Reviews of The Old Quarter
L.
A great menu of fresh and delicious food! Amazing cocktail menu, with a great Happy Hour special. Staff very accommodating and very quaint setting
T.
Came here today for lunch after hearing some great things and was certainly not disappointed. The lunch deals for either $15 or $18 are fabulous value, I had the vegetarian $15 lunch and thought it was super fresh and tasty. Would certainly recommend this place and would love to come back sometime to check out their dinner menu!
F.
Usually one of my favourites! But dine in rather than order for your moneys-worth... Unfortunately the last few times I ordered from there I was severely underwhelmed by the amount of food I'd payed for. For example the small boxes of food - already small in size - were barely filled. I had just convinced my flatmate to try it out and luckily their food was topped right up and it didn't taint their first impression, but mine was not and I was quite upset. 4 stars only because the food itself deserves a better score.
K.
Absolutely amazing.
I never written a food review before but I must this time. Finally found the best Vietnamese @Buncha in New Zealand. The taste is authentic. The grilled pork belly with lemongrass marinated has a zing of charcoal grill flavour, the pork mince is juicy, the springroll is not the best but it adds the crunchy bit into the dish with mushroom flavour. Everything is dancing together with the well balance warm sauce (Nuoc Cham) of saltiness, sweet, sour and sweet.
The value is also good. It is just generous as the Vietnamese people.
The place is cosy, casual with minimalism style on cutlery. Great vibes for lunch and after work dinner.
I came back the 2nd time to have @Pho. Saw comment on gg review so I wasn't expecting it to be good. But turns out the Rare beef pho was just as good. The broth offers that Beef Pho's unique taste of long cooking beef bones with spices, the meat is soft and juicy.
Vietnamese coffee was not the best but it was good.
N.
Great service and food! We were running slightly late and the staff were happy to move our reservation. The wait staff were attentive to the right degree, making sure we had ordered and checking in to make sure we were happy with meals. They provided good recommendations. The food came out quickly and was really tasty. We ended up getting lots of little plates to share and every dish was excellent. I’d definitely recommend this restaurant and look forward to coming back.
M.
When we walked in, the staff described the food as being a modern take on Vietnamese food. I would describe it as being Vietnamese/Asian food adapted to Kiwi tastes. Delicious, wonderfully plated, but ultimately not as spicy as I would have liked.
J.
The Bun Cha Hanoi was delicious, packed with flavour and a really refreshing dish for lunch.
I also had Grandma’s Beef Curry which was also great, but very rich in taste so was difficult to finish. I’d have probably enjoyed it more if I was sharing with a couple of people and having just a small amount. Unfortunately my friend doesn’t eat beef and I struggled through the flavour after I was half way through … nice spicy kick to it, though.
Z.
Good location, nice food. Ordered the beef curry it tasted super good. Rice is a bit short sized for me so I ordered an extra white rice then this made a perfect portion. Prices is good too for lunch specials.
D.
We went as a group for a meal and the meal was fantastic. Love the level of fusion, as a fan of Asian cuisine I was very happy with both the quality and presentation. Bustling and a bit noisy...just added to the authenticity for me. I will be back.
W.
Friendly and helpful staff. Quick service. Food was amazing! The lunch deals are worth the money for sure! Lots of options, portion was decent, and very reasonable price! The green curry was heavenly delicious! The tofu bao was very yummy as well! The coconut rice was very fragrant and yum! Everything was really nice here. Very recommended
T.
OMG!! The most authentic, freshest, tastiest Vietnamese not only here in Wellington but that I've had in New Zealand.
Over the top yummy goodness....get in my belly!
G.
Tonight we dined at The Old Quarter for the first time. It won’t be our last visit. Simply because there were only two of us and that severely limited the number of dishes we could have. Next time, more people and more dishes. It was bloody brilliantly delicious food and you should go (more than once). The bao bun got eaten before I could take a photo. I managed to get photos of the pancake, the salt and pepper squid and the dumplings (with the hot sauce). Great service delivered in a happy atmosphere.
S.
