Reviews of Charley Noble
D.
The food and wait staff were great. Stand out dishes of the ones we tried were the grilled octopus, venison, and flounder. The tiramisu was also excellent. Their wood-fire adds an intense smokiness that you don't often get at other places. Wait staff were friendly and the kitchen was prompt in getting the dishes out despite a very full restaurant.

3.5 stars. Enjoyed our meal here for the most part. Ordered a second hot chocolate because the first was so good. Partner had the burger and it was very good but not any better than a very good $20 burger elsewhere. The gnocchi was delicious. However, one of the staff, well, stank. I noted it to another staff member who said he would tell the manager. The young and rank gentleman did not change his shirt at any point. If I had to pay full price (had a gift card; this is not our usual type of place), I would have been pretty disappointed. It's got a great look but, yeah, staff should be clean! Also, I always forget in fancy restaurants that even though they say tap water and sparkling water as if they're equal options, remember that sparkling water costs a fortune. Eleven bucks! Probably won't go back.

Second time dining here and another amazing experience. These are fine dining prices, with top notch ingredients, some of the finest steak I've had. Great service, excellent cocktail menu, great selection of New Zealand and imported wines.
J.
Nice looking, tidy place with well spaced out dining and friendly staff. I had the Wellington on a plate Pork Belly dish and it was cooked well, although it did take a while to come out. Portion size was also fairly small. Had to get a side dish. Pretty good though.
E.
Hosted a farewell lunch here for one of our Execs, hadn't been before so had some mixed feelings beforehand. However we had the most wonderful time, as we arrived the team made us feel welcomed, the set menu food was delicious and the service was top notch. May I just say there's something special about seeing and hearing the chef and his team hard at work. The whole restaurant team are so just fantastic, simply amazing 👌 thank you, thank you, thank you and we'll definitely be back 😊 Dinner next time 😀
D.
Great wine list, really good service. Love the offering of half bottles. Food was typical Charley Noble. Nothing's changed in 5 years. Only would say, seafood chowder could do with a touch more seafood and my steak was more medium when asked for med rare, I got the tomahawk so the fatty marbling made up for it.
Would still done again for the atmosphere

To me, there is just a normal restaurant but great food-good ambient. I had a great experience here for the first time. The food was so delicious and packed up with quality. The staff was well trained and full of knowledge about dishes.
I would definitely recommend this as The best restaurant in Wellington!
Cheers♥️
C.
It was just OK.
I went there for one of my birthday dinners in January. The food was good, although I found it to be typical winery/fine dining food. Don’t get me wrong, I love fine dining. There was just nothing special about the menu.
It’s super loud inside, and we had to wait 45mins for a table with no option to book.
I really wanted oysters as per the chalk board outside, but was told by the waiter they had sold out.
Pros:
- Awesome Service
- Great selection of drinks
If you’re looking to spend a fair chunk of money on dinner, I would recommend Logan Brown at that price point.
T.
Great spot, great service, nice drinks and delicious food!
J.
Wow. What an awesome place for some great food. Unfortunately they don’t take booking for less than 8 people so it’s a good idea to get in early or prepare to wait.
We order the grilled octopus and seafood chowder to start. The octopus was one of the most tender I’ve had and tastes deliciously charred, but the seafood chowder was a winner as it had so much depth and so full of flavour. We had the grilled cauliflower and the eye fillet for mains. Again, the cauliflower was sweet, nutty and well balanced, while the eye fillet was perfectly medium rare with a good crust. You get a choice of sauce and a range of mustard and condiments for free. The horseradish creme was exceptional. Overall, a great meal and top service.
R.
Second time dining here. Beautiful layout, decor and furnishings.
The staff are very attentive and polite. Josh is our favourite.
Spaghetti pasta was a little oily. It had lots of prawns and the serving size was optimal for a main. 7/10 for the pasta because it was a tad too oily.
Oysters were fresh and tasty.
D.
This is one of the not many places who can make my steak rare! Love their peppered sauce with it and all sorts of mustards they offer. If I order steak, i get a fillet. I have tried over cuts but fillet is my favorite. Had tried lamb. Also very good ! I recommend fish crockets for appetizers. Soo good ! I think I can eat a whole a lot of them. Oysters are nice. Tried pate. Little bit salty, but I actually like it that way. I have not noticed but other people asked me if i find it too salty. My fab side is green peas ! I have posted a pic with the fillet cut and side of peas next to it. I have not tried any desserts there . Usually I am too full by the time I finish the main.
A.
Charley Noble is an excellent dining experience. We ordered grilled flatbread to start and smoked fish croquettes. Delicious! The wood fired chicken was very tender and the medium-rare venison rump was excellent. We shared two side dishes to go with our main course (fries and mushrooms) and had no room for dessert! No bookings apart from groups of eight or more but the restaurant is always full, even on a weeknight. The tables in the middle get very noisy but the service is friendly and efficient.
R.
Charley Noble is exceptional, second time at this amazing restaurant while we holiday from the South Island.
My husband and I always enjoy our experience and the restaurants atmosphere is fun filled.
We always do sharing plates and their menu is top notch and the taste sensation unbelievable.
All of their staff and chefs are passionate about what they do and they provide an excellent service.
Cocktail absolutely fabulous.
My suggestion is to reserve a table because the restaurant is very popular even on a Monday night.
Keep doing what you're doing Charley Noble.
S.
Great location in the center of Wellington. Really good menu both for food and drinks. I had the fresh oysters with champagne vinaigrette, very delicious with the sirloin steak as a main, along with the peas and the potatoes. Perfectly cooked and all aspects a delight. Only slight improvements would be that they didn't have any grey goose or cranberry juice to make a Cosmopolitan and whilst the service was very good, in being super efficient (because they have to be to fit in 2 x sittings) I nearly had my dinner swept away mid-break. So the staff should be taught that if a diner's knife and fork are in a V-shape, they're not finished. Otherwise a 9/10
m.
We had an excellent meal there recently for a special family occasion. Food was excellent, great choices for all on the menu, service was excellent and loved the cocktails.
S.
We visited on a Friday evening without reservation. The restaurant was full and we have to wait for about 30’ at the bar until a table was available.
We had cocktails and some starters while waiting. Cocktails were good, bruschettas with bean and tomato were delicious as well as the fish croquettes. Tried also the burnt ora salmon which was good.
For mains we got the grilled octopus and the venison. We were not impressed by any of them. Especially the octopus was most probably boiled before grill and was chewy.
Service was slow but very kind, cheerful and helpful. Also they were kind enough to reduce the price of the octopus as we were not happy.
Wine list was good and available options nicely presented. Very helpful for someone who does not know the local wines.
Overall a decent urban restaurant in a contemporary setting with nice music and vibes.
Would we visit again? - Maybe
E.
Fantastic restaurant near the port of Wellington. Atmosphere was nice and service was perfect. Had a great meal. Although a little bit expensive, the freshness and tastiness makes up for it. Highly recommended if you have a little more to spend in this wonderful seaside city!
F.
Tried their oysters, smoked sardines, sourdough, flat bread, gnocchi, venison, beef cheeks, and chocolate mousse... Bloody great! We were seated at the bar and we could see all the chefs cooking and preparing the food, all the staff picking up orders and serving them, it was all so fascinating to watch the kitchen in action because they were all so good at and knew what they were doing. It was a pretty busy night. The restaurant was packed. Fantastic food and fantastic service!
S.
Amazing food, excellent service and wonderful experience. Group of 3 on a Monday night, and we had a drink at the bar while we waited for our table. Bar waitress allowed me to taste 3 different wines before I settled on my choice of red. Table service was attentive, constantly checking on us and topping up our water.
