This was such a lovely surprise! My boyfriend and I went here a few months ago for a treat-yourself breakfast before leaving Wellington and Olive delivered beautifully! The staff was super friendly, it had a nice and relaxed atmosphere and I loved the hot chocolate. Since I‘m not a big fan of egg, I ordered mine without it and got some more of everything else instead. Great service. Would definitely come back, worth the price!

Delicious! So we ended up here because the place we'd intended to go was fully booked, but I'm so glad they were because otherwise we would have missed out on the amazing food at Olive. I had beef shin. Soooo tender and succulent. Deep fried custard for dessert is something I'd never tried before but what a treat it was! Absolutely delicious. The service was amazing, plenty of staff who were all friendly and attentive.

You can just tell by the smell when you walk in the door that the food is going to be worth it. The wait staff couldn't have been more helpful and polite and the coffee was so good we had 2 each. Will be back next time in Welly.

Perfect little spot in the heart of Wellington. Olive is always packed with people but there’s never a massive wait for food. The corn risotto is absolutely packed full of flavour and incredibly rich and creamy. Definitely something worth getting!

Very friendly and well trained staffs. They use flight coffee blend and does really good latte art. Foods are very nice too. Can get very busy during peak times both on weekdays and weekends. Outside seating is really nice. Overall high quality food and service.

Great food, has vegan options which is awesome. Only downside was the noise, was nice at first but then sadly 2 extremely noisy groups were seated next to us, not the restuarants fault but the sound doesn't get absorbed so its hard to have a quiet dinner. The service was excellent as well, really good sense of humor from the waitress, and the gentleman that was there was extremely polite. Great if you don't mind the noise.

Olive is such a cute cafe that serves some serious killer food. Eggs Benedict is always a favourite, but the eggs are definitely a make or break for the dish. Luckily, these eggs were done superbly and making the yolk run is always so satisfying! And wilted spinach with eggs, who doesn't love this combo! I'm still relatively new with coffee, so I enjoyed their moccachino but unsure whether it was the best cause I don't have much to compare it to! Friendly service and great seating arrangements! Had relatively quick turnaround times even though they were operating under social distancing with Covid-19. Will definitely visit again!

The best iced chocolate I’ve ever had in my entire life. Thick chocolate ganache, not too much ice, and a good dollop of whipped cream on top. Also the best breakfast place in town in my opinion, not to mention the outside area is such a lovely environment to be in.

Dined here for Saturday brunch and wished I had another day in Welly so I could go back! Casual courtyard dining space with smoking/non-smoking areas. I had the tuna melt - the photo doesn’t do it justice! The perfectly seasoned tuna mix was rolled up and served with dollops of delicious mayo dressing. Also my flat white coffee was very good.

Every time, I eat at Olive, I'm amazed how it can have this posh,yet casual atmosphere. Food is faultless, delicious and beautifully presented. There's always something for vegans on the menu, which we appreciate. Staff are lovely and helpful. The leafy courtyard is a real treat. Visit Olive, you won't be disappointed.

So utterly delicious in ever way with sugar free, dairy free, meals of amazing. Oh, and a great drinks menu. Olive goes out of its way to present fine dining without making its patrons feel condescended to. A very clear epicurean intent sets the tone for superb dishes. Entrées include Zany Zeus halloumi with jut the best tomatoes, and cashew mozzarella for hungry vegans. Every main dish is superb, so be sure to visit many times! Go here to enjoy a really spectacular dining experience and enjoy going back every time!

Food is great - some tasty and varied options. Last time we were there we had some delicious waffles and eggs Florentine for brunch. But this place is always packed at weekends - which means it can often feel as if you are being seated as brusquely in whatever small corner space exists when you arrive. The courtyard out the back is beautiful, but we’ve never managed to sit out there.

One of the coolest places in Wellington! It is so cosy and comfortable you would like to come back again and again. They have olive tree growing in the yard, and plenty of space to sit inside or outside. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Food is delicious, we ordered a porridge and a big breakfast, and it was amazing. Porridge is very smooth and yummy, big breakfast has one of the best hash browns I've tried. I will definitely come here again!

Olive has come into its own in recent years. It used to be a good go-to for brunch / lunch, with a less enticing dinner offering. But it has become a vege/vegan haven with exciting new recipes, ideas, and special dinner offerings. One of a kind in the city.