Wow wow wow. We ate here for the first time last night. It took us back to our travels in Vietnam a couple of years ago. We had a mixture of dishes, popcorn chicken, slow cooked beef curry, chicken and mango salad and coconut rice. All the dishes were amazing, the popcorn chicken was crispy but the chicken inside was still moist. The chicken and mango salad was crisp and fragrant. The beef curry, OMG the beef curry! with coconut rice. The decor was great - the service was amazing. It was a Sunday night and we still needed to book. The place is buzzing with a great vibe. We will be back.
P.
The restaurant is located at Dixon Street in Wellington city. It was packed and very busy. We were waiting for an hour for our food to be served but then I complained when I saw people who came after us got their food first. The manager apologised for the mucked up and charged us half the cost of our meals. This was not my intention but I appreciate the manager offered it to us with a smile. The food itself was top notch with best taste, so divine and we will go there again.
S.
Fabulously Authentic food, excellent service and a menu which reflects fresh seasonal produce. We sat along the back wall and got to see the action in the kitchen. Such a good vibe in a really busy restaurant, which manages to still serve up flawless plates of food super quick without rushing the patrons. I'll be returning here for my pho every time I come to Wellington
R.
We have enjoyed a couple of really great meals here over the past couple of months (Oct/Dec), firstly as a couple, then as a group of 5. Both times, we have been well impressed with the variety of flavours and textures on offer, with each dish vying for favourite of the night. The bao buns are essential to start off the night on a high note. On the last outing, we had the pork, BBQ chicken, crab and eggplant baos, chicken wings, chicken dumplings, zucchini fritters, pork spare ribs, mango salad, Banh Xeo pancakes, bun cha Hanoi, creamy chicken curry, and shaking beef sirloin. The only dish that failed to impress was the shaking beef, but otherwise each dish was fought over till gone. The cocktails and beverage menu caters for most, and the ambience is bright and colourful, themed on Vietnamese colours. For the 5 of us, it worked out to $203 for food, and $118 for drinks. They do accept vouchers, which one our party redeemed for the arty and saved us $35 off the price. Highly recommended.
C.
Excellent place for a casual dinner - the food was fresh and vibrant, service was speedy, and atmosphere really fun and relaxed! We would definitely recommend the soft shell crab bao, duck salad, and bahn xeo pancake... maybe give the tartare a miss though as it was a tad bland!
L.
My new favourite restaurant in Wellington !
Amazing tasty food, great service with very helpful guidance from our waitress. Decoration and atmosphere were also really enjoyable ! Everything was great. But the beef... omg... so niiiiice 😍 the Rare Beef Pho is my recommendation !
W.
Friendly and helpful staff. Quick service. Food was amazing! The lunch deals are worth the money for sure! Lots of options, portion was decent, and very reasonable price! The green curry was heavenly delicious! The tofu bao was very yummy …
E.
One of my favs, amazing food. My only negative would be for them to offer drinks on takeaway delivery apps.
B.
The food is absolutely phenomenal however the dishes like curry should include rice. I buy them off of uber eats and to pay for such a treat you would expect RICE to be complimentary to the curry. The food is always amazing but as a review being charged for the cheapest part of the meal feels like an insult since the whole meal will be costly anyway. I will continue to buy from them but you might as well include complimentary rice like all the other Vietnamese restaurants 🙄😬
H.
Incredible :) Bao buns selections the best, pork belly and short ribs rarely equalled anywhere
A.
I don't know how can I say that. First of all, the rare beef was really best. It was so fresh chewy soft tender..wow. But!! I was disappointed in soup!!! I try to eat without soup, and it seems like fusion food. If you expected authentic pho, you'll gonna be disappinted. But worth to try.
C.
Loved the huge variety and choice of dishes available. Definitely going back
L.
Two adults and two kids arrived during dinner time without a reservation but we managed to get a bar table facing the wall. We ordered popcorn chicken, fried squid, pork dumplings, chicken dumplings, rice and a tofu bao bun and pork belly bao bun. Our favourite was the pork dumplings but everything was tasty, full of flavour and arrived super quick. Highly recommended.
B.
Beautiful food all the courses are big and yummy. You can taste the dedication in each plate.
The free alcohol coctel are 10/10!
S.
I went to get takeaway but because of the atmosphere and friendliness of the staff I decided to stay and eat there. The phō was exactly what I wanted - warming and the broth full of flavour. Sticky rice dessert was delicious too. Will definitely be back next time I’m in Wellington!