Food was excellent. Anything from the grill is good, although I was skeptical about the $32 burger. My scotch fillet was a great cut and cooked perfectly. Beef cheeks were wonderful with a sticky sauce. Portion sizes we're just right.
So full in the end that we couldn't order dessert. I'll definitely come back again. Reservations needed or come after 830pm. Mariela (?) our server was wonderful.
Y.
A popular place and full most of the time. The food is mostly good and service great. Since we went in a gp, we could only order from a set menu. The Seafood Chowder was quite tasty and substantial, and with the good sourdough bread provided, would, in itself, have made a meal enough for me! My mains for the set was beef fillet which was supposed to be done medium rare but was more medium actually. Salad and potato were served as sides to share. And for dessert I had nicely done and not overly soft poached pear which was served on a bed of dark chocolate with chocolate sauce. All in all, it was a good meal. Really appreciate the wait staff who were very good, perky, cheerful and helpful 😊 The menu also caters to vegetarians.
s.
Busy restaurant, either you have a reservation, or for walk-ins, it's easier off sitting at the raw bar - if you like people watching or chief watching here. Fresh ingredient they use to serve your food. Large open kitchen you can see where your food is made. Great presentation and good main and dessert menu. I like their nonalcoholic drink list, not just full of boring tap or bottled options. Kids friendly too with high chair available, which is always a plus.
J.
Excellent food and service. A great dining experience. We went as a family and shared starters. The kingfish with salsa verde and lamb ragout were very tasty. Mains were venison, duck breast and pork belly. All delicious- we decided the venison was the winner with the hint of smoky fire flavor. The panna cotta was light and palate-cleansing to finish. A magnificent food experience and happy team delivering great service. I highly recommend this restaurant.
江.
Really good food. Only downside will be it takes a while for the food to come because the size of the restaurant and it’s always busy.
S.
As always our favorite place. When ever we visit wellington we make sure we dine here. Very efficient service, make sure booking is essential during peak dinner hours. Quick service, some or the other staff will be having an eye contact for sure. That's great aspect of a great service.
I.
Very busy joint which coincidently was just 3 mins walk from our hotel. We booked dinner on the spot as we liked the dining space, crowd and energy. No “fixed menu” or extra charge, we were able to order anything we wanted for the night which is what I like.
We love sharing food to try more things so we asked for the pasta first then steak. The girl didn’t pick up the note during the order but later on she resolved the problem and got the kitchen to serve the pasta as entree first. That would make the experience better since we focus on one dish each. Also, our table was way too small and cramped for anything more than a dish.
The ribeye on the bone is amazing. It came medrare as requested. I’ve attached some pic for your viewing pleasure too. Possibly one of the better steak we had throughout the whole time in NZ.
I don’t know why they rank “so low” on TA, but they are definitely 5 star for me!!
J.
I like being inside this restaurant but mainly for a drink. Good staff and selection. For the restaurant I experienced a values- clash. Phones/screens at the table is not ok in my books. This place forces the diners to look at the menu on the website (and it's a few clicks to get to it) so I found this difficult. I feel there could be a better way to address concerns with wasted/covid etc. Generally good though. Bring back the pork scratchings!
S.
Really enjoyed our visit tonight. The staff were on point & super friendly, food was great ( can personally recommend the king fish streak and also wood fired pork belly), suspect this will become a common thing now we've found our new Wellington favourite
B.
I personally LOVED this place. Went there on a Friday night - they were very busy but we had excellent service from the moment we walked in the door. Hosts greeted us with big smiles right away and set us up at the bar while we waited for tables. Bartenders were very helpful and friendly assisting us with the drink menu and then we had the best steaks I’ve had in a long time. I can highly recommend the 200g fillet - especially if you like your meat more on the rare side.
Y.
Recommended by local friend. We ordered Clams Rissoto, Beef and Pork which all amazed us with its genuine and fresh ingredients, sauces and vegetables on top. Will definitely visit for another time 👍🏻
J.
Exquisite place down near waterfront. Expensive but still very well patronized. Noisy due to interior design layout. Food was excellent. No zero percent beer or wine available
F.
The food was awesome and the service as great. Only the portion sizes were soo big that there was no space for desert 😪.
M.
Was the last night of our honeymoon in Wellington and could not have had a better evening. Great food and excellent service. Loved the experience of dining at Charley Noble.
J.
So good! Food delicious. Very good service.
We had 4 mains, lamb and steak are very soft. 👍Burger is great, risotto is yum, too. Highly recommended. By the way, raw oyster is fresh, but not big enough. If you rarely try raw oyster, you could try it.
M.
Amazing twist to Mediterranean food made in a kiwi way. I loved the way every plate surprised my with its tasty flavour.
We had as entries: tuna pate, arancini and bruschetta. For main chicken pappardelle, salmon salads and a side of Brussels.
Good service too.
Fair prices for the tasty and overall experience.
The only one plate that was, in my opinion, overpriced were the Arancini; each was $7.5!
2nd time
We had fish and chips (4⭐️not too many chips), vegetable started (5 ⭐️), salmon ceviche(4,5⭐️) , side of mushroom (2⭐️) lacking flavour..
J.
Catered to the whole family, tasty cocktails and some of the best gnocchi I have had in ages. The kids loved having their own menu and the ice cream 🍦
S.
Celebrated my partners birthday here. Exceptional service from our waiter and great food!
J.
Had the woap burger, which was pretty average and not as good as their usual menu.
I.
Very atmospheric place.
High ceiling. Minimum decoration
Smiling staff.
Open kitchen makes some miracle for you!!!!
And really delicious food ( I had a chicken, and aranchini) I’ve enjoyed!!!!!👌👌👌
B.
Charley Noble is the best experience of dinning in Wellington with no doubt. Its a Vivacita ambiance, delicious food and outstanding service. The detail of the dishes were fabulous. If you are looking for an enjoyable time and food at its best... then charley will do it !
C.
Been here more than once because of the incredible dining experience. The staff are incredibly friendly, and can help you pair a wine with your meal magnificently.
Every meal is a special occasion here.
K.
I would come again! The cocktails were light and refreshing and the food was equally delicious. Started with Albacore Tuna Ceviche and Arancini, followed by Cauliflower Steak (HUGE!) and the Scottish Fillet. Paired with a recommended Rosé from the bar. All well done and some of the best food on our trip so far. Bonus points for picking a great Spotify playlist!
E.
We had the WOAP dinner tonight. Meat platter for two (×2). Loved the sausage, it was so tasty. The lamb skewers were also fantastic. The brisket was tender and the sauces were an apricot type and a BBQ type. If you want good meat go to Charley Noble even if you can't get there for WOAP. Their normal menu is also fabulous.
Magnificent main meals again.
P.
My partner organised my birthday in this restaurant, they had Great food and the service was wow, sooo good!
Definitely would recommend
W.
My hotel manager recommended this restaurant and we just popped by for dinner. Would highly recommend it. Great service, great food, ambience was really nice with an industrial feel because of the raw ceiling and decor.
W.
The manager is great because we can get us a table for 6 within 10 mins even it is a crowded night. The lamb I had is wonderful but the steak is average. Overall good is quiet good comparing to most restaurants in Wellington.
M.
The food was to die for and the quantity you get is worth it! I would love to go again
H.
I absolutely loved our dinning experience. The atmosphere, the service, and of course the food. 10/10
H.
Delicious food! Great ambience and location although gers very busy and can be quite loud
J.
Friendly staff. Good food at reasonable price. Staff friendly and attentive. Petit fours amazing
s.
