Two-story Vegan Restaurant with an outdoor area and a balcony with a view of Courtenay Place. Amazing, colorful food and friendly staff. If you get cold, they offer you a blanket to keep warm. I definitely recommend and will be coming back here.

🌿 Vegan AND women owned?? 🌿 At this stage, we probably don’t even need to specify that a new place is fully vegan or plant based. I can’t imagine any meat eaters not enjoying the mockingbird dinner Junk food restaurant serving “pub style” food I.e. burgers and chips, and teaches you something new about geography and international foods We had: 🍔 The Craic burger ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🍔 The Caribbean burger ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🍟 Enchilada loaded fries ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🍺 There’s also a cool selection of beer, but I have no idea 🥲 🧾To order you have to use their QR code, which is super convenient, but you can’t split the check and don’t get to talk to the staff about the food If I had to pick on one thing it’s that the burgers were tall and unruly, that always ends up in a mess. Though I do understand that it’s just a trend now 🤷‍♀️ 🌿 Any vegan establishment gets a 5 star from me, but I firmly believe that the Mockingbird is fairly competing with any other pub serving burgers and chips, vegan or not, keep it up 👍

Service was absolutely awesome, the cheesy garlic bread was divine and the burger was awesome unfortunately i didnt like the cheese however with the beer recommended for the burger its a perfect match! Definitely recommend making a reservation as i was a walk in and they just managed to squeeze me in and the entire time i was there the place was pumping and i can see why! 10/10 and to be honest i dont think i left a big enough tip

After a friendly greeting we got a table and liked the vibe. Didn't realise it specialises in vegan but even though I am most definitely not a vegan the Hawaiian burger was Delicious and friendly attentive service while following covid rules I can highly recommend. Oh and reasonable pricing too!

Whether it's a Friday night burger and beer or sunday brunch this resaurant / bar has you covered. The ambience and food are of a consistently good quality. This place has some really solid burger, power bowl, taco and loaded fries options, their brisket burger and their pandan toast are my personal favourites!

Very cosy and relaxing indoor and rooftop bar with restaurant in the city. Amazing vegan food, I ordered the Hula Hula burger twice in one long weekend, delish! With churros and a mocha for dessert, great food! Staff are really friendly and helpful but chill at the same time, playlist was great, mix of well known chill-hip tunes and plenty of low key ones too. Thoroughly enjoy my visit, definitely a solid choice for food and drinks 👌

One of the best full VEGAN restaurants in wellington CBD that I have come across. Everything here (including the condiments, cheese, dips etc) is vegan!! The flavours are amazing, the portion is decent and the vibe is real nice too. I highly recommend this!

Been there for the first time over the weekend and I really liked how they make vegan food taste exciting and show that there's more to plant based than just salads and wellness bowls. Service was OK and it was refreshing to see front of house staff with a bit of personality. Will definitely be back and eat my way through the menu. 5 stars - definitely worth a visit.

They'd run out of something that meant they couldn't make 50% of the burgers on the menu. Service was very slow- wait staff unattentive and food took over an hour to come. What we had was nice but expensive @$90 for 4 beers, 2 burgers and some chips.

Incredible vegan and vegetarian foods! Thought the chicken bites were so expensive (i think 13$ for 6 small strips???) But the breakfast burger was amazing (15$ i think 😭) and the loaded fries too.

Well this was a great little find! (Well not so little place....) if you're a plant based eater then put this place on your list. Split over two levels, including the nice upstairs rooftop dining/bar area. A delicious 100% plant based menu, food is well portioned, incredibly delicious and coupling it with a delicious array or beers, wines, spirits and non-alcoholic drinks. It's great to have an option for dinner that caters to plant based eating and so popular too! Staff are really friendly, super on the ball and very friendly. Also that wallpaper in the bathroom is super great!

Being a vegan, it is wonderful to be able to sit and order anything off the menu and also have it be hot and delicious. The outdoor atmosphere was also lovely. Suggested improvements would be slightly faster service (as we were waiting 45 minutes for a bowl of fries and another side) and perhaps a wider variety of music (though that may be personal taste).

