Excellent food, excellent wine,excellent waiters,duck was slightly overcooked, but delicious food will definitely be going back. Went back a second time and once again was absolutely delicious had the 55 day aged steak for main and it was the nicest dish I have ever eaten,highly highly recommend shed 5,excellent food,excellent staff,excellent price

First of all very surprised the waitress did not ask us how we would like our meat cooked. Eye fillet came more medium-well and the duck was cooked well-done which I rather eat rare to medium-rare however was never asked by our waitress. Secondly the curried cauliflower which comes with the duck was very over powering and took away the balance of the dish. At last we ordered a side which never arrived. Overall experience was good however not as good as I hoped and expected of a "upscale" restaurant

Loved the theme and atmosphere. Food was sublime. 😍 I had the grilled yellow fin tina and my partner had the grilled snapper. Both meals were absolutely delicious. Our waiter was amazing and really knew his stuff. Sadly, the speed of the drinks service was a major let-down, having to wait nearly 15 minutes for our drinks to arrive: 3 glasses of wine, a lemonade and a beer (still in it's bottle) Seems there is only 1 person working the bar/drinks area 😞

Good was excellent, services could have been a bit better given it's a top restaurant, their Covid tracker didn't work for me and the Nemu was a bit minimalistic, thought lamb would have been on the menu. However, it was a lovely evening and they are operating during difficult times.

We dined at Shed 5 last night with our lovely friends to celebrate a birthday. The hardest thing was deciding what to pick from the delicious menu offerings. We were waited on by the truly friendly & professional Harry, his wonderful service only added to the enjoyment of our night. Sitting window side we had the perfect view of the lunar eclipse & our birthday girl was even surprised with a wee birthday plate from the kitchen with a treat that we sung HB to. Highly recommend this 5 star dining experience to others.

Dinner was great, the desserts were so pretty you'd hardly want to eat them - but we did and they were wonderful. Edwin our waiter was very attentive, knowledgable and doing a fabulous job. Thanks for a great night.

My friends and decided to have fine dining there instead of going to the Crab Shack because they provide truly fresh seafood. The food quality is really high. We had salmon and king fish cooked with puree and cheese. They tasted amazing. But the entree did not worth the price given its too salty flavor.

Wow! Was really impressed with the friendly efficient service. The view is relaxing and the table is beautifully set out. We went for a light lunch and found the entrees to be a reasonable and good size for lunch along with some fresh bread and a few oysters. The food was delicious and a good variety of wines as well. We were disappointed that we couldn't get fresh oysters that day but the lightly battered ones were really tasty.

This place has exquisitely cooked and prepared food, with a broad range of wines. The seafood here is great . Do not go if on a budget - the white tablecloths are a giveaway on the $$$ department. Best time to visit is when someone else is paying !

Good service and food, but the separate dining room with the glass roof is terrible. It's like eating in an overheated glass house with poor ventilation. Be prepared to sweat. Recommend eating in the restaurant area instead.

We were visiting from out of town and decided to check this place out. Food was pretty good for the most part meals came out within a good time frame. Initially it was quite hard to get a table although the place wasn’t busy and we ended up sitting in the bar for a considerable amount of time without anyone taking a drink order from us either. The service was a little bit lacking overall I’m however this was made up by the food. I’ve been to this establishment a couple times before however first time it was a bit of a let down considering the amount that we paid for dinner. I hope this is an isolated incident .

Shed5 provides the best and fresh seafood in town. We ordered blader market fish and duck roll, the taste was speechlessly delicious. You can pick a seat near window - the sun light would make your experience more wonderful!

My friend and I had starter, main and dessert and all 3 courser were delicious and beautifully presented. I especially enjoyed the Ika mata as an entré. It was one of the nicest and most interesting raw fish dish I have ever tasted. Also the chocolate mouse with rosemary, tangelo and olive oil ice cream is worth a try.

Very unique restaurant inside out. Had lunch with colleague, the wait for main was a bit long, but it's worth the wait. Appetizer fish brandade was good (bread base was warm!), main was fish of the day (snapper), will give it 4.5 out of 5.

What a delicious meal, a great atmosphere overlooking the water, excellent and attentive front of house team. A fantastic dinning experience all round. We both had the sea food chowder, it was to die for. The Pork Belly and the Lamb both cooked superbly and full of flavour. Highly recommend and we will certainly be back.

