Brilliant decor, as good as the food. Tacos were fresh with an amazing blend of flavours, suicide chicken was perfectly hot and cooked to perfection. This from people who don't usually eat Mexican because its usually average to poor in New Zealand. A must visit in Whanganui!

Hard to find good Mexican in NZ but this place was great. A little bit of fusion Mexican but pretty close.

I've been to La Quattro several times in the last couple of years and always enjoy it. ✅ Great variety. ✅ Separate vegan menu. ✅ Gluten free options. ✅ Nice quick service. ✅ Yummy Kai! My favourites are the pork tacos, beef cheek tacos, southern chicken, and ribs. The vegan options are awesome too. Would be nice to see a better designed kids menu, like a small serve of a protein with chips for $10 as it doesn't cater well to young children who don't eat much. The thing that impresses me most is that they are continually working improve their food and service. Gets better every visit 😉

Recommended. We shared four soft-shelled tacos (cauliflower, fish, lamb and coffee beef) between two and were comfortably full. Our wait staff were attentive without being overwhelming and looked after us well. We tried the drink special - lychee margherita 🍹 - out of this world! Will visit again.

Very nice place to eat. The food was great - if you're worried about hot & spicy they do cater for everyone. The southern fried jerk chicken was delicious. The cocktails go down pretty well too. Very nice friendly staff & the artwork was pretty amazing.

Excellent friendly service, for a Monday night we were seated quickly and ordered our meals. They all arrived quickly and looked amazing. The food tasted great and we would definitely return again. The guacamole and homemade chips were amazing. And we both loved the soft shell tacos.

Had a great time with friends at this place, enjoyed the food a lot, I'm vegetarian and there were plenty of options. The jalapeno poppers were incredible. We got sangria which was also very nice. The place isn't fine dining but as far as I'm concerned Mexican should be enjoyed out of your hands so knives and forks (although available obviously) just aren't needed! My experience was as part of a group so I can't comment on a more intimate experience as a couple or on your own. Go check the place out if you even remotely enjoy Mexican food, you won't regret it.

First time mexican cuisine. The service was outstanding and their advice on food (eg hot/spicy) was perfectly explained. I give the service and the food a 10 out of 10. Will definitely go their more in the future. The soft shell tacos were definitely the best I have ever tasted.

I can't fault the mains as they are delicious. But the Magarita Cheese cake was a bit too small for the price and tasted store bought. Excellent service by the staff, very friendly and attentive.

Very nice people. The two men who served us were kind and courteous. The food was very tasty. Easy parking. The restaurant is located in a street that's famous for its Victorian and Edwardian style buildings. The river is just a short stroll away. The location, food, convenience and the people are great. A must visit.

Fast, great tasting food with a wide range of options. Staff were friendly and easy to deal with. The set up and visual of the restaurant was awesome. The seats were a bit awkward, other than that loved it. Happily would come back.

4 and a half stars Great food . Decent portions with good pricing Casual enough for a catch up nice enough for a date The only reason no the five stars is the lack of authentic Mexican items on the wall , party hats and other such looked a little tacky but the atmosphere more than made up for it . If you want an authentic dinner /lunch with a great atmosphere a place not to miss

The taste of chicken quesadillas wasn't fresh. I recommend to remove the thyme of your receipe. The classic margarita was ok. But for be a Mexican restaurant I reckon that is not the Latin American atmosphere and flavour. 😔

I drove from Palmy just to try La Quattro, and it was 100% worth the trip. My partner, daughter, and I had the 3-cheese quesadilla, pumpkin tacos, salsa roja, and flan for pudding, and all of it was top notch. Growing up in the American South and Southern California, I consider myself a bit of a Mexican food snob, and I thought this place knocked it out of park. Prices were reasonable, service was kind and fast, and if anytime I find myself in Wanganui, this will be the spot to eat. A+

Small portion sizes (even for the mains) for the price you pay. That was my main issue with this place. Otherwise, very friendly service, accompanied by a warm, cosy atmosphere in which you can enjoy a lovely evening.