A.
Old? Hardly. Quarter? Worth every buck.
Zoe and my experience here exceeded our expectations. For two indecisive people this restaurant provided our full needs. Absolutely will be coming back here to try more dishes and drinks. We went with the duck pineapple curry and duck orange salad. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐.
L.
My partner and myself both loved how tasty all the meals were here. Just make sure you book because this place is so popular.
R.
Really enjoyed the food and the environment, wish we had more places like this in hawkes bay. Will definitely visit next time were in Wellington.
M.
The Old Quarter is a great option if you’re not sure what you’re in the mood for - there’s a huge selection of delicious dishes and most of them are perfect for sharing. You could probably pick randomly while blindfolded and still come out more than satisfied. Among our most recent choices were pork belly bao buns, beef short rib, black tiger prawns, seasonal veges, and duck salad. Add in a couple of cocktails and we were well sorted! The speedy service is a definite bonus.
F.
Delicious food! Crab bao, chicken & shitake dumplings, sirloin salad & the lychini (Lychi martini) were amazing!
C.
Had a bunch of different courses and all of them were tasty as. Had a couple cocktails and they to were really good. Epic experience 👌
P.
The fresh spring rolls were very nice, especially with the sauce that comes with it. You could really taste the different ingredients. The steamed buns were a bit disappointing, could have been much better. Didn't like the Banh-Xeo (omelette), not much filling.
H.
What a fabulous restaurant. Beautiful service and a well prepared menu with lots of great flavours. Plates are shared and are delicious. The curry was amazing. Lots of gf, df, vegan and vegetarian options.
V.
The first Vietnamese restaurant that I tried in Wellington and in NZ so I have no comparison. But the flavours are lacking from being authentic having eaten Viet food prepared by Vietnamese.
Was having higher expectations because of many amazing reviews...
Aunty's juicy chicken wings were not well marinated. Can do with more seasoning and for a longer time. 6pcs at $16 was a bit pricey.
The pho and bun cha were ok.
R.
I have had a positive and consistent experience everytime I have been here for lunch or dinner. The food prices are so reasonable but amazing quality.
s.
So busy by everyday n lucky to have earlier bookings or else walk in not ok... luvs the place on r stoolbars, yummy foods n luvly staff(s) ae!❤
T.
The freshest, tastiest take on Vietnamese cuisine in the city. Every one of the 6 dishes we ordered was delicious, the drinks were unique and fitting, and the space has been done up extremely well - transforming the space into something that could well be one of the new inner city favourites...
M.
Just had a Delishhh dinner here :P Chicken Curry and Duck Curry were great. I also ordered a Mimosa which was very nice too.
But the reason I gave it a 4/5 is that I expect to receive either rice or bread when ordering a Curry but in this case we had to order the rice separately. I'd rather to pay a few bucks more for the meal to include plain rice at least (although it would only cost the restaurant a very small amount).
K.
Great food and great atmosphere.
M.
Super vegan options! We had the summer rolls, bao, and vegan green curry, definitely 5 stars. Lemongrass and coconut milk strong and yum :) Would be happy to come here again.
W.
Cosy place for Vietnamese food when it windy in Wellington. Service was slow but then place was packed on the weekend.
E.
Favourite restaurant by far in Wellington atm stunning food and amazing friendly service.
j.
Delicious pork bao bun as part of a value for money lunch special. They made a lovely rice dessert at lunchtime to meet our special request.
M.
As close to a Vietnamese experience you can get here in Welly! Their lunch deals are amazing! Pretty casual dining. Book in advance. It's pretty popular.
k.
Staffing was odd, was quite cramped, decor had typos and was placed crooked. Food was fine. Peach ice tea taste like lemon water.
A.
Really really nice vibe. I loved it at first sight. I will definitely go back. Highly recommend
L.
Good food. Friendly service. BBQ chicken baguette was nice. Be warned: their siracha mayo sauce is hot for a weakling (like me)!
t.
Really superb food, great service and excellent options for those with dietary requirements. I can't eat dairy and was pleased that nearly everything on their menu is dairy free. The mango sticky rice dessert is also one of the best desserts I've ever had.
F.
If you want excellent food and even better service look no further!
