Love coming here for a quick meal! I'm a fan of the Roti bread and the chicken skewers. But I've been here with a bridal party and they had something yummy for all of us! So a great place to come in a group. Highly recommend!

Delicious food, great Iced Tea and they brought the food out super quickly so it’s perfect if you are in a rush. Prices are fine and it‘s in the perfect spot, especially when you have been out in the city shopping or exploring the area. Wish I would have tried out their Mango Sticky Rice, maybe next time we‘re in Wellington!

The food came out fast, good service. Just that the food was too salty for me, almost drank a whole bottle of water😅.

Very nice food ! The pork skewers actually tasted like the ones I had in Bangkok ! And the menu offers a nice range of choice. However I got charged extra for the fried egg in the basil chicken dish and the egg came over cooked. I am pretty sure the concept of fried egg is that the yolk remains runny ! Otherwise, nice experience overall, although the waitresses and waiters are not really smiley...

Great food really yummy, easy to order and a cool atmosphere to dine in. The only thing is that sometimes there are people working like mopping the floors and cleaning the glass during operating hours and that is kinda annoying for me. Otherwise amazing food and atmosphere

Very spacious and modern inside. Prompt service and a huge choice at reasonable prices. They are very good at giving you water which comes in interesting imprinted metal goblets and refilling them. You choose what you want from a long list at the door pay in advance and then you are served. Worth walking up the Cuba Mall. It is near the bucket fountain.

Awesome experience. My daughters suggestion. Early evening clean, no crowds, spacious and with a well thought out, straight forward Asian menu. I had a pork dish and my daughter had a noodle dish ...forgot names. Both around $15 - $17 mark and a light beer. Polite and efficient service, meal arrived less than 5 minutes of sitting down. Fresh, flavoursom and and satisfying. Well done.

Amazing thai food! Whole family enjoyed it. Highly recommend this restaurant, you will not be disappointed. We had the Chicken Cashew, Fried Rice, Pad Thai, Green Curry, Soup and Spring Rolls. All totally delicious!

I ordered the Tom Yum and was a bit disappointed because it wasnt that sour enough for my standards. However the restaurant is fantastic. Good staff and choice of Thai food.

This is a great place for a quick and tasty Thai meal. There are plenty of options for mains and they have fresh and well prepared ingredients. The curry puffs as an entree are delicious. Food service is quick and staff are friendly, while the cost is very reasonable. Go check it out in Cuba Street, sit by the window and watch the famous bucket fountain.

We had a group of 12 with us. Each ordered something different. I had the Roti entree and Beef Phad Thai main. Both meals were fresh and very delicious. Food arrived quickly for the table. Prices are very reasonable. My husband and I both got an entree, main and a drink totalled about $60. Very reasonable for Wellington city standards. The place was clean and spacious, even when busy. I would recommend this place. After visiting Thailand it's hard to find a place that does good tasting Thai food. So far, this place is the best!

Came here the other day for the first time and the food was really damn tasty. Saying that though, I've yet to find a Thai place that lives up to some of the Thai food I've had in other countries, this place included. The food was really good, don't get me wrong... But it didn't leave me thinking WOW! Staff were super friendly and the prices were pretty good! Definitely a viable option for Thai!

We came in looking for a nice dinner and decided to give Aroy a go while walking down Cuba St. The decor is nice and they have these Thai aluminium cups for water. You order and pay for your food at the counter and get a number. The mains came out super quick for us, but we also ordered a side of rice and tim yum soup. When we were halfway through our mains I asked staff if we could have our rice and soup sides. We got our rice but no soup. By the time we finished our dinner I had to ask for my soup as it still hadn't been served. Service was fast for mains, but forgetful for our sides... Food was great, reasonable portions (not too much) and the flavours weren't too heavily seasoned. Pad Thai wasn't too sweet and the noodles (thin) soaked up all the flavour. Crispy pork with bok choy had the skin of the pork done well and it wasn't too greasy. Chicken with cashew nuts also had well flavoured veges in with it, very delicious. However.... the tom yum soup failed to deliver for me. It was exceptionally sweet which on top of the onions added in the soup became too rich within 3 sips. A real shame. Shop was clean and tidy, staff mostly attentitive although a bit forgetful, and the food hit the spot for the most part.

Just a really solid place to come. My favourite green curry and roti. Clean and simple. Staff do their jobs well. Great for a chain.

Average Thai fast food. Not more, not less. Service was lacking but food came out very quickly. I had the Pad Thai, usually a signature dish. It was a big portion and very filling, but flavour was just average.