Had the 3 important things you want with a dining out experience. The venue, service and of
course the food all A+. Was holidaying in Wellington around New yrs and this was #1.
N.
One of my favourite restaurants in the world. Been here many times and will keep coming back. Impeccable food and service.
Always an absolute pleasure to see Sean behind the bar who takes awesome care of us each and every time. Thanks Sean, we have always really appreciated your always kind hospitality :)
J.
Welly on a Plate burger, place was packed and very busy but service was great and food brought out quick considering. One of my favourite burgers for the festival this year too. Chicken skin crisps are genius!
j.
One of the highlights of our visit to Wellington. Never disappoints. Yummy food and great service.
C.
Super pricy, very slow service My food was really nice, but not everyone in my group liked their's.
R.
We had an excellent meal, great service. Really enjoyed the food. Thanks
H.
Food was okay but service wasn’t so good (hence 3 stars). Oyster wasn’t fresh at all. The mains were slightly better, although we had to wait an hour to get served.
A.
Really incredible food and I can't stress enough just how good the service is. You can absolutely tell they train their staff beautifully. It's a little on the expensive side, but for an undoubtedly great evening, I think it's worth it.
A.
Awesome food! I had the Tomahawk, and Truffle Gnocchi. Omg.. so amazing!!!
E.
Breakfast here was excellent. Very comfortable atmosphere, not as intimidating as it looks from the outside. Wonderful staff and some of the best seasoned food I've had. Can't fault it in any way; I will be back!
O.
Fantastic service, even better food. Surprisingly fairly priced for the quality and quantity of food.
T.
Great food and service! We loved the ceviche with candied chilies, bone-in Rib Eye, and the eggplant side. It was very busy with a 1.5 hour queue by the time we left at 7:30 but we got there early (5:30) and there were plenty of tables. Oh the desserts we perfection - strawberry rhubarb tart and the berry pavlova.
H.
Always have a fabulous dinner here, even if I pick the same dishes every time. Great, easy going atmosphere with professional, friendly service.
C.
Beautiful favours from an interesting menu.. wonderful service as well.. congratulations to all staff at charley noble ..
M.
I really wanted to give then more. The food is above average and the wait staff are very good,it is just the ambience. There was 4 of us at a fairly close range and it was very difficult to converse normally. The temperature was quite cold and really while the windows are great the cold blast through the single glazing was not good.
C.
When weighed up against the price, wasn’t worth it.
Good food, average customer service.
R.
Glorious lunch, stunned all members of the party. We had Swordfish with salsa Verde, roast cauliflower (not to be missed), and pasta and prawns. So delicious. We will definitely be back.
T.
I've always been a strong advocate for Charley Noble, as their food is great. Was recently let down by poor service and poor follow up from management, and have heard the same from others. Time for an evaluation of service standards please - the customer should come first.
C.
The steaks were delicious, our waiter was really friendly and nice, paid for our bill on our table and left the restaurant with positive thoughts. However, these thoughts were ruined when one of the worker at Charley Noble decided to chased us while we were leaving the building to confirm whether or not we had paid our bill. We think that this was unprofessional, rude, and quite insulting when clearly there were some communication errors from their behalf.
C.
Great place for dinner - had one of the best fish and chips I've ever had here and the seafood chowder was awesome - thoroughly recommended!
M.
Amazing Personalised service..
Total package is a truly Fabulous experience as per usual
Would never stay anywhere else in the Capital xxxx
E.
Excellent service! Great food! Very loud at peak times though, probably has something to do with the acoustics of the old building.
N.
Exceptional! I had an amazing steak and we sat at the kitchen bar and enjoyed watching the amazing team prepare the meals.
T.
Casual fine dining done well. Quality, friendly, relaxed service. Good bar. Excellent food. Solid coping either dietary needs.
Once has the greatest niçoise salad of my life here some years ago. Still looking to replicate that high.
P.
We arrived before 6pm on an already busy Saturday evening. We were told it would be 30-45mins wait for a table. It ended up being an hour and a half with a further 35min wait for our food. The staff were pleasant and the food was great. Not being able to book is a pain. Tables of 8+ are able to book and therein is the problem, the kitchen seemed focussed on getting their food out on time and simultaneously. Sorry, we heard such great things but we think the wait excessive and it's super noisy too. Redemption was the hot chocolate and house-made marshmellow - which was the best I've ever had.
D.
Fantastic steaks, great service! Want to go back any day
J.
Such a lovely restaurant. Definitely a go to if you're in Wellington. Have come from Auckland for a holiday and pleased we made it here for dinner. Hospitality and food absolutely amazing.
We didn't manage to get the waiter who served us in the beginning of the night but the gentlemen was so helpful, towards the end of the night we met William who was just as great.
10 out of 10, will be back when we visit Wellington again 😊
A.
Good food and great atmosphere, impressive drinks and wine list too
D.
Our waitress was friendly and accommodating. Her knowledge of wines was comprehensive of which they have a good variety. We had eye fillet steak which was done to perfection. Highly recommend.
Z.
Great atmosphere, Micheline star quality, brillint service, unique choices, standard Wellington prices, don't miss it when you are around. ;)
A.
M.
Had a lovely evening with my parents at Charley Noble while I was in Wellington. Relaxed atmosphere with very delicious food. A bit fancier than where they would usually go, but still a super welcoming atmosphere and fantastic wait staff. Very strange interaction when we went to pay the bill as Mum and I joked about who was going to pay the man serving us said he "didn't have time for this". Then seemed very put out that I asked to use paywave as it was a different eftpos terminal and was 4 steps walk to get it. It was such a shame that he was so rude as it ruined what had been a wonderful experience.
J.
Probably the best traditional steak in Wellington. Great staff and service.
I.
Friendly and professional service, amazing food, great wine list
J.
What amazing food! Had a steak and lamb shoulder and some sides and was amazed at the flavour everything had in it. The staff were all very friendly and the atmosphere was great and lively.
王.
Had the pot pie which was fantastic, the roast octopus was great too.
D.
Wonderful food and service on Saturday. BUT....we ordered the tuna pate starter, and then the waitress came back and asked would we like to order something to put the pate on!!! We chose crostini @ an additional $4.50. Surely that should have been included?!
P.
Dined here on 6th November and I have to say – Best steak I’ve ever had in my life. Also.. The staff were so friendly and attentive.
Very welcoming environment with entertaining kitchen seating, superb food and awesome drinks. The only downside – You guys probably put me off buying steak from anywhere else ever again.
We will be back to try the ribeye!
L.
Food was fantastic. Service really good. Wine lovely. Unfortunately felt at the end like they were trying to throw us out the door. Bill appeared on the table not sure how, then tried to clear glasses without seeing if we wanted more, then waitress waived mobile eftpos across the table, smiled and then walked away. Super rude. I know you're busy and people were waiting but that really ruined our experience.
J.
I would rate this a 3 half....good atmosphere nice staff food was ok.
C.
15 ladies with a set menu. Absolutely fabulous! The taste sensations kept our group quiet for a while!
S.
What an evening of highs and lows last Saturday celebrating my 40th birthday, the hospitality from the host was below average when we walked in being the first guest at 17:00, the food was spectacular from starters to desserts, unfortunately we were let down again by being over charged by almost $200 for meals we.did not have and the waitress did not even apologise when we raised the query.
I would like the restaurant management to contact myself, as we would want a good restaurant to ticks all boxes of satisfaction 😊
D.
Tuesday night and pumping! Long wait for a table but staff friendly and helpful. Delicious food arrived promptly and with flair. We had a great experience thanks!
J.