This is the second time that we’ve come here and it is absolutely amazing. We had the salt and pepper squid and creamy chicken curry and it was delicious! Dessert was the Mango Sticky Rice, which was the only dish I took a picture of cause I devoured the others! Come to The Old Quarter, you will not regret it! Make sure you book as walk ins can take a while to get seated.
H.
Good food! Would be awesome to have sauces readily available on the tables though, and to have some more vegetarian meals. From my experience the service was a bit average. Everyone was very friendly and accomodating, but it just seemed that everyone was in such a rush which didn't make it a relaxing atmosphere to be in. At one point it seemed like the waitress was slamming food items down on the table, not taking time to ask who had ordered what and just left a mess of dishes for us to sort out.
J.
The food was excellent, staff were very attentive and cost was as we expected.
Just a small note re the bathrooms. They were dirty and the layer of dust on the sinks told me that it had been a while since they were cleaned.
D.
Great tasting vietnamese food, good value for money, friendly helpful staff.
h.
Superb. The food here is of an exceptionally high standard and outstanding value for money. For takeaway prices you get better quality than most restaurants offer for double or triple the price. Everything I’ve tried tastes fresh and vibrant, full of flavour and most meals come with a variety of elements that complement each other cleverly. Having lived in Asia for a few years doesn’t make me an expert, but the food took me back in a flash and to me seems authentic - not so much like street food, but more like one of the better French Vietnamese restaurants you find all around Hanoi. Service has always been fast and friendly with dishes arriving piping hot. Ambience? I’m sure it’s fine but honestly I’m so excited for the food I never really notice. Top marks. This is one of my happy places.
A.
Great food, good quick service. Grandma's beef curry is melt-in-the-mouth delicious.
A.
Friendly staff and great atmosphere, I'm not normally a fan of fusion/modern Asian dining, but the food here is definitely a winner+ the watermelon mojito was super refreshing.
L.
Really great little cosy restaurant, the Vietnamese food was so good made with fresh products. You also have vegan or vegetarian options. Nice friendly staff.
L.
Great lunch for 15$. A lot of different choices(also vegan) and very creative!
R.
Great food, unexpected spicy. But delicious non the less.
M.
Had the most wonderful meal! Nice vibe, staff was friendly, the prices were reasonable and the portions were great! Would definitely recommend!
J.
Enjoyed lunch here this morning! Tried the pork dumplings with bao. The food was delicious! This place is buzzing and lunch time and I'm not surprised why. The food came out fast and was great value for money! Can not wait to visit again
M.
Awesomeness!. Great flavours and prices, yet another epic Asian dining option in Wellington
A.
To impatient....
Dived straight in...
Forgot to take the pic first.... *disclaimer - dishes 1/2 eaten before pic taken 🤣
Friendly and helpful staff,
Quick service.
H.
Delicious curry and pho. Service was friendly and fast.
T.
Good food, good service and a good turnover of customers. Definitely worth a try.
N.
I'm obsessed with the Bun Cha here, it's my go too so it's hard to try other things but can confirm the pho is also really tasty! Also love the $15 lunch deal.. probably my fav Vietnamese in Wellington. Staff are friendly and great at keeping you hydrated! Keep it up chef!
B.
Great food, awesome service and fabulous atmosphere. Extensive drink and food menu, staff were very attentive and accommodating; really appreciated their assistance with our allergy kid. Looking forward to our next meal here.
R.
I had a Friday lunch there with friends who had recommended it to me. It was an excellent recommendation I ordered the chicken curry dish which came with a bowl of steamed rice. The curry sauce had a consistency between a soup and a chowder. With my first spoonful I was rather impressed. This is without doubt one of the best chicken curries I've had.
The establishment must be popular as it was full to capacity. My friends would have known of its popularity as they had booked our table. Only 2 tables weren't reserved but they were snapped up in no time.
I'll definitely revisit to sample another dish.
F.
Super friendly staff and incredible delicious food! Would definitely recommend it! The vegan dishes are fantastic!
A.
Yum yum I love their 15 dollar lunches sooo much.
S.
Delicious fresh Vietnamese food. Great cocktails and excellent service
M.
Absolutely Delicious I loved it food was incredible the restaurant was stunning!
