Super fresh and juicy fish and cooked oysters. Must try! Busy place so a bit of a short wait

Busy little place, very tasty and good value

Best place in the bay for a nice piece of fish, fresh raw oysters, cooked mussels or a proper burger. Amazing spot at high tide to have your meal, highly recommended A+++++++

Fabulous experience. Oysters fresh. Service great. Very friendly staff. Heard so much about it. I doubt if you'll get fresher oysters, fish, and everything seafood, anywhere else. It's only 10 minutes south of Whakatane. Enjoy ☝

My husband was talking about stopping in for some Ohiwa oysters all the way from Auckland! It is such a lovely little spot to stop for a rest and some yummy food. Oysters, scallops and crunchy chips were on the menu for my husband, which he really enjoyed. There were many cars stopping on the day we visited, it is incredibly popular and there may be a wait for your meal if extra busy. Will definitely call in again!

First time visiting Ohope and enjoyed the fresh fish, oysters and Mussels fritters so much we went back again the next day! Definitely recommend this place!

My favorite fish and chip shop in NZ. I always make sure to visit whenever I'm in the area. Cute little side of the road setup. The chips and burgers are good quality and a decent price. The facilities (bathroom and tables) aren't the best, but you go for the food not for fine dining. The view of the estuary is nice and there are plenty of stingrays that swim up and down the water as well. Make sure you have sunblock and a hat on a sunny day as there is only one table under the tree. If you enjoy fish and chips and are in the area, this is a definite must visit.

While staying at Awakeri Hot Springs we have a ritual that treat ourselves to a feed of oysters,fish,chips etc at Ohiwa oyster farm takeaways! Love their yummy kai sit down by the water enjoy the view of the harbour! I like to grab their flavoured smoked mussels to take home! Great service with a smile, food always served so nice & hot good prices, we'll be back for our yearly treat this time next year! 😉👍 Back for our fish chips & oysters January 2021 while staying at Awakeri Hot Springs! Another delicious kai + smoked mussels to take away! Friendly efficient service as always served nice & hot! We ate down by the waters edge at the tables provided. Very popular spot to pop into if your'e heading to Opotiki or back to Ohope/Whakatane to get your fix of shark n tatties! 👍

The Ohiwa Oyster Farm is certainly a gem of a place, beautiful array of takeaway food with friendly staff. By the number of people that came and went while we ate our oyster and mussel lunch with a side order of chips, it speaks volumes about how good it is, see you again on our next visit, thanks for a wonderful meal.

Heard so many fabulous comments on how delicious the fish & chips were from here & told totally worth the drive for them..so I guess my expectations were already on high alert, hence my dissapointed in my first visit to Ohiwa oyster farm 😕 They probably had a busy day & that was why they had run out of mussels and all varieties of fish except for hoki(not a type I like). The fries/chips in my opinion needed more salt, perhaps we caught them on a bad day. On scenic side, view gorgeous & we even got to see a stingray swimming around. On second visit..... I'd still prefer more salt on the fish & chips, were good better this time for me, but the scenery as you can see, SOOOO beautiful 💖 the stingrays were plentiful 2day, we saw about 6. Definitely worth a visit & stop 😀

One of our favourite cheap restaurants around Whangarei. Always pretty good refreshment for really good price. Sure, you can get better fish and chips, but I think this is really it, when you want to eat pretty good meal and don’t need to spend a lot. I recommend fish burger, it’s just amazing😍

Situated just outside of town along the highway, good place to stop and have some fish and chips and enjoy the lagoon scenery. Popular place and can take a while with your order.

Great little takeaway just out of Ohope, on the road to Opotiki. Oysters are great of course, but other deep fried also available. Can sit at tables on the estuary on a fine day to eat. A legend.

Fresh fresh fresh... So busy you have to wait a bit. But good

Always yummy. The guy who runs the place is a top guy. Our regular order is a dozen each of oysters and prawns.

Loved the food, the sweet Chili mussels were lovely and so melt in your mouth

The prawns and oysters are yummy here and the batter is nice and light. I think they really need to buy quality chips though and remember to salt the chips and seafood too. Using the cheaper chips brings the whole meal down a couple of stars.

Amazing oysters the raw are creamy & lush. Battered is so tasty a very light batter like tempura the best!!

