Reviews of Atlas
P.
Atlas definitely held up to our (high) expectations... Enormous thought and care has been taken to create an exceptional and memorable epicurean experience. It was the perfect choice to celebrate my 50th birthday and my partner’s 64th!
With an exquisitely curated fresh and seasonal tasting menu and equally impressive wine list, the pleasure factor was intense from start to finish!
The ambience was one of relaxed simple elegance, underpinned by an appealing timeless feel and youthful energy, which we happily luxuriated in for many hours.
Of special note, last but not least: Atlas’s ‘dream team’ of hospitality professionals... The vibrant, knowledgeable and passionate young team set the bar incredibly high. They delivered an outstanding hospitality experience that was in every sense lush and seamless in its execution.
Everyone on the Team we witnessed impressed us, but extra special mention goes to Duna, whose warmly welcoming, innately joyful, serene and impeccable manner set the tone for the evening, and Jeremy, our articulate, generous and charming Host and Sommelier, whose deep knowledge of wine and food matching engaged us every step of the way and guided us through an exciting, surprising and pleasurable journey of indulgence. We were utterly charmed and completely fell in love with Atlas!
Recommend highly to anyone who genuinely appreciates good wine and food, and a relaxed yet chic, world class hospitality experience!
Warmest regards and all our thanks,
Prue Steele and Ellen McPherson

It’s not often you eat somewhere and become enamoured with the food and overall experience as you do at Atlas, from the gorgeous oysters to start to the beautiful deserts and everything in between. You really do feel like a real foodie when hearing descriptions of all the food and wine your enjoying. Great way to top off a special week, make sure you check it out!
L.
The taste of the dishes, environment and services were good, but the quantity of food at $125 per person were not enough for us.
S.
Fantastic experience as always. Top class service and interesting dishes with beautiful wine matches. Very knowledgeable staff.
Excellent value for money. I hear they just won a Hat and I can understand way. Highly recommend.
s.
Always a culinary revelation, the mix of tastes is an experience. If you are a foodie, please book a reservation and savor each dish on the tasting menu including local seasonal ingredients. Greater Wellington served on 7 plates of pleasure.

