Authentic. Tasty. Ordered the small lamb falafal with hummus and mint sauce. Generous helping. Most prices in the mid-teens. Take away or cosy, comfortable seating area. Friendly service.

The best value for money , tastiest, most generous meal we’ve ever had. The owner was so pleasant. I don’t know how he makes a profit. Husband wants to move to Whakatane so he can eat here every night.

Lovely food, very fresh, always delivered with a smile. You can sit down and enjoy the moment, or order takeaway. Kebabs are delicious, and so are the sweets for dessert.

The Gallipoli is across King St from the Pak n Save supermarket. There is ample parking behind the shops, off the side streets. Inside, the front part of the restaurant is set up like a takeaway, but past the till there are several tables. Nothing fancy, but comfortable. We ordered an iskender (rice dish with salads, hummus, sauces and shaved meat) and a salad lamb 'kebab' which is basically an iskender without the rice. We're used to the portions at the Ataturk in The Strand and we were surprised when our plates arrived and they looked to be almost double the amount of food as the Ataturk for the same money ($15 each for a large). We loved the food...... But we're also easily pleased by fresh salad, yummy hummus and beetroot salad and the shaved lamb. I'd recommend the Gallipoli. It's decor is very different to the Ataturk (only other kebab place in Whakatane), but no less pleasant as far as we were concerned.

This place was 10mins walk from the hotel I was staying. Ordered mixed meat Iskender dine in around 5pm. Steady flow of customers while there. Massive, very tasty meal! Was even offrred water. Highly recommend.

Best kebab outlet in whakatane. Try their Iskandar rice meal and kebab box with hot chili and aioli sauce is the must try. Portion size with respect to price is really good.