Always delish. Usually need to wait 20mins or so for a table though.
Y.
Awesome food.
Good place to go.
A.
Always consistently great food and the staff are very attentive and friendly. Have been many times from family birthdays to catch up with a friend. Great location to enjoy yourself
C.
Amazing steak and side dishes. Great service!
M.
Wow! What a delightful dining experience had. The girls who looked after our table oozed confidence, professionalism with a happy disposition. Compliments to the chef and their team, the food was excellent, the steaks were cooked to perfection. Will definitely visit again in the future! 10/10
R.
One of the best dining experiences iv had, the food was amazing and fresh, the staff were awesome and our waiter even gave us a complimentary glass of wine each as it was our first time trying oysters.
M.
Excellent food and outstanding service from the whole crew. Loved sitting up at the pass. Excellent experience. We'll be back sooner than last time. Thank you for a fab night out.
M.
Brilliant place to host a date night. Menu specifically catering for GF was an extra touch. Server was ultra professional and we will be back - Oysters and Pasta were delicious!!
H.
AMAZING!!. The most delicious and beautiful food.
Truly a dining experience i never wanted to end, great atmosphere and knowledgeable, friendly , attentive staff with a hawkish eye for detail.
Thank you Charley Noble for a great date night.
We will be back as soon as we can.
S.
Good food good service
I don't know why they give you the worst seat when you don't have a reservation (eventhough other seats don't get filled)
H.
Really nice ambience, great service. The risotto was superb. Steak was perhaps a bit under but good quality. Sides were varied and tasty but pumpkin was slightly over cooked. So four stars but could easily be more with slightly more attention to the finished product.
T.
Amazing food. Quite possibly the best pork belly I've ever had. Great ambience, and can see the kitchen at work. Very reasonably priced for the quality of food. Instantly one of my favourite spots in Wellington for a tasty meal and great wine.
A.
Ordered two steak, fries and roasted brussel sprout. The steak was cooked perfectly and the fries and brussel sprouts were perfectly flavoured and complimented the steak very well. The service was fantastic and they were very attentive. Would definitely visit again in the future.
P.
This was honestly the best dining experience I've ever had. Although busy for valentine's, Tobias treated us exceptionally well with specialized recommendations and a respect for our conversation, fantastic service. The food itself was divine.
R.
Fantastic service, great atmosphere, and excellent food with perfect portion sizes. They even have a separate extensive gluten free menu.
R.
Came here for my Christmas work-do and was very impressed! Charley Noble 100% lives up to its name and indeed was the best fish n chips I've ever had!! Also I tried oysters for the first time here and I loved them! Staff were all polite and very helpful, everyone does their job really well! (I use to be a waitress so I know what it's like) Spent over 2 hours here chatting with all my work colleagues, was lovely thank you Charley Noble :)

Absolutely recommend! Dined on a Friday evening. The 5-star rating is for the lamb back strap, which was absolutely exceptional. Also had wild venison, which was delicious and normally would have stood on its own, but next to the lamb it is seemed almost average. Full bar with wide selection of international wines and liquor. Ate raw clams for the first time, which were OK. Dessert was a little underwhelming. All their beef steaks are dry aged for a minimum of 21 days, we didn't eat one, but they looked and smelled marvelous. We will be returning soon to explore the menu further!
J.
Amazing food and service. Highly recommended.
I.
Lovely dinner sitting at the oyster bar. Pork belly was scrumptious! Also had burrata with flat bread and tiramisu for dessert. Well worth the price for the quality of food and generous portions.
J.
Went to Charley Noble today for the first time at lunch to try their WOAP Burger. It was amazing, the burger itself was exactly as described and the flavours worked together so well! 9/10! The service was also so top notch I will be visiting again very soon. We sat at the bar that looks at the kitchen and I would recommend it to any small parties dining there. It was so interesting watching how organized the chefs were and how good to knife skills of the prep chef were. Our waiter Will was also very attentive and personable. Enjoyed it very much and highly recommend.
A.
Scotch fillet: delicious
Rosemary potatoes: average. The coating was pretty tasty but some of the chunks of potato were pretty big and boring.
Roasted mushrooms: delicious
Asparagus: weirdly bland with an overpowering Parmesan crumb.
Tiramisu: highlight of the meal. The chocolate chips/chunks really make it. Maybe the portion doesn’t need to be quite so big?!
Overall: tasty food and an enjoyable evening but I’m currently rehydrating after a salt overload.
J.
Brilliant atmosphere! Great food, generous portions.
S.
Service and atmosphere is amazing. I had the best steak I've ever had (eye fillet) and a really nice bottle of rosé.
s.
Consistently good cuisine for breakfast lunch and dinner. The restaurant is light, airy and quiet in the morning- the perfect atmosphere for sampling the breakfast menu a particular favourite is the Japanese pancakes. The tea is also a good bet, coming in large china teapots. For dinner the steak is some of the best in town. The menu changes often so check the website for the latest offerings.
M.
friendly staff and great food, convenient location.
L.
Amazing food, impeccable service
C.
We had 2 bottles of Pinot Noir that were amazingly good, along with the Rib Eye and Pork Belly entrees. The food was outstanding, atmosphere was classy bit not stuffy, and the service was excellent. I'd highly recommend it for dinner.
W.
Was recommended this place very highly so visited Friday night. I have given them the benefit of the doubt and rated 3 stars as the service was great and it is a nice location but I really didn’t enjoy the food. I had the venison which had been rolled in soo much salt it was inedible and left majority on the plate. The “deer milk purée” was definitely not a star and tried to eat around it. Overall the group seemed to enjoy their food though so I didn’t raise it.
J.
Great food great service. Great drinks. Always to be expected. One of my favorite restaurants. Yes it's noisy but bustling. I'm not much of a steak fan, prefer venison usually. But this place the venison is good enough, but the steak is TO DIE FOR
S.
No bookings here for small groups but this is not a problem. Enjoying a couple of drinks and conversation with your party while waiting. The menu is good, I imagine updated regularly and they have awesome steak! A good selection of sides to accompany your steak.
B.
Great food and atmosphere. We had the special swordfish dish and pork belly. The pork serving was great and didn't need a side dish. The truffle Mac and cheese we ordered with the swordfish is highly recommended! Great service from staff and are all very attentive. No bookings but we were lucky to be seated quickly!
M.
The food was incredible and would highly recommend if you want to treat your taste buds! Service was slightly lacking - server seemed like she would rather be somewhere else which ruined the atmosphere a little, but other than that this was a great restaurant!
M.
Busy dining room, buzzing open kitchen, perky wait staff, background hip tunes grinding away. Culinary on point for all the dishes. Eclectic sardines in a can, light cornmeal white bait on a zucchini cake and we had beef cheeks so tender that you could use a straw to cut it. Chef has control and his groove on. Flexible wine list by the glass, 1/2 glass, 1/2 bottle or full. Best part was our server.
S.
Brilliant food, love this place. Only criticism was that our server couldn't provide any details on the tap beer options, specifically the source brewery for their options.
T.
Gorgeus food, beautiful, simple menu. I highly recommend mac & cheese and lamb shoulder from rotisserie.
B.
You get less food for your buck in this restaurant.
The quality of the food is very good but there are other comparable restaurants (in terms of the food quality), in a walking distance where you'll get more for your money.
An example, the steaks are great, with a price tag on the the list (when compared with other restaurants that offer the same product) but do not include any sides (just the source). This is just rude. Probably not the only example but if one search well, will find places where you eat more.
Staff is great.
C.
I have a natural tendency to rate restaurants down if they are in old concrete / stone buildings. The noise can be overwhelming.
