Always wanted to come here, enjoyed the atmosphere and the service. Had my work last meal together before parting ways for the Xmas season... food we all had our own thoughts of the outcome and we ate and walked away with full bellies.

This place is a genuine GEM. I’ll talk about the menu is a sec but first, MATES, hold on to your britches..the coffee. The CAWFEEEE.. is made from crushed unicorns and dusted with disused angelwings. I ordered the cappuccino. I wasn’t expecting fabucinno but that’s what I got and it wasnt even my birthday. The foam on this dreamy cup was about a mile high of velvety goodness and underneath was no normal dirty bean juice.. no sir ..it was sheer bliss. I fizzed over it to the lovely wait staff and again when we left to the goddess of the espresso machine.. her eyes moist with a tear as I waxed on. I would drive over the hill on a stormy day just to have another. And I will. We will be back many times. It’s honestly the best coffee I’ve ever had. Anywhere in the world. And NZ is pretty high on the list of good coffee makers. But this is next level. The food was also splendid. Just like we might have at Seattle’s world famous Kates or Beths. My husband ordered the “beef up” which is a slice of toast topped with deeply flavored beef chilli, blanketed in just the right amount of cheese … just as god intended.. then bacon, sunny side up eggos, house made tomato salsa. He was chuffed with every bite. I chose simple waffles and bacon which is not a normal breakfast selection for me but they were awesome and crisp and their lovely deep pockets held the amber sweetness of maple syrup just beautifully The service was sunshine and genuine, the atmosphere relaxed and comfy. I just don’t have a bad word to say about this place. Thank you to the team @mamabrown_nz for restoring our faith that good food and good service at the same place at the same time is ALIVE AND WELL. keep on keeping on what you’re doing !!!!

Got there for the Wednesday buy 1 free 1 promotion. The waffle and chicken was absolutely out of this world. The sweet fluffy waffle combined with the also soft juicy and well seasoned chicken tenders. When you cut through the waffle and the chicken you couldn’t tell which one is what as both of them are soft and juicy. With the coleslaw and maple syrup the dish is a complete superstar.

It was good but everyone that worked there was super confused on the birthday special - I'm still confused, maybe it should be part of the recruitment and they must pass the birthday special question. But a great environment but prices are pretty up there - it's not a cheap place to go and $13 for a milkshake which is just a milkshake with a sprinkle of crushed kitkat on top - ummmmm ....

Americans have a love affair with a "greasy spoon". It is about the highest compliment you can give a restaurant. It really relates to good comfort food done well. While kiwis might not appreciate the apparent nod to untidiness, Mama Brown's is truly a treasure. We were there for breakfast. The staff was a delight. The menu was a bit limited. The Woife went with waffles and I had the Beef Up. We could not have been happier with our selections. As great as the food is, the coffee stole the show. I had a long black that was delicious. The Mrs. waxed on about her cappuccino and the care that went into making it. We are planning our next visit already

The food was okay loved the milkshake super good. Couldn’t finish it definitely worth the price. Ordered pork rib it was okay not much meat in the bone and also the chilli cheese fries? But the only thing was we had to ask for cutlery. We were given nothing. But overall it was okay probably because it was the busy hour. Keep up the good work!

This place is reliably tasty, American-inspired cuisine. Chicken and waffles, beef tacos, burgers, curly fries and milkshakes. They have an entire menu of options just for their delicious shakes! We love looking at their wall of old movie posters and adds from our cozy airplane booth seats!

The service and the milkshake was great. The wings were good as well but the rest of the food that we had were just average. We had the ribs and the Kentucky hot brown boy. The chips that were serve felt like it was either double fried or over fried. Cups that we got were not cleaned properly.

A family favourite place for us to eat. Portions are huge, you definitely won’t leave hungry. The most incredible ‘dirty milkshakes’. Between us we’ve tried every dish and drink. Staff are friendly and efficient. Food came out quickly. The only thing that could make it better would be an upgrade in the bathrooms.

