A cheap and cheerful Chinese restaurant. The owners may not have spent much time on interior decor, but it is clean, and the menu is great! We had the chicken, ginger and spring onion stirfry with the salt and pepper King Prawns. The dishes came out quickly and were very tasty. 👍👍

Got the KC tofu and minced pork. It was truly the best tofu I’ve ever had, and describing it in a review would be a waste. Just go and try it for yourself - the texture and the flavor will take you to a very happy place.

Doesn’t look like much from the outside but don’t let that fool you. Favourite place to go in Wellington, cheap, easy online system for takeaway, fully recommend. It’s pretty quick service so don’t be put off by the full restaurant when your in there people move through pretty quick 😊

Delicious, seriously. I had some trouble ordering, I guess because the lady was behind a large shield, so I was worried she got the order wrong. Happily everything turned out fine and the food was great! No wonder this place has such a strong history, and the price and portions, generous. A great find.

Huge menu and yummy food! Been craving for tofu far and finally found it in KC and it’s not disappointed! It was so soft, yummy, and sweet. The $15 roasted pork came in large portion and worth the money! Definitely will keep coming back to try all the food here!

Wish I could give 4.5 stars, only problem was the food was slightly overcooked. But I won't hold a grudge as they were very busy. Heaps of options to choose from. As in over 100!!! I don't know how they're able to make so many different things but it seems to work for them. Tasty food, would eat there again

One of my favourite restaurants in Wellington to visit for lunch or dinner. Huge portions, great variety of dishes to choose from, and everything I've tried so far has been delicious! This place is easy to just walk straight past when you're out looking for dinner, but it's absolutely worth a visit!

Definitely a must-try restaurant in Wellington!! I became a super fan of roasted DUCK when I had Peking duck in China and I found this place serves great taste of juicy duck with crispy skin!! We also ordered hit pot dishes which tasted amazing so that we finished them all. The service was average but dishes are really yummy and not too expensive.

Classic open all hours Chinese/Asian takeaway with a better standard of food and giant servings. Take your time to read the menu with 160 options there are treasures hidden in there. As the other reviews say, the steady stream of diners tells you it is worth a visit.

Probably the best won ton noodles in Wellington with won ton actually having shrimp in them and authentic chewy noodles. Could do with an updated decor and more room but still great food. [Update] 3 June 21. Noodles have changed to chewy wonton noodles which is good but the wontons are not so good now with more pork and less shrimp.

While it may not be the flashiest or most appealing restaurant, the food was absolutely sublime and delicious. And with about 160 items to choose from, you'll almost spend more time choosing what you want than waiting for your food to arrive. Would highly recommend.

Arrived at Wellington this PM and had no idea where to eat. So we asked our Hotel Front desk staffs for some advice. They told us that KC is a MUST DO place. We arrived on the street at 8 PM. By the way... FREE PARKING after 8 PM. Nice! We went into the restaurant and faced with literally more than 150+ items on the menu. AWESOME! Ordered some intestine, beef tendon and Yang Chow Friend Rice. They ALL TASTED FANTASTIC. This is definitely a MUST DO place in Wellington.

There is alot of people wait in a line. If you want to have right away, this isn't good place. You should wait until tables gone. And second thing is there is also a lot of menu!! Like a hundread!! I asked to staff about famous menu there, she couldn't recomanded.. If you are chiness, should be alright. Anyway food was good but i have no idea what do I want to try. Travelled to Wellington for a Xmas /New Year break from Melbourne Australia and stayed at Grand Mercure Hotel, tried every thing Wellington has to offer in Asian/Chinese food and KC is one of the best value for money There are 8 staff working in the kitchen and they are very efficient with their cooking and service, they are friendly and professional Foods were yummy, I had Roast Duck, Roast Pork on Rice serving with green veggie and wonton soup. they are delicious and so authentic Highly recommended to ant visitor want very good food and best value for money you spend at KC Cafe Andrew, Melbourne, Australia

The dry brisket noodles were underwhelming. The only thing that did not disappoint was the deep fried squid - would come back for that!

Have eaten at KC Cafe no less than 50 times over the past few years... Food: 5/5 These guys make incredible Chinese food and that is the reason I keep going back. Everything cooked on gas with the kitchen in full view. Forget everything else below if all you care about is great food! Menu: 4/5 Very extensive but is very challenging to navigate. Its surprising how few 'duds' I have come across, about the only thing I have not enjoyed are the noodles soups (don't use rice noodles). Service: 3/5 They can be slow to take orders and language is a challenge at times. Meals generally arrive quickly but the process isn't very personable. Dining in: 3/5 Most times a table is available however at peak times it can become very crowded. The cafe feels cluttered and its certainly dated but that is more of an observation than a criticism. What brings the rating down is that during the winter months the place is freezing cold. The doors are constantly open, there is not heating and it can be quite miserable if you don't get a table close to the kitchen. Overall, the food is incredible and that is what matters the most. However, the cafe is let down a little by the dine-in experience which could certainly see some improvements.

Always the same old same old: busy crowded but cheap. Service wasn't great and please don't microwave your rice on the next day. They will be solid as rocks. Strange the rice is very nice when served.

Very impressed with the value and quality of the food. Huge selection of tasty and wholesome food that is prepared quickly. If you choose to dine in they provide plenty of cutlery and share plates/bowls, the setting is noisy but that's to be expected with a busy kitchen so close. We had the Hainanese chicken rice and roast duck gai choy tofu soup, each a good portion size for a hungry person. Containers for leftovers are available for 50c. Some of the chicken and duck pieces did come with small bones so be aware of that.

K C Cafe is a very popular spot for eating in and takeaway.. My go to is the beef brisket on rice, it is a hit and miss as sometimes there is more ginger pieces than beef pieces. Other than that its a good place for dinner or lunch.

always enjoy the food here whether it’s dining in or takeout, it’s always top notch authentic chinese food. we dined in and ordered orange beef, ma po tofu and brisket beef (all came with a serving of rice). a go to favourite is the kc special tofu with pork mince (as shown in the containers), the tofu skin is fried perfectly and the inside is still delicate smooth tofu. all their meals are worth the price but during late dine outs it gets very cramped inside and tables are full

I love the food here. Best chinese takeaway at Courtenay Place. This place never disappoints. Got takeaway here: beef noodles, chashu pork on rice, fried udon. All were okay but nothing to write home about. Maybe it was an off night based on how many reviews are raving about the quality of the food but to us it was lacking in flavour (and seasoning!). I love this place. Seriously. It's like stepping off the street in wellington and walking into a budget restaurant in southeast asia. Vibrant, busy, fun, and best of all CHEAP. They claim to have the best roast duck in town but I'd say it's average compared to what you can easily find in Asian countries. Customer service means they can't hear or understand what I said, which is commonly known as Cantonese. Not cheap either, expect at least $15.
