H.My new favourite restaurant in Wellington! This cozy little place is smaller than I expected, but that makes it the perfect little place to take your significant other on a nice little date, while still being able to hear each other and not have to talk over 50 other diners. I really wouldn’t recommend this place for large groups. The food was out of this world though. Everything was cooked and served beautifully. Special shoutout to the pulled pork taco. I really have nothing negative to say. There’s enough on the menu to warrant coming back here a few times too! Our waitress was also very lovely and pleasant to interact with. A very easy 5 stars
c.Wow! I had my birthday here and the staff really went all out, the chef baked me a huge double layered bday cake and they sectioned off the whole outside area for our party! The smokey cocktails were really fun and magical and the meals delicious! I had the steak and it was cooked just perfectly, tender and melt in your mouth! I'd highly recommend for a special occasion🥰. Thankyou alchemist team!
S.We had the flounder and the pork belly. Amazing flavours on the flounder and a great size, perfectly cooked. Nice crackle on the pork. Could do with more sides but I still rate it a 5 based on the taste and great, friendly service.
C.The flounder was the best choice of the night. Otherwise we found the chef got a bit happy with the salt. The cheesecake in my friend's words were "tastes like a supermarket one."Staff were great
M.My sister and I saw a sign for Chicken Parmi and couldn't turn down that offer but as we turned up they were starting to close up shop. Not sure if it was the manager or chef but as we were leaving we were stopped and told to come back and they made us a fabulous dinner (the chicken parmi is freaking delicious!). We had planned to go back a couple days later but Wellington is not for us so we returned home, but will definitely have this on the top of our list should we return!
T.Casual laneway dining. Food was tasty, and service is friendly. Not the greatest spot to dine outside - you're in an alleyway off Cuba Mall (so it's not that lovely a views and people frequently walk through). And their inside area doesn't hold many - but suffice of its just a couple.
Cocktails are great - fanciful and fun. Pretty sweet and not terribly alcoholic but they look great for Instagram... Food was reasonably fast and tasty - albeit small portions for mains so definitely order a few starters.
We'd booked through First Table and I am glad we did. Always worth trying something new and not paying full price, so you're never too disappointed.
Important side note, if you're looking to book an event here.
I had contacted them about event space but their communication is slow and they never responded with the requested pricing or info - if the event space is purely what you see at the laneway level then it's not big or fancy at all.
O.The staff were great, and it's such a cool new spot! Missed out on the Flounder so will have to go back. We had quite a few entrees which were the highlight.

A.A new restaurant in Wellington Central and highly recommended. I love their cocktails and food for their beautiful presentation and taste. The restaurant price is very reasonable and the staff are friendly. Best of luck the Alchemyst :)
