Well!!! This joint must have a new chef (or something), as the food was unbelievably nice. (We got takeout last night). Far better than the very average and ingredient compromised attempts they used to serve up since they have been open. Forget about those reviewers who have no idea about what constitutes excellent fare and continually give mediocre establishments rave reviews, thereby misleading punters. It is these reviews that then misguidedly make the restaurant owner complacent and accepting of the rubbish produced by their kitchen. Let's hope this new culinary commitment to properly reflecting what good Thai food should taste like, continues.

Great food. Fast and friendly service. Had to rush with our order due to low number of other customers, felt a little rushed; however, the food is delicious.

Fantastic little gem, tucked away at the corner of the Strand. Their food is very authentic. I have never had a better red duck curry before!!! Would highly recommend giving it go. Their prices are reasonable and their service is very warm and friendly.

Food presentation was very lacklustre. Alcohol was over priced. $16 bottle of Church Road was $45! Atmosphere was not very 'Thai'. We asked the servers two questions about the food which they didn't know the answers to. No mirror in the mens bathroom. On the up sides: Mains pricing was very good. The food came out in good time, and the servers, while not knowledgeable about the food they were serving, were nice. I asked for 'Thai hot', and my main was actually spicy, so well done here.

Very clean and friendly restaurant. Only downside was that the chief was uncompromising when it came to requesting vegetarian options. Also their menu and especially the 'tablets' that the waiter's carry around for taking orders needs more flexible options. Otherwise very good!

Went here for Valentine’s Day , Drinks took 20 minutes to arrive followed by meals , then caught a waitress as she passed ordered another 2 drinks as no one asked if we wanted another drink , and then the drinks finally came ,by that time we had both finished our meals so sent them back Went up to pay and what I think was the owners quiet rude to deal with Won’t be back in a hurry

The place is confused, it's a Thai restaurant with tables in straight lines which looks like an old office block. Nothing screams Thailand when you walk in. The place also had a another menu printed on A4 paper with steak and more kiwi offerings which is odd. They seem a bit confused as to what they are. Food was ok but I wouldn't come back. I'm a bit confused by the 4.2 star rating and expected more but each to their own. Was a good meal but nothing special like other Thai places I've been

Just went out to dinner at Global Thai to celebrate our 20th Wedding Anniversary. 20 years ago we had our wedding reception upstair where we were, which was then called Go Global Thanks to Chintana and the team at Global Thai for a lovely meal and a celebratory gift to mark the occasion.

I thought the waiting staff were great. They responded positively to comments about the food suggesting it's preferable that anything that isn't quite right be mentioned straightaway so that it can be dealt with immediately. I would personally do that but other members of our party were too shy maybe? Better to let the kitchen staff know and they can then remedy the situation. Much better than saying nothing then going away and dissing the restaurant!! I loved my meal. It was very tasty, the rice was cooked beautifully and the vegetables were cooked just right. Thank you.

Yummy Thai food and a European menu for those that don't spicey. 7 of us had a meal there,some of us had 3 course while the others only had 2. Even with the drinks we had it was still only $401. GreT service great value.

The food is good, the atmosphere is okay. However. The service is somewhat terrible most times that I have been there with long waits to be served to the point we once waited half an hour after our main course to be asked about dessert. Also, the meal is served with a plate of rice in the shape of a star with two peas for eyes and a slice of red onion to make a smile, turning what is otherwise a fantastic looking dish into a juvenile craft project.

We got takeaways here the other night for my birthday, they were delicious as always, fast and super friendly. They even gave me a box of chocolates with a Happy Birthday note ! Made my evening !! Highly recommend.

What a great restaurant we come across in Whakatane. Delicious meals and we tried the deep fried ice cream. The only thing would be the bright white fluorescent lighting (which still gives them 5 stars) they needed ambient lighting for dining at night.