In this case I have to put my prejudice aside and rate this a solid 5. The meal was superb.
We started with the chicken liver parfait. It was delicious. I then had the pork belly. I have never had a better pork belly anywhere. It was a generous portion and tasted beautiful. My wife had the whole sole and she rated it as excellent. We made a fatal mistake and ordered a side each. One would have been sufficient. The truffle fries were tasty but the duck fat cooked potatoes beat them hands down.
The dessert was lovely but quite frankly it was not needed we had already eaten our fill.
Highly recommended and we have found our new go to for special occasions place.
I almost forgot to mention the service. It was outstanding. The staff paid you just the right amount of attention. They were helpful and friendly.
G.
Excellent food, service in a full on atmosphere oysters & Scottish fillet in particular was outstanding & cooked perfectly to my request
H.
The fish croquettes were out of this world, the tuna pate also was delicious. For mains the fish and chips were great, the burger was good but not my favourite ever, and the tiramisu was definitely worth sharing (easily for 2). The margaritas also were banging 😂👍
L.
Amazing food, consistently good as I try to make my way through the menu 😊service is great, good atmosphere.
R.
Dined here twice and had a great experience both times. The staff were knowledgeable and friendly and had good recommendations for those who were a bit stuck on what to order. The food arrived quickly and tasted divine.
The restaurant gets very busy, so have a back up plan or be prepared to wait. They don't usually take bookings for groups smaller than 8 although our group of four were able to book a table for dinner on a Sunday.
R.
We went there because we liked the name, my brother’s name is Charles and he wanted to try this place. Great service, the waitresses were really kind and attentive to details. The food was good and nice choice of house cocktails
N.
Always good food and great service 👌
P.
Spectacular food, and warm friendly service.
S.
Had dinner there the other night. Food was 👌🏽 amazing!! The time it took for dishes to arrive at the table not the best quite slow. But that’s ok food made up for it.
G.
Always a decent meal. Good service with a good quick turnaround. Nice drinks list. Roast Cauliflower is a favourite, lamb shoulder is great and the steak is well cooked. Although popular we have always got a table without waiting.
K.
Charley Noble is definitely one of Wellington's treasures. Located right in the heart of the CBD across from the waterfront in an iconic historic building the food is always perfect. Good wine list and friendly staff. Poppy our attendant tonight was fantastic. Knowledgeable, helpful, friendly and engaging. Yet another fabulous dinner at CN.
J.
Very very good 5 stars! Food and service was fantastic and the atmosphere was buzzing- we had work do for 9 people and this place was packed. Highly recommend....
G.
Outstanding steak only as good as the last time there. Great service.
G.
The scotch fillet steak was delicious! I would definitely go back there for it. The chocolate mousse was ok but I like rich desserts so not my favourite.
B.
Tried their cocktails, Oysters, smoked fish cakes , WOAP burger + cocktail, Seafood Spaghetti, tiramisu and peppermint tea... every wee bit was well presented and delicious...
Service was impeccable and thanks to the lady who took care of our table.
M.
Very busy place which is always a good sign, especially given we visited on a Sunday evening which is not normally a popular time of the week.
The service here is excellent and there is a great selection of beers and wines.
I'm probably not their target market bein a vegetarian but was very happy with my choice of Risotto. It could probably benefit from a few more vegetarian options but I've come to expect that from most places.
Other members of the group that had fish dishes walked away very happy.
H.
Service was impeccable, despite the waiters being a bit hung over from NYE celebrations. Food was excellent. Wine and menu had a good selection to choose from. And the place was airy and nice and clean. Noise level was not too bad.
A.
Probably the best cooked steak I’ve had in a long time. Really lovely environment and fantastic staff. Highly recommend to all.
G.
Not a single thing we could fault! Amazing food, we had the salmon gravlax, fries with truffle aioli, mussels and steak. One of the best steaks we’ve had, cooked to perfection. Coffee and tiramisu afterwards was perfect to finish, the tiramisu is quite large so would recommend sharing! Overall my best birthday dinner and will be back to try the lamb and pork
S.
Every time is an awesome experience, food is excellent and service next to none. Would love the option to book but is not a deal breaker.
K.
Quite overpriced place for pretty regular food. I got duck breast which was good, my husband got steak which was pretty regular for $44. Our of 2 desserts one was too sweet and panna cotta was frozen and very sour. So, not planning to go back again. For average check of $100 pep person it just doesn't worth it. Not a greatest experience.
P.
Expected great things after 3 people recommended this place but this restaurant really failed to deliver. Will not recommend or go back after we had 3 different fails here. Ordered a bottle of wine based on expected mains (waiter only advised oysters were unavailable) and then on ordering they advised that both of our options were not available. To add insult to the whole thing the entree order was then missed. Advised the cashier on leaving but didn't seem to interested. There are many better options in Wellington so I suggest people go there as these guys don't seem to care.
A.
Nice food. Service exceptional. From the bar, runners, waitperson, MD everyone incredible xxx
S.
We had the pleasure of dining here in July 2015. The food was absolutely beautiful...Faultless.
But the thing that stood out for us mostly, was the outstanding service & attention given by the wait staff. I observed them throughout the night & was most impressed with their attention to their tables & the way they worked the busy room was to be applauded. The maître d' & her team were the champions of this gorgeous restaurant for us. Highly recommend a visit & look forward to our next meal at Charley Noble.
L.
Excellent, truly excellent. We’ve been to the restaurant and loved it and now just tried their delivery service during level 3 Covid lockdown. The food remained at a high quality and exquisite taste. Venison ragout, mixed seafood spaghetti and a whole free range corn feed chicken. Beauuuutiful
S.
The best steak I’ve had in Wellington!
S.
Service was great, but tables are very close together so there were accidents where staff bumped one another and dropped glassware or cutlery. The menu is lovely, the beef cheeks and pork belly are worth a try, but duck breast was lackluster. I feel Charley Noble have lost their high end dining edge and are leaning on their name rather than the dining experience
B.
Great food but quite busy at peak times
f.
this is my favourite vegan restaurant! 💚🐷
P.
Good service is hard to find in Wellington. Our waitress Evie was amazing! Super lovely girl who impressed us all thoroughly.
A.
Great food, good atmosphere, attentive staff. It's always busy, waits for a table (even mid-week) can be upwards of 25 minutes.
The kitchen forgot our starters on our last visit, but without asking for an update, the staff apologized and gave us the starters for free so I can't ask fairer than that.
C.
Top quality food. Would have happily eat the meal all over again. Was so good. Busy so recommend reservations however we managed to get a walk in.
Will happily go back again.
G.
Very good food and service. Coffee again not much good. Didn't bother drinking it. Shame. Still good value all considered. NZ hospitality don't seem to care about the standard of the last thing you consume at their venue.
J.
This place seems to be positioned as higher-end, but our experience was mediocre. Service friendly, but way too hectic for a late Sunday dinner. Food ok, but nothing special. Refuse to cook lamb & venison to order, which is just arrogance. Had sold out of half a dozen dishes. Nudging you to tip at the end.
B.
This is a lovely, decadent place with plenty of options for vegans and vegetarians. I loved the cauliflower steak...which might sound strange or underwhelming, but it was the most delicious meal I've eaten out in a long time. What a treat!
R.
Beautiful meals. Busy Tuesday night, so waited about an hour for a table. Enjoyed a couple of drinks while waiting. Lovely staff and they looked to have everything under control. Would definitely recommend :)
B.
This was date night that I have been looking forward to for ages. And it totally lived up to expectation, the staff where busy but lovely, friendly and knew the menu, the patrons all seemed to enjoy their meals. I'd love to come back - Best fish pie I have EVER eaten
A.
