Had some food. It took a while to come but it was busy and it was a nice relaxing place to sit and drink. Was interesting to see the bar that had been to London and back, found it odd no mention of it really. Some good memorabilia on display. Pool table for $2 a game.

Four of us had lunch at Luggate hotel on Sunday. They had stopped serving lunch,but restarted the kitchen just for us,which we REALLY appreciated! The battered bluff oysters were delicious,and the steak with the surf and turf was tender & cooked perfectly. The waitress was friendly and happy. We would definitely go back there.

Lovely buildings and area, good food but a little pricy (still went twice). Encountered a regular that the staff know who was very inconsiderate - I moved away from him and minded my own business but won't return. Life's too short to deal with people like that.

Good menu to select from and well cooked/presented. Can easily vouch for the Whitebait Fritter special - they don't skimp on the Whitebait quantity. Historical atmosphere both inside and outside - similar to the Cardrona Hotel. Menu pricing in the middle-upper range, but still good value. Will be back again.

Okay for a beer, not much more though. The café is non-existent, food options were fairly limited to typical pub fare – no real vegetarian options, hospitality was lacking – our presence felt like an inconvenience for the host. If you want to see an old-style pub you could visit, but if you are looking for a range of food options and some friendly hospitality head somewhere else.

The buger was very nice. The wait of 90min wait was far too long given they where not the busy. Seems to be only 2 staff working. The cook kept going to the shop next door. What is with that??

Just spent 2 weeks down on the South island we ate out most nights and had alot of very average meals. However the Luggart hotel did us proud. There were 6 of us and all our meals were cooked to perfection all served at the same time and steaming hot. I would say if you want some good food grub go and try it.

Great host and staff. The atmosphere has a rural feel with a huge outdoor area which sits perfectly against the hill. 2 outdoor fires and an home to the international traveled Speights bar. Part of NZ heritage. A must see.

May be the only eatery in the area. It is a local pub that can offer great meals. I had steak and chips which was a decent portion and tasty. There is a backyard garden for patrons braving outdoor meals or drinks.

After many trips to Central Otago and wanting to stop in at the Luggage (usually its flat out busy) finally managed to find a quiet moment to take in this little gem of a pub. Welcoming staff greet you as you enter...I had their venison burger,fries and a cold on tap craft beer to wash it down! Flavoursome burger - crispy fries and a cold beer....it doesn't get much better!

We called in on the afternoon of NYE for a quick bite before heading to work down the road. Deliberately ordered something quick and easy (a platter of deep fried assortments) for $25NZD, took nearly 45mins to arrive (paid at 3.25pm, arrived at 4:10) and was mostly chips with a small basket of what was described, but nowhere near the quantity expected from others similar establishments. Next time will carry on towards Wanaka. And whilst the place was moderately busy for a local hotel, it looked very understaffed for the time of year

Live local / hotel built of local schit stone /small stables to side of hotel being up graded only internal for small shop not allowed to touch external stone work. A lot of old photos have been put back into pub by new owner small cafe also in side pub coffee. / sandwiches/ pies /sit down or takeaways 8am open for cafe only. Pub open 11am.
