Fabulous experience. Oysters fresh. Service great. Very friendly staff. Heard so much about it. I doubt if you'll get fresher oysters, fish, and everything seafood, anywhere else. It's only 10 minutes south of Whakatane. Enjoy ☝

My husband was talking about stopping in for some Ohiwa oysters all the way from Auckland! It is such a lovely little spot to stop for a rest and some yummy food. Oysters, scallops and crunchy chips were on the menu for my husband, which he really enjoyed. There were many cars stopping on the day we visited, it is incredibly popular and there may be a wait for your meal if extra busy. Will definitely call in again!

My favorite fish and chip shop in NZ. I always make sure to visit whenever I'm in the area. Cute little side of the road setup. The chips and burgers are good quality and a decent price. The facilities (bathroom and tables) aren't the best, but you go for the food not for fine dining. The view of the estuary is nice and there are plenty of stingrays that swim up and down the water as well. Make sure you have sunblock and a hat on a sunny day as there is only one table under the tree. If you enjoy fish and chips and are in the area, this is a definite must visit.

While staying at Awakeri Hot Springs we have a ritual that treat ourselves to a feed of oysters,fish,chips etc at Ohiwa oyster farm takeaways! Love their yummy kai sit down by the water enjoy the view of the harbour! I like to grab their flavoured smoked mussels to take home! Great service with a smile, food always served so nice & hot good prices, we'll be back for our yearly treat this time next year! 😉👍 Back for our fish chips & oysters January 2021 while staying at Awakeri Hot Springs! Another delicious kai + smoked mussels to take away! Friendly efficient service as always served nice & hot! We ate down by the waters edge at the tables provided. Very popular spot to pop into if your'e heading to Opotiki or back to Ohope/Whakatane to get your fix of shark n tatties! 👍

The Ohiwa Oyster Farm is certainly a gem of a place, beautiful array of takeaway food with friendly staff. By the number of people that came and went while we ate our oyster and mussel lunch with a side order of chips, it speaks volumes about how good it is, see you again on our next visit, thanks for a wonderful meal.

Heard so many fabulous comments on how delicious the fish & chips were from here & told totally worth the drive for them..so I guess my expectations were already on high alert, hence my dissapointed in my first visit to Ohiwa oyster farm 😕 They probably had a busy day & that was why they had run out of mussels and all varieties of fish except for hoki(not a type I like). The fries/chips in my opinion needed more salt, perhaps we caught them on a bad day. On scenic side, view gorgeous & we even got to see a stingray swimming around. On second visit..... I'd still prefer more salt on the fish & chips, were good better this time for me, but the scenery as you can see, SOOOO beautiful 💖 the stingrays were plentiful 2day, we saw about 6. Definitely worth a visit & stop 😀

One of our favourite cheap restaurants around Whangarei. Always pretty good refreshment for really good price. Sure, you can get better fish and chips, but I think this is really it, when you want to eat pretty good meal and don’t need to spend a lot. I recommend fish burger, it’s just amazing😍

Each time we go to Uncle Peter's farm we make sure to grab a feed here. This is some of the best fush and chups you will ever find in NZ. I recommend the seafood pack. It's a mix. I think it's around the $14 mark or something with a variety of seafood in there. A good serving for your puku. The staff are not the friendliest but I'm guessing in a high end fashion boutique the staff are snobby. So I mean that's a perfect justification for being unfriendly if you are producing some of the best fush n chups in the country. Know what I'm sayin? I have a beard.

Always drove past wanting to stop by, and finally took the time to stop for food on a rainy Sunday. Great fish and chips, one of the best I've had in NZ. The oysters were great, and the tarakihi fillet was cooked to perfection, both with good, crisp batter. Only let down was the chips weren't as good as other places, I prefer slightly chunkier like you get back home in the UK (with salt and malt vinegar!). No photo because we ate it too fast - definitely recommend stopping by if you like fresh fish n chips.

1 of our fav places when the oysters are in season. Yummy fresh oysters. We travel 44ks to go for a feed out here. Always check if they have fresh oysters available before you make that trip. We avoid buying hot potato chips..last ones we have had at 3 separate times were always way too greasy and expensive. Kumara chips are ok sometimes. Try king prawn & fish burger.. liked that over the steak & prawn. Steak tasted gross and is thin..