Absolutely loved the interior of mama browns, this alone was an experience, the staff were super attentive and made sure we had all that we needed. I had the chicken and waffles and loved them although if I were to get them again, I would ask for the syrup on the side as it becomes slightly too sweet by the second waffle. If you like American Diner style food, you absolutely have to visit this place. It is a must. Check out my full review on Instagram at: @sammysshakesandburgersnz and follow if you like burgers and shakes! I have been here on numerous occasions and have been highly satisfied every time. Let’s start with the milkshakes. Huge variety of flavours. Consistency is perfect, but again I do request they make it thicker and they do that, and no extra charge which is great. I usually go for the kit Kat or snickers one, but had a vanilla one today. The classic vanilla, tastes better than so so so so many other milkshakes made by other bars/restaurants. Why can’t people get it right like Mama Brown? There’s none of this ‘milkshake, or pay extra for a thick shake nonsense.’ A milkshake is always supposed to be thick! Otherwise it’s just flavoured milk! Now let me warn you, most places make small shakes, and they are too thin and runny, so you drink them in like 3 seconds. The shakes here are huge, and because they are quite thick, they do fill you up. So make sure you either get it in a takeaway cup, and don’t under estimate how filling they can be. The burgers also taste great, of course. The fried chicken waffles is also a classic, and highly recommend it. If you haven’t tried it, you must. Chips are great too, they slightly over cook them so they are crispy, but I like it like that. Good seasoning too. The kids meals are also great, well priced and decent size. If you have young ones, save some money and get the kids meals for them and they should do the trick. We’ve always had great service there, but today we had exceptional service. 3 times we were asked if we needed a seat by 3 different waiters whilst we browsed the menu. I like that. Why? Because it tells me they are trained to not let anyone be unattended when they walk in. They didn’t know if we had been tended to already by other staff, but they didn’t risk it. As soon as thy saw us, they wanted to make sure we were ok. Good stuff team. Overall - fantastic place. Relaxed atmosphere and friendly staff. Heaps of great food options. Milkshakes are absolutely bang on point. Highly recommend.

Finally, I get to come and visit, glad I did. Very lovely experience, and great vibes all round I ordered - - Kitkat Milkshake - Cookie Monster Oreo - Big Papa Burger Everything was so lovely and so delicious , I love a little heat on the chicken . Tried the Giant Mac'n'Cheese Burger last night!! It was super HUGE and delicious! I shared with my mom but couldn't finish haha! The waitress who served us was very nice and smily making me feel welcomed🙂 Will go back and have 2 for 1 mains on another Wednesday😉

We had dinner here last night for my daughters birthday and it was such a lovely experience. Our waitress was training but was so welcoming and gave us such a warm feeling. She messed up one of our orders but was apologetic and replaced it within 5 mins. Everyone makes mistakes that's how we learn. My family enjoyed evey moment we where there and will definitely be back as it was amazing service and food 🙂

Been told good things for a while, and been meaning to go, however I was a little underwhelmed with the food, good, but nothing to write home about. We shared the top item on the menu, the ribs and chicken were Ace, as were the chips and the pulled pork burger, however the nachos were stone cold. We told the wait staff and again told the cashier, the only comment was 'oh, we'll let the kitchen know' when paying $44 for a main, that's just not good enough in my opinion. The salted caramel milkshake was off the charts though!!! Deffo be back for one of those.

Hi All I went to mama Browns today for lunch today had a bit of a long wait on the food which we were informed by the polite waiting staff after we got seated..... it was worth the wait the food was very good and is reasonably priced over all we had a very good experience in a very busy and no doubt pressurised restaurant and because of that experience I think it will be worth coming back for another meal.

I've given them a 3 stars just for the Milkshakes I've had from there which is delicious. The 2 stars they've lost due to a Cheeseburger I had from there yesterday which wasn't good at all!! The patty tasted weird and I had an upset stomach after this. Hope Mama brown doesn't repeat this.

Absolutely adore the staff here, they are so lovely! Kitkat milkshake was incredible but I had to wipe down our own table which wasnt ideal - a bit sticky! Floors were also quite dirty. Food was okay and came super quickly, large servings so keep that in mind when ordering! All in all still a great experience every time due to the staff and the milkshakes.

Very busy restaurant for Sunday lunch, we are glad to have made bookings prior. There are two high chair offered by the restaurant, one with tray table and one without. The place is not spacious, hard to park prams. Funky decor throughout with airplane seats. Their milk shakes are creative (Kit Kat and Oreo flavoured etc) and float can be made with wide ranging soda flavors, we had guava soda which was very nice. Meals taste average (we had buffalo wings and chicken and waffles), portion is large, price on the expensive end for what you get.

Would be 5 stars but my only complaint is if you are someone who struggles with mobility there is large step to get into the building. I have no mobility issues personally but the step is rather large and my friends and whanau with mobility issues wouldn't be able to get in. A great and extensive menu to choose from. There is even a separate menu for gourmet milkshakes. The espresso shake is a great cool alternative to a large latte. Ribs and buffalo wings are fantastic, so is the pulled pork burger. Nachos are hit or miss and the kids waffle, they love. The staff are amazing, helpful and effecient.