P.
This is my favorite place for lunch and dinner, Delicious food always
T.
Delicious food a very busy eatery. The staff were attentive and friendly.
W.
First time visit and I was pleasantly surprised. Will be going back. The meals were well portioned and full of flavor. Bravo
F.
Great food , helpful and pleasant staff who were professional and friendly and happy to accommodate an allergy , or change out meat for tofu -definitely recommend for a family or group
E.
Love this place! Love the lunch special as the portions are the same for a fraction of the price. Must-haves: grandma's curry, softshell crab bao, and the chicken wings
N.
I took my friends here and they love it. The food was amazing. We had the crab bao bun and bun cha and rare beef pho.
K.
This was so good! Great service, delicious food - so awesome
A.
We have enjoyed a couple of really great meals here over the past couple of months (Oct/Dec), firstly as a couple, then as a group of 5. Both times, we have been well impressed with the variety of flavours and textures on offer, with each dish vying for favourite of the night. B.
Really worth coming to wellington for delicious fresh food quick service good environment
S.
Great menu and fusion of eastern flavors... Staff are awesome and manage the restaurant well given how busy it gets.
Menu also holds strong with desserts, the panna cotta is a good enough reason to go back as well 😊
Highly recommended.
J.
Food was absolutely amazing! Would have given 5 stars , but the desert Banh flan at $13 was the let down. My dining partner and I both took one small spoonful of it each, and left it, as it didn't taste very nice. Paid for it though. Recommend to all, but can't recommend the desert.
A.
Great fast service and the food was amazing. Will visit again when back in Wellington
S.
Vibrant and very busy Vietnamese restaurant, food was great and service good despite how busy it was. Highly recommended but make sure you book.
I.
Thus place will served you One of the Best Vietnamese Cuisine
T.
Excellent food, service, decor and atmosphere... A must visit in Wellington.
S.
Excellent and quick service. Loved the food!
R.
We were thrilled when we found The Old quarter, a Vietnamese restaurant in central Wellington. The place was very busy but the helpful wait staff put us on a list and generously telephoned when there was a space available. The food was outstanding. Quick turnaround from ordering to delivery, beautiful flavours and awesome reminders of stunning Vietnam. Highly recommended.
B.
Amazing, authentic Vietnamese food, just like in Vietnam. Lots to choose from, so there is something for everyone, including food to share if you wish. Friendly and helpful staff, great cocktails, and nice atmosphere.
P.
Haven’t even left yet and I’m still hoping to come back. Everything was absolutely delish, perfect flavours, lovely service. Gonna go to bed and think about your cashew duck and soft shell crab bao 😍
S.
Ok vegan options. Vegan feast is $40 each and is A L O T of food
N.
Food is delicious and lots of options for vegetarians, great atmosphere . Sad thing is that after we finished our meal they didn’t offer us any more drinks or deserts and basically only came back to clear our plates , felt like we were being forced to leave even though the restaurant was still half full ..
The one weird thing about this place is the drinks menu , the mango maitai advertised as mango rum cinnamon and mint came as pulpy mango juice with a chilli in it .
I then order the Saigon sour which tasted like keg ice breaker I used to drink when I was 18 . Something was not right there .
Also one of the sparking wines was advertised à as tasting like brioche and creamy lemon ?!?!
S.
Good food and beverages. Cocktails are amazing.
N.
Went for the $15 lunch special, which is well priced and tasted good. The staff were pretty inattentive and it took a long time to get service, even though it wasn’t busy - so they are lacking that area. For these reasons, I’d be likely to only come for the $15 lunch special as opposed to dinner. Also, they misspelled their website URL link on all their posters in the restaurant, unless they are in fact called “The Old Quater”.
G.
Delicious food and my waiter was sooo lovely 🙂
w.
Food was awesome! However we had to wait for aaaages even though the place was empty when we ordered
T.
Fresh fun Vietnamese food. Always a solid option for something light. Can never decide between the grandma's beef and the tropical duck curries! Both highly recommended
L.
Absolutely loved the BAO!
B.
Went here last night and it was a fantastic experience. The staff were excited and friendly, the food was delicious, the serving sizes were big, and the range of dairy free items (very important in my family) was expansive and impressive. I will definitely be going back time and time again.