Dined here on recommendation from a friend, and it was really good. The atmosphere was top notch, mostly because we had a great spot at the chefs table. Really impressed by how immaculate, organised and calm the kitchen was. The seasonal three course menu was well presented and tasty (the malt butter should be patented and sold to the highest bidder!) and the FOH staff were attentive and knowledgeable. Mixed feedback on the wine from some of our party but all in all pretty great night.
C.
Absolutely lovely evening. Took a couple of hours to get through our menu, so it's not really the kinda place you go to for a quick bite.
However, if you want to chill out in a nice atmosphere and escape the hustle and bustle with great food and drinks, this is your place.
All the staff were super lovely and had a real passion for their craft. They alone are worth a visit.
Menu was quirky, delicious and well explained. Deceptively filling as well 🤣
R.
Top restaurant and dining experience. The food was brilliant and the 7 different courses made it a fun experience in itself waiting to see and then explore what each of the unique foods were. The staff are attentive and gave us a quieter table in an alcove as requested ahead of the booking so my lady and I could have more privacy and less background chatter. We will be back for sure.
S.
Intimate and inviting space, friendly and knowledgeable wait staff. We had the 7 course degustation - an incredible flavour and texture experience. The standouts were the unctuous and rich caviar bites, tender and marbled wagyu steak, and the petit four (not pictured) which was the most delightfully decadent way to finish off the meal. To do this restaurant justice, you have to do the dégustation!
H.
Absolutely stunning. Caters extremely well for food intolerances. Stay very attentive. Extremely knowledgeable about wine.
S.
We went for a celebratory birthday dinner and had the chef's tasting menu. We were very impressed not only with the food and presentation but also with the flow and balance. All the dishes served were precise and refined. Loved the king fish tartare and the fennel salad. The gurnard also is worth mentioning. My husband and son had the lamb saddle and that also deserves a mention for how perfectly cooked it was. The service was impeccable. Ticked all the boxes for us!
B.
Nothing short of perfect. 7 courses of delight. Better than last time we went if that is possible.
S.
An absolutely stunning evening off food. The closest comparison would be amano in Auckland or London’s fine food establishments. Treat yourself to a local gourmet feast.
T.
It had a great atmosphere and the staff and starters were incredible. The wine selection and quality was first class but it was downhill from there. The mains were disappointing, the beef wasn't as good as my last BBQ and the fish was beautifully presented but on the bone which distracted us from the flavours, after 2 spit outs from bones that I had missed I gave up (I am not a fish chef). Although the desserts were clever they were a mess of tastes. Big money for Big disappointment. Sorry it didn't work for me. Not having pay wave and having to be informed of a surcharge for using a credit card was awkward for the staff and me - ironically this parting shot left a bad taste.
t.
stunning food. amazing service. do need a little more info on source of product. but it's a very minor niggle after a very memorable dinner.
S.
We were fortunate enough to have tea here tonight. The food was beautiful, cooked to perfection. The staff were pleasant, friendly and knowledgable. The food is a selection of local and organic products, we had the lemon sole and the wagyu rump, both were just lovely.
They have a unique cider collection and I recommend at least trying each one of them.
One of the finest dining experiences in Wellington, look forward to our return visit.
N.
Dined here and had a fantastic time. We had their vegetarian tasting menu and it was brilliant. Highly recommended.
S.
Front of house staff have mastered the right level of attentiveness. Wine selection = mind blowing. Had the tasting menu, sad to say only two of the dishes really impressed. The rest was good but not amazing.
A.
Such a special place. I saw the review on Instagram by 'Eat Lit Food' and so glad I booked it for our weekend getaway. Everything was perfect from the comfortable seating, to the beautifully spoken waitress, and not to mention the fantastic food. There was lots to eat on the seasonal menu, its kind of a set menu but trust the process and try new things, its was so delicious.
The restaurant itself is a bit of a hidden gem, as soon as you walk in I felt like I was in a swanky NY or London restaurant. We found it very reasonably priced and with drinks too. I fell in love with Reid & Reid gin yum! Thank you for having us and for a memorable experience!!! You have everything so right!!!!!
B.
Beautiful food and excellent staff. Everyone at Atlas is there to make your visit perfect. Which starts with the bar and ends with the food.
We had the sole, wagyu and some sides. Have the selection of breads first. The serving sizes are amazing which makes the prices ‘value for money’ as the maître d noted.
Highly recommended - we had a great evening.
A.
Beautiful servings, amazing balance of flavors. Great options as none of the dishes clashed, all complimented each other brilliantly. Highly recommend the desserts but everything before that is just as good. Nice atmosphere and very friendly and helpful staff :). Worth a go if you like simply great food. stunning food. amazing service. do need a little more info on source of product. but it's a very minor niggle after a very memorable dinner.
A.
Absolutely fantastic, the whole experience was wonderful start to finish. The staff were attentive, friendly, fun and engaging. They really made it feel like they wanted us to be there, not like it was just a job. They also showed great passion and enjoyment for what they were doing as well. Special note was Jong the sommelier, he was the best, we chatted wine almost the whole evening. He matched the pairings really well and even made me guess a couple of the wines which was great fun. Food was good, not mind blowing but good. A great time and experience, I would go back, it's a wine lovers paradise.
R.
Really enjoyed the food, atmosphere, wine and service. Highly recommend.
L.
My self, my wife Holly and our five years old son called Atlas had dinner. One word: Fantastic!
The dishes were delicious and matched with perfect wine (Bixio Rinero from Italy and Devotus from New Zeland) The service was OUTSTANDING! Our son loved the food. Everything about it was just great! We are coming back! Thank you to all Atlas's crew, Cheers!
R.
Awesome food and excellent service. Water glass was never once empty and the server made a point to ask us if the alcohol in the dessert was an issue since we both weren't drinking that night. Which I thought was very thoughtful and attentive. Look forward to visiting again!
N.
One of the very best dining experiences in my lifetime. Took my partner and some friends for her 40th and had a really amazing and intimate private dining upstairs. The vegan options for me were fantastic too. Bravo guys. Super impressed!
N.
The restaurant is a beautiful and intimate space , perfect for a date night .
Great there is a vegetarian tasting menu and the staff were accommodating when we asked if we could make a slight menus switch .
We felt well looked after but server changed constantly throughout the night , other tables had constant attention from one server , I think the latter is better .
I found all the vegetarian main dishes quite heavy would have been good to have something acidic to cut through this .
Beautiful meal - favourite were the beetroot macroons . Loved it , thanks
M.
We had the tasting menu with wine pairing (not cellar selection as too expensive) - for the most part the dishes had great flavours and presentation. Although the beetroot macaroon way too sweet and the passionfruit dessert way too tart and not offset by chocolate ganache. Staff very attentive and enthusiastic in their knowledge of the wine but unfortunately the wine pairings were awful and did not complement the dishes at all we did not enjoy any of the wines presented. Also rudely charged extra for credit card payment. Honestly felt cheated by the whole experience.
A.
An excellent restaurant providing exceptional food and a great selection of wines. We had the spring seasonal menu and will definitely go with the degustation menu next time. Service very good as were the acoustics. Highly recommended
J.
Absolutely beautiful food - amazing flavour and presentation. It would be one of the best we have had in Wellington so far. Atlas has a nice, relaxed setting, and we found the staff to be very welcoming and attentive.
M.
Had a lovely meal here, they made our dinner so special and the food was delicious!!