Having only recently moved to wellington, it's business have unknowingly entered competition for my stomachs regular attendance. Aroy is in for a victory with their speedy service and delicious menu. Meals with a large group, a small group and dining solo have all been fantastic. Aroy is worth a visit.

Aroy is a wonderful restaurant if you're looking for high quality food in a casual environment. I went with a friend two times in two days! The food was spectacular! Plenty of seating, staff are friendly and helpful. Not much of a fan of the fact you have to get your own water and go up to the counter to order but it’s not too bad, food comes out very quick and is delicious. Definitely recommend this place, good for up to even 10 people ☺️

Amazing value and delicious Thai food. We love Aroy so much we visited twice! The portions are generous and the cost can not be beaten. The dishes were authentic and tasty.

Staff are always friendly and OH BOY is the food delicious! I'm vegetarian and love the Tom Yum soup with noodles (so so tasty), and the Panang Curry. All options can be vegetarian :D I go here at least once a week.

. (04/2018) Located over Cuba Street, this is one of the best Thai restaurants in Wellington. Convenient location and can be easily spotted on the roadside. Well organised and nicely maintained. Cosy atmosphere and comfortable seating. Beautiful ambiance. Well timed and friendly service. Helpful staff although can be very busy at times. Table service. Plentiful food options including dedicated menu for vegans and vegetarians. Food is delicious and presentation is awesome. The most surprising dish that we enjoyed best was Tub Tim Krob or Mock Pomegranate Seeds, a dessert - unique one. Outdoor seating is not available but window seating can be used to enjoy the sunlight. Could not notice wheelchair accessible seating or high chair in plain view at this location. Reservations can be made in advance. PayWave facility is not available at this location. Good for groups, celebrations, family, kids and catch-ups. Normally busy during peak hours. There is no dedicated parking area available for this restaurant. Entrance is not wheelchair accessible.

Tasty Thai food . Good food , good price

The service was a quite lacking in coordination but the food was amazing and the value was great too. Hoping to go back and try more of their menu but perhaps takeaway to avoid the awkward service.

We went to this restaurant on a Saturday for lunch. The food was delicious and the service was good. The food amount was very good for us, not too much, as we don't like to waste food. Will be back again.

Delicious, fairly cheap, and large portions. You won't have to wait long for your food, I recommend the Massaman beef. It's a casual experience in the heart of Cuba Street.

I don't know where people have eat in Thaïland before to come here, but the Pad Thaï is definitely average (i've try fancy and cheap places and the most generous and memorable was in the last ones). Almost nothing in it, pretty basic, very few vegetables, more cheap overcooked noodles than something else, not generous for a pen, more like a porridge... As one of the emblematic meal for a Thaï restaurant, the others meals should be on the same quality level or less i suppose... It's just ok, still a bit tasty hopefully. Nice atmospher though.

This popular and busy eatery in Cuba Mall offers a wide selection of tasty Thai street food served quickly, piping hot and in generous portions – perfect for an affordable mid week dinner and a great place to take children - I have been a long time patron of Aroy but think since their refurbishment a few months back, addition of a bar license, and redecoration to a minimally decorated but spacious and very pleasant diner with a central bar and serving counter the commercialisation of the brand (as there are now 3 x Aroys - Courtney Place & Newtown) has affected the once perfect (IMHO) Thai Street dishes that they used to serve. Hard to put my finger on it but if I had to use one word to describe the change it would be "bland". The roti was a tad too greasy and the peanut sauce was not the iconic peanut sauce of the past. Roast Duck as a main was a bit disappointing and very average - it was quite watery and chewy - certainly not a patch on the succulent glazed roast duck served in the past which was something to die for - the bed of bok choy was more like regular stir fry veges and sauce bland - don't get me wrong, it's still a great place to go to if you want an affordable and great value diner to go to, It is just in my opinion that in the effort to get food out hot and quickly the commercialisation of the brand has taken an edge off the food from its previously super tasty street food status.

Aroy is nice, and offers cheap Thai all across wellington. My only gripe is the quality of meal you get varies from restaurant to restaurant. The aroy Thai on Courtney place is the best, and the one in Newtown probably the worse.

Average Thai food. We had the beef noodles, tom yum and basil chicken with rice. The broth for the beef noodles was horribly salty but the beef was fantastic. Tom yum wasn't good but it wasn't that bad. The basil chicken lacked the spicyness you'd expect from the dish. Portions were huge and service was good. If you're craving Thai food, this could just be the place to satisfy those cravings.
