Best Indian food we have had at an Indian takeaway in NZ. We were visiting from Nelson for my brothers wedding. We came back for seconds the next night. Definitely the taste of Indian home cooking. The wait was about an hour but so worth it! We had been told to plan for the extra wait so no issues at all. Just ordered a good hour before the kids got hungry. Will definitely come back when we come to visit again. Thank you so much for two amazing dinners that the whole family loved.

I would rate this the best & freshest in Whanganui. Lovely family who provides great customer service. Thank you (pic of butter prawn mild. yum) *Tip* We always phone order about half hr - 1hr in advance because it's made fresh. Soooo much better than the Auckland Indian takeaways I use to order from.

Tried this place for the first time yesterday, the lunch special is good value for money. We had the beef vindaloo medium yesterday, was very good. Just now I finished my butter lamb (mild) and it was bloody delicious!!! 👌 Just like the name says, no lies there. It's soo creamy, stupid creamy, and the lamb is so soft. Highly recommend ☺️

Best Indian food we’ve ever had in NZ by far. Owned by a lovely and generous family this place has become our regular takeaway spot. We order 40mins - 1hr before bc everything is made fresh to order but definitely worth the wait. Great prices too

I've rated this restaurant 5 stars for a few reasons. Personally this is my favorite place to get curries from, the staff are friendly and are quite inviting. The food itself is very reasonably priced, especially compared to other restaurants, the curry is full of flavor and very delicious and creamy. They nail the spice where a medium truly feels like a medium spice. The curries are usually enough to last me a full dinner and a lunch the next day. I wouldn't go anywhere else if I was looking to have a curry.

Amazing flavourful authentic food. None of those bland creamy tasteless curries which most takeaways serve up as an excuse for Indian food, this is delicious, with specific flavours for each dish; and served by friendly people. You might have to wait a wee bit when it's super busy, as they cook fresh every order - but the wait is worth it.

Excellent food and service, I'm now a regular customer. As a good an Indian restaurant as I've had in New Zealand. One dish will easily serve three people. The vegetarian is especially good. It also keeps well and tastes as good days later. Make sure you order 45mins before you intend to pick up.

I have dietary restrictions making it incredibly hard and expensive, to find places where I can eat. After explaining, the chef was very helpful in showing what meals are safe for me to eat and what ingredients are used instead. And the taste is phenomenal! So good!

Amazing! We had butter chicken, chicken madras, plain naan and garlic naan and everything was delicious! The sauces were thick, creamy and full of fragrance and flavour. The portions are really big, so we had it for dinner yesterday and the rest for lunch today. (And we eat a lot!) The older man at the counter was very nice.

First time there after checking reviews,close to home too I got the lamb korma,and wife mango chicken,they make it from scratch so prepare for half and hour wait or phone an order in. I have to say the rice was fluffy and moist naans nicely cooked too,now to the currys both were creamy nice and thick plenty of meat in each so much so we could have just got one, Beautiful and flavoursome looks like mums recipes ,the shop is neat and tidy the staff are great, No problem recommending to all.

Delicious North Indian Takeaways in Gonville is the jewel in the crown of Whanganui takeaway food. It is magnificent, with a great range of flavoursome dishes. All are prepared authentically and attentively by Nirpaljit and Surjit, with a wide array of vegetarian options. I cannot speak highly enough of the service and the delicious range of food at Delicious North Indian Takeaways.

We were advised by friends to try Delicious North Indian after they raved about it. They had told us it was superior to another indian restaurant in town we frequented. Well it did not disappointment. DNI is possibly the best indian we have ever eaten, and we are foodies. Great detail in the flavours and what I imagine authentic indian cuisine to taste like. The garlic an cheese nan bread and butter chicken are definite stand out performers. The butter chicken has a fantastic creamy authentic tomato flavor that sets it apart from anything else in town. The nan bread is very aromatic ,with a gorgeous texture and full of indian herbs n spices, that also sets it apart from others we have tried. it's just the attention to detail in the flavours we really appreciate. Portion sizes are generous plus the prices are fair. The staff are very personable and friendly. We are officially converted.

Great taste Prices are great as well, definitely beats picking up pizza or MacDonald's for the family, rivalling menu items from most Chinese shops, fish and chip deals are cheaper. A single dish is more often then not sufficient to feed a person, and for those hungry there is always naan.