“A truly magnificent experience!”
Myself and my partner sat down for the tasting menu for her birthday and we were treated like royalty. From start to finish it was a ode to good customer service and quality of product. The servers were incredibly knowledgeable and clearly proud of everything they had to offer; which was a lot!
The food was impeccable in taste and appearance, very simple and subtle with bold flavours; it was a truly a magnificent experience! Each course of the tasting menu was fun and brilliant in its own way. Plenty of sea food which is perfect as welly starts to heat up in the summer.
I highly recommend atlas for any occasion, they won’t fail to make it special!
Hope to dine with you again soon folks! Keep doing what you’re doing it shows in every detail.
Sam and remie

If you dine at Atlas you will experience an amazing unique food fantasy. Every dish is a combination of many different ingredients cooked and served in an an extraordinary manner.
My steak, for example, was served rare despite having being slow cooked for sixteen hours! Can you imagine beetroot sorbet served with goat’s milk or whiskey truffle?
The mind boggles at how much time must be spent in food preparation. The “marinated” schnapper involves the fish being aged for three days before being diced and starting the marination process.
Quite simply, I cannot do justice to Atlas in describing their menu. Amazing! Outstanding!
And my bill at the end of the night was a real pleasant surprise being far less than what I expected it to be.
Bravo Atlas ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

From the first bite this was a taste sensation. With excellent recommendations from our waiter and the sommalier, our food and wine was cleverly matched. Newly opened, this restaurant is going to be difficult to get into once the word gets out there. One of the best meals I've savoured.
M.
We've been there on Friday night at the chef counter was really amazing! We could watch the chefs cooking and plating which is something that I love!
Food it's really tasty and well done made, the flavours on the dish are very interesting and surprising loved it!
The front of house made your dinner even better, really professionals people, Sam take care of us and he was very amazing, very interested of his job which is made your dinner even better. There is a large choices of wine with a very good sommelier so if you are a wine lover you should go there too.
I recommend that place with 300%
Congratulations to the all team :)

Simply put, I think this is among the best food I've ever eaten. Recently opened, Atlas has found a niche in the Wellington food scene and provides an experience that no one else is. The service is personal, knowledgeable and professional. The food is divine, well priced, and decent portions. But the clincher is the cellar selection - which is luxurious and extensive. The resident sommelier is very experienced and is a service you should definitely use to make the most of your dining experience. I'm looking forward to my next visit.
J.
Tasting menu. Some of the finest dining I have ever experienced. In the lap of the gods
K.
The food was divine!! The service, top notch. We have been trying all the restaurants in Welly that have made it to the top 100 in NZ and out of 11 so far, this has been our favourite 🤗. Every dish was spectacular and the wine list was extremely comprehensive to match the fussiest winy's taste. We started with wine at the side bar and then strolled to our table to enjoy a small feast. Our meal began with local breads followed by the seasonal veggies and snapper (must try) and then transitioned into the waygu beef complimented by a side of cheese gnudi. The flavours were meticulously chosen and sharing all the plates allowed us to design our own sort of degustation menu. For dessert we couldn't resist but try the black garlic passion fruit chocolate delicacy (possibly the best dessert in Welly). We will be going back as the menu is seasonal and sustainably sourced. Loved every second.
P.
Pretty good food, and some of it is excellent. Great service and an awesome sommelier
However , after paying $300 plus for dinner and drinks ( which was a fair price I would add), being asked to pay 2% extra for paying by card just felt like the owners were being really cheap. I don’t mind the extra $6 - it just takes the shine off things. Really guys, just add it into the price - who pays by cash or eftpos anyway?
As I said, felt like a cheap end to a nice night. Probably won’t go back
J.
Amazing. Delicious. Will return.
D.
We went to Atlas and were really impressed. Interesting meals, beautifully plated and great wait staff. Good for individual meals or sharing. Fine dining. Looking forward to next seasons menu.
K.
This was an outstanding experience! We had a group at the chefs table and got to enjoy the visual experience as well as the quality that came from the kitchen. I can't say I have experienced this level of attention to detail and overall experience before. Kudos atlas!
J.
Brilliant! Went by chance on a recommendation from a chef at another restaurant. Best meal in Wellington. One of the few places where the food actually exceeds expectations from the description. Excellent wine list (including premium craft beers on tap + large Coravin list) and knowledgable/helpful sommelier. Staff all fantastic. A restaurant not to be missed.
P.
Incredible dinner at Atlas with Jeremy running us through a phenomenal food and drink pairing. Every element was well curated.
G.
Excellent staff. Well trained and very friendly. Food was very good. After dinner coffee was very poor. Let the whole side down unfortunately. Shouldn't do it if can't be bothered getting it right or even close.
Prices are high for what you get but the excellent staff and service help to buffer that.
A.