J.
Great variety of dishes. Good service. Recommended.
J.
Lovely soft and flavorful bao buns. Some items are spicy so make sure to ask.
F.
Amazing staff and service, and great food to go with it.
D.
Amazing food! Loved it!
H.
Beef short ribs were delicious, tender and a generous serving, great dish for sharing. Rest of the food looked great! Would recommend. However, the cocktail I had was a miss. Stick to wine or beer.
J.
New and authentic. Super busy so you may need to book. Good location near to the Cuba street area. Lots of other restaurants and cafes nearby but it remains full so it's doing a good job. Food was super-fresh and very tasty. Lots of standard Vietnamese dishes. Good beer options too. Staff were helpful and accommodating. We'll visit again soon. Thank you
L.
Went for lunch. We’re seated quickly and server was very attentive. Lunch menu is great value too. Will be back.
J.
Enjoyed our beef curry, and desserts of ice cream, mousse and sticky rice pudding.
C.
Delicious food! Probably the best Vietnamese/fusion food I've had in Wellington. We enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere too.
J.
Lots of yummy options to choose from.... Will definitely be worth going back to for several visits to try then all out. Creamy chicken curry was a definite hit with my wife.
J.
We’ve been here a few times and it’s consistently great. Today they outdid themselves with the Festival dish.
Staff are fab - onto it, friendly and knowledgeable.
One of my Wellington faves for sure.
Busy spring first or book so you aren’t disappointed
p.
It all tastes good and its presented beautifully but the prices for what you get are astronomical. Probably won't go back because I could get the same quality of food at home for about the same price but make enough to feed multiple people.
A.
Very delicious, pork belly was perfect texture and taste, great presentation, desserts and cocktails went down a treat all very well priced
R.
Best bun cha in wellington
R.
Food was soooo good!! Flavours are amazing and the presentation is also fantastic, thanks, we will be back shortly
B.
Ordered some food and after a little mix up they did a second delivery without charge. The bao buns and chicken and mango salad were absolutely amazing. Love this place!
T.
Great food, we had Grandma's beef curry and the mango salad. Both were delicious! Would highly recommend
J.
Absolutely brilliant food. Recommended by a friend and didn't disappoint. Food was very quick out, priced very well and tasted delicious. Highly recommended.
J.
The Old Quarter is currently one of my favourite spots in Wellington. I have eaten their a number of times in the past few months and it has been consistently good everytime. The chicken baos are always soft and the chicken crispy. I am not sure if they pickle the veges in it but whatever they do it is great! I love their Chicken Curry, its so creamy and flavourful, I love spicy and unfortunately its not very spicy but they manage to pack so much flavour into it anyway. Their cocktail menu is pretty decent also! I recommend booking as I have never been able to walk in to get a table within 30 mins (obviously a great sign that they are that busy)
R.
Very good food, very good service
P.
This place is new in Dixon Street. We ordered shared plates of Bun Cha Hanoi and Caramelized pork belly and salad and they were melt in the mouth. So beautiful and so tasty. I very well recommended this place to everyone. I'll love to go there often.
J.
This place is ridiculously good. Great cocktails and insane value for money. I'm coming back and bringing a posse. Super impressed
J.
First time visit. My daughter took me for the lunch special. Place was booked out but we managed to get 2 tall seats by the window. Great food. Sad that people booked and didnt show so empty tables reserved.
E.
Definitely favourite spot in Wellington for food, amazing dishes every time. Drinks are great too!
g.
Good food, excellent salad , fast service , reasonably priced

This Vietnamese food restaurant is located over Dixon Street. Easily accessible.
Well managed and maintained.
Pleasant and helpful staff. Well timed service with a smile.
Plentiful food options including dedicated sections for vegan and vegetarian ones. Fresh preparations.
Food is delicious. We enjoyed Dripping Vietnamese Coffee the most among drinks.
Table service. Offers takeaways.
Limited seating arrangement and it can be a problem during busy hours, especially during evening when you may have to wait anywhere from 15-35 minutes. Therefore reservations are recommended.
PayWave facility is available at this location.
First thing you may notice after entering into this restaurant is strong cooking odour.
Outdoor seating is not available.