Beautiful food. Absolutely stunning. I had 3 courses off the vegetarian menu (given by request) for lunch and they were absolutely delicious. The tomatoes on the starter were so sweet and the combination of mozzarella with the tomatoes, basil, crutons and incredible roasted garlic, was perfect. I would have preferred the gnocci came with the same garlic as the starter, rather than the caramelised shallots, which were really nice and sweet but I am not into onions in any capacity. If you love caramelised onion though, you will ADORE this. The only other thing I would have done differently myself is a little more sauce with the gnocci (but that's because I am a sauce-a-holic!). The gnocci itself was so cheesy and delicious. So soft. And the spinach with the gnocci was a perfect addition in soothing the richness of the gnocci and sauce. The dessert menu was quite small, which was disappointing. But the chocolate mousse cake was beyond words. It had cake texture and then when you put it in your mouth, it dissolves like mousse. It is STUNNING. The olive oil ice-cream was something I wasn't expecting to like but was perfect in complimenting the richness of the cake. The ice-cream had a lovely light lemon flavour, and was not too sweet. Overall, an absolute delightful experience. A beautiful meal. We went on First Table, so having 50% off the price was a wonderful end to an incredible meal.

Restaurant mainly for tourist. Risotto was ok. The oysters were great. Waitress was friendly and helpful but a little forgetful. My knife had some kind of sticky substance on it. When you pay with credit card, the machine asks if you want to include a tip. This is the first time I've encountered this in NZ. Other places have never asked for a tip. It's my understanding that NZ is not a tipping culture as the waitstaff gets a decent salary unlike the US where waiters receive low pay and have to earn part of their paycheck from tips.

The service was impeccable. Every member of the staff was polite, friendly, and accommodating. I was there with a large group and a set menu, and I would suggest getting their usual menu. The entree options were squid, fish, or pickled beetroot. I don't like fish or seafood. I'm not fond of beetroot, but I was willing to try it since it had ricotta. The beetroot itself was fairly flavorless, but there was a beetroot dip spooned on the plate full of that overpowering beetroot flavor. The ricotta was more a condiment than an ingredient, a small dollop on the side. I scraped what I could of the ricotta and left the rest. The gnocchi for my main was actually very good. However, the desert was supposed to be chocolate cake with cherries. The cake was good, but I couldn't make sense of the "cherries". I don't know what it was, but it wasn't cherries. The faux-cherries and the awkward beetroot dish almost ruined my experience. However, the staff and the main kept me from leaving a bad review. Besides, I would have ordered differently if it wasn't a set menu and probably had a wonderful experience.

A great dining experience at Shed 5. Difficult to find in the dark (we are out-of-towners and it is hidden away at the back of Queens Wharf), but the friendly staff, warm atmosphere and culinary delights quickly dissipated the initial orienteering frustrations. Everyone in our group of 7 was impressed with their meals, and the waiter was very helpful and attentive. My 3 gluten free courses were delicious, with no adverse reaction from eating out here. Overall a perfect night of celebration for our family.

The food here was amazing, my wife and I shared oysters, some breads and dips and both had the (3rd) market fish option with Salmon and Tuna respectively. Everything was amazing, they service was great and they even surprised us with a little after dinner treat and a lovely "Happy 1st Wedding Anniversary" message. Try all their oyster flavours if you can, you won't regret it!

Brilliant experience. We took my family visiting from Auckland on one of the week days in January. The sun was shining and we sat outside with a small dog. The team there were kind to our 5 year old who had a birthday that day with a song / birthday plate and even offered fresh fish for our 15 year old dog who travelled all the way from Auckland. We had such an amazing time there and way we were looked after. I have been there many times but this day was very special. We will be back for more of our special occasions and thanks again team! (Food was excellent of course!)

Had the shed 5 fish and chips and was a little disappointed as it was a bit average flavour wise, well cooked though. The beer selection was also disappointing, there is so much more out there these days compared to what was on offer.

This is NOT a cheap restaurant, but happily, this isn't one of those restaurants which run on the principle of "the more you pay, the smaller the portions". However because it was a much loved staff members farewell and she chose this place I decided it was best to put my pre judgements aside and go with the flow. Upon arriving our staff were warmly welcomed into the main bar area,where we were seated until the main restaurant opened for lunch at 12pm. I was able use their toilet facilities while waiting and the toilets are lovely and have a grand decor theme to them along with some lovely hand creme that smells delicious and added a nice homely touch.

Great greeting on arrival for four of us there for my mother's birthday dinner. I always start with a rating of 5 for restaurants and take points away based on the experience throughout the night. Can I just say, I've come to Shed 5 multiple times and tonight was rather disappointing. The good stuff: - seated by the window - maitre d organised a way for us to extend our table time (may not have worked out in our favour, should've just left it at the regular sitting time slot) - knowledgeable wait staff - Duck entree was amazing as usual and love the balsamic they use for the bread - creme brulee was tasty The bad stuff: - weird way of ordering. I usually order for multiple people (have done so with other visits here), but this time it was everyone order per seat... and got cut off by wait staff. Annoying habit I hate. - the overall dining experience felt almost purposefully dragged out with no fillers in between (I.e. offer more drinks perhaps) water glasses went empty for about 20 mins! I noticed other areas being served well by their wait staff, so maybe ours was a dud - my main was super oily and super salty. I had to get others to taste it to make sure i wasn't imagining it because I know my taste buds can be sensitive sometimes, but they agreed my meal was salty. Needless to say I couldnt eat much of it. - long wait between main, dessert and after dinner drinks. Last time we were here, while its not a NZ custom, we tipped our wait staff really well and unfortunately this time we paid our bill and left. Not the usual Shed 5 standard, so don't base going there on this review alone. I will still go back with a new season's menu, but yeah, left tonight feeling a bit disappointed.