A busy and bustling central Wellington restaurant that is top notch. This is a very popular place for a reason - the food and service are fantastic with a good drinks list. It will be busy so be prepared for that and it has enough on the menu to please everyone. Give it a try and I am sure it wont disappoint.
A.
Absolutely brilliant meal and exceptional service. Wait staff are so attentive and sweet, not to mention knowledgeable about the menu. The food was brilliant, from starter through to main. We had the artichoke cashew flatbread to begin with. I had the lemon sole for main which melted in my mouth and my mister had the beef cheeks and he was delighted. Both were huge portions and well worth the money ($28 & 35 respectively). Best polenta chips I’ve ever had and broccoli was so good! All in all, couldn’t fault a thing. Thanks @charley noble!
d.
Too smokey from grill, absolutely stank when I got back to hotel. Couldn't hear colleague's at table for 6 and food was ordinary
D.
Overall great food in terms of quality and presentation. Reason for loosing 2 stars is waiting time. In at 5pm, no other customers, expectation was getting good within 30 minutes, we selected this time as we had kids with us and knew the place would be busy from 6PM onwards. Kids fish 'n chips came after 20 minutes, good. Our food after staggering 55 minutes. Kids were unsettled by that time, I could not enjoy my food. I had to leave and repark the car as you can only park for two hours, came back to join the others for dessert.
Similar thing happened before when there for business lunch, we all had to cancel later meetings.
A.
The highlight of our night was our wonderful waiter Jordan (I think this was his name). He was very knowledgeable, friendly and attentive. I had ordered the Ravioli which was a bit underwhelming but others in our group loved their main. We felt you should be offered both still and sparkling water rather than just sparkling.
J.
Stopped here for a cocktail, amazingly made and designed by josh ho, super lovely, amazing with the caramel popcorn on the side. Will be back soon
H.
Good food. Great atmosphere.
M.
This is my best experience ever at a Wellington restaurant, its incredible and I highly recommend. Sit up at the pass if you can. The best hospitality ever
D.
This place was great. I was just a solo walk in, and thought I was early but it was humming at 6pm however was seated immediately. As gluten intolerant asked for the GF menu and was so impressed, the choice was as large as the 'real' menu. Service was quick, efficient, food was great (and good GF pasta is hard to do), wine was very good and the pannacotta was delicious. The staff were attentive without being in your face. Cant wait to go back to Wellington just to eat there again
M.
Steadily popular right on trend and has become a first booking call spot for everybody. A little jammed in the high roofed box of the main dining space. Plenty of light. Open kitchen area. Staff with practiced casualness. I've never been delighted by the food but it's perfectly serviceable while you chat amidst the hubbub.
M.
For a classy place to eat dinner this is it. Very popular the restaurant has a great atmosphere. The food is of a very high standard. We had one of the pasta dishes and a burger. Presented very nicely and was very tasty. The inside of the restaurant is done out really nicely in a lovely old building
E.
Good steak of course, it’s just tables setting are too tight for this level of restaurant that I have to endure waitress and waiters’ hip across my table five times at least... with such a small table I feel so uncomfortable..
J.
Good food well presented. I took my parents (nearing their 80s), and they all find something to enjoy from the menu.
It can be a bit noisy in the cavernous space, but the food and attentive staff made up for it.
B.
Very nice food and a bustling vibe. Pork belly looked amazing (I had duck though and that was tasty). Only problem is the noise - lots of hard surfaces and open plan layout means there is no sound dampening. It's difficult to have a group conversation just on a table of four, and even though the food is good your dinner companions probably won't want it sprayed all over them as you yell to repeat yourself for the umpteenth time.
I.
Fantastic service and food. Couldn't fault Chicken pie.
Print on brown menu hard to read in alcove.
V.
Great food and staff is really onto it. You'll be served quickly enough even when they're at their busiest.
s.
Good food, good service, good atmosphere, would eat here again
S.
Wonderful restaurant! My family recommended this place and it didn't disappoint. Really high quality food, and friendly service. Be prepared for a bit of a wait at peak times.
A.
Awesome restaurant. I've been to Charly's a bunch of times and always had a great meal. Great burgers, steak, pot pie and truffle fries are a must! If you can get one, try the whitebait sandwich. Sounds strange but it's really good!! Caramel popcorn is also on the must try list!!
A.
Delicious grill options with wonderful sides and tasty sauces. Good gluten free options and good wine selection. Good atmosphere,.
C.
The best pork belly ever!!! The service is exceptional. Friendly and attentive staff. We love coming here. You know its good with how busy it is. Good food, good people, wonderful dining experince😊
A.
LOVED the menu, especially the raw bar. Outstanding wood-fire steak and seafood, ridiculously fresh produce and gorgeous flavours, brilliant beverage list, and wonderful service made for a really memorable first visit. The only negative - and it's a big one: the huge dining room is so packed with tables, the noise level is extremely challenging. This is not somewhere you would choose if you want to celebrate a special occasion or have a civilised conversation, which is really disappointing given the menu and price point. We also had to complete with a nearby table of rather intoxicated adults all shouting at each other to be heard, and a loud Canadian woman with a voice like a chainsaw. Not the restaurant's fault but some soft surfaces/furnishings to absorb the noise would go a long way. Otherwise we would have given CN 5 stars.
M.
Excellent food and good service. Asked for a wine to accompany the meal and they choose something perfect (and not overly expensive thankfully). Looking forward to coming back.
J.
Always love the food and their awesome service!! My steak was cooked to well today and the manager took the matter really professionally yet kindly. Their food is mostly very satisfying but their service never failed. Thanks!
G.
Superb tasting food, but oh the wait between your order and receiving and a tad over priced for the serving sizes. However, the staff are friendly and at your service. Tables are a little close together making it difficult for the staff and other customers to make their way through.
F.
Charley Nobel is a hard place to get a table I've found since they don't take books for groups under 8. But for Sunday dinner the two of us were seated straight away luckily. When I do dine here, it's hard to go past the Charley Nobel burger, one of the best burgers in Wellington I'd say. Staff a friendly and attentive here, atompshere and decor are cool, warm dim lighting with big windows in an industrial style. Also great desserts always have to partake.
J.
If you are in Wellington and looking for an upmarket, casual establishment to start a great night out, look no further. This a easy going atmosphere, excellent staff and some tasty dishes, Charley Noble is a must dine. Once you enter the building take the first door on the left and wait to be seated. Usually a fairly busy place but well worth the wait. If you are in Wellington, put it on the list.
T.
Greta for, service needs work. Charley Noble had absolutely delicious dishes for dinner, we scraped the plates clean. The service is a little unusual though, they were clearly put out that one of our group cancelled, staff were slow to take our orders, and we distinctly got the feeling that the staff were hovering trying to get us to leave after finishing dinner, this was despite the fact that we had been waiting for them all evening and at that time were actually waiting for our cocktails to be served, for 20 minutes.
T.
Awesome food, service was impeccable. Brought me samples of wine to taste to help choose the right wine for my course. And the most amazing spiced espresso cocktail. That alone is worth the visit.
G.
We lucked out and were able to walk in on a Friday. We had a great experience with exceptional service, delicious food and drinks. A wide variety on the menu and a big open buzzing atmosphere.
J.
Staff are very polite and friendly.
They are also very accommodating.
Food is absolutely beautiful and scrumptious.
Highly recommended but suggest you book first.
N.
Really nice. Great food, great service. Not cheap, but worth a treat.
C.