In auckland they always come with ice cream, cream, nutella or fruit etc. This was $10 for 1 waffle on a plate and some syrup lol 😒. The other kids meal we got for $10 was the chicken and chips and that had alot more to it. The rest of the food was yum though and we enjoyed it. I also loved the dirty shake it was delicious 😋. Very busy place, make sure to book in advance otherwise. This is my second time coming here and it was a much better experience. I got a chicken waffle which tasted great but it was a quite pricey. All there food has large portion sizes so I guess your getting your money's worth. I'm not a fan of the decor which is kind of got things going on everywhere and some tables have airplane seats. It kind of has like metro/subway feel. I personally dislike it, but I know some people love this.

We had our twin daughters'16th birthday dinner at Mama Browns and the food and most importantly the service was AMAZING!!! It was a large crowd yet the food came in a timely fashion and was yummy. The staff were lovely and accommodating from the minute we stepped in the door. I strongly recommend Mama Browns to anyone. Thanks guys you really made it a birthday to remember for both my daughters.

Very interesting place, casual dining experience if you get a booth seat you'll have the option to sit in old airplane seats 💺, the food is based off American diners but more of a New Zealand take on it, definitely not authentic American bbq, we had the ribs and wings and they aren't cooked the American way, their bbq sauce is far too bland to come close to a American taste, but I can see what they are trying for. The highlight seemed to be their drinks menu, beers which are locally brewed and eclectic flavors! And milk shakes! Definitely recommend the hot chips they were nice!! A narrow menu for Dairy free and Gluten Free dining, but definitely an experience if you are up for wings and ribs!

My friends and I decided to get a milkshake each as they received many rave reviews, and we ordered some food as well. The staff was friendly and welcoming and we sat at the couch area which was nice and comfy. The size of the milkshakes was massive which fit the pricing (ranging from around $10-$13) that we should've just ordered one and shared between us three people. They were pretty good, but a bit too sweet and rich for us. I did start feeling pretty sick - possibly from the coldness of the milkshake (the shake was pretty cold - maybe freezing cold), but I can only blame this cause on myself as from the reviews most people seemed fine. Overall my experience wasn't very good due to feeling sick; the milkshakes were nice (but too sweet for us) and the food was average.

Our table hadn't been booked, no high chair offered and took over 25min to take our order. We went early (5pm) and it wasn't a busy time, felt like we were just forgotten. The seats are quite far away from the table so it's harder to chat, and no room for pushchairs to be by the table comfortably. Also the Wednesday 2-1 deal wasnt honoured- he said we couldn't do it cause we got a burger (i assumed it counted as a main - it's not an entree, side or dessert...) 😭 but not family friendly and wouldn't go back based on this experience. My only criticism is that the cutlery and glasses are very often dirty, sometimes even with old food still on them. Don't let that deter you however as the rest of the aspects of this restaurant more than make up for it. I wanted to love this place, but I just can't. The staff are great, the atmosphere is nice, the menu seems good enough... But the food just lets it down. I've been twice now and I don't think I'd go back a third time. The chicken in the fried chicken sandwich was dry, the beef burger was fairly mediocre and the pulled pork just wasn't great. Nothing was awful, but the food is really meh. The Cajun fries are pretty good though, and the milkshakes are delicious although expensive. If you come here when they have specials on you can get a great deal. I definitely wouldn't pay the full prices for the food though- it just isn't good enough.

The food was on par with your local McDonald's. My southern fried chicken burger was an average burger, which you could probably find a better burger at Nandos or KFC. We only had an hour to eat before a show so we informed them of that - we were told 'not a problem' and it certainly wasn't. The food came fairly quickly after we ordered and was hot and cooked very well. We had the prawns to start and the flavour was great - a very different spicy take on a classic. I can recommend the BBQ pork ribs and I rate them as the tenderest that I have ever had - the meat fell off the bone and were succulent and tasty! A friend of mine had the southern fried buttermilk chicken - there was nothing left on the plate after he had finished. The restaurant is a casual fun affair and if you like the southern/mexican/texmex style of food then get involved with this place - I will most certainly be back

Good burger joint but agree with other reviews. House chicken burger was quite bland and alot of seasoning with small amounts of chicken. Chilli chips are great but got to say: GET RID OF THE CHEAP CONDIMENTS! got the tomato sauce every kiwi associates with cheap takeaways ( the gluey 'this isnt heinz ketchup, watties, or a homemade version but a cheap caterers version'). Please dont do that at a restaurant like this. Horrible. Aoli was the same! Glur that is watered down with gelatin? Gross. Lady on front was great and welcoming.