I had twelve Waiheke oysters with a glass of Mumm followed by pan-fried Snapper with thrice-cooked chip and slaw washed down with a Hawkes Bay Pinot Gris. The food was excellent and the service superb. Quick, knowledgeable and efficient. Couldn’t have been a better experience.

Good to see Shed 5 open again with their fabulous menu, friendly staff and plenty of space between tables. The hāpuka and seafood chowder were superb, as was the lamb. Consistently high quality and good value for fine dining in a relaxed setting.

My fiance had the kingfish with smoked mussel creme fraiche, green onion fried potatoes, watercress and caper salsa and the salmon starter. Both were absolutely delish. This is a restaurant I turn to first when hosting international visitors. NZ produce, prepared in an NZ style. Subtle, yet friendly, well informed front of house staff. The meals are consistently interesting, stylishly presented, with a great variety of choice. The wine list is extensive and of an excellent standard.

The presentation along with the taste of the food was superb. I highly recommend shed 5 to all walks of life. Dont let the flash exterior and business men put you off coming here. It is a grand dining experience surely not to be missed.

Shed 5 is very well appointed - the decor is amazing, the staff are friendly and helpful without being overbearing, the toilets were absolutely amazing (like something out of a five-star hotel!). And of course the most important part is the food which was just incredible. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone that wants a top-notch dining experience in Wellington city.

This restaurant is fabulous the food is outstanding the service is excellent. The view and the environment of the waterfront adds to the ambiance and the seafood dishes available. If you are travelling to Wellington and a looking for a great seafood experience then this restaurant should be on your list. If you're lucky enough you will actually get to meet the English chef who is one of the friendliest people and a master of his craft.

Went there for a rare date night. Was not disappointed. The food was excellent and the service equal to that. From the moment we arrived we were treated as if we were welcome guests - not just a potential sale. Our wait staff were quietly attentive and friendly. A slight error in the order meant that we ended up having something we would not normally have - but who cares it was great and we will order it again. And - to round the evening off - it did not cost the earth. We'll be back!!

Good balanced menu with very tasty food that met expectations. Attentive staff nicely brought over an extra birthday treat at the end of the night. Sommelier gave some very good recommendations for the mains we selected. Only negative was that the chairs are in need of replacement/refurbishment, perhaps by some more comfortable ones.

I have had great meals here in the past, but today I felt really let down in general by my meal/experience. I ordered the Ceviche and the Lamb Saddle and a Tomato Juice. Everything just seemed a little slower than I'd expect, esp since the restaurant wasn't overly busy at the late lunch time I went. My ceviche was fancy looking, but just didn't hit the right notes. I am unsure what the fish was, but it lacked the tenderness and texture of a dish I have eaten many many times before in other restaurants. There was another longish wait for my main, the Lamb, which had multiple very tough parts( meat) and the broad beans were chewy as well. Taste was ok, not what I would have expected from a nearly $40 main. My drink sat empty and uncleared for half my meal. I expected better all around and left feeling I had spent quite a lot and it had missed the mark on this occasion.

Last night my son and I celebrated my birthday at Shed 5 Wellington. We have two fine dining experiences a year so we were was really looking forward to it. At the time of booking I was asked if it was for something special and I said it was a birthday, but nothing eventuated during the evening. I mentioned this as I was paying and was told to go back and sit at the table as it had been forgotten. …I declined at that point. The meal was slightly disappointing as the groper was dry and a bit over cooked on top and the truffle filled Yorkshire pudding on my son’s plate was inedible due to the taste. No one came to ask if we were happy with our meal, nor was this question asked as we left. I eventually caught a waitresses’ attention and after a little discussion she said we could have a plain one with no filling. When it finally arrived my son had finished the rest of his meal. The waiter who returned it (a very pleasant young fellow) said lots of people left it on their plates. Wouldn't the kitchen need to know this and make some changes?? The crème brulee was outstanding, but the chocolate mousse that the waiter recommended, was a little disappointing. Small and not that tasty. I also wasn't offered another glass of wine. I would have declined this as I was driving but I thought this was an oversight. All in all, pleasant surroundings and lovely staff but they need a little more training. I feel a little disappointed today and would only give this experience 3/5.

Sunny yet protected from the famous wind this is and stays a great place also as a work venue. I enjoy the food, which is unpretentious and favourfully prepared. I am a foody and I do consider this a great spot for that lovely family environment with excellent food and service. The only thing why this doesn't get a five star is that well that would just be crazy, because I can't just walk there living out East. Hope this helps.
