J.We had the high tea, hosted by Moira (who was so fantastic!!!) All the lovely loose leaf teas you can drink, which she brewed for us throughout the experience. Excellent food, not sure how they managed strawberries in June. Highly recommend if you want a cute date. 🏳️🌈
B.My 2nd time to have high tea at Whitby. Everything is perfect. Bottomless tea selection -- very generous! One of the best high tea place in Wellington. Will definitely visit again. :)

J.It's fine. Bulk-cooked food served in a restaurant setting with friendly and attentive staff. There's no drinks in buffet other than water, tea and coffee. The view from the 17th floor is nice but unremarkable. I didn't leave feeling like the price was worth it. The flavours and textures tasted more like hired catering than a resident kitchen.
T.Best breakfast buffet in wellington, hands down. variety of options for kids.. they love going here. very good ambience and space in terms of seating and views. the chef makes hot omelette in the bar. All of this and just 26$.. great deal for wellington standards. Good day out with family!
T.Informal dining in a formal setting with beautiful views, lovely food and fantastic service. We chose the smorgasbord but there is also a beautiful a la carte menu too. We were there at 9pm for dinner on a Thursday night after it came up as a recommendation on Google. There was a piano player and if you're in the James Cook hotel it can be charged back to your room. Highly recommended.

L.Very good buffet lunch. Hot soups, rolls, lots of veggies and meat/fish/seafood options. Roasted veggies were my fav! Also lots of sweets to accompany your tea/coffee including fruits, dried fruits and nuts. Definitely worth 35$ you'll have to pay. Nice view over the CBD as a bonus.
V.Quite a good place to enjoy good food and desserts. Buffet is a little bit pricey though if you are not a big eater. Nice live music compliments the dining experience.

J.All you can eat Buffet. The food was amazing especially the desert section. Service was great. Atmosphere was calm. The price is great for the amount of food one can consume.

R.We chose to go to Whitby's to celebrate my father birthday and eat in a quality restaurant. We chose not to get the buffet and selected our meals. I have to say it was up there with the best risotto I have ever had. I can only think of one other time. My family ate steak and also said there meals were delicious. The service was also great and we had a memorable night out.

N.Been here a few times, everything's pretty consistent for the dinner buffet. As a vegetarian the fare is usually pretty lacklustre - it's rather uncommon to have any vegetarian centrepiece dishes available on the buffet, so just sides, salads, roast veggies really. Dessert is usually pretty good. And can't really argue with the price. It's a pity this is about as good as it gets in Wellington for a dinner buffet!

P.Whitby Restaurant and Bar is located in James Cook Hotel, and is a very nice place to be. The buffet good is beautifully cooked and presented, backed with excellent service.
The only reason I haven't given it a fifth star is the cost of parking in the hotel parking building....... $20.00 for 2.5 hours, I feel is rather excessive!

S.We visited for a Surprise 40th Birthday for a work colleague. It has been a number of years since we last visited and the decor has been updated which makes it a lot more inviting.
The food at the buffet selection was very nice, e.g noodles, sushi, roast potatoes, fish, pasta, peas. Great dessert options too with ice cream cones, pavlova etc..
L.We came here, for girls night out. (without our kids.) Excellent service, food was great. My 3 other friends love it too. Definitely come back next time.
B.Went here for the buffet dinner, good range of choices and very very tasty. Deserts are great too. Highly recommend, just be careful when paying though, we were charged too much on 2 of our visits, second time we were onto it and had it corrected. Still highly recommend.

B.It's not cheap, but sometimes you do have to pay for quality. The selection, presentation and taste of the Whitby's buffet has got to be the best in Wellington. Meats of every kind, salads of many varieties, breads, soups, cheeses....and the desserts...wow. The range caters well for people of all ages - young, old and in between. At about 7pm an elderly gent turned up to play some incredible, soft, elegant music on the beautiful piano in the middle of the restaurant. As it so happened, he is also blind, which made what we heard even more remarkable. Family has requested to return here and we most definately will.

Normally buffet with good variety of food and drinks are on offer including soup, entrée, mains, desserts and salads. Delicious food and good presentation.
There is big hall for group events.
Pleasant and efficient staff. Service with smile.
Beautiful ambiance and awesome view of CBD. Cozy and comfortable atmosphere.
Good for groups, family, kids and celebrations.
Ample hotel parking space.
Wheelchair parking is available and there is wheelchair accessible entrance.

P.Beautiful view from level 17 of James Cook Hotel. It's a self help Buffet menu with lots of choices to choose from. There's a variety of seafood, hot dishes, two choices of soups, roast beef or ham on the bone, lots of deserts to enjoy and tea & coffee. So much food you can eat.

E.Just attended a lovely 21st birthday lunch. Had amazing food even while on the keto/gluten free life! Plenty of options even with desserts on offer! Thank you to our waiting staff especially Thomas and the biggest thanks go to our chef Elfonse(excuse spelling) who saved the day when our birthday cake looked worse for wear after our trip from Lower Hutt. You rock! Looked better than we could have hoped and in the birthday boy's words "it was a beast". I think that's a good thing lol. Thanks again!