Very contemporary decorations, open kitchen that everyone sitting inside the restaurant can have a good view of. Bar counter is near to the door, and there are high tables for people that just want a drink. Food is good.
A.
Was a normal expensive food. But the nightmare was the smoked sardines came to my table inside the can ( you can buy this sardines in supermarket, I know becouse I buy it ). When I ordered that, I was thinking it was a homemade food... I never ll comeback in this restaurant. Shame!
J.
Good food with friendly service. Would definiatly recommend for a nice breakfast or afternoon lunch.
M.
Fantastic place for dinner or lunch. You can't book ahead for groups smaller than 8 but pull up at the bar for a drink and its worth the wait. Chili prawn pasta is amazing!
C.
We had the brushetta, seafood chowder, grilled octopuss and cheesecake. All were faultless! Seafood chowder was the best I ever had and the brushetta was amazing! The customer service was also flawless, I've never been treated so well. Thank you :)
D.
Fantastic food, staff and service!
G.
Always busy due to great food and service. There are a lot of tables packed into a small area but it's not too noisy for conversation. Today's visit was to sample this year's competition burger and that proved to be just the style that I was looking for

(01/2018)
This is one of the best fine dining restaurants in Wellington and also a good place to test your patience once in a while.
Being located on Jervois Quay, it is easily accessible from CBD.
The ambience is amazing and you feel immersed into that as soon as you enter into the restaurant. It has a big open kitchen and you can enjoy watching the preparations while waiting for your order.
The food is delicious, presented well and freshly prepared. You can feel the diffusing taste of the ingredients and the spices when savouring. There is good amount of vegan and vegetarian meal options available in entrée as well as main course.
Table service. Staff is friendly, helpful and very pleasant. Service is cordial, efficient and amiable.
There is a beautiful bar at the entrance which also serves as the waiting area. Reservations in the evening are accepted for a group of three or more. So if you are less than three, chances are that you may end up waiting for about an hour or more during evening which are busy most of the times. Reservations can be made online and recommended.
Normally busy during peak hours.
High chairs are available on request. No outdoor seating is available. This place is open till late night.
Good place for groups, celebrations, kids and families.
There is no dedicated parking available for this restaurant although ample street parking can be found around the entrance.
C.
Open for lunch and dinner. Good range of choices in the menu. Staff are knowledgeable and friendly. Gets full during peak hours so it can be a bit slow, but you get fresh quality food, so grab a drink and enjoy the atmosphere.
i.
Would recommend . Had a great time .great food along with great service. Definitely would go back again
G.
Good service and friendly staff who make you feel like your eating at home. Suburb food and wine selection
J.
The food was phenomenal. Always super busy as I can see why.
E.
Excellent food, best lamb and duck I have ever had. Amazing service and straight to seated so we could watch the kitchen which was a great experience. Truly delicious.
A.
Very pleasant evening. Excellent staff, great food. Looking forward to our next visit.
D.
The food here was very good. The service was good, but we did end up waiting longer than we would have expected throughout the evening - even when they weren't that busy. That said, we had a great night.
W.
Always good food and service from the team. See ya next time. 😉
J.
Don't know, the place doesn't take bookings under 8 people which is ridiculous, it was chocka and couldn't be bothered waiting 1.5 hours for a table so went elsewhere
D.
Fabulous place amazing atmosphere. We go here everytime we are in Wellington.
J.
This place has some of the best food in Wellington. Go on a weekday or expect to have a drink at the bar while you wait. Alternately, ask if there are seats at the raw bar - usually it is free and you can chat with the chef and watch them prepare some of the delish plates they offer.
Not super cheep, but great value for excellent food!
R.
The food was amazing. It was a Sunday night and i think the staff were not that happy with us as we arrived just after 8.15 and the place was starting to empty out. Overall the food was wonderful which is all that counts
J.
Used to be top 3 restaurants in Wellington. Quality has dropped along with attention to detail. Fish was dry and service stuffed up the order.
L.
Everything was good, except the rare steak I ordered came out medium. When I told the waitress she apologized but didn't offer to replace it, or offer to take money off the price. Pretty disappointing from such a highly renowned restaurant. I would go again, but I wouldn't pay that much for a steak not cooked how I ordered it.
C.
Can’t fault this place. Food was amazing, beef cheeks and truffle fries are a must. Service was great, it was a busy Monday evening and the staff were attentive and lovely. Would definitely visit again.
M.
Unreal. Food is just stunning, delicious wines. Lovely staff. Probably my favorite restaurant hands down.
M.
One of the nicest dinners we've had. Busy with WOW diners but the service was amazing. No delay with food despite the number of people there. We have returned several times since
R.
Mate, amazing meal, drink and atmosphere. The steak was cooked to perfection and easily came apart with my knife. Loved it, and will be back next time I'm in the area.
F.
Maybe is just the ambient, food is ok only, just order the steak. The steak is very good quality and portion is huge. Staff is well trained and helpful even they are extremely busy. 1 star is for the staff, if not 3 star the most.
J.
Delicious food with a good vegetarian option. Pleasant ambience though a little on the noisy side. The very professional wait staff were friendly and helpful.
N.
This restaurant is excellent – after going a few times, I have realised how much of a pleasure it is to go to this restaurant. We sat up at the Kitchen seats overlooking the kitchen and it was a true experience seeing professional chefs in action – the staff are friendly, the chefs happy to explain their methods as they work, and it is more than just a place to eat – it is an experience along with a meal. The staff are not perfect, but when there was a mistake, the staff member immediately owned up to it, apologised and did everything in his power to redeem himself (which was totally not necessary), but one feels as if they are a valued customer in Charley Noble’s. I would recommend any anybody and everybody – give Charley Noble’s a try: you will be amazed by the experience.
G.
First time there. Great spot
B.
Great food. Great atmosphere. Fantastic staff who just so helpful.
C.
The food and service at Charley Noble is without fault. Tasty and delicious steaks, pork belly. Portions need sides to round the dishes off. Would happily return and enjoy the good food, wine and service.
L.
Lovely atmosphere, busy but not too loud. Food was amazing
O.
Best place in Wellington. Food was amazing, service was terrific. I recommend the lamb shoulder. Sit near the kitchen if you can, it’s great to watch the chefs preparing all the meals.
H.
Fresh ingredients and good size portions.
J.
Good food and a very respectable wine list, but Charley Noble just doesn't quite get it right. The staff struggle to keep the place running smoothly with customers commonly complaining about waits of over 45 minutes at an expensive bar with unconcerned waiters. Delicious food, but the high price definitely changes your gastrophysics so as to struggle to enjoy it.
V.
Absolutely exquisite, from the staff to the amazing culinary experience you will have at Charlie nobles.
One of wellingtons best kept secrets. When you feel like spoiling yourself or someone special this is the place to go.
I already want to go back.
J.
Dinner last night: CN has great atmosphere and reasonably priced meals and drinks for a restaurant of this high caliber. Tip as it’s a walk in try 7.30-8.00pm as it appears the peak has gone. Wait staff very attentive
D.
Very nice place, with great food and excellent service. The only downside, is the poor acoustics of the place which makes it very hard to hear and/or talk without almost shouting at each other.
S.
Fabous food, attentive yet unobtrusive wait staff. My favourite eatery in Wellington. Unless you're early, expect to wait a while at the bar, but the drinks are good too so not a problem!
L.
Fun night with uber tasty food. A busy Sunday night with attentive staff and did not have to wait too long for our dishes. Quite reasonable servings for our islander appetites.
L.
Veey expensive but lovely food.
W.
It's a nice place for the dinner and also the service is good.
Probably I have expected more from the chef side but the taste is not upto my expectations.