Could not notice wheelchair accessible seating or high chair in plain view at this location.
There is no dedicated parking area available for this restaurant.
Entrance is wheelchair accessible.
M.
We ordered home delivery through deliver easy. Order total was over $80 for 2 people. We were very disappointed with portion size, which wasn’t really sufficient for two for dinner. It might be better if you are ordering in and paying for the atmosphere. For reference, we ordered a pork bao bun, stir fried seasonal vege, twice cooked ribs, a crying tiger, and what I think were the dumplings (but looked more like money bags to me).
D.
Oh yes! Awesome food and drinks!
G.
Food was ok but oddly came out at very different times for us dining, and why no one ask if i want a second drink?
D.
Great test and friendly service
I.
Fantastic service, chicken bao buns, lamb curry and summer rolls were all delicious. Will be back! 👏
S.
Finally another place in Wellington that has a good pho & bun bo hue. Came here with a friend and his son on Monday night, had mixed feelings due to the menu (bit judgemental on my part), but it surprised me, food was great. My friend the pho and myself the bun no hue, broth was excellent, well seasoned and you can really taste the meatiness of the both but at the same time it was still lite. Also ordered the chicken wings, papaya salad and the seasonal veges all were fantastic and in my opinion, well portioned for the price. Wait staff were great too!

We just got some bao buns and caramelised pork delivered with Uber eats. Wow! This was amazing! So much flavour! Crispy, sticky, moist, soft, fresh. Every bite was on point. I’ll definitely be going in for more.
A.
Food was awesome! Staff seemed to have a hard time smiling though.
J.
Great Vietnamese food. Fast service/ delivery of what we ordered. Reasonable pricing and portions ample, especially if sharing dishes. Will be back
M.
Great welcome, fast food sercice, everything tasty, no return to table to offer more drinks or food. It was late though.
M.
This place is always pack and it can be hard to get a table. But that is for a good reason; the food here is amazing! I highly recommend the pork bao with a cold beer to get your evening started.
L.
Omg! Seriously faarkin absolutely amazing food. The pork belly was the shiznet, and so were the spare ribs. Also had a bubble of each of my friends meals and they were amazing too, dumplings and zucchini corn fritters all fantastic. This place really has something for everyone plus good service and reasonably priced. Best pork belly to date.
C.
Yum. Will definitely go again. Reasonable prices too. Great for sharing if you want lots of variety.
S.
Me and my friend went to The Old Quarter for dinner. I ordered Soft Shell Crab and Crying Tiger. The Soft Shell Crab was one of best I have tried in Wellington and the Crying Tiger was light, fresh and yum. We both like spicy and hot food, and we both were more than satisfied with the dishes we ordered. Definitely going back to try more dishes.
D.
Delicious food, a lovely ambience, friendly and helpful wait staff. My only quibble was that the rice that had to be ordered separately ended up arriving a wee while after my main, but due to the shared nature of all the meals this wasn't as big a deal as it otherwise could have been.
J.
Excellent Vietnamese food - good cocktails! 😊
K.
First time came here after hearing a lot of compliments about this place. We had a Bun Cha Ha Noi and of course, a Pho. I have a habit to test every Vietnamese restaurant with their pho. But pho here is actually not so good to my taste, quite bad actually. On the other hand, Bun Cha Ha Noi is excellent. Perfect nuoc mam, and beautiful marinating of the grill pork. Service is excellent too.
So although the pho failed me but still give it a 5 stars.
Z.
Great service, delecious meals. Love it
M.
Asian fusion at its best! With awesome professional chefs, The Old Quarter brilliantly presents the best of Asian cuisines: Bao buns from China. Pho soups from Viet Nam. Coconut cream and stock-based curries from Thailand and Cambodia. Banh Mi baguettes. Dumplings. Super fresh salads. Unique non-alcohol fruit cocktails and a full-service bar including top shelf international and domestic wines; a nice selection of New Zealand craft beers; Sapporo from Japan on tap and unique alcohol cocktails like a watermelon mojito and a lemon chilli passion fruit margarita.
