauces. And when they say spicy they mean it.

Awesome chicken, good spice level! Everything hot and freshly cooked. Located in a small alcove area with other food options. Great place to hang by the flowing river! Highly recommend if in the area!

The chicken is very crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside and tasted awesome. Loved the fries as well. I only wondered if it costed a little more than it should, specially extra sauce which costs 50c to 90c in all the places I've been to in Auckland

Ok so I love fried chicken a lot.. So when I say this I mean it... This is the best fried chicken I have EVER hands down no questions asked ever had in my life. The batter is crazily good, so crunchy with so much flavour. The chicken is clearly sourced from a decent butcher. Good not recommend more!!! They even chucked an extra piece of chicken in for me too. (I think I ordered a 2 pack but they gave 3 anyways). Thanks so much!!!

Went many times over the time I was in Wanaka, Sept, Oct, Nov 2021.. 1st time I ordered far too much and was able to have it for breakfast!!. So filling spicy 😋 and indulgent! So worth eating here

Very generous size for the price. It actually surprised us by the size and flavor. Chicken are very nice. If you like the hot spicy food like me, try the “stupid hot”. I can’t get off my mind now. One of the most spicy burger I had in NZ.

Absolutely love it! Great service, amazing food, I love how ya can choose from a number of different hot levels(hottest is not for faint hearted, good to challenge ya mates tho). I drive to Wanaka from Gore whenever I can to get a feed there. Highly recommended!!

The name says it all! This place is fire! Crispy, moist chicken, fresh filled buns and hot crunchy piri piri fries. All served up super quick and not breaking the bank. I wish I hadn’t waited until the last day to come here.

Without a doubt the best fired chicken I have ever had. Burgers were massive and the wings were crispy and succulent. Stupid hot seasoning on the wings were super spicy but well worth the heat. Absolutely reccomended and will be back.

Some brilliant food here! The burger was appropriately spicy with fresh slaw and generous servings; the chips were light and fluffy with some great sauce; and the service was fast and friendly. Will be back here if I’m in Wanaka again!

Absolutely incredible chicken; so moist and practically falls off the bone at will! Please note, the mild sauce is seriously below mild, get the hot one for a bit of fun! Got the half chicken, chips and salad, which is super value at under $20. Only way to get more stars would be to get more seating for dining - as it is in the middle of a food truck huddle with fewer than 5 tables available.

Delicious, fresh, quick and great value, it was a hit for our family. We had the chicken Caesar salad, corn fritters, thyme fries and a chicken burger. Chips were perfectly cooked and the thyme and salt sprinkle is a game changer. Everything else was perfectly presented and cooked. If you're not a fan of sitting in the food truck shared setting area it's only a minute or two to get to the lakefront for a perfect lakeside picnic dinner.

Super friendly staff. I got the 2 piece pack with thyme fries (phenomenal) at a hot spicy level chicken plus a bottle of their hot sauce. The chicken was succulent and the batter/coating was flavoursome and light (think the opposite of KFC with the dense greasy drippings) the coleslaw was excellent too - thyme in there too? We had to go back to buy more hot sauce and nearly another meal. Big ups will definitely hit that spot again.

What an absolute find.. We found this place just coincidentally trolling around... Fantastic tasty spicy chicken... Owners/Staff is great.. after ordering their spiciest chicken they offered to wash our hands in their kitchen and made sure we are ok.. we need more stalls like this for sure.. I will be definitely coming back when I am in wanaka again.. Thanks..

OMG firebird was one of the best lunches we had in New Zealand! Such a delicious hot chicken sandwich, great fries and dipping sauces and some good ole karma cola. The service was great and the staff was super friendly! Craving it right now and wishing we were back in Wanaka ❤️

Delicious! Chicken super juicy and tender. I had the corn fritter roll and loved it - crispy on the outside and soft and sweet inside. Piri-Piri sauce and the bbq sauce both authentic and rustic. We’ll be back (probably tomorrow!)

Get the haloumi burger. Do not delay, do not make excuses about wanting to eat a meat burger instead, just get the haloumi burger. It was incredible. Admittedly the chicken burger and the corn fritters were also excellent, but honestly, the haloumi burger is the real MVP. Wowza 10/10 would eat again.