A lovely local recommended this place to us. Oyster burgers & fish were awesome 5/5. Reason it's a 4 is curly fries were a bit too salty and the chicken burger was average.

We had the famous oysters with some gurnard and chips. The oysters lived up to their name, delicious! The fish was cooked to perfection 👌 The chips were a bit bland but ok all in all a great experience here 😋

Each time we go to Uncle Peter's farm we make sure to grab a feed here. This is some of the best fush and chups you will ever find in NZ. I recommend the seafood pack. It's a mix. I think it's around the $14 mark or something with a variety of seafood in there. A good serving for your puku. The staff are not the friendliest but I'm guessing in a high end fashion boutique the staff are snobby. So I mean that's a perfect justification for being unfriendly if you are producing some of the best fush n chups in the country. Know what I'm sayin? I have a beard.

Always drove past wanting to stop by, and finally took the time to stop for food on a rainy Sunday. Great fish and chips, one of the best I've had in NZ. The oysters were great, and the tarakihi fillet was cooked to perfection, both with good, crisp batter. Only let down was the chips weren't as good as other places, I prefer slightly chunkier like you get back home in the UK (with salt and malt vinegar!). No photo because we ate it too fast - definitely recommend stopping by if you like fresh fish n chips.

I went to The Ohiwa Oyster Farm last year with my Family when we had a Holiday in Ohope we went to the Ohope Camp most of the time we had Fish and Chips me and my little brother loved the food and my Mum I loved the Fish especially the Oysters best oysters ive ever had solid 5/5 Stars

Delicious but tables out in the Sun and no shade. Fried like their food by the eat of lunch. Great seafood though!

Great Fish n Burgers, we ordered 4 scopes if chips for 7 people which was enough, we phoned our order in and the chips seemed to have sitting for a bit so tasted a bit tough.

Unfortunately we were abit to late to purchase the raw oysters as the season had finished, however the fish was fresh, crispy and delicious. The battered oysters were cooked to my liking, still partially raw and crispy. I always enjoy the food everytime I go there.

Unfortunately oysters were covered in a pale barely cooked batter. Disappointing after the great comments my husband had made. Even he was disappointed. Will go again and hope for better cooking. Great place to stop and share time out w the seagulls.

We always stop to get some fresh oyster. Cooked oysters also very tasty and juicy. You won't want to miss their big delicious burgers.

1 of our fav places when the oysters are in season. Yummy fresh oysters. We travel 44ks to go for a feed out here. Always check if they have fresh oysters available before you make that trip. We avoid buying hot potato chips..last ones we have had at 3 separate times were always way too greasy and expensive. Kumara chips are ok sometimes. Try king prawn & fish burger.. liked that over the steak & prawn. Steak tasted gross and is thin..

A frequent visitor I am. Absolutely marvelous place. My preference is the deep fried muscles. The boss goes out of his way to ensure he does the very best chips in the country. 24 muscles and chips please - hahahaha!

There are alot of good fish and chip shops in this area, well in all of New Zealand really, but at this place i had the best fish Gurnard i think, and oysters, five weeks in NZ the best i tasted!

Oysters only move from about 20m from the farm to the shop. Absolutely beautiful and absolutely fresh. If you're going to Ohiwa (Wich you should; it's beautiful) this should be a mandatory stop.

Stopped here for lunch on a trip to Te Kaha. Service was friendly and fast. The seafood we had was so fresh a delicious and chips crunchy. Will go again for sure....soon I hope.

Good fast freshly prepared seafood. No fresh oysters at this time due to being out of season. Only suggestion would be some better shading for picnic tables. This wouldnt stop me going again though.

Especially when you're travelling from Rotorua back to Giaborne via Opotiki & the Waioweka Gorge.. Amazing Kai! & many thanks for the shout Cuz!

Oysters were a good size but had been frozen and then thawed which you don't expect at a farm. Also the bags the oysters are in are really hard to open.

A great place to stop, see the pet stingrays if the tide is well in, and eat some great kai moana. A wide selection of fishy street food well cooked.

People this has the best fish and chips I have had in a long while the oysters are just the best... ask about the window of shame...and make sure you don't end on it.

It's okay. Chips too soggy as was the fish batter. They need to change the oil more regularly and make sure it is hot hot hit.