There are also fun desserts like tiramisu and a dark chocolate caramel mousse for that sweet sensation. Whether you're a meat-lover, vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free or allergy-sensitive, The Old Quarter will customise any dish. And really great value too! The lunch specials are amazing with heaping portions at a friendly price. I visited for lunch and had the vegan special: Coconut cream green curry. A tofu-based fresh summer roll with nice dipping sauces. A bowl of jasmine rice. And mango sticky rice pudding for dessert. My gosh! So seriously delicious. I could tell this place is the real deal when I saw the chefs carefully making up my individual serving of green curry. The Old Quarter knows it has to be even better than excellent to survive in the extraordinarily competivie Wellington restaurant scene and the chefs go the extra mile to make sure everything is perfect. The wait staff are friendly, helpful and attentive. This is a New Zealand go-to restaurant. One to return to again and again.
A.
The food is incredible and staff friendly and helpful, as I had come from the airport with my suitcase they offered to store it for me while I was there. Will definitely return! FYI you can also order from Uber Eats here!
A.
Beautiful food, friendly staff and excellent beer on tap. I'll definitely come here again. The Vietnamese food here is medium price but really very good. Check it out!
E.
Went for dinner, the food was delicious, service was quick and staff were helpful/ kind. Thoroughly recommend. Particularly enjoyed the corn fritters and Peking duck.
M.
Delicious food, prompt and pleasant service, good selection of GF options for our coeliac daughter.
D.
Amazing food everytime. Love their $15 lunch special, the hanoi meal is amazing. Always so fresh & tasty. Would eat there everyday if my bank balance allowed me. Keep up the great food!
D.
Amazing. The 3 best cocktails I've ever had in my life were given to me by a lovely English woman who picked them for. My favorite was the 20th century she made me. Would totally wife her if she was single.
J.
Superb food. Simply delicious. I could dine here every day 👍
B.
My meal was delicious, but not really worth the price (I had the vegetarian green curry with rice).
S.
The staff were nice enough but I have no idea why everyone is praising their food so much. It was okay considering the price point
S.
Delicious. They've changed up their menu quite a bit and now offer more vegan and vegetables options than when they open so will be back. Beer selection was okay. Staff are friendly.
J.
Everything we had was awesome. Everything. When we come back to Welly next this is on the list, definitely.
W.
Yummy Asian fusion style food
M.
Good food & very friendly staff
E.
Food is fantastic and so fresh full of flavors. You really feel like its authentic. Such a neat little restuarant in a great location. Will definitely be going back
M.
I love the creamy chicken curry here!
Best to book as its always busy, super fast service and amazing friendly staff :)
J.
the food were good except the fried squid was a bit too salty. The service on the other hand was not ok. There were three waitresses, an asian girl, a blonde kiwi girl and a dark hair kiwi girl that day. The asian girl was walking around filling customers' water glasses but skipped my table. The blonde girl was the worst, even though I asked everything politely she still gave me and my friends attitude and she was literally throwing our food on the table (she could be the owner because I saw her using her laptop at the back). The dark hair kiwi girl gave fantastic service thus I tipped her at the end.
R.
Seriously yummy food. But why can we only book after 8:15pm when it's open well before then?
S.
This place used to be good, but I wouldn't rate it anymore. Thier standards have dropped significantly, but the waiter was kinda funny when he subtly gave us the bill after being there 2 hours. Unlikely to return.
P.
cafe style, low prices, great vietnamese food. what's not to like? granted this is not a place for western desserts but wellington has plenty of other places for that. pays to book.
l.
Great cocktails and dumplings!
C.
Really tasty street food. Service is usually a bit so - so but never offensive. They keep serving and seating people until quiet late.

G.
Went there for first time with my girlfriend birthday and friends. Food was nice and not to expensive..Although NOT BYO but licenced and bottle of wine was expensive . Would have second thoughts on revisiting

Y.
A bit pricy but food tastes very good. I liked bun cha and Vietnamese coffee!
C.
Great and yummy $15 lunch deals. Managed to beat the crowd as place was full
J.
I gave 3 and a half stars - Pho is not better as at Saigon Taste but dearer , however acceptable , so as Bun Cha . A communist flag or symbol on the menu will distance some .
R.
Great food, vegetarian options sparse. Ticks all the pho boxes and does a few unusual dishes such as salmon hot pot
m.
Super great staff and super great food. I've never left disappointed or unhappy, keep it up guys!
