Very nice food with lots of variety and everything was fresh! Staff were all friendly and the atmosphere was very pleasant and quiet. We had a lovely evening out and prices were reasonable. A great place for a family, birthday, or an outing with friends!

Very nice! Good selection of food, oils, and seasoning... and fresh cooking! Friendly service. It was good for our kids to be able to choose what they wanted to eat! A good family outing.

Better than Auckland Gengys. Food was fresh and nicely presented. Covid rules mean you can serve yourself at buffet but meat section requires you to choose your meat as usual and give to chefs and they will give you a number and serve it to your table which is great so you dont have to wait around the hot plate for your order around. Its nicely delivered to your table. Lovely staff. Clean and well maintained interior. Recommend them. We dined on 12th Jan 2022 as a group of 11 .

Food was excellent, service was pretty good buy pays to read what to do at the table. The system to deliver food to a large group didn't quite work out. We just guessed who was whose.

Having had a family birthday, we opted to attend Gengys. We arrived at opening and once upon being seated we set right into it. The options of various meats and seafood was amazing. Endless refills if you are able. The selections of oils and dressing to tantalize anyone's taste buds. Side dishes of garlic potatoes, honey kumara, cheesy cauli/broccoli, chips and lovely salads and pancake with icecream, caramel/chocolate/maple syrup. We highly recommend you bring your family to this Restuarant to celebrate family events.

Great restaurant for a family event. We celebrated a birthday here. Very impressed with staff, choice of food and atmosphere. It’s great being able to pick what you want to eat and watch it being cooked by very capable chefs. Incredible choice of food. Being vegetarian we were initially a bit diffident about going to a Mongolian restaurant but the choice of vegetarian food was wide ranging. Highly recommend this restaurant. We will definitely be returning

I love Gengys! It is my favourite place to eat in Whangarei. I have never had a bad experience here. The staff are super friendly, and they always seem happy to be working. I love that you create your own stir-fry and they cook it in front of you. It means the food is perfect everytime (even though I forget to add cooking oil most of the time 😂) Definitely my top choice in Whangarei!

Love Gengys... Was extremely busy tonight though, really with the size of the queue you could only get up to get 1 serving as it took about 20 to 30 min to get to the grill. Still love going as we do for every family bday.

Service was non-existent, most of the staff wouldn't even look at us. The food was good but only because we chose the ingredients. Had to wait 20 minutes to pay so we could leave. Not an experience I would have again

This restaurant is great for couples and groups. You choose your food and it gets stirfried in front of you. Salads and vegetables are separate. Eat as much as you like. Our choices of dessert was between ice-creams. As an ice-cream enthusiast I am happy as.

Very nice food, great service, friendly staff. Being from the hospitality trade, my only concern would be possible cross contamination with the use of cooking utensils. Each cooking was on rotation and cleaned but I didn't see the utensils cleaned. Also I might suggest the use of numbers be given another way, perhaps written? These were very dirty and continually handed out. Otherwise brilliant

If you are looking for great value, healthy options and a nice atmosphere then give this restaurant a try. We go there quite often and never disappointed. Staff very welcoming, and restaurant very clean with lots of fresh food. Great to watch the food being cooked. The selection of different side dishes with salad bar and warm side dishes were also great. Plus even the soups..yum! Great place to have a family gathering as well as group as they just cater for everyone. Would certainly recommend to everybody.

A fantastic buffet style experience. I always leave feeling absolutely stuffed. Choose your own ingredients and flavours then watch as it's cooked right before your eyes by the awesome friendly staff. There is also a great range of soup, salad and even pancakes and ice cream for dessert.

Been here a lot for birthday and each time I'm either getting worse at making food or it's just not tasting like the last time I was there. Over priced I think for how much you can eat but it's the flavor that's not worth it for me. Cocktails are over priced for the size and taste. I really like the atmosphere it's really nice with family. But will have to really want to go back to get me back there.

No where as good as Rotorua Who puts onions and carrots in the uncooked meat section ? when you can add to bowl in the vegetable section. No nuts and cream in the desert area. No sushi to be seen. Lighting in the place not very good seemed to dark for me. Only 2 people cooking the food mind you the bbq round plate is way smaller than other places been in so seems to take for ever too cook. But cant complain about the price 4 adults only got charged $56 We was all standing there to pay their mistake not ours

It was great food BUT.. honestly I have never had such awful waiter/customer care service.. they young blonde girl was a little too blunt with things and a little rude. Don't think she is cut out for serving people. I would definitely got back for the food but not to be served by her again.

Always a good visit great food great environment! Drinks can take a while to get to order and recieve but the food makes up for it. And if you've got kids ask for the mouse pancakes!

Really enjoyed the open buffet in this place. Mix and match your own wok ingredients, and see it getting cooked while you grab sides. Many ingredients to choose from. The place can get a bit noisy though because there’s usually kids’ birthday parties, but we had an enjoyable time and meal anyway.

I'm not normally a fan of cook your own meals but the biggest reason behind the 5 stars is the great service. The team here go out of their way to ensure you're catered to. Strangely, their soup options are super tasty!!

My husband & I dine here quite often. Experienced now at creating delicious plates of food. Lots of fresh meats, seafood & vege's to select from as well as sauces to tempt any palet. The service is always pleasant & friendly. Usually don't have any room left for pudding, but they make a pretty good pancake.

Overall I felt it really lacked atmosphere - just felt dull, flat - about as enticing as McDonalds dine-in. Seemed like somewhere you might go for a kid's birthday party.
