Not a bad word to say, Monty is incredibly friendly and hospitable and welcomed our large group warmly. All staff here are amazing, the food is the best in Welly (Malai Kofta is unbeatable) and the atmosphere is really fun. Even caters well for vegan and other dietary requirements. Good flavours and portions, we ordered through delivereasy and the food arrived relatively cold and a bit later than the Eta, understandable for level 3. Texture of the curries a bit thick, and cheese in curries is a strange. Not traditional or that authentic.

Took them nearly 45 minutes to take our order, they assumed empty seats were people waiting but never bothered to check with us. Disappointed that corkage was $7, are you trying to encourage people to come? Food was lovely, if a little small. Glad rice was included in price otherwise $22 looks mean for the food served. Lovely atmosphere

Picked this place on the off chance. Really awesome curry. We had pretty mainstream stuff. Chicken tikka, lamb Korma, tarka Dahl. All were fabulous. Great for those new to curries too! Good value for a central city joint. Lovely staff too!! Recommended!

There are few restaurants that serves authentic Indian cuisine and this is one of them. If you are in Wellington definitely must try. Whenever out of India I rarely go to restaurants serving Indian cuisine but Masala Cafe and Bar really stood out in terms of flavours, ambience, service and chef who is always up for a good chat. Keep it up.

Decided to go to Masala for a takeaway. We had a drink at the bar while awaiting our order. Great service and it was a wow when we tasted the food. Pretty hard to beat and very comparable to Indian Affair, Taupo.

It's a nice place for a group but they got very inattentive fast. They brought out a dish which wasn't mine and when I questioned it, the response is "it's chicken so it's yours" and put it down in front of me. Luckily someone else came out and proceeded to take it away to get the original dish I ordered. The food was average unfortunately, hopefully a better luck next time...

Best service. Ankur the duty manager is so helpful and kind and gives the best customer service. We were on the trip from Auckland to Wellington and came to know about this Indian restaurant. Their food is delicious and the best customer service. Whenever I am in Wellington and whenever we wanna eat Indian food I will prefer this restaurant all the time. 👍👍👍👍

We had Masala this weekend for the first time in aaages . Since we moved to Wellington seven years ago Masala has always been our favourite indian restaurant in Wellington but we recently moved slightly out of CBD so heavenly gone there for a while. Paneer makhani was beautiful with smoky flavours . Tons of flavour just as I remembered it . Roti was delicious . We will be sure to be back again soon

I love this place. Food is good. Yes it’s a big restaurant but the reason I give it 5 stars is they will look after you like you’re family even though I visit only infrequently. And the environment is so relaxing. Always so much laughter by other patrons - so food for the soul too.

Only dish I have tried was good with enough quantity for one person in $13 only. Deducted one star only because I ordered spicy and they have used only red spices for that instead of chilies.

I wasn't a regular Indian cuisine visitor but from the recommendation from colleague of mine, loved the taste of every dish. Ordered lamb vindaloo spicy level at hot. The sensation i got after stressful day at work, was mind blowing. Every dish were freshly cooked and Nan were amazingly tasteful. I would strongly recommend Masala to anybody that would consider visiting Indian restaurant.

I been to Masala recently and the food was so yummy, service was fast and efficient. There was good vibe thought it was really busy night. We ordered Tandoori chicken and that came into a hot sizzler plate everyone was watching to the sizzler passing by. I chose this place coz it was highly recommended by my work mate. Excellent food, recommend. Servce was a bit patchy, had a long wait after being seated and ended up being served by 3 different waiters. This was a bit odd because they weren't busy. They were friendly and apologetic when this was pointed out. Food was top notch, the only thing i could say is a different sauce with the paneer entree such as tamarind would have been nice. This and the chicken starter came out with the exact same herb raita. Overall really enjoyed the experience, good value too. We'll be back.

. (05/2018) Located over Allen Street, this beautiful Indian restaurant is easy to notice from a moving vehicle in normal traffic. Convenient location and easily accessible. Well managed and nicely maintained. Spacious and comfortable seating. This restaurant offers a unique atmosphere with dim lightening and Bollywood posters of well-known movies with popular dialogues from them on display over the walls. Well timed service with smile. Polite and welcoming staff. Plentiful food options including many vegan and vegetarian ones. Food is served in good quantity and well presented. Table service. Offers takeaways. Outdoor seating is not available. Could not notice wheelchair accessible seating or high chair in plain view at this location. PayWave facility is available at this location. Good for groups, celebrations, family and kids. Reservation can be made in advance and is recommended for big groups. Good place for quick bite. There is no dedicated parking area available although ample street parking can be found around the entrance.

Awesome find!!! Masala is so far the best Indian place in Wellington. The dishes are full of flavours and yumminess. I will recommend to try the whole menu, there are few dishes which are fusion and very good to try. Naan breads are to die for.