Definitely not bad, just not great. The food was ok, but for a vegan place it could have been better. Compared with somewhere like Nolitas where I didn’t care if it was vegan or not it didn’t measure up. The food here just felt like it was missing something I couldn’t put my finger on. The fish and chips was definitely one of the better meals. But the crunch wrap was slightly underwhelming and the sauce that came with it wasn’t much better than cornflour mixed with water. Overall not a bad experience just not good enough to go back.

We were a little disappointed in the service, the place was really busy and they only seemed to have 3 staff on so we were waiting a long time to be served and a long time to get the food. Visited for the first time, and as a meat eater with lots of other dietary issues, I was weary. Before even greeting you, the guy behind the front bar barely looks up at you but tells you to sign in (covid requirements), which is fine but it was a cold welcome. The waitress we had was so friendly and lovely though, and the food was pretty good (I didn't rate the Facon/fake bacon, but the hash browns were delicious!) so I really enjoyed my time. They didn't rush us to leave when we finished food and was great at checking in for coffee/water top up.

I came in for breakfast and a coffee, the place is very welcoming and warm compared to the cold morning outside. The staff are very friendly but not overbearing. The coffee was delicious and a large was actually a large, not like some places where a large is a medium. The food was delicious as well and I thought prepared and displayed very nicely. The decor is bright and comfortable without being too peppy or in your face. The music is tasteful and matches the vibe of the place, I found myself searching for the names of the songs and downloading them. I liked the place so much I had to order another coffee. 5/5, I would go again!

This place surprised me greatly I didn't know that is a vegan restaurant and I'm not vegan, but the dishes was really delicious. We ordered cauliflower wings, definitely, my favourites, Frida burger and curly fries by side, amazing by the way and some chicken fried. All vegan and really tasty and you got me with Spanish sangria. Excellent service and attention so was a wonderful Sunday night.

This place always has a good selection of beers on tap, and the most amazing vegetarian food I have ever tasted. My wife also loves their sangria. The roof top bar is great on a nice day, but can get a bit chilly when the wind picks up. Overall A+ food, drinks and atmosphere.

I ordered the Misspent Youth, Mockingbird's vegan WOAP burger. As a non-vegetarian, I found this burger to be absolutely delicious - every part of it was great, with the tequila soaked pickles standing out as the star of the show. The beer battered chips accompaning the burger were also outstanding. Service-wise there was a small delay at the start, possibly due to being understaffed, however this was quickly rectified with an extremely quick turnaround for food and drinks. I would not hesitate to recommend Mockingbird (and especially this burger) to both vegetarians and omnivores alike.

Yay finally a completely vegetarian menu!! I was spoilt for choice . The charred seitan skewers were amazing , I feel that meat would be really good in a wrap or pita . Poached pear needs to come with a splash warning , pear still hard and trying to Cut through it with a tiny spoon resulted in me being covered in red wine sauce . The sauce was incredibly tangy and not good with marscapone . That one needs a rethink.. Also the whisky sour sangria was pretty gross , also needs a rethink , we described it as a mild disaster .

Really yummy food, and such a nice atmosphere with friendly staff. They have a range of about ten burgers which are SO GOOD, four types of fries including curly and kumara, plus healthier bowls and breakfast options. The smoothies are all plant based and my personal favourite is the chuck berry. I'm quickly becoming a regular!

Mockingbird is amazing. I've had three different burgers there now and they were all stellar. The Mockingburger is incredible! The loaded fries are also a must. Fantastic remake of what was Basque. Downstairs looks amazing now, and the food is really off the hook good. Its all vegetarian, so if you are used to meat, give it a go, as it is impossible to tell the difference between their faux meat and actual meat. I had the Fried "chicken", and cauliflower wings. The food was fantastic! Glad to see the rooftop was still the same, and in full swing when we visited on Saturday night just gone. Great atmosphere, didn't want to leave!