Olive is a lovely little place with dining in garden out the back and due to dining in the evening the covers were pulled over however I'm sure in the day time it would make for an awesome experience. Staff were friendly however unfortunately the food was a tad disappointing 😕 had the pork belly as a starter and the pork was dry and overcooked and then had WOAP burger... hmmm certainly nothing to rave about, only chose that as I felt everything else was overpriced. Looking at past reviews from others, which all seem amazing, maybe I got Olive on a 'bad night' 🤷‍♀️

The location of the restaurant is in the heart of the ‘buzzy’ vibe of Cuba Street, the food was delicious and the service excellent. We then followed up with a delightful brunch in the courtyard a few days later. Well done to the Olive management and staff.

Food was pretty good, but not great. Burger that we got fell apart soon after starting to eat it. Sourdough toast and eggs was good and simple for myself. We came around breakfast/brunch and it was packed. Be warned that if you come during a busy time that the restaurant is packed to the brim and it is hard to get around. The food is very tasty and well cooked, the only things I would suggest to the chief is to be way lighter on the salt in fries, try 2 times( second time I asked less salt) , but it came salty as the sea. In the middle of wet windy and cold Wellington we found Olive. Small menu compared to some but the food was fabulous. Crumbed tuna fishcake croquettes and salad disappeared before i could ask how it tasted. The pappadelle offering was equally delicious. A glass of Spanish red came with one meal. I had the vegan spaghetti. I am not vegan nor vegetarian, but it sounded delicious. It was made with a white bean sauce and included eggplant and kale. It was truly the best pasta I have ever eaten. The flavors were perfectly paired, and the kale was crisp and perfectly cooked. The only thing I wish is that I had ordered more of it! The service was really good and my husband ordered the eggs on sourdough which was also delicious. I highly recommend this place and will be thinking about it for years to come. There is also an outdoor seating area in the back that was set in a beautiful garden. It's the perfect place for brunch with friends or a lunch date

Been to Olive Cafe for the last 5 years. Always eat there during my annual visit to Wellington. They have a simple all-day menu, and will add a bit of specialties for festive seasons. Absolutely love the minimalist. Less is more. They focus on doing their best for what they do (their Mocha and the all-day meal are my favourite). The staff is always friendly and professional. The cafe attracts not only tourists but also the locals. They have some long term local customers as I see familiar faces all the time.

Very very nice breakfast but maybe a little bit more pricey than other places around the area (but believe me, you definitely get what you pay for). I ended up having the full works breakfast which was delicious and actually pretty generous. The Iced chocolate drink was a little underwhelming overall (60% drink - 40% ice) but it was tasty overall (a bit over priced, but tasty). Overall, a very nice place to come for food and would definitely return in future.

Walking past and stopped to look at the menu in the window. Decided to try it and very glad we did. The food was outstanding and theservice was too. The pork belly starter was delicious and perfectly sized, as was the fish carpaccio. The lamb rump main was perfectly cooked with great flavours with the accompaniments. The toasted marshmallow desert was interesting but very nice. Would recommend this restaurant to anyone wanting a great meal.

This is one of the best places to have a meal out in Wellington. I had dinner (Xmas party event where all the room was booked for all the group) and the ambiance was quiet, they have a really nice outdoor place with heating, plants and candles. Perfect for a Xmas party or a night out. The food is amazing and they not only got gf, df, veg and vegan options, but the staff also looks after this very well. Recommended!

Came for the Burger Wellington burger, which was very good, but not why I will come back. This place wins 5 stars on the basis of excellent service, excellent technical execution of the food, and interesting menu concepts. The poached egg entree was amazing served with a truffle cream that had me dipping my finger in it long after I had eaten the rest of the dish. And on that truffle cream, when my partner had expressed interest in the whipped olive oil to our server he sent for the chef or sous to explain to us how both were made, which was a really fun thing we appreciated immensely. The festival dish was a lamb ragu pie with filo dough. To be honest, it was unique and delicious, but it reminded us of a really elegant Slim Jim. I personally thought a tougher pastry would have held better as before it was done the ragu had turned the filo into a sodden mess. Still ate every bit of it though! The drink list is also worth noting as it really holds your hand with its suggestions based on what you're feeling like at the moment, a touch I'd never seen before. The menu featured a nice mix of vegetarian dishes if that's your bag. Will definitely patron them again in the near future.

For $25, the Olive big breakfast was ungenerous to say the least. Two beautiful poached eggs with well-executed Hollandaise and properly crispy streaky bacon were excellent, as was the home-made hash brown but one small mushroom, one half a tomato indifferent sausage and only one small slice of toasted ciabata let the meal down as did the weak English breakfast tea. The service was quick and friendly.

Come bill-paying time the maitre'd was genuinely shocked that the lamb was tough. He did the right thing and offered me a free dessert or drink, which I declined, so he discounted the meal a wee bit. We parted amicably. Everyone's entitled one mistake. I'd go back and would recommend it.