But love the servicing and location.
J.
Service varies. One of the girls is super friendly and helpful, been other times and been pretty much ignored (the time i got good service the place was completely packed with people waiting). Food is good but the chocolate surprise at the Wellington on a plate 2016 was too rich and rather boring.
L.
Brilliant food and staff!
A.
Taste was good.
Service was great.
wait time was long.
ambience, nice interior but not much customer space.
prices are higher compared to similar food else where.
S.
Good food but pretty slow service. We waited an hour to order (one of our party was about 20mins late) and then didn’t eat for another hour, ended up taking nearly 3hrs from start to finish.
M.
Great food, atmosphere, staff and building.
K.
Do not go to Wellington and not eat here! I would happily eat anything they served me off their tasty menu! Equally as impressive is the service, lovely, attentive & informative wait staff. I had a dinner and breakfast here and am a huge fan!
K.
Great food, service and atmosphere. Highly recommend
R.
Beautiful food and service. Freshly made juices was surprisingly good.
H.
Excellent food... very packed everytime we go. The downside of that is it gets noisy!
Z.
Charley Noble is one of my favorite restaurants in Wellington. All their steaks are great. The lamb is definitely worth it. And to start I always get the arancini.
W.
We enjoyed the dinner and service very much. My steak was cooked perfect and my wife loved the baked cauliflower
Great 6th anniversary for becoming a Kiwi. Thanks guys
G.
Great night, thanks for the complete experience!
Amazed at how professionally run this place is. Congrats to the team. Excellent service and food at a reasonable cost. Great diverse wine selection too!
C.
Delicious food. A friend has just taken us for Christmas lunch and the food and service were outstanding. Thank You for a wonderful meal
K.
What an experience. Do it at least once. The food is excellent. The service is excellent. Be aware, though. The prices match the quality of the food and service.
S.
Good food and lots of variety on menu, big dining room, so service can feel a little impersonal, but it doesn't ruin the experience
S.
It is epic, a great vibe, from what I have explored in the city this is the place to dine-out in Wellington. Great service, innovative dishes, a great experience. I hope to return one day.
S.
Awesome dining experience sitting at high bar overlooking the kitchen. Food was fantastic
M.
Great food, wonderful service, and all around fantastic dinning experience. Went here for a special meal with the family, and we had an excellent time and a great meal.
P.
Stunning beef cheek and wine. It is easy to see why it was almost full on a weeknight. It was sad when it came to the end of my meal/experience. Thank you and can't wait to come back!
H.
Very good food and friendly, efficient service - but a bit too noisy for comfort at a busy lunchtime.
A.
What an experience 😋 Staff were so friendly and caring. Went out of there way to make our dinning experience extra special. The food was absolutely delicious. Thoroughly enjoyable experience.
S.
Great food, efficient service. Risotto was very salty though, tiramisu was huge! In general though very yummy
M.
Great meal, good fresh food. Traditional New Zealand food with a modern twist.
A tad expensive. You do need a reservation.
T.
Very popular Wellington restaurant which is always busy. It's large kitchen offers an excellent menu.
R.
I only sat at the bar with a friend for a chai lattee and some fries, but the place looked amazing and the athmosphere was really nice. It would be a great place to have a slightly more sophosticated dinner with friends or just going out for some drinks with friends!
L.
Great dinner place. Cool location excellent service but the food took the prize!
K.
Old school elegance, but the burger was not up to scratch - dry, and unbalanced. Truffle chips also indistinguishable from normal... Also, put some back rest cushions in the window seats, that window sill lip is extremely uncomfortable!
E.
Very good restaurant. Good wine menu, perfect service
S.
meals are great, can see why this is booked out most nights. The only issue is the parking. 2 hours on a Wednesday night $27 in the Wilson car park on queens wharf. not even 2% of cars in car park at the time.
C.
Currently our favorite place to dine. Never had a bad meal or bad experience with the staff. Only thing I wish they'd change is to allow bookings for less than four people during the week. Can be a bit of wait for a table, but that's expected somewhere so popular.
Q.
5 star for food, 4 star for atmosphere, 4 star for service
J.
Quick seating, quick and attentive service, generous portion sizing.
Well priced. Ticks all the boxes. Try it.
D.
Great place. Only thing is that the $15 desserts could be slightly bigger
P.
Not bad. Lovely staff. Menu should suit most palates.
K.
Fabulous dinner with our son-in-law that dines here every time he is in Wellington for business
S.
Service was great, but tables are very close together so there were accidents where staff bumped one another and dropped glassware or cutlery. The menu is lovely, the beef cheeks and pork belly are worth a try, but duck breast was …
A.
Beautiful food. Generous portions. Friendly and professional staff. All in a beautiful heritage building. One of Wellington's top restaurants. 5 stars.
V.
Great food and service. A great night out
A.
Great food, good atmosphere, attentive staff. It's always busy, waits for a table (even mid-week) can be upwards of 25 minutes. …
M.
Fantastic place for dinner or lunch. You can't book ahead for groups smaller than 8 but pull up at the bar for a drink and its worth the wait. Chili prawn pasta is amazing!
V.
Absolutely exquisite, from the staff to the amazing culinary experience you will have at Charlie nobles. …
D.
Very nice place, with great food and excellent service. The only downside, is the poor acoustics of the place which makes it very hard to hear and/or talk without almost shouting at each other.
S.
We had the pleasure of dining here in July 2015. The food was absolutely beautiful...Faultless.
But the thing that stood out for us mostly, was the outstanding service & …
T.
The food is mindblowing! The perfect place for a fancy dinner date. Though quite high, the prices are definitely reasonable for the amazing food!

B.
Amazing food and the best thing is their fantastic understanding of coeliac disease and proper gluten free options. Wonderful.
K.
A bit average for the price. Ordered the arancini balls for the entree which were disappointing. Found the mains average as well which is always made worse by the long wait for a table (no reservations).
G.
Best night out in a long time. Food was amazing. Service was second to none and the wine list was extremely comprehensive.
C.
Couldnt fault a thing, atmosphere, service, food, staff. If a night out is rare treat then one can guarantee it wont be wasted if going to Charley Nobles
T.
Outstanding food and service. Yet the best I've experienced in Wellington. You won't be disappointed. Kid friendly too!
T.
Great place for semi formal dining. Fantastic kids menu, good sized portions and accompanied with proper vege.
M.
A pumping venue with great staff. If travelling alone, grab a seat at the bar and chat with the staff. There is an extensive menu including local beers and wine. My go to venue when in Wellington
A.
Great food and service, I really enjoyed the lamb shoulder with polenta. We sat at the bench watching the kitchen work and it was great to see.
H.
We went out eating there not so long ago and the food was amazing. The only complaint was that my dad felt guilty for not finishing all the delicious food!
A.
Really good service. Really good food. Great atmosphere. Bit pricey though!
J.
Good food. Small flies hanging around the table however which was not great at all. Staff seemed to already know when i told them when exiting. Hmmmm.
I.
Eggs Benedict on cheese scone! Need I say more? The breakfast is actually very well priced and not too busy. So get in there!
v.

L.
Amazing food! Very happy vibrant restaurant, with helpful staff.
D.
Very very nice. The service and food are both excellent. But on the odd occasion, one of the two let's them down slightly.
J.
Burger $27 NZD was not bad, but fries were a little greasy. Love the ginger ale. Service was great!
L.
To begin with I thought the menu challenged my partner & I as to what we might like, but in the end we loved or choices, the service was seamless with my only regret being the fact I had lunch earlier in the day as I couldn't squeeze in dessert.
C.