Tried it for the first time off uber eats, was so amazing we have just ordered it again after finishing our delish first round! We had the cheeseburger, buffalo cauli, popcorn tofu and the oreo dessert. Honestly unreal. A year later and we’re still dreaming about the Churros. If you’re not vegan and want to give plant-based meals a chance, this is the place to do it. You will not regret it. We saw a family walk out when they realized it was a plant based menu and we thought, “Noooo you don’t know the flavors you’re missing!!!” Bottomline, if you want incredible food in Wellington go here. You will not find any meat dish on the menu. Fries by themselves $9-$13 Chicken substitute ingredient 6 small strips &for the quality you get. Spaghetti meat balls (meat subsistute mixture dish in a bowl. Plant basef meat has to date come nowhere tasting like real meat.) So if your favourite burger is a tasty beef or chicken burger then this not the place for you. No traditional snacks small plates. Remember the Korean fried chicken is chicken subsistute.Great decore. A hot dish of multiple cooked vegetables not available. Like zams, pan fried zucinnis, baby beetroot, kumara (only fries), squash, cabbage, silver beet, baby spinach, or your favourite vegetable all with tasty sauces Inew renovated décor no dimmers for lighting. Roof top area for those that prefer during summer outside open air some covered participation.Hygiene certificate not displayed &practices not of a high standard. Seating & tables above average excellent although tables,chairs are & bit low for seating. Staff Dress standards provincial very casual & not in keeping with their theme & décor. Toilets excellent & clean although single door only to dining room instead of two, some tables very close to the toilets with the doors some times open when unused, only a meter& half approx from the kitchen with door open during busy periods. Not recommended to sit near the tables opposite toilets. Menu very limited with all vege choices. The menu in my opinion is dishonest. Nowhere, outside or inside the place,on the menu stating they are a vegetarian only restaurant. Mains selection of burgers 10 with the words meat Patty Vietnamese sliced beef. Fries in a basket with tomatoes sauce at the tables in non BPA Plastic old style red round squeeze bottles, some with cap missing & with blackened sauce on nozzle from age, being not clean. Hate to guess age off the contents accordingly. Air entering the containers without caps which is not desirable. Cheap salt and pepper shakers which is not in keeping with décor. extra sauces numerous to choose from compliments. A couple of choices for salad's not very imaginative. Presentation, well none on todays standards so do not expect fancy decorated meals, they are very basic. Photos on Website are deceiving which have bright lighting shining on them for the PHOTS. Chips often brownish if cooked in non new fat or oil. Burger buns can be slightly burnt, not like the photos on their website which are non sesame cookbuns. reasonable selection, salad's bowl&Mimosa [Three parts of your favourite sparkling white to one part of your favourite orange juice] good idea can be added as extras. Salads bowls by themselves can add a halloumi extra available Hash brown, expensive! Poached eggs is the only egg dish. Free range eggs used. Burgers patties are vegetarian meat substitute plant patties. Fries are extra $5. You will not find any meat dish on the menu. Chicken substitute,spaghetti mixture dish in a bowl. Deserts they advertise as tasty. Obviously they do not know what tasty creative deserts. They do not state the weight of the meat patty or whether the patty is pre frozen which people need to know if one has a health issue. They very boring unimaginative, basic Oreo biscuits from the packet cake, Donuts, apple crumble Pie and expensive for what they are. Basically a glorified licence expensive burger&Café bar. Fries by themselves $9-$13. Add ons $5 making them $20. No pepper grinder, ground black pepper.White pepper,garlic salt. If ordering the burgers ask for a side plate with cutlery if you do not like eating with your hands.Not open to late or after 10.30 PM most occasions. Craft beer on tap no bottle stubbies beers in down stairs restaurant. Very friendly staff and average service with excellent new décor. Date of visit: December 2019 Mockingbird WFPBF and Plant Based food only. Steep stair climb to roof top area.
