Their signature Portside big breakfast is probably one of the best big breakfast I ever had. Every single element on there are perfectly cooked, the tomato has that natural acidity to balance the saltiness from the generously cut bacon, the mushrooms is in harmony with the bratwurst sausages and caramelised onions. The sourdough is perfectly baked in company with two free range eggs. This is a whole new level of the traditional big kiwi breakfast. Well done PortSide Bistro & Bar. I will certainly be back for more!

What a menu, it was stunning,can order from the blackboard specials, to the printed menu,Matt and the wait staff were great, the food came out pretty quick as there were 10 of us, and we all ate together, no waiting, very popular, and very busy, but nothing was to much trouble . Well done Portside, we will be back.

First visit to Portside and was very impressed. Hadn’t made a booking but only had to wait 15mins for a table. The cocktail selection was extensive and well made. The staff and service was quick and efficient. The food and portions sizes were huge! Highly recommend this place.

Omg I've lived in NZ a few months now and this is one of the best places I've ever eaten. We came in between the Fish N Chips hours on Friday unfortunately but got a beautiful snack spread with flatbread and tea. They were very accommodating of my dietary restrictions too. If you are coming through this is a wonderful place to stop!

This place was a pleasant surprise for lunch. Menu online just looked like standard pub grub, but the two daily specials that we tried were top-notch, made-from-scratch meals with good portion size. Well worth the walk across town since we had planned to go to several other places first, but didn't find anything of interest. Will be back the next time we are passing through.

This is the one bright light in Westport! That and the beach! Lunch or dinner here makes the trip down that much more bearable! Not many places around the top of the south/west coast with the same consistency. Even got a kitten to keep you company while you wait for your meal. Recommend booking as this place is very busy!

Best meal I've ever had. Battered Terakihi, delicious fresh salad, chips & a glass of wine. $22 The meal was so large I took home a doggy bag that meant I got 2meals for price of one. The Terakihi & chips reheated well in the microwave. The service was friendly, professional & faultless. Restaurant was spotless. Thank you for a wonderful birthday lunch out. Christina🌹🌹🌹

I'm giving PortSide Bistro & Bar ticks all the boxes. Host staff are friendly and helpful. The restaurant is warm and has plenty of space. The meals were top tier for the price. I would highly recommend to other diners.

I've been here before! Still owned by the same owners last 3 1/2 years and still a fresh experience. We arrived between service so missed out. Had some very tasty snacks. However highly recommended breakfast just fantastic for meat lovers just as it should be! Great work guys and good luck for a busyseason.

This place is in no way a Bistro. It is a restaurant with table service. We found the soup of the day was flavoursome and of good value though. Fish of the day was definitely too expensive for what was offered. (We were looking for vegetables too but sadly no, not available here) Desserts too were over priced. Staff were very friendly and professional. Sadly this is the only failed place on our travels around the South Island.😔😔😔

Today meal trio of seafood was beautifully presented however lacked seasoning.the squid needed to be chard was tender but needed that char on it the fish cakes lacked seasoning suggest a hint of chilli and coriander. The prawns were delicious didnt need the avocado mash under them. Little more citrus would have enhanced the fish over all it would be a 7 out of 10.

Had a fantastic meal here while on holiday! Matt was my bartender/host and provided top notch service! I had a delicious Venison dinner with sides and the Pumpkin Seed Coleslaw as an appetizer. He even paired a red wine very well with my Venison! Highly recommended for anyone visiting Westport!

First try's can be a bit a hit and miss. I was looking forward to a fish dish as this is the West Coast and when you can't get Whitebait you get fish. Others on the table went for the Burger which was massive! The fish dish came but instead of tasting the fish I tasted sweet and sour sauce. Which as a dish was fine, but not the fish experience you want as a first dinner meal in Westport. Would I go back. Absolutely! This is your West coast restaurant with all the staple options on the menu, lamb, steak and of course fish and chips. I'll go for the other fish dish to get my Westport fish fix.

Had lunch today at Portside Bistro and once again absolutely beautiful. I had the Chicken burger and my mate had the pan fried fish. Service was great highly recommend coming here for a meal. Great prices awesome food and a relaxed atmosphere 5 stars from me.

This is the place to dine...coffee was delicious and having a daily burger is a great option. Staff are really lovely and helpful...they helped a tourist who wanted to hitch hike to Greymouth by telling her the best place to start. Interior really compliments the 1930's exterior. A must to visit !

Took the missus out for date night and had a lovely time .. the girls were friendly and offered up a great service .. we both had the steak and bacon burger .. it was cooked well with plenty of flavour.. the bun was a let down but the cold speights made up for it ... price was on par and the atmosphere was cozy ... will be going back for sure .... thanks guys ..

Nice little gem found in Westport. Had the Bistro Burger, and as someone who has had more than my fair share of burgers, this was something else. Had no choice but to use a knife and fork, and feared I might havr had to ask for a doggy bag.
